<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I have decided to close down this blog and open up a new one. Why? Because I think it&#8217;s time. I mean with a new year why not have a new blog. I want to try a new blog service. I&#8217;ve been using wordpress for two years. No offense to WordPress, but I want to try something new. I also think I&#8217;ll be taking the blog in a new direction. I don&#8217;t know we&#8217;ll see. Oh and no I won&#8217;t link this blog to my new one, but I will link my new one to my old one. That&#8217;s just how I tend to move. Like I did with my last blog. Now that is also because I forgot the password to get into that old blog, but still. I guess keep moving forward, but not dwelling on it. Not to mention there are a few people I&#8217;m trying to avoid. So on December 31st I will officially close down the blog and On January 1st start on a new one. So anyway last night I was just messing around and I came across pokecharms.com and I hadn&#8217;t made a pokemon card in forever. Although the Gallade might not be blue. Oh and that reminds me (watching the Today show) my brother has a Snuggie now. He&#8217;s one of those people now. Also found out my fan no longer works so I have to buy another one. Well Squiby time. Well it was but alas it&#8217;s down yet again. Ugh I swear when they move the server it would be good. Ok so I&#8217;m kinda running low on videos to post which is one reason why I&#8217;m going to switch to blogger since I&#8217;m not only stuck using google videos, youtube, or daily motion. Anyway today&#8217;s video is the opening for Disney&#8217;s Doug which is different from Nickelodeon&#8217;s Doug. If you didn&#8217;t know Disney picked up Doug and basically made it a year later and everything changed. See the thing is that well it only worked for a little bit. Suddenly it was all about the shock factor. You know oh Roger is now rich. Oh Skeeter is now a genius. Ok a lot of that doesn&#8217;t happen all at once. It just lost it&#8217;s appeal for me. When Doug was on nickelodeon it was believable. You know procrastinating on a paper, having a cavity. Disney just pushed it too far and I don&#8217;t think it ever caught on as much as it did on Nickelodeon. Well today&#8217;s tip is no matter what day it is always appreciate who is in your life. Oh and enjoy the weird weather.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>So as I said yesterday I had this nose bleed that just seemed to last forever. Woke up was cleaning out what happened the night before and stupidly after I left did that thing where you press to hard on your nose, kinda like your wiping it. I did it on the left side that was bleeding. That was what caused it. Then for some reason it wasn&#8217;t stopping like it should so I went to my mom for help and kinda fell asleep since well I lost a lot of blood. Then it seemed to stop, yet start up again. I didn&#8217;t really move until 1 since I was so tired. Which was not what you were suppose to do. I talked to my boss and he gave me these tips that were in a nutritional book. Also mentioned some tips I&#8217;ve never heard of. Like if you put a wet tissue under your upper lip and apply pressure it cuts off some of the blood to the sinuses and helps it clot. Or putting white vinegar on a tissue and put it up the nose and the acid helps the broken blood vessel coterize think that&#8217;s the word, but helps it stop. I thought that it was bleeding for hours, but my nose started running at some point and what I thought was blood was just snot. So I finally get the nose under control, but right now I&#8217;m in that paranoid stage where a runny nose scares the shit out of me and I&#8217;m expecting to see blood. Which is annoying, but I did make it to the party and had an awesome time. Made it back at like 1. Didn&#8217;t get to drink because your not suppose to drink after such a loss of blood since well takes less to get you drunk and the last thing I need is to be drunk at a party since I haven&#8217;t even been drunk in my apartment. Well squiby is still down because apparently the server had a power outage so that means no squiby. Today&#8217;s video is Britney Spears You Drive Me Crazy from that movie 10 things I hate about you. I think that was the movie. Anyway it was such an interesting music video in the sense that it looks like they get off work at work to stay in the same place and party. Anyway enjoy. Today&#8217;s tip is no two people are alike, and by the same token no two couples are alike. What works for one may not work for another so stop comparing.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>So Today was suppose to be the day I go off and go to a party, but looks like that&#8217;s not going to happen. Last night I had a nose bleed an it lead me to have a terrible night sleep. Well I was cleaning my nose and it was fine, but I had the stupid idea to itch my nose and it started up again. Yeah unless the bleeding actually stops before dinner then I won&#8217;t get to go to the party. Ok so we&#8217;ll see if it stops and I can clean it up before the party, Just can never touch it while I&#8217;m at the party.  Which would be the hardest thing ever. Man my nose is just bugging me. I hope the sleep I got also helped. I did something I usually never do and that&#8217;s seek help from my mom. That&#8217;s where I&#8217;ve been since like 9:30 this morning. That&#8217;s how long this nose bleed has been going on. I so hate it. My boss has been trying to help. It pays to work for a nutrition store. So it turns out that I was doing it all wrong. I shouldn&#8217;t have layed down. I&#8217;m also not suppose to do anything physical for 2 days. I also need some vitamin C and vitamin K. Man why did this have to happen now. I really think it&#8217;s the congestion and the pressure problem. Squiby also seems to be having issues. Today&#8217;s video is I Am from Inuyasha. It&#8217;s such an amazing opening. Mainly because it kept getting stuck in my head over and over and over. So enjoy. Hopefully my nose will get better. Today&#8217;s tip is nosebleeds and scary movies don&#8217;t mis to make good sleep. Just a bloody insomniac.</p>

<p>To be honest, there really is no excuse for drinking and driving.  Besides simply being responsible and having a designated driver on nights out, there are so many additional services for all different occasions.</p>
<p>If you’re not sure of your blood alcohol level:</p>
<ul>
<li>Buy a breathalyzer by searching “breathalyzer” in the Google Product Search.  Prices range from as low as $13 to $200.  Most breathalyzers go for approximately $50.</li>
<li>Calculate your blood alcohol level using applications for your smart phone
<ul>

<li>If you went to a restaurant or bar, they should be able to recommend a few different taxi services.</li>
<li>You can also call 1-800-GOOG-411 for no cost and ask for a taxi service in your area.</li>
<li>There are also several IPhone applications that connect you to a taxi in your area, using GPS functionality.  Try “Rocket Taxi,” “Call A Taxi,” “Cab 4 Me,” and many more!</li>
<li>Carpool.  Only one sober driver?  Pitch in for gas and ask for a ride.  However, if you suspect at all that that person has been drinking, be safe and don’t take the risk.</li>
<li>Hire a designated driver.  Search for a service in your area and save their phone number in your phone.  Often times they will let you rent drivers by the hour.  Besides having a sober and insured driver behind the wheel, you have the added comfort of being able to take your car home that night.</li>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I never thought I would actually have to pay attention to recall notices until I saw a sign in a car rental store and realized that I was driving the exact car company, model, and year that they were recalling.  Faulty hardware (including tires, mats, and more) can be real causes for preventable accidents.</p>
<p>Toyota conducted a recall of its all-weather mats in the 2007 and early 2008 ES 350s and Camrys due to complaints that if not properly installed, the mats could slip forward and entrap the gas pedal.</p>
<p>Most recently, Toyota has been under criticism for this tragic event</p>

<p>Take your car in for regular checkups and maintenance.  I know many people balk from what they consider exorbitant mechanic fees but remember that your safety is worth much more than that.</p>

<p>Recently, several studies have indicated that a diet high in cold-water fish and walnuts may lessen the symptoms of depression. These foods (including salmon, sardines and tuna) combined with foods <img align="right" src="http://livewellrichmond.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/122209_1636_tipoftheday2.jpg">containing uridine (like sugar beets and molasses), may be beneficial in reducing depression symptoms in some people. Omega-3s may also serve to blunt the mood swings common in bipolar disorder

<p> While it is not clear what the link is, these foods are high in omega-3 fatty acids. However, a recent article in the New York Times cited a study in which heart disease patients suffering from depression were given omega-3-enriched oil or a placebo corn oil. At the conclusion of <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/27/health/research/27regimens.html?_r=1">THIS STUDY</a> there were no noticeable symptom changes between the treatments.

I thought I found a hotspot, but turns out I had to pay for it and I obviously wasn&#8217;t going to do that. The annoying thing is I tried a product the day before and I swear it affected me in a majorly negative way. I mean I was sick to my stomach and I had this sinus headache and pressure. It was terrible. Especially the one from the twin cities to dallas. I mean that is the most terrible pressure you can imagine. It was right above my eye. Felt like the insides right there were going to bust out. It hurt so much. Then when I landed I felt like crap. Still felt like I was going to vomit. I&#8217;m waiting there for my luggage only to find out that it was there already. Apparently it flew on a flight to DFW before I did. It also amazed me about some of the parents that were in the airport. There was this mother who let her kids just run around. I mean they were running around. Running through chairs. Running into people. The mother just yelled to them saying come back. That&#8217;s it. She didn&#8217;t get up to get them herself. I mean honestly someone could have taken her daughter she ran that far off and was in a crowd of people. These are the parents that are shocked that their children get abducted or molested and act like there was nothing they could do. I mean you don&#8217;t give your kid that type of freedom in that type of environment until they are like 10. Maybe 9. <p> It can be difficult to get started in an exercise program, especially if you’ve been fairly sedentary and/or you have a significant amount of weight you want to lose.  It’s always the best idea to start it off slow at first.</p>
<p> An easy way to get your blood flowing for a few minutes a day is to walk in place.  Since most of us spend way too much time in front of the TV as it is, why not make good use of some of that time? </p>
<p> So, the next time your favorite show is on, start walking in place in your living room.  There’s no need to go fast or set a record or anything.  Just start at a steady pace that you can keep up for a few minutes (which is good advice when starting any sort of cardio activity) and just go as long as you can.  After awhile, start trying to walk longer than the last time and set records and goals for yourself.  Keep this up and little by little you’ll be able to start pushing your body a bit harder and go a bit faster.</p>

<p>We enter the holiday season with unreal expectations of gladness, blazing fires and ruddy cheeks. But when it doesn&#8217;t turn out that way, we often turn to-yup, you guessed it &#8212; food.</p>
<p>The most painful thing about using food to comfort ourselves during the holidays (or any other time) is that it is only a temporary solution. After the food is gone, whatever you ate about is still there. And, to make matters worse, you now feel fat or stuffed or spacey as well as lonely, sad, or angry. So turning to food only compounds the original problem by giving you another problem &#8212; your weight &#8212; to deal with.</p>
<p>For many years, I led one-day holiday workshops, listening to people talk about their fears, their expectations, their joys during the holiday season. I heard what triggered their descent into binging and what helped them out of it. And what I saw again and again is that as tempting as it is to eat 20 butter cookies shaped like Christmas trees when you are lonely, food is most pleasurable, delicious, satisfying when you are hungry. In every other situation, there is always something besides eating that will help you, comfort you, give you peace, which is after all, the true message of the holidays.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s what my students taught me about making it through the holidays (note: it takes a commitment to do these things. You have to want to to be sane more than you want to eat.)</p>
<p><strong>(1)</strong> Wear clothes with pockets. Put interesting things in them (rocks, crystals, and, um, any precious stones like sapphires or diamonds that are just laying around) so that you have something to do with your hands besides eat.</p>
<p><strong>(2)</strong> When you go to a party, take only three kinds of food on your plate. Go to a relatively quiet place and let yourself really really taste what&#8217;s on your plate. Play with it. Eat it in different orders. Mush it around in your mouth. Notice how one food explodes on your tongue and another takes a while to be fully tasted. Have fun with the food when you are hungry. Get every last ounce of pleasure out of it &#8212; and then, if you are still hungry, go back for three more foods. Follow the same instructions. When your body has had enough food, remind yourself that you can eat again when you get hungry.</p>
<p><strong>(3)</strong> Then, find another kind of nourishment, another kind of food. Another way to give yourself<br />
pleasure. Talk to someone. Listen to someone. Play the piano.  Look at the night sky. Pray.</p>
<p>Remember that food is everywhere, all the time, not just on our plates. Food for the eyes, for the senses, for the heart.</p>
<p>One last thing: May there be peace on earth; it&#8217;s the only planet with egg nog.</p>

Well since I&#8217;m going down to Texas it might get cut short. I hope so. Omg my ears are going to have the worst time popping because I&#8217;m all stuffed up. Anyway I&#8217;ll deal with that later. My dream last night was not violent. That makes me feel happy. Had my last work day for a long time. It was pretty interesting. Yeah I don&#8217;t know what it is with old people, but they are so cheap it is annoying. This woman calls up and asks if we have this brand. Said no, but we could special order it for her. She then tells us what she wants and we look it up and tell her the price. Then she goes on and on about how well I know it must be less expensive then that. She also says she called several other places that will special order it for her. Ugh can&#8217;t stand those seniors. They go on and on and on about how they have to have their special products then want to bitch and moan about the price. I pray that I won&#8217;t be like that when I&#8217;m older. I just don&#8217;t get how they think bitching and moaning helps. I mean you can&#8217;t do that at a chain store because they aren&#8217;t allowed to give discounts and honestly the management can be hard nosed. All I know is that there are some seniors that should not be allowed to go outside because all they seem to want to do is make everyone else miserable. It was also a new show that came out right before they changed Kids WB to Kids CW. Oh well. Like I said it was a book. I looked at the book and I mean the book read like it was a screenplay for a cartoon. Oh well. Today&#8217;s tip is Sometimes the grumpiest gus just needs a hug. Or the are just pure evil and need to be brought down a peg.</p>

This is like the second day in a row that I&#8217;ve had violent dreams. I mean last night the first part of my dream I go to this military boarding school (as part of another part of my dream) and this girl had a guy on the ground shirtless and had a laser in her hand. My dad asked her what was she doing and she said recording a show. There was a tv playing behind her and she was writing what was said on the guys body. Yeah it was bloody. Anyway then she like makes this whole in him and starts drinking the blood because she was a werewolf. Yeah I know weird. Then after awhile the guy who is now me says that&#8217;s enough and pushes her off. Then there was some sort of dream segway and now I&#8217;m a vampire with other vampires carrying these boxes up to the top floor of a building only to find that you can&#8217;t enter that building from that side so we go down and get attacked by werewolves. So we get into a fight and this huge rock falls on one of them and I run to it because I&#8217;m going to actually run away, but someone calls me out and I said I&#8217;m just getting the rock. Then all of a sudden I&#8217;m outside and it&#8217;s day time and this vampiress (female vampire) is being held by Glory (the demon goddess from buffy the vampire slayer) and that priest that was in the final season of buffy. Anyway so I go to help and the priest guy grabs me and takes me away so I stab him in the head with a sword. Doesn&#8217;t stop him. So I say Howel (he starts howling) Zabimaru (from bleach) needless to say he wasn&#8217;t howling too much more after that so I go get the vampiress (named Selena) and of course glory follows so I say Scatter and my blade scatters into what look like cherry blossoms and attack glory then I woke up. The second part I was some chosen one that was in some sort of Indian Legend and well swords were involved. There was a fight. Me hanging off a moving ambulance. Yeah I don&#8217;t know what is going on with my dreams. So It&#8217;s squiby time. <a href="http://www.squiby.net/level/2075373"><img src="http://squiby.net/view/2075373.png" border="0" alt="" /></a><a href="http://www.squiby.net/level/2075381"><img src="http://squiby.net/view/2075381.png" border="0" alt="" /></a><a href="http://www.squiby.net/level/1731558"><img src="http://squiby.net/view/1731558.png" border="0" alt="" /></a>So on a not violent related note here is the video for today. S Club Party by S Club 7. This is a weird music video because it&#8217;s based off the TV movie that featured them. Basically on their way from Miami to Hollywood they get sent back in time and well have to find a way back to the present. Anyway enjoy. Today&#8217;s tip is You never know how much you something means to you until it&#8217;s gone. Especially if you find it then lose it again.</p>

<description><![CDATA[I never realized until I was older that eating your salad with or after your meal is not commonplace]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I never realized until I was older that eating your salad with or after your meal is not commonplace.  I realized that when you go out to eat, you always get your salad first but it never occurred to me until later on that most people did it that way at home, too.   </p>
<p>Among other things, my grandparents and father brought over their eating habits from Italy – for better or for worse!  One of these habits was serving salad with or after the meal.  I just thought they didn’t want the food to get cold, and maybe they didn’t even know why they did it.  It could be just that’s how they were taught by their parents and so on.  Who knew what they were doing was actually great for you?</p>
<p> Once again, the magical power of eating your greens comes into play.  That lettuce is going to help your body properly digest all that food you just took in.  Somewhere along the line, one of my grandparents or great grandparents, etc. knew this and incorporated this into their meal. </p>
<p> Of course, Europeans have been doing this for quite some time, so who knows when it actually started in my own family.  Something we as Americans might want to give a second thought to.  Eat your salad after your meal, and I guarantee it will improve your digestion!!</p>

<p><span style="font-family:Georgia;">Here&#8217;s a delicious Butternut Squash soup recipe that is easy and healthy! Butternut Squash is high in Vitamins A and C, has no fat and is has a glycemic index score of 75.<br />

<p><span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:12pt;">3 tablespoons olive oil<br />1 onion, chopped<br />3 cloves garlic, chopped<br />2 fresh sage leaves<br />2 teaspoons fresh thyme<br />1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce<br />1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, plus more to taste<br />Freshly ground black pepper<br />14-ounce canned crushed tomatoes (half of a 28-ounce can)<br />1 medium butternut squash, peeled and diced<br />4 cups homemade or low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth<br />2 teaspoons sherry vinegar<br />

<p><span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:12pt;">Optional Garnishes:<br />Toasted pine nuts or pumpkin seeds<br />Crème fraiche<br />

<p><span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:12pt;">Heat olive oil in a soup pot over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, sage and thyme; salt and season with black pepper. Cook for 5 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes and Worcestershire; cook, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. Add squash, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and continue to cook for 10 to 12 minutes. Add the broth; bring to a simmer and cook until the squash is tender. Puree soup in a blender (in batches), or leave in the pot and use an immersion blender. Stir in the vinegar, and serve warm with a dollop of crème fraiche and sprinkled with toasted pine nuts or pumpkin seeds.<br />

Anyway so I was surfing the web yesterday and I came across this video of Wanda Sykes interview with Conan. It was her asking the question &#8220;Did I have Sex with Tiger&#8221; and I must say I busted out laughing. I mean she has a point. The count is up to what 14 plus a &#8220;link&#8221; to Jessica Simpson. The sad part is that now me an my boss joke about it every chance we get. You know asking the question and stuff. Plus with his wife now filing for divorce (shocker) I guess that means he can come back to golf now. I mean come on 14 women. That kinda goes beyond getting couples therapy. Just makes you wonder how the hell did these mistresses not know about the others? See these are the type of things me and my boss talk about when we joke about tiger. Anyway I watched the Saturday Night Live Christmas Special yesterday. Yeah not as funny as I thought it would be. I was expecting you know tons of clips from old shows, but they showed a lot more of the recent ones (which aren&#8217;t as funny) and when they did show some of the old clips they would cut them off and go to commercial. Oh well they got me watching which is all the wanted. This was when I thought she was pretty good. Anyway it&#8217;s the full commercial that you only got to see if you watched the Superbowl which I don&#8217;t do because my attention span is so not there. Anyway I was watching Good Morning America and well I saw part of this commercial on for one of the stories they were covering. I don&#8217;t remember which. So enjoy. Today&#8217;s tip is no matter how much we humans learn there will still be one question we can&#8217;t answer. WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? Yeah still waiting for my friends to say omg you are such a dork. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p> Most of us are now accustomed to sitting at a desk for 8 or more hours a day, but the way we sit can greatly affect the way we look and feel.</p>
<p> Make it a point to notice how you’re sitting while working at your desk.  If you’re like me, then you’re probably slumping down in your chair.  Or, maybe you’re hunched over your desk.  Either way, it’s highly likely that you&#8217;re not sitting up straight.</p>
<p> Having good posture is beneficial in a few ways.  Most importantly, it helps strengthen your back and core muscles.  This is great for performing physical activity and for preventing back problems down the road.</p>
<p> As an added bonus, it forces you to work and stretch your core muscles (read: abs), and can give off the appearance of being taller.  If you sit slouched, then you probably walk slouched as well.  Once your posture improves, you’ll soon start to stand up and walk straighter, too.</p>
<p> Try playing what a good friend of mine calls “the posture game”.  Place your feet firmly on the ground, sit up straight with your back flat against your chair and arch your shoulders back slightly.  Make it a point to do this whenever you realize that you’ve started slouching again.  Pretty soon, I bet you’ll find that you naturally start sitting and standing up straighter!</p>
