I was asked to cover the recent Minus the Bear show by Mark C. Austin. He asked me to make a poster for the band their tour manager, a personal friend of his. I created two and they went with the one without the bear. Can’t blame them I’m sure they have a lot of Bear related things as it is

Last year(2007) I contacted the guys behind Lebowski Fest, a gathering of all things Lebowski yearly in Kentucky and also around the world, about having one in Houston. I really wanted to go to one and realizing I probably wasn’t geeky enough to go to Louisville I asked if they wanted to partner up and have on here. No dice they said. As a matter of fact they out right told me to not even consider using the Lebowski Fest name. No worries I just used Bash instead.

The party was a big hit, we had Vinyl Ranch, the Tontons, a special screening of the yet to be released Burn After Reading that the studio sent me. We also had a showing of the movie that was interrupted about halfway through by SexyATTACK. All in all it was a blast – thanks Houston

The world needs another blog like it needs another oil rig. Wait, bad analogy. Or is it? I’ll stop m

The world needs another blog like it needs another oil rig. Wait, bad analogy. Or is it? I’ll stop myself before I get into a ‘safe renewable energy’ debate and state that the world does not need this blog and quite frankly the cards are stacked against me if I think I am going to succeed.

According to Blog Herald which states that Technorati claims back in February 2008 that they are currently tracking 112.8 million blog but that that almost certainly does not include the recently stated 72.82 million blogs in China.

That’s a lot of blogs but is it all hot air? No. Some of them are quite good and some may not speak to you or me but there’s almost everything for everyone. Some are quiet, very quiet. I don’t have concrete stats but I know a lot of those are dormant, inactive or abandoned and I know I am guilty of a couple of those. I don’t know how many emails I have received from friends stating that they jumped on the blog bandwagon and created their own off-ramp on the information superhighway to their brain. This initial ‘Hello World, this is me’ post is filled with some much hope and enthusiasm it hurts to visit it 3 months later and take that enthusiasm seriously when that is still the only post.

So, not only do I have to go up against that staggering amount of blogs that Technorati is indexing I also have to weed my way through the ghost of blogtown in order to find my audience. But, do I really want an audience? Hey, I’m in web marketing of course I want an audience.

I don’t expect to fail but this is my full disclosure just incase I do. I’d hate to end up like the Tooth Past for Dinner cartoon above
