SkyDrive from Microsoft gives you 25GB of free online storage. Unlike Google Docs however there are not the same limitations on file types etc and you can only have to access it via the SkyDrive website.

Mike Plate however has just published full details on how to map SkyDrive as a network folder (via WebDAV) under Windows 7 and it works a treat (although it is very slow)

Now I am guessing that as this uses WebDAV, in theory you should be able to do this under other operating systems but I will let you guys try that one out for yourselves.

I am continuing to be too busy to write anything real for another week at least, so I’m continuing to stick stuff on my blog that would maybe be better in a tumblr that I don’t have. But I have still found things to share!

I hate the Twilight “saga,” and I say this as a girl who was forced to read them before they were known or famous or anything. I had to read them for my Advanced English Twelve class in high school. I have no idea why, because they are written at a grade five level. I made it through the first two books and the first maybe… three chapters of the third one before I decided fuck this noise, and it was pretty easy to write the test anyway (yes, I had to write a test about Twilight. In high school. For marks that got me into university).

Anyway good thing I found this comic, now I know what happens in the books I didn’t read:

I got this latte at Cafe Myriade in Montréal. It has hearts in it.

Caffeine is wonderful. Lately I have been favouring tea, specifically of the Earl Grey variety (like Captain Picard) (I’m at like, 6 cups a day) but I have also lately been cafe-hopping whenever I am in Montréal, since it actually has cafes, unlike London.

Here is the most interesting thing I have ever seen about coffee that I found on  what is my new favourite website. Featuring dancing goats!

I promise I’ll stop with poetic nonsense eventually and get on with something real to say, but I found this on the internet and it is what I have been trying to say and couldn’t figure out how. I don’t know who wrote it but it could have been me.

Everyone seems to be worried about my moving my life again next year. But it’s less scary than that time I moved to Ontario alone. So I think I’m gonna be more okay than ever.

Ahh, PETA. The things you do. Let’s set the record straight right off the bat: I am a vegetarian (and was vegan, too, for a short and unhappy time), but if you try to lump me in with the PETA crazies, I may have to perform some animal cruelty on you.

I get these stints of insomnia every now and then. Sometimes it’s the kind where I stay awake for 50 hours, but generally it’s the kind where I lie awake in bed until 5am, tossing and turning, and when I finally do sleep, I do not move an inch until noon even if I set 5 alarms. It’s kind of irritating.

I’ve been having about a week of this and it’s getting old, so yesterday I went on a little hunt with my friend Google to see if there were any useful insomnia cures apart from taking sleeping pills. There weren’t, unless you count sleeping with my head to the North so that my Energy can Resonate with the Earth (incidentally, my head points south. I am not rearranging my bedroom in hopes of curing my insomnia, as convincing as that theory sounds).

What I did find was this fun nature sounds tool! I turned on some rain and ocean, added a little bonfire and a touch of creek, put lappy next to my bed, and managed to drift off within an hour even though my head was facing north. Besides using this thing to actually feel relaxed and whatnot, you can play with it to make the most terrible sounds possible. Like birds chirping, an African drum beat, and a thunderstorm, all rolled into one. It’s sort of beyond me how anyone can be lulled to sleep by a thunderstorm or crying seagulls, but to each their own, I guess.

If you want to up the new-ageness, you can enjoy the sound of crickets while watching a nature slideshow. Just what I always wanted.

In all seriousness, though, if you want to share actual, useful ways that you get to sleep at night, this insomniac would love to hear about them.

I saw this film made by Robin Sloan and Matt Thomson a few years ago and just happened to come across it again whilst sorting out my bookmarks this morning.

Remember that this was produced a few years ago before Twitter or Facebook became as big as they are.

It’s 8 minutes long so grab a coffee, sit back and try and work out which predictions were on the nail and which were way off.
