The snowman was made from two tin beads used to calibrate electron microscope astigmatism. The eyes and smile were milled using a focused ion beam, and the nose, which is under 1 [micrometer] wide (or 0.001 mm), is ion beam deposited platinum.A nanomanipulation system was used to assemble the parts ‘by hand’ and platinum deposition was used to weld all elements together. The snowman is mounted on a silicon cantilever from an atomic force microscope whose sharp tip ‘feels’ surfaces creating topographic surveys at almost atomic scales.

Amilla   Born at just 22 weeks

A girl born after just under 22 weeks in the womb – among the shortest gestation periods known for a live birth – will remain in a hospital a few extra days as a precaution, officials said. Amillia Taylor, who weighed less than 10 ounces (283 grams), had been expected to be sent home this week. However, routine tests indicated she was vulnerable to infection, said Dr. Paul Fassbach, who has cared for the baby since shortly after she was born. “She has been fine,” Fassbach said, but doctors are being extra cautious “now that she’s going into the world.”

Doctors say she is the first baby known to have survived after a gestation of fewer than 23 weeks. But full-term births usually come after 37 to 40 weeks. Amillia was just 9 1/2 inches long and weighed less than 10 ounces when she was delivered by Caesarean section. She now weighs 4 1/2 pounds. She has suffered respiratory and digestive problems, as well as a mild brain hemorrhage, but doctors believe the health concerns will not have major long-term effects. “Her prognosis is excellent,” said Dr. Paul Fassbach, who has cared for Amillia since her second day. Amillia was conceived in vitro and has been in an incubator since birth. She will continue to receive a small amount of supplemental oxygen even after she goes home.

Her parents Sonja and Eddie, from Homestead, Florida, were visiting friends in Miami when Mrs Taylor went into labour at just over 19 weeks pregnant, having conceived by IVF. Doctors attempted to delay the birth but eventually were forced to carry out an emergency caesarean. Amillia Taylor weighed just under 10oz and was only 91/2 inches long at birth

Dr Guillermo Lievano, who delivered Amillia, said he was not expecting her to survive. “I was prepared for the worst and prepared to break the bad news to the mother.” Amillia responded to treatment, however. During two months in an incubator, she even had plastic surgery after her left ear was partially torn off during the delivery. “I’m still in amazement,” said Mrs Taylor, 37, a teacher. “I wanted her to have a chance and I knew in my heart that she was going to make it. “It was hard to imagine she would get this far. But now she is beginning to look like a real baby. Even though she’s only 4lb now, she’s plump to me.”

William Smalling, neo-natologist at Baptist Children’s Hospital in Miami, said: “She’s truly a miracle baby. We didn’t even know what a normal blood pressure is for a baby this small.” Amillia’s incredible story will reignite the debate over Britain’s abortion laws, which campaigners say must be updated in the light of recent medical advances. Babies can still be aborted for non-medical reasons at up to 24 weeks. Recent evidence shows that, of those born at 25 weeks, half of them manage to live.

Women touched by cancer bare all in calendar inspired by classic paintings

A group of women who have all been affected by cancer have stripped off for a calendar which recreates poses from famous works of art.The calendar, which recreates the Sir Joshua Reynolds painting Portrait of Lucy Smith, is a variant on the Calendar Girls project of 2000 which led to the film starring Helen Mirren.Organisers even met with the original Calendar Girls to take advice and have come up with the Housewives In Art calendar based on females who have featured in paintings through history.

Most are nude but have their modesty protected and it has received the thumbs-up by the original Women’s Institute members from Yorkshire who said it was the best they had seen. June’s pin-up Lady Derby, who is the wife of 19th Earl of Derby, said: ‘I feel privileged to be included in this incredible group of women, each of whom in their own way has courageously fought the very real horrors of cancer. I have nothing but admiration for their strength and bravery. ‘Historically, the Countesses of Derby have been strong and dynamic women and I feel huge admiration and pride that I am able to add my name to this list of inspirational females.’ The project was the brainchild of mother-of-four Sharon Harper, 41 and was photographed by Andrew John Photography.It also features the stories of the women who have posed for the pictures and all proceeds will go to Cancer Research.Sharon, who has lost an uncle and a sister-in-law to the disease, recreated Edgar Degas’ After The Bath for December, said: ‘The women who feature in this calendar have all been scarred by the disease. ‘Some on the inside, some more visibly on the outside. But they cast aside their nerves and insecurities to pose for the calendar and look absolutely amazing.

‘I’m so proud of them and I would like to thank everybody who has taken part and supported us. ‘Hopefully it’s going to inspire people going through it and give them hope. It was really emotional reading though all the stories. Because we got so many entries that we loved we decided to use 15 women instead of the usual 12, so it will run from December this year until February 2011.

‘Apparently it has been done before a long time ago but we thought we’d be a bit different. People talk about cancer a lot but when you actually read stories like that, it’s a lot more personal. The women are absolutely amazing and the experience has opened my eyes.’Jo Johnson lost her husband George to liver cancer just 11 weeks after he was diagnosed. The 66-year-old, who poses as the women in the Franz Von Stuck work Sin, said: ‘George died 14 years ago, but it’s still very hurtful.’He had been to a specialist twice in two-and-a-half years because he’d been having trouble with his bowels but they didn’t pick up on it until it reached his liver and by then it was too late. He died two weeks before Christmas.’

Diane Hudson took part in memory of her mother Barbara Baker, who died of breast cancer five years ago.

The 41-year-old, who posed as the Angel Of Evil in Antoine Wiertz’s painting, said: ‘She didn’t know that she had it. I used to say to her to get a check-up after she turned 50 but she died and it was only then that we found out she was riddled with cancer.’ Pauline Robinson saw the effects of cancer when her aunt and uncle both died from the disease, leaving five children behind, aged 10 to 15. The 43-year-old, who is a healthcare worker, and recreates Fracois Boucher’s Girl Reclining painting, said: ‘My auntie and uncle both died of cancer within a few years of each other. They left five children orphaned. ‘I had to tell their children their mother had died. Their pain and suffering was unbearable. It was a long, hard emotional and financial struggle. ‘I want to go to bed at night knowing that I have done something that will help other families.’It was really good because even though I was thinking of my lumps and bumps, I knew what I was doing was going to raise a lot of money so it was worth it.’ Photographer Andrew said: ‘The whole experience for me has been inspiring, from listening to all their stories to them being brave enough to go naked and saying “Wow, is that me?” when they saw the final result. I lost my mother to cancer and I am sure, like me, everyone will connect with the stories.’

Smallest orchid in the world found by accident

Botanists who have just discovered a new flower in Ecuador can be forgiven for having missed it until now. The world’s smallest orchid is just 2.1mm wide, with transparent petals that are just one cell thick. It comes from the Platystele genus, which is made up of mostly miniature plants.American scientist Lou Jost found the tiny flower by accident among the roots of a larger plant that he had collected from the Cerro Candelaria reserve in the eastern Andes. He said: ‘I saw that down among the roots was a tiny little plant that I realised was more interesting than the bigger orchid.’Looking at the flower is often the best way to be able to identify which species of orchid you’re got hold of – and can tell you whether you’re looking at an unknown species or not.’

It is the 60th new orchid that Dr Jost has discovered in the past decade. He works for Ecuador’s EcoMinga Foundation, which created the reserve in partnership with the World Land Trust in Britain.’It is an exciting feeling to find a new species,’ he said.’People think everything has been discovered but there’s much more.’More than 1,000 orchid species have been unearthed in the South American country in the last 100 years as new roads have opened up more remote regions.Dr Jost’s most exciting find was a group of 28 types of orchids from the teagueia genus in a mountainous area near Banos, Ecuador.The group was previously thought to only have six species.

A cleaner, chef or former professional snooker player will be crowned king (or queen) of the jungle on I’m A Celebrity tonight.Kim Woodburn, Gino D’Acampo and Jimmy White were selected as the three finalists after interior designer Justin Ryan was evicted.The three will now battle it out to win the public’s votes – and the potentially lucrative title.

Scottish interior designer Justin was met by his civil partner Colin McAllister, one of the first to leave the jungle, after missing out on a place in the final.He said he felt ‘absolutely brilliant’ to have done so well.

‘I didn’t expect to get this far,’ he told Ant and Dec. ‘But it’s a bittersweet thing because I would really like to have made it to the final.’The 43-year-old gave impressive performances in the jungle, despite his fear of insects.

Earlier all four remaining celebrities had taken part in the perennial favourite bushtucker trial Hell Hill in an attempt to win dinner for their last supper together.They were given three wetsuits and told that Kim was to be their cheerleader.Looking at his extra large wetsuit, Justin said: ‘In the interests of modern decency I don’t know whether it’s good for me to wear this.’I’ve slimmed right down to a rumour and they’ve put me in a wet suit for Jabba the Hut! Who am I, Big Daddy? Giant Haystacks?’

The celebrities had to each carry a star through a river which was home to snakes and large eels, clamber up a water logged, slippery hill and put the star on a post.They had to remain with their star until the trial was over.Kim, who cheered them on from the sidelines, told Ant and Dec: ‘I’ve tightened up my bra a notch so I don’t look like a panda at the end of it, I’m all tightly leashed.’With winds blowing gale force, jets of water firing across the river and a huge boulder being swung before him, Jimmy was the first into the murky water and swam quickly to the other side.

He scrambled up the mud slide of a hill and placed the star on the post.Next in was Justin, who was bombarded with the water cannons and flying objects, but managed to secure his star on the second post.Gino followed, but just as he was close to this final post, he was forced back down into the river, by a torrent of water mixed with balls and other objects. He clawed his way back up, fighting the assault and fixed his star in place.

When the celebrities returned triumphantly to camp there were four hidden ice-creams to find – but the whole episode made Kim rather grumpy.Having searched her camper she declared: ‘They can stick it up their ar*e, I am fed up with them, I’m not trecking around her looking for an ice-cream, how humiliating. I can’t deal with it, it’s boring, I’ll go without. So childish!’Justin and Gino found three of the treats but the final one eluded them until Justin searched the camper again and found it on top of the picture of The Queen.Said Justin: ‘Kim just sat there with a face like fizz.’

Later Kim was given a secret mission, to use the word discombobulate in separate conversations with each of the other celebrities without them realising she was on a task.Her reward, if successful, was a bottle of champagne.Heading straight for Justin, she said: ‘You know all these interviews you do in the Bush Telegraph just discombobulate you don’t they?’Justin told her that was a big word and she moved on to Jimmy who was boiling water on the fire.’All that water carrying does just discombobulate you doesn’t it?’

Jimmy just muttered and carried the water holder away.Finally she found Gino behind some bushes and said: ‘With your career, books, television, business and everything do you ever discombobulate?’He asked her what the word meant and she said: ‘Well you know, get confused and busy.’Her task was deemed successful and the celebrities were given their bottle of bubbles.Kim also took part in the celebrity chest, along with Justin.

Ronnie Wood held ‘for trying to throttle’ 21-year-old girlfriend Ekaterina

Ronnie Wood has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his 20-year-old Russian lover.Witnesses claim they saw the 61-year-old Rolling Stone slap Ekaterina Ivanova and appear to throttle her while holding a cigarette.They say Wood dragged her along by her hair and coat and tried to take her handbag from her, while hurling foul language at her.

Former health centre manager Phillip Legge and his wife Celine told how they were woken by the pair arguing outside their house on the High Street in Claygate, Surrey, on Wednesday night. ‘We had just gone to bed at about10.45pm when we heard this man shouting andscreaming at the top of his voice,’ Mr Legge said.’He was shouting, “You are a f***ing b****” and then “You are a f***ing w****” and it was really loud.I could hear a woman screaming for him to leave her alone and initially thought it was two people just having a row.’But the screaming went on and on and I went downstairs and then out into the street.’It was then I saw this man dragging a woman down the road.’She had been on the floor by a shop-front to begin with and he was towering over her screaming abuse into her face. He had really viciously turned on her.’Mr Legge, 30, said he did not recognise the Rolling Stone, who he said was dragging the woman by her coat collar along the ground before trying to take her handbag from her.Mr Legge said he saw a struggle between the two while Wood appeared to be holding a cigarette.

‘I heard her say: “Ouch…Stop it.” He then pinned her up against a nearby wall and again he appeared to put his hands around her throat.’Mr Legge shouted at the man, who turned and walked away, leaving the woman on the floor. ‘I then went to her and got her into the house,’ he said.She was in a terrible state. She was wearing shorts and a striped top and red coat but her hair was all over the place, her tights were ripped and torn and there were grazes all over her legs.’ Mr Legge and his 20-year-old pregnant wife claim that as they waited for police to arrive Miss Ivanova spoke repeatedly to Wood on the phone, telling him: ‘You’re not even sorry – you can’t even say sorry.’They allege that Miss Ivanova smelled heavily of drink and told them that the couple had been to a restaurant in the village where they had rowed, with Miss Ivanova suggesting they should split up.A waiter at the Bengal Lancer restaurant said Wood drank vodka there by himself before his girlfriend joined him.

Once police arrived at the Legges’ house it is understood Miss Ivanova answered some of their questions but refused to make a complaint about Wood’s actions. An hour later police took her to the couple’s rented folly in Claygate where they arrested Wood shortly after midnight.Only after she had gone did Mr and Mrs Legge realise the ‘Ronnie’ she had been talking to was a Rolling Stone. Mr Legge has since given a statement to police.Wood split from his wife Jo in July last year after meeting Miss Ivanova – who is also known as Kat – and last month their marriage of 23 years ended in a ‘quickie’ divorce as Mrs Wood walked away with a £6.5million settlement.Wood and Miss Ivanova moved to Surrey in September where he has taken a year-long lease on the £4,000-a-week four-bedroom Ruxley Towers, which is owned by a member of the French sportswear dynasty Lacoste.Friends of the guitarist, known for his long-running battles with alcohol, have claimed that he is ‘most definitely’ drinking again.A close friend told the Daily Mail: ‘They have an extremely volatile relationship – it’s very stormy and sexual. One day, Kat will be mocking him for his age and then they will be rowing over his family.’It is believed that the pair have had a string of rows as Miss Ivanova has been ‘nagging’ Wood to put Sandymount House, his £3million listed mansion in County Kildare, Ireland, into her name.But the friend said: ‘There is no way that Ronnie can do this as he is being forced to sell a lot of his properties to make a divorce settlement for his wife Jo. But Kat wants proof that he loves her.’Miss Ivanova is also said to be jealous that Wood has had a rapprochement with his daughter Leah, 31, who refused to talk to him after he left her mother for the former cocktail waitress, and is thought to be upset that he will not spend Christmas with her family.Last night a police spokesman confirmed that a 62-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of assault and had been bailed to appear at a Surrey police station in January ‘pending further enquiries’.Wood’s spokesman, David Rigg of Project Associates, said yesterday: ‘I can confirm that there was an incident last night and that Ronnie Wood was arrested. He has since been released on police bail.’We have no further statement to make at this time.’

GIFT WRAPPING DILEMMA #3: TEENY TINY BOXES FROM OLD GREETING CARDS

Unable to find a jewelry box small enough to fit my Sweetheart Necklaces, I crawled the web in search of the perfect origami box pattern. After testing eight different patterns, I found these adorable little flower boxes. For my purposes, it was necessary to adapt the original pattern slightly –I added the point and slot on the inside tabs. This created a plan that looks slightly like a flying chicken, but stays together better than the original version.

First trace the pattern onto your recycled material of choice. I found it helpful to print the pattern onto thick paper, then cut out a template to use over and over again. In my version, the bottom is one square inch (about the size of a quarter), but you can enlarge the pattern to any size.  Use old greeting cards, postcards, cereal boxes, cardstock, or whatever you can find around the house.

Once the pattern is on the cardboard, cut out the outline of the box. It should look like either a squashed bird, or flying chicken, depending on your mood.

Place your cut-out box with the prettiest side down, and lightly score the dashed “fold” lines that create the square bottom of the box. Scoring the lines will help keep the folds crisp and straight. Cut the notches at the scalloped ends and cut a slot on the tab with the squared off end.

Now fold all four tabs upward, along the scored fold lines.

Bend the pointed tab towards the tab with the blunt end, sliding the point into the slot. If the point does not fit into the slot, you will need to adjust these now. Either make the slot slightly longer, or carefully trim the edges of the pointed tab.

Now put your tiny gift inside the box and pull the scalloped (flower) tabs towards each other.

Carefully slide the notches at the flower tabs together, until they complete the flower top.

Your flattened flying chicken is now a flower box, and the tiny treasure is safely inside. If you’re feeling really industrious you could slip a piece of ribbon or wire through the opening and hang it on the christmas tree for your giftee to find.

This past weekend (thanksgiving 2009) Lil Wayne celebrated  two of his babies’ birthdays. The first one was his daughter, Reginae, for her 11th birthday on Saturday (November 28), everyone from Monica (w/ her two kids), T-Pain, Tiny, Kandi Burruss, and the New Boyz, who performed. The 2nd one was on (November 30) Monday, Weezy’s other baby mother Nivea gave birth to a son who’s name is Neal.

Lil Wayne and Latoya celebrated their daughter Reginae’s 11th’s birthday with a Slumber Party in Atlant this weekend.  It was a star studded event and it just looks like good old family fun!  I will say this for Lil Wayne….yes, he does appear to be having children at a ridiculous pace, but he does seem to be into being a hands on Daddy!

This is my second, how dismal, yet totally expected. School has been busy definitely and there is just no time to sit and blab to no one, no where, about nothings. I do however have something worth writing – The Perfect Lazy Sunday – The Goonies  full of junk food and pajamas. Followed by shopping and scoping out potential Christmas gifts then more movies and delicious AND healthy snackery, concluded with me sitting on my beehind, online, typing to no ones, no wheres,  about nothings. Sounds pretty ill to me. Today is a day I’m going to have to hold on to very very tightly until school is off for Christmas. Goodbye life, once more. It’s been nice.

Tiny magnetic discs just a millionth of a metre in diameter could be used to used to kill cancer cells, according to a study published on Sunday.

Laboratory tests found the so-called “nanodiscs”, around 60 billionths of a metre thick, could be used to disrupt the membranes of cancer cells, causing them to self-destruct.

The discs are made from an iron-nickel alloy, which move when subjected to a magnetic field, damaging the cancer cells, the report published in Nature Materials said.

One of the study’s authors, Elena Rozhlova of Argonne National Laboratory in the United States, said subjecting the discs to a low magnetic field for around ten minutes was enough to destroy 90 percent of cancer cells in tests.

In a commentary on the report, Jon Dobson of Keele University in Britain said antibodies could be used to direct the discs towards tumour cells.

“This provides an elegant and rapid technique for targeting tumour destruction without the side effects associated with systemic treatments such as chemotherapy,” Dobson wrote.

MTV: Taking a break on Monday from a shoot for the second season of her BET reality show, “Tiny & Toya,” T.I.’s fiancée, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, talked up her latest project, a girl group called OMG Girlz.

Tiny, who knows a bit about being in a girl group thanks to her 1990s run in Xscape (not to mention her hand in penning TLC’s mega-hit “No Scrubs”), said she’s helping to shepherd the debut by the group, which features her daughter, Zonnique (a.k.a. Star) as well as the offspring of Lil Wayne and his ex-wife, Antonia “Toya” Carter, Reginae (a.k.a. Baby Carter).

The preteen/teen quartet (ages 11 to 13) also includes members Basha (a.k.a. Beauty) and Lourdes (a.k.a. Lolo). They got their start last year when Tiny and her production partner, Kiesha Babi, began talking to Zonnique about her singing ability and encouraging her to form a group. Zonnique was actually already a veteran of one short-lived two-girl act, QT Posse, and Tiny suggested she hook up with Reginae to see if they could get something going. When Baby Carter proved her inherited rhyming skills to Tiny, the music industry vet knew she was on to something. “She started rapping for me and I thought this would be great,” Tiny said.

As a mother and a survivor of the girl-group mill, Tiny’s making sure her daughter’s crew doesn’t fall into the usual music industry traps that are typical for young acts. “I’m definitely using my experience and telling them the things I’ve been through,” she said. “I don’t want them to go through things I went through, so I tell them stories so we can avoid going in that direction.”

OMG has played a few shows here and there, appearing at the SoulCircus in Charlotte, North Carolina, recently and at a charity event in Chicago, where they performed their first single, “Ain’t Nobody,” snippets of some of the other songs Tiny has helped write for them, and a few covers that they dance over.

“We’re getting calls all the time and we have shows booked through March,” said Tiny. So far, she’s co-written seven or eight songs for the group’s debut along with Babi, and the women have been encouraging the girls to get their feet wet with songwriting, since, as Tiny knows, that’s where the real money is. “Kiesha and I wrote ‘Ain’t Nobody,’ but Reginae wrote on that one too,” she said. “We’re trying to coach them to write, and they’ve come up with good stuff.”

The focus now is on finishing the album and getting a record deal, as “Ain’t Nobody” hits radio before the end of the year.

As for the girls’ famous fathers, Tiny said Weezy has already promised he’s working on a song for them that he’s going to finish before he goes to prison next year. “Tip, you know it! He already told Star he’s going to do a song with them,” Tiny said. “They’re excited.”

“Jerkin’ ” stars the New Boyz also want to get in on the OMG album, and one of Wayne’s protégé’s, Lil Chuckee, has already jumped on the remix of “Ain’t Nobody.”

We Must Cry Out for Holiness

When I agreed to write about sexual immorality in the body of Christ, I thought pulling the information together would be an easy task. As a pastor, counselor, speaker and public health educator, I often address this topic. But as I began to wrestle with the many perspectives from which I could approach the issue, I almost lost myself in a crippling hodgepodge of psychology, sociology and theology.

Finally, I decided that the best approach was the biblical approach. After all, God’s perspective, clearly revealed in His Word, is the only perspective that really matters.

The Bible makes four simple declarations about human sexuality:

1. God created our sexuality, and it is beautiful (see Gen. 1:26-28; 2:24-25).

2. Sex within the marriage covenant is holy and pure (see Heb. 13:4).

3. Sex outside the marriage covenant is sin (see 1 Cor. 6:9).

4. Sexual relations with the same sex is an abomination (see Lev. 18:22).

Many nonbelievers would probably reject these statements as trivial, outdated, homophobic, narrow-minded, judgmental, accusatory and discriminatory. Unfortunately, judging from their lifestyles, many Christians do too.

I’m not writing to nonbelievers. I’m writing as a Christian to Christians from a Christian perspective.

I wish sexual immorality were a problem outside the church only. But it’s not. It’s a big problem inside the church, also, among Christians and Christian leaders.

Often when I’ve taught about sexuality in church meetings, I’ve been shocked by the concerns that were expressed to me privately. Take my word for it: Every form of sexual addiction, perversion and practice is alive and well among believers, and it stretches from the pulpit to the vestibule of the church and everywhere in between.

The issues, problems and consequences of carnality and sexual immorality are recorded in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. God has given us clear guidelines in His Word. So why are so many believers today involved in sexual sin?

Let me put it bluntly: The reason is that too many of us are refusing to yield totally to the Holy Spirit. We declare with our mouths that we love Jesus; we say we will follow Him wherever He leads us.

But our actions indicate otherwise. Our actions say, “I love you, Jesus, almost as much as I love myself; and I will follow you all the way until I get to the fork in the road where I make the choice to satisfy my own carnal desires. I will believe your Word up to the point at which it disagrees with the secular perspective that explains my behavior. Any variance from that perspective means Your Word is outdated and is not for today.”

How did we get to this place? How did the body of Christ reach the state in which sexual sins are not only overlooked by many Christian leaders but are being openly committed by the keepers of the flame? Blatant immorality, drunkenness, womanizing and perversion are running rampant and unchecked in too many assemblies!

Strong words, you say? Yes, these are very strong words. But strong words are what are needed to rout the “strongman” of immorality. The sins of fornication, adultery, homosexuality and perversion have become deeply rooted in the church and are tolerated by too many of us.

Part of the problem is that we’ve believed the lie that church leaders are “faultless.” That lie has caused many of us to close our eyes to the sexual sins in which some leaders have engaged while serving as our spiritual shepherds. Those “private Bible studies” and late night “counseling sessions” with single folks, unhappy spouses and “sick” members have gone unchallenged and unrebuked by a godly membership.

Now mistresses have the audacity to sit on the front row in the church. Homosexual lovers don’t hesitate to share the platform during praise and worship. Unmarried couples who sleep together Saturday night have no qualms about sitting in church together Sunday morning.

I am aware that I sound angry. I am angry! I’m tired of seeing strong young men and women in the church devastated by the ravages of AIDS, other sexually transmitted diseases and dysfunctional lifestyles as a result of sexual immorality. It hurts to see the hopes and promises of beautiful teen-agers and young women dashed when they discover that they’re pregnant and the father has disappeared or has announced to the world that the child is not his baby because the pregnant female “sleeps around.”

Who will comfort the young child who has been fondled by a priest, a pastor or a trustee of the church in the church? Who will help rebuild the shattered emotions of the pastor’s wife after she has discovered her husband’s infidelity with the church secretary or the Sunday school teacher, or worse yet, one of the young men in the choir? Who will sound the clarion call to sanctification and holiness in this age of promiscuity and rank immorality?

Needless to say, we need a revival. The principles of sanctification and holiness need to be revived at the altar. We must stop petting folks who want to stay in their sins. We must herald the truth of God’s Word. We must face sexuality immorality squarely in the face and declare holy war on our carnal nature.

God has given us plain and simple instructions throughout the Bible such as those found in Galatians 5:16: “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (NKJV). We need to study the Bible and let the Word of God speak to us. We must be willing to hear and to repent of the sin that God reveals in our lives through His Word. After all, we serve a loving and gracious God who is waiting and willing to forgive us, sanctify us and restore us.

The strongman of immorality can and must be overcome in our lives and in our churches. There are specific things we can do to ensure his defeat.

1. Flee temptation. If you are struggling to overcome sexual sin, it is your responsibility to flee temptation. Be wise. Avoid situations that would contribute to sexual arousal. For example, if you are dating, don’t allow your date to sexually arouse you with kisses, touches or any other kind of stimulation.

If soft music turns you on, put on some hymns or a loud Kirk Franklin album. Play a marching band if you must!

More importantly, associate with those who have the same attitude about sexual purity that you do. I know it can be difficult to track them down, but there are saved brothers and sisters out there somewhere. Entreat the Holy Spirit to help you find them.

2. Ask for help. If you need special help, seek out a Christian therapist or physician who is trained in handling the behavioral problems and addictions that have a stranglehold on your life. All healing comes from the Lord, but not everyone is able to get free from behavioral problems without assistance.

3. Take the risks seriously. If you know what is right but are choosing to live in willful disobedience, I ask: Is it worth the risk? As a Christian participating in a sexually immoral lifestyle, you risk death from incurable, sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis and more. You risk losing your mate and your family because of your unfaithfulness. You risk losing your self-esteem and the respect of your peers and neighbors. You risk devastating your business or profession, especially if you are in ministry. Worst of all, you risk your fellowship with the Lord.

4. Make a commitment. It doesn’t matter whether the behavior you’re involved in is “trendy” or not. As a Christian, you are a “slave of righteousness,” and your call is to crucify the lusts of the flesh. It is possible to live holy if you desire to do so. Commit yourself to staying before the Lord on a daily basis and avoiding anything that would contribute to your taste for immoral pleasures or gratification outside of marriage.

5. Confront unfaithfulness. If you are a Christian wife and your husband has been unfaithful, ask yourself: Is your spouse truly repentant, and will he remain faithful after repentance? Is the unfaithfulness a continuous practice, or was it just one breach of fidelity? Is your spouse a professing Christian, or does he just go to church on Sunday? Is he a Spirit-filled man whom Satan tripped up but who is now truly repentant?

Only you can answer these questions. Forgiveness is possible—and biblical—but the Bible also says that you are not obligated to remain with an unfaithful mate. If you choose to stay with him, you must realize that your husband’s unfaithfulness could well mean your early demise from undetected disease. Given the severity of the sexual diseases among us, I strongly suggest a period of sexual abstinence and then the use of protection at all times, even after lab reports have determined that your mate is disease-free.

Even if your husband is a pastor or church leader, do not hesitate to confront him head-on about his infidelity and report it to the other church authorities. Women must stop shielding and hiding such behavior. Many are suffering physical abuse and threats from these “spiritual leaders” because they are too afraid or too embarrassed to expose them.

Stop being a punching bag for these unregenerate heathen! The Word tells us that a man is worse than an infidel if he neglects his family (see 1 Tim. 5:8). Seek legal help to get the support you need to maintain your family and yourself. There are laws on the books that address adultery!

6. Don’t accept excuses. If you are a member of a congregation and discover that one of your leaders is being sexually immoral, you have a responsibility to bring it to the attention of the church leadership. This action must not be based on hearsay or gossip. But if you know without a doubt, then it is your duty as a Christian to pull the covers off this festering boil that affects the whole body of Christ.

There are no excuses. We do things because we want to do them, and your pastor or leader is no exception. Besides, how can you sit under the leadership of a hypocrite who thumbs his nose at God’s state of holy matrimony?

Yes, it takes courage to uncover sin, but it must be done—even if you are rejected by the leadership. Even if you’re called a liar! Just pick up your marbles and move to another ministry after you have sought God’s face. You don’t want to find that you’ve run from the frying pan into the fire.

7. Confess your sin. If you are a Christian leader, pastor or minister involved in sexual immorality, you need to confess your sin and seek serious counseling—both psychological and spiritual. I personally believe you need to be relieved of your position during this process. You cannot continue on as though nothing has happened. There needs to be public repentance and restoration before you mount the pulpit again or accept any kind of leadership position.

8. Stand up for holiness. To all believers and ministers of the gospel, I say: Wake up! We need to combine forces to lead a strong, faith-based, biblical attack on the scourge of sexual immorality that has become epidemic in our congregations.

It is time to stand up for Jesus. It is time to rebuild the walls of holiness and sexual purity in the church so that we are no longer a reproach to the world. In the words of Nehemiah 2:8: Let us rise up and build!

Taking a break on Monday from a shoot for the second season of her BET reality show, “Tiny & Toya,” T.I.’s fiancée, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, talked up her latest project, a girl group called OMG Girlz.

Tiny, who knows a bit about being in a girl group thanks to her 1990s run in Xscape (not to mention her hand in penning TLC’s mega-hit “No Scrubs”), said she’s helping to shepherd the debut by the group, which features her daughter, Zonnique (a.k.a. Star) as well as the offspring of Lil Wayne and his ex-wife, Antonia “Toya” Carter, Reginae (a.k.a. Baby Carter).

The preteen/teen quartet (ages 11 to 13) also includes members Basha (a.k.a. Beauty) and Lourdes (a.k.a. Lolo). They got their start last year when Tiny and her production partner, Kiesha Babi, began talking to Zonnique about her singing ability and encouraging her to form a group. Zonnique was actually already a veteran of one short-lived two-girl act, QT Posse, and Tiny suggested she hook up with Reginae to see if they could get something going. When Baby Carter proved her inherited rhyming skills to Tiny, the music industry vet knew she was on to something. “She started rapping for me and I thought this would be great,” Tiny said.

As a mother and a survivor of the girl-group mill, Tiny’s making sure her daughter’s crew doesn’t fall into the usual music industry traps that are typical for young acts. “I’m definitely using my experience and telling them the things I’ve been through,” she said. “I don’t want them to go through things I went through, so I tell them stories so we can avoid going in that direction.”

OMG has played a few shows here and there, appearing at the SoulCircus in Charlotte, North Carolina, recently and at a charity event in Chicago, where they performed their first single, “Ain’t Nobody,” snippets of some of the other songs Tiny has helped write for them, and a few covers that they dance over.

“We’re getting calls all the time and we have shows booked through March,” said Tiny. So far, she’s co-written seven or eight songs for the group’s debut along with Babi, and the women have been encouraging the girls to get their feet wet with songwriting, since, as Tiny knows, that’s where the real money is. “Kiesha and I wrote ‘Ain’t Nobody,’ but Reginae wrote on that one too,” she said. “We’re trying to coach them to write, and they’ve come up with good stuff.”

Big idea.  Itty bitty living space.  Literally!

This article about a bunch of seniors from Cape Hatteras Secondary School of Coastal Studies was sent to me by my friend Amy Mac.

These students decided to test their design of a small home by building it bit by bit, from found scrap!  It’s called The Scrap House or the Tiny House, depending on which website you’re on and it’s only 144 square feet of living space.  The main floor is 96 and the sleeping loft is about 48.
