Nexus One news pile-up continues. A tipster over at Engadget says the Nexus One will be available by invitation only. The 5MP camera, which is becoming a standard, is said to have a 2x Digital Zoom. The phone is rumored to have the 1ghz Snapdragon processor which is double the processing power of the current chip (TI OMAP 3) you see in the 3GS, the Pre, and the Motorola Droid. The fine lads at xda-developers forums have ported the Android 2.1 ROM — you know, the updated OS from Nexus One that everyone’s been talking about lately — all the way to the original G1. Right now it’s being dubbed version 0.9999 since it’s still lacking A2SD, CompCache, and SWAP… and if you’re feeling confused by the terminology, it might be best to not try this at home just yet. Creator Teh Dust has also removed a few things for the sake of making it more lightweight, including Car Home, Live Boot, and high resolution wallpapers / apps that don’t jive with the G1 anyway. I heard about Google Android phone (an iPhone competitor) over a year ago and, I ended up buying one:-) Awesome phone BTW!

Then, I heard about Google Wave (an email, SMS, twitter, and facebook competitor). I tried to get a beta account, not much luck. It is due to be released next year.

Then, it came Google Voice and recently their 911 call functionality. I got that that one too

It is obvious where Google is heading. It seems to me, they plan to take on everyone – Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo, my fat Mama, and telecom companies. Well, taking on Apple, Yahoo, and Microsoft has been going on for past several years or so. Taking on the telecom companies where my educational and half of professional background is from, WOW! That is amazing! Thanks to the power of Internet and Voice over IP.

Certainly, 2010 is going to be an awesome year for Google – particularly for their Android operating system. Because, there are now 20,000 apps available for you to download from their AndroLib site and it is growing fast. Based on all other goodies they offer compare to their competitors, I won’t be surprised in a few years Apple gets out of mobile phone business, Microsoft shuts down their newly launched Bing decision search engine, AOL and half of present telecom service providers close down for good. It will be fascinating to watch their war with iPhone of Apple. Note that Apple is just about a mobile phone and computer operating system, computer, and internet browser. Google has a couple of those items plus search, google wave and google voice. You own the search and telecom, you own the world. Besides, Google Android is now on many more handset than Apples’.

What’s even more fascinating, is how Google took many of the other traditional mobile phone companies and their operating systems providers like Windows Mobile and Symbian totally off guard and quick. I think they did a fantastic job playing Trojan Horse of the 21st Century.

2: backup your phone in iTunes (plug it in and SYNC IT) which backs up text messages, call logs and contacts. Not music though.

4: restore the phone in iTunes (optional but xtra ammo for apple to replace your phone as they will blame software for dropped calls while AT&T will blame the sim card we replaced or the phone itself)

3: take it to apple. Be nice. Tell them AT&T replaced the sim. U restored it etc and get a new one. If there is no apple store where u are call 1-800-MY-APPLE and they will send you a replacement or u can get one from the AT&T store.

4: sync your phone at home to get your contacts etc back on it

5: call AT&T and tell them all of these steps. At this point there is no possible excuse for your issues other than the network itself.
Be sure to remind AT&T you have a 3g phone and you pay an extra $30 a month per line of iPhone service so you should be able to use that service.

At some point they SHOULD offer you a credit. If they do not then simply keep complaining and they will. Almost all of them can offer a credit to you. If you feel ok asking go ahead but that is not my style personally.

TIPS: never EVER tell anyone you jailbreak or unlock your phone if you have jailbroken it. This is against your contract and they will give you nothing ever!
If you hack and do a restore your phone looks as good as day one

Also if you have physical damage to the phone you will be out of luck. Apple does now cover physically damaged phones unless you are an amazing talker. I’ve had them replace a shattered screen phone but it wasn’t easy.

Also. The head of the genius bar is the equivelant of a GOD at the apple store. He has final say over all replacements. Talk to him only if you must but apple is an incredible company that is great to their customers (too bad AT&T is so poor)

They want to retain you as a customer so keep that in mind.
