* warning: cat story ahead *

This is a tale of two cats, Tuxedo and Gidget. Tuxedo was a neutered, male black and white cat that I adopted at about 10 weeks old from a semi-feral litter. He was the floor traffic director around the house, the playtime toy timer, and otherwise kind of a control freak when it came to Gidget. He often hissed at her for no reason, swatted at her, and generally wanted her to go away.

Gidget is a neutered (formerly feral) 3 year old tabby. She never really paid attention to Tux other than to stay out of his way. Even if he swatted her and hissed, she shrugged it off.

I suspect the tension started because Gidget found herself inside just a few short weeks before she came into season for the first time. Tux tried his best to take care of the situation, but he came up missing some important bits of equipment. I saw this frustrate him a couple of times, and if I recall correctly, that’s when the swatting started. I got Gidget fixed as soon as I could afford it, but Tux had already had enough.

Tux has been sick for the past couple of years, slowly losing a battle with cardiomyopathy – probably due to feline leukemia. He finally passed away on Friday, Dec 11 this year – only 7 years old. I buried him in the yard right after I got home from work that day.

It was kind of a relief that Tux was finally gone, in a way. It’s hard watching a someone – human or not – struggle.

The next day I was feeding Gidget (about 4:30pm), and for a treat – hey let’s have some tuna fish! I took some of my food to the table while Gidget went face down into her plate. I’ve never seen her go more than 5 feet from a plate of tuna – no matter what may happen to distract her. She’s an absolutely greedy little pig at dinner.

On my way back to the kitchen from the table, I was teasing her, asking if she missed Tux. Yeah, I wasn’t expecting a reply… But, I felt a rush of something like vertigo, and a tingling around my legs. Gidget looked up, and bugged out across the front room and dashed upstairs in about five steps. She hid. I took some food up that was eaten later, but I still don’t know where she hid that night. I saw her briefly once, around 11pm and she had quietly come up onto my bed by 3am.

I did not see or hear anything. No evidence to dissect, and no way to repeat the experiment exactly. Just… odd. So I have to admit that I may be one notch less skeptical about animal entities. To be honest, I would have dismissed it completely if I had not had an odd sensation at the exact time Gidget got spooked. Cats, like people, are not always predictable. So what if she decided to eat dinner later? Would I have really noticed anything?

This takes me back a year. I did an investigation last winter for the sister of a friend. They reported a lot of dog-like shadows especially outside, activity around the doggie door, and a visible white dog apparition in the hallway. Well, I couldn’t duplicate the dog-like shadows. I didn’t see any apparitions. I tracked some of the doggie door noises to some stuff getting blown around by the airflow when the furnace kicked on. There were other issues reported as well, but I wasn’t finding anything resembling evidence. I left it as an incomplete investigation, and their activity died down over the spring / summer.

Now I’m not so sure about all of that. I know something happened right here, but even if I had some evidence, would it really prove anything? I didn’t really doubt the possibility of an animal presence, but I’ve certainly not experienced one for myself until now.

Comments? What similar stories do you have to tell?

Mario And Luigi- These two are always decked out in red and green. Mario red, Luigi green. By themselves they are not that festive, but together they are. And Luigi needs more credit.

Link- Always in green garb, and i mean always. Also, his hat looks like a green Santa hat. He is very festive

And lets not forget…

Yes, look at him, with both Red and Green. He’s the most festive of all!

[The Best Thing - Relient K]

I won’t go into detail about Sorrento yet, even though I do want to be the first person to post it. But right now I’m just extremely tired and burnt (yes, the burns on my shoulders – which I’ll go into detail about later – are now tingling). I just want to veg out and catch up on episodes I missed this week. Although I’ve done my fair share of vegging and eating junk food (don’t get me started on how much we ate…yet).

So perhaps tonight. And I have to upload some pictures from my camera as well (didn’t take as many as I planned. I just feel that without Carmaine the camera seems out of place. But with Carmaine the camera just seems natural to be out at all times. Am I weird?)

Be right back, after my back be right. And my feet. Oh god my feet.

Alex.

This last trip was something else, and it has taken awhile to get everything in order to post an upd

This last trip was something else, and it has taken awhile to get everything in order to post an update. Most notably, our stuff from the states finally arrived. The outline of this trip was south to Margaret River then continuing to Denmark and Albany, heading eastward to Esperance, north to Kalgoorlie and finally driving west to home. All in all, it was just incredible. The diversity of landscapes in WA is just astounding. It goes from pristine beaches to red desert to massive forests. We saw it all this time around. And on top of all that, the wildflowers were in full bloom. We saw more wild orchids this trip than we had seen on any of the previous wildflower hunting trips.

On the way to Margaret River, (the major wine center in WA) we stopped at Cape Leeuwin-Naturaliste national park. This park is over 100 km long and runs from one cape to the other. When you look at a map of Australia, it is the snout in the south west corner. The weather wasn’t the best, but the sun came out for the dramatic shot above. At this lookout, we spotted seals swimming and hanging out on rocks below. Unfortunately, they were too far away for any good close-up shots. It was great to see them in the wild though. The weather was drizzly on and off the entire time we were in Margaret River. This wasn’t a big deal, as we were popping into wineries the 3 days we were there.

We stayed in a couple of B&B’s at the beginning of this trip. They were really quite nice. One of them had more orchids around than we saw anywhere else before. Margaret River was quite different than we expected. It’s sort of WA’s version of Napa Valley. It has over 120 wineries of all sizes and types from traditional red and white grape wines to honey wine, fruit wine and specialists in Port. One of the nice things about tasting wine here is, there is absolutely no pressure to buy at the cellar door. This was quite unexpected for us. Instead, they give you order forms which you can use to purchase later after you’ve found the wine you like. That being said, we did end up coming back with more bottles than we had planned on. Too many tasty things. When you’re tasting at least 5 wines per winery including their $80-$100 bottles, it was hard to turn away with nothing. After enjoying 12 wineries, we then found plenty of other things to do.

At Hamelin Bay, (just down the road from some wineries) we were able to watch manta rays swimming from the beach. First and foremost, they were HUGE. If the weather was better, we would have gone snorkeling. It was a bit too cool for that though. Another major attraction of the area are the limestone caves. We decided to check out Lake cave, which actually has a lake at the bottom of it.

And when we were tired of spending time underground, there is a forest of large trees on top of the cave system to enjoy a 21 km scenic drive through the Boranup Forest. It was great to see big trees again and hear all the native birds in the forest. To give you a idea of just how massive these trees are, consider the shrub growth in the photo below was between 8 and 10 feet tall.

This next photo was taken where the Margaret River dumps into the sea.

After far too few days, it was time to head on. We continued to the quaint town of Augusta for a really tasty steak and Guinness pie and a walk at another beach. That was the best bakery we have eaten at so far since we’ve arrived here. Augusta is where Cape Leeuwin ends on the south side at the Leeuwin lighthouse.

The next portion of this trip took us inland through more forests with even larger trees. The size of these trees are on par with the redwoods back home. On the way, we stopped at a few parks to see what they had to offer. The Beedelup falls were interesting, but we had fun with the suspension bridge below.

The next town we passed through was Pemberton, which has the infamous Gloucester tree. This is a 60 meter high fire tree which you climb by going up metal stakes driven into the tree trunk. For safety’s sake, they have driven in another set just above the ones you use as a ladder to help keep you from falling off. It was a lot of fun to climb. Apparently, less than 20% of the visitors to this tree actually climb all the way to the top. Naturally, I had to. No, Em didn’t go, but she made sure I had my life insurance policy updated before she let me climb. There were parrots almost hand tamed nearby in the park, which would swoop down and steal your food. It was entertaining to watch. One of the locals gave Em a couple peanut butter crackers, so she could enjoy the birds on her shoulder while she fed them. Quite sneaky little creatures!

Since Em can’t stand ever passing up an opportunity to visit another beach, we drove to the very secluded area to Windy Harbour. It was definitely worth the drive. The town itself was a very small, isolated beach/fishing town. No services there of any kind, so make sure you have food and gas if you go. There were trails taking you up onto coastal cliffs with spectacular views of D’Entrecasteaux national park.

It was getting late, so we hit the road making sure we got to our campsite before the campground closed for the night. The caravan parks typically close between 1730 an 1800. It was a long shot. As it got later, we risked losing our campsite, since we were also starving, and found a quaint little tavern for dinner. Also, the likelihood of finding dinner elsewhere was rapidly decreasing. It turned out to be a good decision to stop. The burger was, to use an Australian expression, beautiful. Then with full bellies, we continued on very slowly to avoid the throngs of crazed suicidal roos. The drive was extremely stressful, but somehow we made it to the caravan park without incident. We even managed to check-in, when we luckily ran into the person in charge of the campground leaving the office. This campsite was rather nice with kookaburras waking us up by 5am for the next 2 mornings. The only bird I’ve heard that is more entertaining is the loon which, frankly speaking, is eerie when heard while camping on an island in the middle of a huge lake. This campsite is in Walpole, WA.

In the morning, we went for a walk around a low hill called Mount Burnett, where we saw a huge variety of orchids. Those pictures will be in a later blog, as there are just too many pictures for this entry already. While exploring the region, we saw a huge red Tingle tree. A characteristic feature of these trees is a trunk hollowed out by fire. As time goes on, leaves and dead branches build up around the base, which then burn through the living bark of the tree during wildfire season. It doesn’t kill the tree, as it only happens on one side. These hollowed out trunks get large enough to park a car in (which you can’t do because their root system is very shallow and can even be damaged by people walking on the ground around them). I thought the fern growing in the trunk was interesting.

Walpole had a lot to offer with beautiful overlooks and scenic drives. Em’s favorite part of this trip was a stop at the famous “Valley of the Giants”, a 600 metre tree canopy walk above these impressive Tingle trees. In fact, we enjoyed this walk so much that we walked the canopy twice! If you’re afraid of heights, this is not the walk for you, as the bridge swayed a bit as you walked through.

After thoroughly exploring as much of this region as we could, we continued onto Albany. On the way, we stopped at Elephant Rocks and Green Pool at William Bay National Park in Denmark. I found this beach to be the most interesting one yet. You walk down a hill, then through a narrow cleft in the rocks onto a small sandy beach which has impressive granite boulders strewn in the shallow pool. We spent quite a bit of time here.

The next stop was Albany. It was really a nice town. Middleton Beach is well worth the stop if you are into collecting seashells. This beach is covered with intact scallop shells in great condition. The campground we stayed at was only feet from the surf. It made sleeping in our tent quite pleasant. One night we even stayed up so we could enjoy the sound of the surf with wine and assorted meats/cheeses. Albany has a couple of huge harbors with high hills around it offering great panoramic views of the town and harbors.

Just north of Albany there is the Stirling Range. We had to detour out an extra 200km to enjoy them. They were kind of interesting.

After the range, we drove to Bremer Bay to enjoy a pristine white beach with turquoise water. The sand actually squeaks when you walk on it. Kind of crazy.

The next stop was Esperance. The Caravan park we stayed at this time wasn’t the best. Serviceable, but I think we would shop around next time. Esperance was what we imagined Dampier to be. There are lots of islands not far off the coast, so you can see them clearly just about every direction you look. There was a coastal tour we drove along with many stunning lookouts.

We only spent one night here, then were on our way to Kalgoorlie. That town was absolutely amazing. Tons of food options and quite a bit of history. I have to say it was our favorite “small town” in WA to visit as a tourist. We wish Geraldton had the same number and quality of food options. We had to stop off and see the “SuperPit”, where they continue to mine for gold. It is one massive hole in the ground. And a stop in Kalgoorlie just isn’t complete without a tour of one of the historic brothels. It was educational.

Originally, we were planning to drive north to Sandstone then back home, but decided last minute that we wanted to see the road between Kalgoorlie and Perth. But before we began the long drive home, we decided to make a small (~3 hour) detour to Menzies and see the internationally renowned 51 outback aboriginal sculptures displayed on Lake Ballard. I highly recommend it to anyone who is out this way. It was quite thought provoking.

On the way out of Kalgoorlie, we saw a sign for the historic 2 up bush casino. Another one of those have to see spots. After a short drive through the bush, we came to the “casino”. It was obviously still in use to some extent. 2up is a game here where they place 2 coins on a piece of wood and fling them high in the air. You bet on how they land. I haven’t seen the official rules, but I saw it being played once. Kind of crazy.

On the way into Perth,we detoured to pass through York. It was described to us as a quaint old town with lots of antique shops. It was certainly quaint, but there wasn’t much to offer for anything other than interesting architecture. It’s about an hour east of Perth. The one redeeming thing was the old mill which has been converted into a fabulous 4 story art gallery.

After that, a stopover for the night outside of Perth and onto home. This entry is more than long enough and we didn’t go into much detail compared to what we could have. If anyone is interested in more info about any portion of the trip, let us know. These were just the highlights of what we did.

It’s almost Halloween, and there’s nothing scarier than a Halloween without candy. In fact, it’s even scarier than a man in a tingle mask chasing you. Well, maybe not that scary, but a very close second. So after you get all your candy, see if you have any of these yummy treats.

Kit-Kat bars- These things are highly tasty and sought after. Getting these is great. Yum.

M&M’s- These everybody on the face of the planet likes. I mean really they do. Just try to find someone who doesn’t. you can’t.

Smarties- Everybody loves Smarties, except Canadians, who love Rockets. These things taste so good, so eat them.

Of course, other candies to try to find are Snickers, Milky ways, Three stooges, Bubble Double, Nerds, Milk Duds, Laffy Taffy, Hershey Bars, Crunch Bars, hot tamales, Shockers, and so forth.

This list is very Incomplete, but will make a good check list. As long as you get one of each, you should be good, at least until next year.

Hi! I’m Lefty, Scott’s left butt cheek, and it has always been my choice to live a life

Hi! I’m Lefty, Scott’s left butt cheek, and it has always been my choice to live a life of freedom. But as I grow older I have come to the realization that I’m missing out on a lot of things that life has to offer.

Now, I’m not saying that the life I live today is not a good one. Quite the contrary, I thoroughly enjoy my life. I can bare all when I feel like it, and don’t have to ask permission. When I’m feeling sensitive I can wrap myself in a nice pair of jeans! And I’ve got my best friend Righty with my all the time! It’s just that a best friend is only a best friend. Sure, Righty and I just blow with the wind whenever we feel a breeze and have really grown attached to each other over the years, but it would be nice to cuddle cheek-to-cheek with someone else, you know? To leave an imprint on the world with someone new. And, hey, a guy needs a little slap and tickle now and then to really feel alive! Righty just can’t provide that! Even something as simple as a warm palm in my pocket as we walk the boardwalk would be nice. I want the simple things in life. To be fondled while shaking it on the dance floor. The amorous pinch that makes me tingle with excitement. Maybe even the feeling of little hands hanging from my pocket! I just need something new. I need something fresh!

So, maybe freedom has been my choice up until now, but I think that’s changed. I still need a buddy! That goes without saying. Righty and I will always be close, but, in the end, I think I need more. I need more then just someone to bum around with. I need someone that is sweet, yet firm. Someone that can help carry the load and yet soft enough to cushion the blows when we get knocked down. Someone that I can just shoot the shit with and that won’t get all uptight when I’m a little cheeky!

I guess I’m just looking love.

Is that too much to ask? Or am I just making an ass of myself?

Still single,

Lefty

Barnarby from the office and Barnaby’s Barmy V Army are heading to the fest to cause all kinds of fucking mayhem.

Quick review – Shirt or polo underneath makes up for lack of collar. Having a slogan on the back is fucking essential for a quality tee. Make sure there is a different slogan for each one. This one reads ‘Dingle knows how to make you tingle’.

Other ones Barnaby has made include ‘Ash will open your gash’.

Wind up cock on the front is amazing and NOT QUEER.

In the new Irodzuki Tingle no Koi no Balloon Trip from Nintendo, Tingle is on a new quest but he’s not in the hunt for rupees. No, the green-spandex-wearing jester in the mood for love (with the opposite sex) and we think he’s going to find it. With a world of lovely women to choose from, Tingle lays it all on the line and musters up all of his best qualities to find a wife. Some of Tingle’s strengths include Manliness, Masculinity, Wealth, Light-footed fleetness, and a fashion sense befitting of kings.
As always, traveling allows for a very elusive and aloof attitude towards men, you’re busy, yo

As always, traveling allows for a very elusive and aloof attitude towards men, you’re busy, your not staying and most of all it means romance, passion, indulgence and most of all late night walks in scenery that makes your senses tingle.

This will be a short post as I am currently in the Mediteranean for a few weeks, but I have to share, there is something to be wined and dined and long romantic walks (that my stillettos would never consider in the city), hair wild and having not scene a blowdryer or iron, a glowing tan and an absence of a blackberry that leads to something that just feel lighter.

One of my favorite things about the Mediteranean and Middle East is the men. The dark stares that lock your eyes across a room, the fresh spices and scents that fill the air, the macho-ness and masculinity that makes a woman feel feminine without so much as a touch.

One of the men I met on my travels and spent hours giggling over gelato and long walks through parks and cobblestone streets was charming as hell walked me to a bar playing only Dylan tunes and presented his ID as we entered, and I did a double take. He was five years younger than me, making it so in the states that ID would’ve had to be fake.

I started to come up with excuses to head home, too much sun, I wanted to be a tourist in the morning ect, but this young man – man because he carried himself as more of a man than many successful city boys do, with more conviction and self confidence then many I’ve encountered recently – and convinced me to stay for a drink.

Maybe I should’ve followed some friends leads when they started finding younger and younger men, instead of sticking with my older established hotties and finding merely a month younger to be out of character.

It may be a little “Lipstick Jungle” but I am glad I did; wandering back to my hotel after 4am nothing took place beyond a few simple stolen kisses on beautiful old sidestreets and a lot of laughter and I realize its the best, and most uncomplicated, time I’ve had with a man in quite a while.

A touch so light only the lingering tingle lets you know it happened.

A porch filled with the scent of lilacs, rich and heady, almost overpowering in its sweetness yet lacking that final note which would leave cloying as the adjective of choice stuck in my head. A porch smelling of early summer in need of a fresh apple pie on the cool.

Spending more time here. More time now. Allowing less space for doubt, worry and anxiety and more for joy, contentment, acceptance.

Recently, Chris Matthews’ sensitive, self-aware limb pronounced that “a wise, doughy leg

Recently, Chris Matthews’ sensitive, self-aware limb pronounced that “a wise, doughy leg with rich tingly experiences will always reach better conclusions than will a more tanned, muscular leg that hasn’t felt those thrills.”

This is why The Leg gave its most vigorous endorsement to Sonia Sotomayor for SCOTUS today. “I think the President (high approval ratings be upon him) made a brilliant choice,” The Leg enthused. “Empathy rules! We need justices who won’t allow themselves to be constricted by trivialities like the actual words of the Constitution or the intent of elected lawmakers. We need judges who will make rulings based on whom they feel sorriest for.”

Some state troopers and family members gathered to remember the life of James Hillman Tingle.

Some state troopers and family members gathered to remember the life of James Hillman Tingle.

“He didn’t get to serve but one month,” said Martha Neal, the sister of Tingle.

Tingle, a slain Mississippi State Trooper that didn’t live to receive his uniform.

“He and his buddy were checking driver’s licenses and a fellow run up and hit the patrol car and shoved another up into him and broke his legs and from that he took phenomena and few days he died,” Neal said.`

Tingle’s sister Martha Neal, her husband and sister-in-law say he won’t be forgotten and his deeds, along with other patrolmen around this state will not go unnoticed. Mrs.Neal says her brother was following in the footsteps of their father that once served as the Neshoba County Deputy Sheriff. Tingle was 27 when he died in 1950. Mrs. Neal says she’s only missed one ceremony for the past three decades.

“Well everyday they lay their lives down for us and this is the least we can do for them; to let them know we miss them and love them and wish the best for the other patrolmen,” Neal said.

Public Affairs Officer, Sergeant Malachi Sanders says Tingle is one of three troopers honored from the Meridian district that covers nine counties. The other two men were from Smith County. Sgt. Sanders says these troopers paid the ultimate sacrifice and this ceremony was a small token of appreciation.

“To sacrifice your life for someone or a group of people is an honor and a good thing,” said Sgt. Malachi Sanders of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

“I think we should be all thankful that we have somebody watching and protecting us,” Neal said.
