So Anna has developed an obsession with cows.

Or MooMoo cow as she calls her/them.

It all started with Disney’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Clarabelle makes an appearance in one of her dvd’s and I was woken one Saturday morning to ‘MooMoo cow’ on repeat via Anna’s pretty little voice.

Every morning the first thing she looks for is ‘MooMoo cow’, who is somewhere lost in her bed.

She comes into us with the toy and starts looking to watch her on the tv.

We pop her DVD on and slip back into a coma.

TV/DVD combi in the bedroom. The best thing since sliced bread.

This led to an intense internet search looking for any sort of Clarabelle toy.

The only thing I could find (in Ireland) was a plastic character in a box of six pieces in the Disney shop.

Clarabell goes everywhere- shops, car, playground, buggy, trike, bath, bed.

Clarabell gets to jump in puddles, have some dinner and even roots up Anna’s nose for bogeys.

Since then, whenever we sing ‘Old MacDonald has a farm’, and I go quiet for Anna to decide what animal we sing, she says ‘MooMoo’.

‘And a MooMoo here and a MooMoo there, here a moo there a moo every where a MooMoo… Old MacDonald had a farm… Eieio… And on that farm he had a…

‘Another one?’

‘Yes a MooMoo cow’

‘Again? Wow, old MacDonald has a lot of cows eh?’

‘Yes. A MooMoo cow.’

You guessed it, ‘MooMoo cow’…

So old MacDonald is a cattle farmer.

I sang that song for 25 minutes on the way home from Dublin this Friday.

25 minutes.

25 minutes going through every single cow that old MacDonald had on his farm.

Felt like I had Mad Cow Disease.

Toddler obsessions eh?

I suppose, it could be worse.

She temporarily went through an obsession with Daisy Duck’s bum.

I won’t be rude but, well, Daisy doesn’t wear a nappy.

Jack is obsessed with vehicles. Cars are cool, but garbage and fire trucks are higher on the list. Then trains and airplanes. Rockets are number one, though. Everything is a rocket – a toilet paper roll, a pen, a screwdriver, his elbow…he spits all over the place pretending to be a rocket launching. He watches video after video of rocket launches on youtube (“no, not that one, I want to watch that one!”). He builds rockets out of duplos (using palm trees for the “fire”) and stacks magnets on the refrigerator in the shape of a rocket. OBSESSED.

He also loves tools. We’ve had lots of home improvement projects going on around the house and he snags every stray screwdriver or wrench that he can get his hands on. Screwdrivers become rockets and wrenches are dinosaurs. He fixes things “because it’s broken and I need to fix it!”

We can’t forget robots. We watched a bit of Star Wars this weekend and he was highly interested in C3PO and R2D2 (for a good 10 minutes anyway). By the way, it’s a little known fact but if you put a sticker on your chest you become a robot.

I sewed curtains this weekend and Jack watched the sewing machine almost the entire time. When I was working on the last panel of the day he demanded to sit on my lap and help. I hefted him up and held his hand while we guided the fabric under the foot and needle. “I sewed!” he proclaimed when we were done. He beamed with pride.

Saturday Jack repeatedly stretched his arm out to point and mumble a sentence that I couldn’t make out. By the end of the day it was much clearer and I realized he was quoting Mike from Monsters, Inc. saying “Leave the puce!” He also quoted Mr. Waternoose’s line “she’s seen too much!” and copied Boo’s yawning.

This morning he woke up in a rather chatty mood.
“Do you like Miken?” he asked me (Miken is what he calls his Uncle Mike).
“Yes, I like Miken.” I answered.
“He’s cuuuute!” Jack exclaimed. Hilarious!
