Here at HHE we write to provide our readers with information that helps us to become well rounded entrepreneurs. The most important tool to have as an entrepreneur is……YOUR HEALTH!

It pains me to see how hard people work to achieve certain goals and often times, no where on the list is your well being. It seems to be not important. WHY? I ask that but it really doesn’t even matter what the answer is because lets just begin TODAY changing the way we feel about our temples. Honor yourself. Love yourself. You’ll be amazed how everything around you will begin to conform and suddenly become loving as well. Change your vibration and raise it higher.

I found this article on foods that have healing power. In fact, ALL things that come naturally from the earth such as fruits, veggies, herbs, have healing powers which is why your diet should consist if not entirely but mostly of natural products.

All change you desire begins with you. In order to get your mind right you have to change what you put into your temple. Begin today with a new you.

:: By Michelle Schoffro Cook, D.N.M., DAc, CNC –>

Most people know that we need adequate amounts of oxygen, water, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, and good carbs for great health. But you may not know much about a group of micronutrients, also called phytonutrients, that can help prevent disease and restore health and vitality. Phytonutrient-rich foods are essential to vibrant health and wellbeing, yet they are almost completely ignored by many diet plans. There are about 2,000 known phytonutrients; many others are being discovered all the time. And, you guessed it, they’re found in fruit, vegetables, herbs, spices, nuts, sprouts and seeds. A single fruit or vegetable may contain more than 100 different types of healing phytonutrients that basically make up the immune system of the plant. Once eaten, phytonutrients impart their incredible healing abilities inside your body. The thousands of phytonutrients are categorized into families, including carotenoids, catechins, flavonoids, lipoic acid, phytoestrogens, polyphenols, sulfurophane, and others. Let’s explore the phytonutrient families and find out how you can include more of them in your diet.

Anthocyanins

These natural, health-boosting substances give certain fruits their purple to reddish color. Not only does research show that anthocy anins have the capacity to boost short-term memory by 100 percent in just eight weeks, they also stimulate the burning of stored fat in the body to be used as fuel. Up your intake: Anthocyanins are found in dark purple or red grapes, cherries, and berries, including blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries.

Carotenoids

Not only do cartenoids help strengthen your eyesight and boost your immunity to disease, they are powerful antioxidants that, in some studies, reduced the risk of cancer and protected against the effects of aging. Up your intake: Carotenoids are the yellow, orange, and red pigments found in foods like carrots, sweet potatoes, apricots, mangoes, pumpkin, tomatoes, papaya, peaches, and other similarly colored foods as well as dark green vegetables like broccoli and leafy greens.

Catechins

Want to lose weight? Be sure to add catechins to your diet since they activate fat-burning genes in abdominal fat cells to assist with weight loss, and belly fat loss in particular. According to research at Tufts University, catechins increase abdominal fat loss by 77 percent and double total weight loss. Up your intake: Catechins are mainly found in green and black tea, as well as apples.

Flavonoids

Flavonoids are the miracle nutrients we keep hearing about in the media lately; they interfere with the stages of the development of cancer cells. Resveratrol, a particular flavonoid found predominantly in grapes, has demonstrated its ability to protect the brain from damage. Up your intake: Flavonoids are found in berries, cherries, currants, pomegranates, red and purple grapes, red onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, apple (skin), and walnuts.

Now you can understand why phytonutrients play such a critical role in your diet.

This show is very important for us to share with you guys because many of you may be faced with the decision to enlist for the security and benefits it provides. Even after what Arthur has gone through, he still doesn’t have many bad things to say about the Army. My opinion is much different but of course, I’ve never been in the Army so I’m 100% open to listen to the experience through his words.

How much do they get paid to be a fighter in war? What are the conditions like over there? What do you feel when you are engaged in combat? These are just SOME of the questions we will cover on tonights show.

Recently, I was invited to the video shoot of artist Pryslezz from King Ape Entertainment and did an interview with co-owner Nox. I love Nox because he always puts me up on game and gives me ALL the details about the business. In this interview, he spoke on how music videos work from start to finish which is good information for anyone who is going to walk this path. For this video the budget was $50,000. The video was produced by Melissa Ciampa’s company, Spittn Image and directed by Shawn “360″.

This was my 1st time ever being on a video shoot and it was very interesting to see how things went down and to then see how the final video came out. Here is the 2 part interview with Nox and then the finished video. If you like what you hear, check them out.

The world of acting is something we haven’t talked about yet on the show. It seems that music and acting go hand in hand these days. Get a record deal get a part in a movie. But for those of you that aren’t quite that far yet and are interested to know exactly what it is you need to do to land a role, even a small one like an extra Balyndah will be breaking it all down for us.

Its definitely a good way to meet people and also to earn some extra money. Balyndah Bumpus has been in the game for a while and has done casting for the who’s who in the industry. Most recently she has casted for BET’s new show Played By Fame.

The casting director is hired by the production company and is responsible for picking the talent to fill roles for the movie/tv show. They are the person you need to impress.

So what is it they are looking for? What do they expect from you when you go to an audition? Do you know how to properly present yourself to increase your chances of landing a role?

On the other side of things, maybe YOU want to be a casting director. Exactly how does one pull that off?

*In case you missed the LIVE show, you can still listen to it. Just click here and our assistant will direct you to the listening lounge

If you have ever attended a concert in Southern California, odds are that it was one of Sean Healy

If you have ever attended a concert in Southern California, odds are that it was one of Sean Healy’s events. He is a concert super promoter out of Los Angeles and has bought the music industries top artists to the stage to perform for their most loyal fans. In short, artists he has worked with include: DJ Quik, The Game, Xzibit, Dead Prez, Paul Wall, De La Soul, Eek-a-Mouse, Bishop Lamont, Too Short, Digital Underground, E-40, and Chingy. The list could go on and on.

The most interesting thing about Sean’s events is that he uses a method that some refer to as “pay to play” but preferably it is preselling advance tickets to get smaller, not as known artists to be the opening act for the headlining superstars. This puts a band with a small fanbase in front of a crowd of 100’s so that they have the opportunity to capture a new set of fans. Preselling advance tickets seems to get a bad rap by some and for others they think it is the best thing that could ever happen to them as performing artists.

The way it works is some promoters/venues may require the selling of pre-sale tickets in order for you to get a slot to perform and all the money collected from ticket sales would need to be surrendered prior to your performance. This is required so that the promoter/venue can be guaranteed a certain amount of people in attendance, therefore guaranteeing a profit for the night.

So basically as the opening act you are required to sell a certain amount of tickets to be able to perform. If you don’t sell the required amount, then you must pay out of your pocket to cover the non-sales, thus, paying to play. But if you do sell your tickets and maybe even a little bit more then you’re all good. You get to perform in front of a loyal audience that could all become YOUR loyal audience and you can make a little money on the flip side.

On the entrepreneural side of things, Sean started out as a hungry artist trying to find his way in LA like most. He survived on unemployment checks and held down a few of the dreaded 9-5 jobs just to support himself. He started off by throwing events in a small venue until one day he caught the attention of a more established promoter to work for the day doing some booking. From that point Sean discovered his niche in helping smaller artists perform for larger artists. The rest is history as we are living it…

TONIGHT AT 8 PM PST (10 PM CST/11 PM EST) Sean will be sitting down with Tiffany Janay and Malik on The Hip Hop Entrepreneur Show to share more of his story on being an entrepreneur and also working to bring musics top performers out for the night and of course giving us the pros and con’s of paying to play. DON”T MISS IT!!

Russell Simmons asked that media get this video out because it was banned from T.V. So here it is. The Peta ad. I think its hot and as a vegan, I’d have to say there is definitely truth to this commercial! Holla

Leave us your thoughts, do you think this video went too far? With all the crap on T.V. these days and subliminal messages constantly promoting sex, how is this too much? I think an episode of SpongeBob is way worse than this!

Tiffany Janay and Quik Man!! Where to start? Ok, I had the opportunity to first of all GO to Quik

Tiffany Janay and Quik

Man!! Where to start? Ok, I had the opportunity to first of all GO to Quik’s show but also to actually MEET and INTERVIEW him!! It’s crazy.

The show was called, Quik’s Groove, and it featured him with a live band. On a side note, let me just say that I love the concept of Hip Hop with a live band, it does something special to the whole experience, kind of makes it a little bit more classy.

Of course, Quik being the musical genius he is, made sure the entire experience was right on point. The sound was so captivating. The entire venue was surrounded by this sound, and it took over my soul. Yea, that serious lol.

I’m going to try and remember what his band consisted of but don’t quote. I think he had 2 keyboards, drums, horns, bass, and Quik worked the MPC throughout the show.

Aside from this incredible sound that they created together, I really loved how the show played out. During the interview Quik said that he never wanted to be an artist, it just happened because he, out of his whole crew, was the only one not afraid to step out of his comfort zone and do what needed to be done to get world wide recognition. So at the core of things, Quik really is a producer. At this show, thats exactly what he did.

Quik performed some of his songs but really the night was about him putting other people on, like a producer does. Throughout the night, several artists were blessed enough to rock with Quik and his band, Vagina. Quik would introduce the artist and then let them get up and do their thing.

A friend of mine, Don Ron from Zoolay has been telling me for a minute now to get up on Murs. I honestly just never did, didn’t seem too interested. I knew that if I was meant to know Murs, Murs would find me And he did! Quik bought him out on stage and this man ROCKED IT! I had no choice but to fall into his groove. He had so much passion and confidence. He did a few songs at a high level of intensity (you could tell being on stage was his home) and he never got winded. I love an artist that is in good shape, shows they are very serious about their craft.

So now I can officially say, I am a Murs fan. Thanks Don Ron and Quik for making it all possible

Aside from the actual performance, I have to say that the evening went perfectly. I got in with no problems, was able to do my interview with Quik, and seen a bomb ass show!! All of the staff I worked with including Quik and his manager Russ, were very professional and made me feel very comfortable.

The other exciting part of the night was seeing my boys from Zoolay get up there and open up for Quik. I met them through the HHE show and we have been great friends ever since. Its cool to see people grow and to really follow their journey. I’m very thankful for being able to do the show for that reason in particular. Congratulations Zoolay!!

So where’s the Quik interview??? I’m going to be broadcasting it LIVE on the show this week so make sure you tune in Wednesday at 8 PM PST. Quik laced us with soooooo much game. He even stopped himself a few times to say, “I’m giving you a lot of game right now”. Yes Quik, and we appreciate it. He’s a master in the game and a LEGEND. When he speaks, you MUST listen and take notes.

Thank you to all that made this night possible and perfect. Kadoety, I love you so much and appreciate you. You are always on time and right on point. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

See you guys at the show Wednesday!

While industry executives and shoppers will remember 2008 as the year the party ended, figure 2009 t

While industry executives and shoppers will remember 2008 as the year the party ended, figure 2009 to be the year of the hangover. Already, Circuit City, Linens ‘N Things and Mervyn’s stores are going away. Sharper Image is too, though the company will continue to sell some of its high-end gadgets through license agreements with other retailers.

More pain is on the way. One-third of U.S. women recently surveyed by America’s Research Group said they plan no clothing purchases–none–in 2009. Normally, it’s just 4%. That means the market is still far too saturated with stores.

Expect closings and bankruptcies to rattle the likes of Lane Bryant, Gap, and Starbucks. It’s the inevitable counterpunch to the days of retailers fighting hand over fist for market share during an era of loose credit and minuscule interest rates.

Those days are over, probably for a long time. While accelerating unemployment will only last so long, consumers’ debt loads and credit access don’t figure to recover to pre-party levels for quite awhile.

“I don’t think we will live the same way for 10 years,” says Howard Davidowitz, chairman of New York-based retail consultant and investment bank Davidowitz & Associates. “People are so scared they’re starting to save.”

Retailers at risk in 2009, he thinks, include outerwear specialist Eddie Bauer and teen-apparel-seller Pacific Sunwear, along with Zales, the big jewelry chain. All three shuttered at least 8% of their U.S. stores last year, with many more closings expected. The same is largely true of Charming Shoppes, the owner of Lane Bryant, which closed 150 stores last year. With a mountain of debt and losses totaling over $260 million over the most recent 12-month reporting period, the company will close another 100 locations this year.

Another possible casualty: Sears Holdings, operator of Sears and Kmart stores. A key to hedge fund manager Eddie Lampert’s 2005 merger of the two chains was in the underlying real estate. But with those values down 30% or so since then, slumping sales hit even worse.

“I’d be surprised if Sears-Kmart makes it through the year,” says Britt Beemer, who runs retail market-research firm America’s Research Group.

Non-apparel specialists like Starbucks and Sprint Nextel won’t be going away, but they will close hundreds more stores during the coming year, Davidowitz predicts. Narrow specialties (Sprint’s cellphones) and high prices (Starbucks’ coffee) are tough sells as the consumer mood turns thrifty. What plagues Starbucks will also affect other upscale goody chains like Mrs. Fields’ Cookies, and causal dining outlets like Applebee’s and Cheesecake Factory. Any of the neighborhood outlets for those restaurant chains could be a casualty this year. For too many customers now, it’s McDonald’s or bust.

Davidowitz doesn’t think a huge government stimulus will help. Better to let things bottom out naturally before regrouping. “Obama’s plan will make it worse,” he says. “We got into this by borrowing and stimulating, now he wants to borrow and stimulate more.”

To me, this represents new life. Where there is death, there is a new birth. Perception is reality. If you perceive the economy as bad then that will be your reality. But there is another side to that. For years we have been plagued by big business and this has turned into a consumerism society. Everything has become about profit and smaller businesses have been forced out of business.

Now that the larger companies are going under it actually is good news because it is making way for the “boot-strap” entrepreneur’s.

Regardless of how you feel about this, its happening anyways. It is in best interest to accept it and find your place in the new world. Be the one giving birth to the new life.
