Tonight is the first night in a while where I have gone cold turkey…no crown whatsoever in me. I’m enjoying a couple of nights home before I’m off to “work” again.

Before I get into future happenings, I’d like to point out that the show in Atlanta @ Echo Park was amazing. Unfortunately, we got cut by the sound guy at exactly 2am, even though the tent was still packed with “green” (see hippie) kids yelling “one more” for a good 15 minutes straight. Needless to say, they never did get one more.

The CMJ show at Studio B w/ Mstrkrft/Z-trip was probably even crazier. And that is when I noticed that I am somewhat living the life of a rapper. I don’t want to state exactly how many bottles of crown are gone through each night because it’s really an absurd number.

I know I listed a couple of dates on the last post and I’m actually correcting a few things. But for the latest in shows, just go to the myspace page.

So there was this video of me in Tijuana….

I’ve gotten quite numerous responses about what song I’m playing while the dangerous pyrotechnics was happening. The track is called Coup d’etat. It is the Hook n Sling remix. Original artist is Syndey’s own, Bass Kleph.

As an act of kindness (and possibly just tired of answering the same question), I’ve decided to post this one.

Tomas Andersson’s, Washing Up was about on every dj’s playlist last year…specifically Tiga’s take on it. Well for ‘07 Skint records has re-released it, this time including a Tim Deluxe remix. The remix mostly adds some major percussion and some nice marching snare buildups.

Если ты хоть раз слышал песенку The Prodigy “Smack My Bitch Up“, то никогда не забудешь необычайно красивый напев в исполнении индийской красавицы Shahin Badar. А ведь кроме этого много ещё чего интересного и полезного сделала эта космополитичная певица.

Родившись в Англии в семье индо-пакистанцев, она своё детство провела в Кувейте, где она и начала петь ещё в школе, выигрывать различные конкурсы и развивать свои вокальные данные. Пребывание в этой стране оставило отпечаток на манеру пения Shahin и позволило ей удачно совмещать в своём творчестве арабские и индийские мотивы.

Вернувшись в Англию, она сразу же стала выступать в различных шоу в Лондоне и выпустила свою первую запись “Jind Mariye” спродюссированную Taz из Stereo Nation. Трек занял 4 место в UK Bhangra и помог ей познакомиться с продюсером Kuljit Bhamra. Он помог Shahin в написании её первого альбома “Destiny“, выпущенного в 1996 году.

А уже в следующем, 1997 году, работа с The Prodigy принесла небывалый успех. “Smack My Bitch Up” заняла 8 место в британском топе, альбом “The Fat Of The Land” поднялся не вершину, причем не только в Великобритании, а в целых 21 стране. В 2004 году Shahin Badar продолжила удачное сотрудничество с The Prodigy, приняв участие в записи трека “Get Up Get Off” для следующего их альбома “Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned“.

А в промежутке она сотрудничала с множеством других музыкантов, её вокал, например, можно услышать на треках Indian Ropeman “66 Metres“, Jah Wobble & Temple Of Sound “Hayat“, Cuts Oblique “Inhibition” и на очень красивом и энергичном треке от Tim Deluxe “Mundaya“. Её вокал можно услышать на соундтреках к более чем 50 фильмов и ТВ шоу, включая Closer, Charlie’s Angels, Nikita, Second Generation, Yuva и Zubeidaa. Она чрезвычайна популярна в Южной Азии, список её различных наград включает Asian Pop Awards Best Female Vocalist и двойную номинацию на Asian Women Of Achievement Awards Arts & Culture. А свою растущую популярность она использует, выступая с множеством концертов в поддержку различных благотворительных организаций.

В последнее время Shahin Badar работает над своим новым сольным альбомом, и уже выпустила несколько новых своих песен, вроде “Yeh Rog” и “Light At The End Of The Tunnel“, видео которых вы сможете посмотреть чуть дальше. В преддверии ожидающегося Sensation White в Риге я решил написать серию статей посвященных всем участникам этого грандиозного события. И первым в моем списке оказался очень интересный музыкант, известный как Tim Deluxe.

На самом деле его зовут Tim Liken и у него очень интересная история восхождения на вершины музыкального Олимпа. В 14 лет он, в рамках осуществления своей мечты стать всемирно известным диджеем, устроился в один из музыкальных магазинов Лондона. Там он познакомился с CJ Makintosh, который очень помог ему, организовав его первое диджейское выступление в самом Ministry Of Sound.

В 1994 году он встретился с дизайнером Omar Amidora и владельцем hardcore лейбла “Boogie Beat” Andy Lysandrou. Объединённые своей страстью к музыки они решили создать свой собственный лейбл Ice Cream Records. А в 1997 году Tim вместе с Omar Amidora организовал проект Double 99 и выпустил свою первую пластинку “RIP Groove“, которая стала классикой speed garage и последовавшего стиля 2 step. Через пару лет в 2001 году они смогли выпустить свой первый и единственный совместный альбом “7th High“, в разработке которого им помогли Sneaker Pimps, Lisa Milltet, Victoria Horn и Byron Stingily. Кроме этого c 1995 по 200 Tim Deluxe выпустил на лейбле Cross Section Records серию пластинок под названием “An American Adventure” и “Moments“.

К 2001 году Tim Deluxe решает заняться своей сольной карьерой. Его первая пластинка “Sirens” очень понравилась Darren Emerson, который только что покинул Underworld и решил заняться своим лейблом Underwater. Подписавшись на этот лейбл, Тим в следующем году выпускает свой самый успешный хит “It Just Won’t Do“. Латино ритм и вокал от Sam Obernik взорвали Зимнюю Конференцию в Майами, а затем разошлись по всему миру. Песня даже заняла 14 место в английском топе.

К Tim Deluxe наконец-то пришла заслуженная слава. Он играет многочисленные выступления по всему миру, выпускает совместно с Darren Emerson первую компиляцию для его лейбла “Underwater: Episode One“. Он создает ремиксы на Kylie Minogue “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head“, Rui Da Silva “Touch Me“, Lo-Fidelity Allstars “Sleeping Faster“, Basement Jaxx “Do Your Thing” и “Good Luck“, а его ремикс на “Love Story” от Layo & Bushwacka помог синглу занять 8 место в английском топе.

В 2003 году Tim выпускает свой первый сольный альбом “The Little Ginger Club Kid” и несколько успешных синглов с этого альбома – “Less Talk More Action” с Terra Deva, мой самый любимый его трек “Mundaya” c вокалом от Shahin Badar, и вдохновленную творчеством Underworld “Choose Something Like A Star” с вокалом Ben Onono. Этот альбом показал, насколько разнообразен талант Tim Deluxe, что он может создавать, как успешные хаус хиты, так и работать с элементами latino, bhangra и techno. Он даже занялся переработкой рок классики, и создал успешные переделки хитов “Seven Nation Army” от White Stripes, “God Put A Smile On My Face” от Coldplay и “Song 2” от Blur.

Затем Tim Deluxe совсем отошёл от производства хаус музыки, основал собственный лейбл AT Records, и начал снова экспериментировать. Результатом стало несколько андерграундных хитов – рок-электро в “I Don’t Care Of You” с вокалом от Sam Obernik, массивная “Bass Phenomenon” c Krafty Kuts, deep techno в “Espoos Rose” и самое последнее его детище “Let The Beats Roll“. В производстве этого трека принял участие Simon Franks из Audio Bullys, и этот трек уже успел заслужить титул “Essential New Tune” у Pete Tong и сейчас начал понемногу расходиться по всему миру. А уже в сентябре 2007 года ожидается выпуск второго альбома от Tim Deluxe под названием “Ego Death“. Так что нас ожидает очередная порция интересных шедевров.

As most of you may know by know my gig in Juarez, Mexico had to be rescheduled. Basically there was no way my plane (or any other plane for that matter) could get me from Miami to Juarez on time that day. The gig is now re-scheduled for April 21st. Also, I’ll be playing Chicago and Milwaukee second week of May.

As far as new tracks go, I’ve been a bit quite but slowly working on a few different things. Silence is golden…atleast for a little bit.

Para One’s, Midnight Swim, gets a reworking by a few on his latest 12″. Some of you may have heard the nostalgic-sounding Surkin mix (sirens and all). But not til about a week ago did I come across the Riton Rerub. The Rerub has surprising arrangements and thankfully keeps the original breakdown of Midnight Swim.
