YOUR PETS AND CHILDREN

Recently I was reading the quote of a publisher, requesting the authors to NEVER sending them the stories/poems about their children and pets.

He further continued very wickedly that we don’t want to know how fuzzy, cute your kitten or dog is, or how your kid is growing up. So please don’t send us those stories or poems!

Igloo in Middle East – there is an ice lounge in Dubai where it is claimed that the wall, curtain, paintings are carved on ice, even the sculptures are made of ice. The temperature….well, minus six degree centigrade!

IPL has been the center of controversy from the very beginning I think, I don’t watch cricket, because I prefer watching games which won’t cause me immense disappointment or grief.

I remember watching them last as teenager, back then it was a tragedy, few Indian cricketers like Gavaskar, Amarnath tried to save the match by desperately clinging to the wicket and the rest just used it for ice skating, they came and they went out in a jiffy. So when Gavaskar retired I stopped watching the cricket and don’t regret it. All those stories of match fixing and bribing has wiped away every trace of interest in my heart.

The last time IPL danced in the headlines, Modi had to run away from the country, and a minister had to resign or was he sacked? He claimed that all the money made was made by his “Just good friend”, his constant companion in travels, now his wife …. Voila he is back as a minister and is back in IPL too. Now, those of you who want to launder money… can try this trick! The money will stay yours, and your sleeve will be as clean as a freshly laundered shirt sleeve.

In the latest drama I can presume that the small fries will be punished EXEMPLARILY like all other small fries in this country are!

The big fishes will become ministers and rule the country!

I often annoy people by my preference of animals over human beings, but, if we discuss openly and honestly we will realize that somewhere down the line human beings have failed miserably as true companions for long time. Not all of them, but too many of them.

I was not like this, for years I preferred human beings over animals, when it came to help, serve, pamper or spend money on. Then came a really dark phase, when the darkness was so deep and long that when I walked out of that tunnel I noticed that all those human beings I have loved selflessly have vanished, but the animals have stayed. Ignoring my temper tantrum and brooding.

I don’t blame those human beings for deserting me, but that tunnel taught me the limit up to which human beings can be pampered, loved and how if we actually want to have creatures around us we can love from depth of our heart we should keep a few four legged ones. They will act as balm when our human friends will bid goodbye, breaking our heart, stabbing at our back or due to growing coldness…

I guess if we human beings don’t start reviving our old virtues like gratefulness, gratitude soon human beings will only look at human beings at mates, not friends forever.

A child in Delhi has noticed that lots of trees in an area causes temperature drop. Those of us who have commuted to and from Kolkata, from a less polluted area can vow to it that the moment the train reaches non polluted area the choking heat goes away.

When will the residents and the local authorities realize it and try to plant trees in metros, in a large scale?

After all, what’s the problem? The uprooting of trees during storms…. Severed phone and electric wires… they are logical problems. Then they should build clusters of trees and keep those areas safe from becoming criminal dens! Will they be able to do that? Or plant trees in a way that they won’t grow too tall to get toppled easily or disrupt the wires? I think this might be easier, growing bushy trees instead of letting them grow wildly, reaching for sky.

And at the end, the old plea, save the water-bodies that are still around! Put a lid to your never ending greed hole or throw a rock and block that pit (the latter suggestion is for citizens-that’s how they should deal with greedy officials).

Residents of picturesque mangrove island Vanxim of Goa are in a genuine dilemma.

A church and chapel built hundreds of years ago, a number of water bodies, a sea of mangroves, old Goan houses surrounded by garden… that’s what Vanxim is. But there are no medical facilities, no schools, not even shops for every petty need they have to ferry across to Divar Island.

groups of women across several remote villages in the Sunderbans of West Bengal have added another task to their long list of daily chores- planting mangrove trees to create green embankments that will prove crucial to their survival and eco system.

The inhabitants of this rich but vulnerable delta region were cutting away mangrove trees to make place for their agricultural fields till just a few years back, before they realized that global warming will drastically change their way of life forever, as the rising water will engulf the islands.

Indian society needs to educate its masses against the monstrous exploitations they face. I really don’t think they can count on Governments or police to protect them. Before encountering one in 2000 I never knew how powerful they are and how tightly knit their network is all over the country.

Every year one racket is busted, at least one with nation-wide network, So massive is their network that if and when their victims escape they start harassing that person right in her home, along with her family members, forcing her to return from where she escaped.
