We have all seen a business that is doing well, in fact very well, and then they decide it

We have all seen a business that is doing well, in fact very well, and then they decide it is time to expand operations and open up a new location. Then, about a year later people are saying things like remember when… Well, in the news today is the story of one of the largest law firms in America closing their doors because they expanded too rapidly and then ran out of money.

I talk with owners frequently who are on the cusp of expanding and I tend to give them the advise they most don;’t want to hear. Like when they opened their first location they should plan on spending the first year never collecting a penny in revenue and budgeting with money in the bank to accomplish that. That has the tendency to throw a wet blanket on their plans but I rather be a wet blanket than work with a bankruptcy attorney on the liquidation of my friends dreams. The reality is that business requires a steady and relistic hand and Iam called on more and more often for that guidance. I would with actual owners daily and what we talk about is the real world stuff that cames down to dollars and cents.

If you are considering expansion here are a few questions to have concrete answers to before you lease anything or hire anyone….

Why expansion and why now?

Will you earn additional bottomline profits?

Does your market need another you in another location?

Are there likely to be more customers or clients because you expanded?

These questions are just the tip of the iceberg and there are lots more to ask and get good answers to. If you are even thinking about expanding we should talk. My name is Michael and you can call me at 916-773-6454 or e-mail me at michael@youratp.com We can talk for no charge and get a few things down on paper before you head out and create another you!

If you can mimic the behavior of someone, you may be able to produce similar results. How

If you can mimic the behavior of someone, you may be able to produce similar results. How many 10 year old football players want to throw a pass like Joe Montana and how many 15 year old basketball players want to shoot a ball like michael Jordon and how many high school seniors want to hit a baseball like Barry Bonds? How many grown ups want to pay attention to financial planning like Warran Buffett? The answer to the first 3 is almost every one and the answer to the last is not so many. Is that why kids are happier? Let me explain….

I read one of the accounting journals I recieved over the weekend that was exploring the things that the wealthy do that many of us won’t and the number one item was tax planning. Not a sexy subject to be sure and yet since it will affect each of us we need to look at it a bit. When you have money that is going to be taxable it makes sense to determine how much of it can be redirected into a lower taxed or non-taxable situation. While not always possible it should be explored when it is possible.

When any of us go on vacation we will get maps and make plans on what we want to see while away. What I am suggesting is exactly the same thing. Everything we do is expensive and getting more expensive on an almost daily basis. Gas is up, electricity is up, car insurance is up and we do our best to control each one of these costs and for most americans taxes remain as our first or second largest expense. Property tax, Federal Income Tax, State Income tax, Utility Tax, Excise Tax and the list goes on. With a 45 minute planning session we can typically find ways to decrease your Federal and State tax obligations while building your personal wealth at the same time!

If you want to like more like Warren Buffett or even Joe Montana for that matter (I hear he is doing ok) call and spend a few minutes with me. We may be able to legally drop your tax payments by 20% or more and put that money into your pocket for yur future. It is your money after all! Call me at 916-773-6454 or e-mail me at michael@youratp.com and lets see what’s possible!

I know that you all think my life is filled with the romance one would expect from working

I know that you all think my life is filled with the romance one would expect from working side by side with the IRS. Little do you know. This is a little microcosm of what and who I work with when my day is planned around the IRS. Before I go too far I want you to know that the IRS is made up of people that are doing their personal best in a world filled with rules that no one can possibly fully understand. This is not meant to diminish what they have to do and is meant to show what I do behind the scenes.

I have a client named Steven (He gave me permission to use his name) that has been fighting with the IRS for 19 months over a bill I know he does not owe. I can prove and have previously shown the IRS in writing why he does not owe this money. They were preapring to levy his account. I decided to call them and get this handled once and for all. After waiting on hold for over an hour on Monday I finally got someone who wanted to help me. Sadly they could not because even though I just wanted tehm to review the account they needed a “Power Of Attorney’ (POA) to do so. Over an hour wasted.

Once I got the POA I called back and spent another hour and 10 minutes on hold and finally got a hold of a delightful clerk who wanted to help my client. We spent another 35 minutes working through the issue and lo and behold my client does not owe any of the money. All of the penalties and interest were retroactively removed and my client is off the hook. This is what I knew all along but I had to find a willing listener which I found. The result of this for me is no increase in income because this is part of the service I am entrusted to provide. The result for Steven is he will keep more than $3000 in his pocket. This was a very good phone call!

Here is the takeaway in this story. The IRS has created a system that is extremely difficult to almost impossible to work within and Joe Taxpayer is at a decided dis-advantage when doing so. Most people don’t have time to wait on hold for over an hour twice and then have another 30 minute conversation where you quote law and they would give up and write the check (I have seen this happen a lot). You hire me to know the law and get them to comply when they don’t follow their own rules for whatever reason.

If you or your friends want to take this responsibility on yourself I wish you well with that. If you want this service provided at a level that does not involve hour long hold times (Not even that long by IRS standards) call me at 916-773-6454 or e-mail me at michael@youratp.com

I have had a lot of questions of late regarding college educations and where to look for careers that will be strong moving into the future. As a result of that a client passed along an article over the weekend and this one focused on 6 great careers for the next decade and beyond. Being a money and tax guy this got my attention. I liked what I read so I am putting my spin on it and sending it to you. Here you go!

Paralegal. Be involved with the law and never go to law school! Great career that can be used almost anywhere. This requires ongoing education and the money is good while the hours can be long. The next best thing to being an attorney.

Information Technology. Computers are not going anywhere, anytime soon! This one requires a fair amount of math and time spent alone. If you are a real people person this might not be the best choice!

Nursing. Again, with our society aging this is almost a full employment act. More and more responsibility is shifting to nursing and there is not anywhere in America where nurses are not in demand.

Junior Accountant. With Local, State and the Federal Government making the rules more complex this will be in greater demand than ever inside of 5 years. The demands will be great and while you will need to know some math, it will be basic. The ability to understand government laws will be crucial.

Dental assisting. This will take you about a year to complete and who doesn’t see their dentist on a regular basis? As long as we have teeth we will need dental assistants.

Health information technology. This one is very much like #2 but concerns itself with nothing but health information. As we become even more of an electronically based society we will have fewer printed forms and more online forms. This will be a very good place to be.

These are the top 6 from what I have read. If you want to discuss this further please call my office at 916-773-6454 or e-mail me at michael@youratp.com

Did you know that there are at least 7 big time colleges that are lowering their tuitions in order to attract students that would otherwise not be able to afford to attend. In fact, some of these private colleges are lowering their rates as mush as 22% in order to attract the student that would otherwise be attending a community type college. The reasons are simple and a case of basic economics.

These schools have a minimum operating cost and every dollar they can attract has a portion that will go to pay the costs of operating the college. If you have 23 in a class instead of 20 there is very little difference, if any differnce at all, in the quality of education and the tuition of the last 3 can go to pay costs associated with running the school. This is a win-win-win. The school wins, the student win and the professor wins because there are more students to teach.

What you will notice that most chancellors will never notice is that a college is a business like any other business. While many of us don’t want to think of our schools running like a business (profit, loss, customers, etc) they are. If a priate college operates in the red for even a short period of time it can mean closing the doors or lowering the quality of the education. They do not have a legislature they can go to and ask for a blank check and get it. They have to perform and perform on a consistent basis. This is actually a good thing to look for in a college.

As with any investment, and an education is an investment, you must look at the eventual payoff. If you persue a Masters Degree in basket weaving (no slight is meant toward basket weavers) you should not expect a great return on your investment. If you are after a degree in elderly care you can and should expect at least a decent return on investment. You really have to work toward an education in a profession that you will love and can do for at least the next 20 years!

As a financial professional I am often asked the question “what degree would I suggest for so

As a financial professional I am often asked the question “what degree would I suggest for someone entering college today?” Like everything thing else in the world, the answer is much more difficult than the question would imply.

My name is Michael Boehrer and I am a CTP and I have spent more money and more time in college than I even care to think about. For me, this has been a great investment and one I would make again in a moment. This is not true for everyone and, with the cost of education escalating more rapidly than inflation, becoming less true for many. How can this be?

I want to cite 2 instances I personally know about as on point examples of how the investment in education has worked both for and against someone. Example #1 is a Medical Doctor that works in family practice. She invested over $250,000 in her education and her student loan payments are just over $2500 per month for 25 years, and this is after tax money. While she makes over $9000 per month it leaves her with enough money to live and not much else. Someone else I know is completing his education in automotive technology and will enter the workforce later this year with no student loan debt and a career path. He spent his time in sweat equity.

2 people and 2 very different outcomes and 2 very different salary results. Both are happy with their results. What should you be looking for after knowing this?

Know that tuition is not cheap and that student loans last almost forever. Ask yourself if your degree will remain in demand for the next 20 or so years. If not you may want to reconsider.

Know that a college degree could lead to a higher earning potential even outside of your chosen profession. Know that you do not need a college degree to succeed. People of note that do not have college degrees are Bill Gates and Michael Dell. Who can argue that they have not done every well.

Know that employment stability comes with a degree. Even today those with only a high school diploma have a national unemployment rate of about 12% and those with a Bachelors degree are under 4%!

There are no one size fits all answer. My answer worked for me and yours will need to as well. Also, I know that I spend about 10 hours per week outside of my office working on staying current with the rest of the world. With responsibility comes commitment.

When you know that you must decide where to invest your time and money the return you could get will matter. While I do NOT specialize in financial investments this is an area I am very comfortable in. Talk to me! I can be reached at 916-773-6454 or via e-mail at michael@youratp.com

There is a popular commercial for a credit card and they ask you “whats in your wallet?” An even better question to ask is “Whats in your return?” Do you have a return filled with facts, deductions and additional information that will stand out and become a giant red flag or do you have an unreasonable safe return because, even though you can substantiate everything you are afraid to go there?

There are many folks who are still willing to prepare and file their own return, plan what their strategy should be for the next year and then hope for the best. I wonder what these folks do when they need dental care and at the same time feel badly for their kids (ok, kidding abit on the last part). If you had any idea how much goes into planning and preparation so I can file returns I can promise you would theink twice and even three times before you did it again. Tax filing software only makes it worse for most.

If you want a glimpse into the actual tax code and what it can mean, both for you and against you, then you chould contact my office well in advance of January 1st, 2013. The more you delay the more it will potentially cost you and your first visit with me is free! Call me at 916-773-6454 or e-mail me at michael@youratp.com Seriously, there is no good reason to wait and a lot of bad things can happen if you choose to wait. Call today.

Ok, you shouldn’t hate tax time for the obvious reasons. I know this is going to sound a bit trite but shouldn’t we be willing to pay a certain share to the government for certain services that we all find worthwhile. That’s not why I think you should hate tax time! We should all hate tax time for the amount of paperwork that we do year round and for the level of dishonesty this paperwork creates in many taxpayers nationwide.

You and I will do paperwork all year to support the tax returns we are filing (at least we should!). You keep receipts, track expenses, store supporting items, spend money on planning and otherwise spend your time and money trying to re-coup what is rightfully yours. The dishonesty comes in the form of trying to remember and re-create an expense that you paid, is a legal deduction and you forgot to write it down. Over estimate that expense and you cheat the government, underestimate it and you cheat yourself! Neither one of these methods works and one can get you fined and even sent to jail. Yikes!

An increasing part of what I do on your behalf is to create a system that makes this easy and helps to keep you accountable and in compliance all at the same time. Like you I have the paperwork and find the dishonesty to be unacceptable as well.

If you find your self dragging your feet when it comes to taxes every year a call to my office will help you with that. I am Michael Boehrer and I own YOUR Accounting, Tax and Payroll and I can be reached at 916-773-6454 or you can e-mail me at michael@youratp.com

Just as taxes this year are coming to an end, we get advance notice that taxes next year could be the most chaotic on record! This comes straight from the horse’s mouth, the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service Douglas Shulman.

Since Congress has not acted on whether or not to extend tax cuts that were made for individuals under George Bush, along with the fact that we have a Lame Duck Congress there may not be anything happening until early 2013. This could delay out ability to actually know what is and is not deductible and what actual tax rates will be. In fact, we may not even know what our effective tax rates will be until early 2013!

This could be a disaster for anyone filing for the alternative minimum tax and while this may not be you it could impact you. The alternative minimum tax is a parallel tax system that applies to higher-income taxpayers. A legislative fix to index it for inflation must be approved before year’s end to prevent the tax from hitting taxpayers in lower income brackets.

Imagine the IRS having to wait to program their computers so you can file electronically. We already have problems in that direction that are still not solved. In the absence of congressional action by January 1, the IRS might be forced to delay the tax-filing season, which begins promptly with the new year, Shulman said.

As it is, Congress faces a huge workload for the two-month lame-duck period after the elections when about $650 billion of tax and spending provisions expire.

Presently there are no easy answers for this and certainly no forms we can fill out. Time may or may not solve this and the people that will need to solve this have either just been re-elected or just voted out. We cannot really depend on either group to do the right thing not matter your party loyalty.

Congrats to Brad @Keselowski on his victory in the Food City 500 yesterday. It was Keselowski’

Congrats to Brad @Keselowski on his victory in the Food City 500 yesterday. It was Keselowski’s second straight win at Bristol (he also won the Irwin Tools Night Race last August), leaving him “only” 10 wins behind Darrell Waltrip, who holds the record with 12 wins all-time at the track.

As you can see in the photo below, Keselowski took a picture with his phone as soon as he got out of his car in Victory Lane (which means he had his phone in the car with him again during the race).

The guy definitely knows the importance of social media these days…

Keselowski actually took two pictures from Victory Lane (and tweeted one of them). Here is the one he tweeted last night:

Right here.

_______________________________________________________________________

As always, I picked up a ton of new NASCAR knowledge during the race yesterday, thanks to the announcers on FOX, and a little help on Twitter. Here’s a summary:

Actually, this one I learned before the race: I turned on @SPEED on Saturday and saw a motorcycle race at Daytona International Speedway. Turns out, tracks are operated independently of NASCAR and need to make money somehow when there are no NASCAR races going on. Therefore, they run events such as professional motorcycle racing, and also open to the public for different kinds of racing.

A competition caution is a caution that NASCAR schedules on purpose on days when rain washes the track clean before the race. The competition caution gives teams a chance to adjust their cars.

Whenever there is a wreck during a race, NASCAR officials around the track communicate by radio to determine whether or not there will be a caution at that time.

I noticed that roof flaps open up on top of the cars during crashes. Apparently, this is to prevent the car from lifting off the track and rolling through the air.

I was shocked to see @JeffGordonWeb and @KaseyKahne‘s teams working together on Gordon’s car after his tire blew up. Turns out, they are teammates for Hendrick Motorsports, which I didn’t realize before yesterday.

These cars have exhaust pipes in the middle of undercarriage, which stick out to the side a bit. Gordon’s car was actually out of the race because his rear left tire exploded when teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. bumped into him and sent him spinning. The resulting wreck caused enough damage that he couldn’t get back in the race right away.

Cars are allowed to race with no hood if a wreck causes the hood to be destroyed. That was pretty surprising to me…

_____________________________________________________________________________

As always, some questions came up yesterday as I was watching. If you can answer them, help me out in the comments section below.

1. A friend of mine told me that the pit road speed limit depends on track size. The larger the track, the higher the pit road speed limit. Can anyone confirm? (By the way, the pit road speed limit yesterday was 30 mph).

2. When a driver participates in Nationwide and Sprint Cup races, does he use the same crew/crew chief for both events?

3. Where is lap length measured from? The middle of the track? Or the lower edge?

4. It sounds like 6 or 7 crew members are allowed over the wall during a pit stop. Can anyone confirm?

5. When the drivers do burnouts after winning, doesn’t that just mean more work for the crew to prepare the car for the next race???

6. Jeff Burton’s nickname is “The Mayor,” and Kyle Busch’s nickname is “Wild Thing”?

7. It sounded like the announcers said the first car that is one lap down at the time of a caution lap gets a “free pass” to rejoin the lead lap?

8. Bristol Motor Speedway is called “Thunder Valley”? Because of how loud it is?

___________________________________________________________________________

Keselowski seems to be heating up lately, as ESPN anchor John Buccigross tweeted this morning:

Brad Keselowski- 4 of his 5 career Cup Series wins have come in the last 28 races- trails only Tony Stewart (6) for most during this time
—
John Buccigross (@Buccigross) March 19, 2012

Let’s see if Keselowski can make it two races in a row next week…

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series raced the Food City 500 in Thunder Valley, the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN. This was the fourth race of the season. So far there have been three different race winners. Bristol Motor Speedway is the Fastest Half Mile in the world, a .533 mile track. Bristol Motor Speedway was reconfigured to give it a second groove to make for more racing for position. Some NASCAR fans prefer the old shoving out of the way for position. This NASCAR race fan prefers the side by side racing with less shoving and caution laps.

Sunday morning, there was rain at the track, washing all the rubber off the track. But that stopped, the track was dried and the race is good to go. There will be a competition caution around lap 50 so the teams can see how the tires are. Should there be a caution before that, they will not be allowed to fuel the cars.

Pre-race ceremonies included driver introductions with each driver picking a song and introducing himself. Watching the race at home, we got to see only a handful of the drivers and their songs.

45 cars were entered in the race. 7 Robby Gordon had engine issues, was unable to start the car and withdrew from the race. Rookie 37 Timmy Hill was the lone driver who did not make the race. 16 Greg Biffle captured the Pole with a speed of 125.215 mph and 15.324 seconds around this short track. 22 A. J. Allmendinger sits next to him on the front row. Biffle finished third in the three previous races this year. No pole sitter has won this race since Rusty Wallace did it many years ago.

So, here we go! 16 Biffle chooses the outside and pulls ahead to lead. 24 Jeff Gordon and 22 race for second with 39 Ryan Newman right behind. 78 Regan Smith, 99 Carl Edwards, 2 Brad Keselowski and 43 Aric Almirola race for position. 22 drives under 24 for second. 24 and 39 race for third.

The first caution comes out during the commercial. 78, 5 Kasey Kahne and 2 were racing for position. 5 and 78 got together, 5 spins, 2 and 78 get away with some damage. 99 runs into 5, collecting 18 Kyle Busch, 9 Marcos Ambrose and 29 Kevin Harvick. 5 had thought he cleared 78, 78 got into 5 to start the mess. (Clearly, it was too soon for no give and take.) This will be the competition caution. 22 stays out to lead. Seven drivers do not make a pit stop.

They restart on lap 46. 31 Jeff Burton gets by 88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. 17 Matt Kenseth, 33 Brendan Gaughan and 43 race for position with 27 Paul Menard and 39 joining them. 14 Tony Stewart races side by side with 51 Kurt Busch. 55 Brian Vickers and team mate 56 Martin Truex, Jr. race for position. 55 takes the lead in traffic, on the bottom of the track when 22 is high behind a car about to be lapped.

The second caution comes out when 32 Ken Schrader had a tire going down and hits the wall hard. 36 Dave Blaney gets his lap back. 55 leads. 22 and 31 race for second with 24 right behind. 22 stays in second. 9 and 18 are back in the race after repairs, many laps down. 22, 24 and 2 race for position 2 takes the spot, 24 gets by 22. 22, 88 and 31 race for position. 17 gets by 88 for fourth. 1 Jamie McMurray drives under 22 for tenth. (22 is very loose and loosing spots.) 5 is back on the track.

2 catches leader 55. 14 moves 43 out of the way. 24 drives between two lapped cars. 15 Clint Bowyer drives under 48 Jimmie Johnson for seventh. 2 takes the lead. 24 and 55 race for second. 22 is way too loose and pits. 24 catches leader 2. 17 gets by 55 for third. 17 gets by 24 for second. 17 takes the lead as 2 pits to start Green Flag Pitting. When 55 finally makes his pit stop, 2 is back in the lead. 11 Denny Hamlin has a loose wheel and has to pit again. 31 gets by 24 for third. 99 is back on the track. 55 drives around 88.

17 catches leader 2, trying to lap 14. The third caution comes out when 30 David Stremme blows a right front tire and hits the wall. 14 Tony Stewart gets his lap back. 29 stays on the lead lap. 11 takes the wave around. 2 chooses the inside and 17 and 2 battle for the lead, touching each other. 17 takes the lead on the outside. 15 and 31 race for position with 24. 15 gets the spot. 24 and 88 race for fifth.

The fourth caution comes out during the commercial. 24 and 88 were racing side by side and get together. 24 cuts a tire and spins into the wall. They restart with 130 laps to go. 17 chooses the outside. The first eight cars stay out. 17 and 2 race for the lead. 48 and 16 race for seventh. 31 gets by 15. 17 leads but cannot pull away. 31 and 15 race each other again. 17 and 2 race for the lead. 2 takes the lead. 15 gets by 31 for third. 2 gets a little too high and thinks he has a flat tire. 48 and 16 race side by side and 16 finally takes the spot. 56 drives around 31 for sixth.

Today is the Sprint Cup Food City 500 in Bristol, TN. This is the race track that made me fall in love with NASCAR. Several years ago, Jeremy took me to my very first race in Bristol. At the time, I couldn’t care less about racing. I could not see the interest in watching a bunch of cars drive in circles over and over. Once we were there, I found out why people loved it so much! I couldn’t believe how exciting watching a bunch of cars drive in circles could be. I was officially hooked. We have gone to several more races since then and I can’t wait to go to the next. Bristol is my favorite track of all for a couple of reasons. First, its right at home. You could follow the woods and end up right at the house where I grew up in Johnson City. Second, I love small tracks so much more because there is alot more action at those tracks. And most of all, I love the atmosphere at Bristol. I love all the country rednecks!!!

Dale Earnhardt, Jr.#88 is my driver, and #29 Kevin Harvick is my back-up. Jr may not have won the most races, but he is still my #1 guy!! Hopefully he will be the first to cross the finish line today in Bristol!

Boogity boogity boogity, lets go racin boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Staying on top of blogging during the summer is nearly impossible for me. When summer hits I am in full swing shooting Mountain Biking. I was checking the dates for the Outdoor Nationals at Thunder Valley and I noticed I had the weekend off. I gave my buddy Andrew at Vurbmoto.com a ring and before I knew it I was off the Denver to shoot my third ever motocross event.

The last moto event I shot was Red Bull X-Fighters in Dallas, TX and let me tell you I missed shooting moto alot. I missed the noise and the smell of the moto bikes racing around the track. I had a blast shooting Thunder Valley and I can’t wait to shoot more moto events in 2012.

Saturday evening into night, the NASCAR Nationwide Series raced the Food City 250 in Thunder Valley. the world’s fastest half mile. That is, the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN. Sprint Cup regulars, Kyle Busch (on the pole), Joey Logano (second), Clint Bowyer, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards and David Reutimann are in this race. Any of them, of course, will be a threat to win the race.

18 Kyle Busch leads from the pole. 38 Kasey Kahne, 64 David Reutimann and 39 Fain Skinner are three wide. 38 and 64 race side by side when 38 hits the apron and runs into 64 trying to save the car and spins 64, causing the first caution. 15 Timmy Hill gets the free pass. Most of the leaders stay out, while 60 Carl Edwards pits and is caught speeding. At the restart, 2 Elliott Sadler gets by 20 Joey Logano for second. 2 and 20 race side by side and 20 gets by. 33 Clint Bowyer drives under 2 for third. (23 Dennis Setzer entered the pits illegally) 33 and 20 battle for second and 33 takes the position. 6 Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. finds he can run high and is moving up. 38 gets by 11 Brian Scott for ninth. 70 David Stremme and 32 Reed Sorenson race side by side, lap after lap. 32 finally gets by. 33 takes the lead, driving on the bottom. 32 fights to stay on the lead lap.

The second caution comes out when 2 Jeremy Clements blows the right front tire and gets into the wall. 32 Reed Sorenson gets back onto the lead lap. 33 wins the race off pit road to lead. 2 and 20 race side by side and 20 gets by. The third caution comes out when 09 Kenny Wallace has a tire go down and gets into the wall. 62 Michael Annett gets the free pass. 2 and 18 battle for second and 18 gets by. The fourth caution comes out when 22 Parker Kligerman gets loose under 16 Trevor Bayne and spins himself out. 31 Justin Allgaier gets his lap back. 18 takes the lead in traffic. 38 has to pit with a tire going down and looses three laps. 33 and 18 battle side by side in traffic for the lead.

The fifth caution comes out when 05 David Starr blows a tire and gets into the wall. 20 and 30 Jason Lefler stay out to lead. 33 gets by 60 for fourth. 20 and 18 battle for the lead and 18 takes the lead. 33 gets by 30 for third. 60 gets by 30 for fourth. 32 and 16 race side by side. 66 Steve Wallace gets in there with 32 and 16 forcing them to touch and 16 to loose ground. 16 bumps 66. 18 and 20 battle for the lead, but 20 can’t get by. And Kyle Busch wins the Food City 250. This is his 50th Nationwide race win, becoming the first Nationwide driver to do so. He is now the best Busch/Nationwide driver ever! Oh, wait. Kyle is a regular Sprint Cup competitor. (Wow, he beat the Nationwide drivers who are not good enough to compete in Sprint Cup, fifty times!)

Logano finished second, followed by Bowyer, Edwards, Aric Almirola, Annett, Leffler, Sadler, Kligerman and Scott. The top four drivers do not receive championship points. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. retains the points lead. Sadler and Sorenson stay in second and third. Almirola and Allgaier trade fourth and fifth. Leffler, Kenny and Steve Wallace, Scott and Annett round out the top ten in points.
