Gestern abend waren wir unterwegs. In einer Bar in Downtown Miami war ich von dem Service auf der Toilette überrascht.

Als ich in den Toilettenraum eintrat wurde mir schon die Tür für mein eigenes, “privates” Klo aufgehalten. Als ich dann rauskam machte mir der nette Mann auf dem Foto gleich den Wasserhahn auf und bot mir Seife für meine Hände an.

Nachdem ich die Hände gewaschen hatte, bot er mir sofort ein frisches Papierhandtuch an. Dazu war er immer sehr freundlich und höflich. Wow.

Zusätzlich gab es dann noch verschiedene Parfüms.

Wenn ich da an die Toilettenfrauen in deutschen Bierzelten denke, so ist das schon ein riesen Service-Unterschied.

Am Ende hat er natürlich einen Dollar als Servicepauschale erwartet. Das ist etwas mehr als die bei uns üblichen 50 Euro-Cent. Dafür ist der Service aber auch um Lichtjahre besser.

Diese Art von Toilettenmänner ist hier in den Nachtclubs normal.

Der Kontrast auf dem Foto ist etwas schlecht. Sorry.

Wenn eine schnelle Papiertaschentücher-Marke nicht dafür massiv Werbung gemacht hätte, ich hätte es nicht bemerkt:

am 19.11.2009 war Welttoilettentag.

Da ich beruflich sehr viel unterwegs bin und viel trinke, treibt mich öfter ein dringendes Bedürfnis an. Glücklicherweise gibt es dafür vorbereitete Lösungen:
- Sanitäre Einrichtungen an Tankstellen und Raststätten (immer öfter kostenpflichtig – bekanntlich stinkt Geld ja nicht/ pecunia non olet http://www.jp-magister.de/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=39)
- Schnell-Restaurants
- Autobahn-Parkplätze mit WC
- Öffentliche Toiletten

Oft treffe ich diese letzten beiden Örtlichkeiten in unbeschreiblichem Zustand an. Daneben gibt es unfreundliches WC Personal, das aus einem Innengang während einer geschäftlicher Sitzung das WC Papiermagazin öffnet und Ersatzhandlungen vornimmt. Oder der Verriegelungsmechanismus der Tür funktioniert nicht oder ist komplett verschwunden …

Aber weltweit sieht wesentlich besch..er  aus. Ca. 38% der Weltbevölkerung haben keinen Zutritt zu sauberen, funktionierenden Sanitäranlagen oder es gibt schlichtweg nur den Weg hinter das nächste Gebüsch (wenn vorhanden) – mit entsprechenden hygienischen oder entwürdigenden Folgen.

Und doch verlangen diese Bedürfnisse ihren natürlichen Lauf.

Sollte eine saubere Toilette nicht auch zu den Grundrechten gehören? Das klingt banal, aber wer einmal mit Aufruhr im Bauch stundenlang herumirrte, kann vielleicht ein wenig nachvollziehen, wie andere sich täglich fühlen.

Öffentliches Urinieren ist übrigens an vielen Orten eine Ordnungswidrigkeit …

Da so viele Bilder Ihrer Toiletten oder deren Ausstattung zum Tag der Toilette gebloggt und getwittert haben, will ich mich nicht lumpen lassen. Das folgende Bild hängt in der Herrentoilette meines Arbeitgebers…

Für den Schulerfolg ist das Klo genau so wichtig wie der Klassenraum. Ohne Klassenraum kann man nicht lernen, ohne Klo aber auch nicht. Einige Schulklos sind in einem so erbärmlichen Zustand, dass die Schüler alles tun, um nicht müssen zu müssen.

Und das ist richtig ungesund. Manche Schüler trinken zu wenig, um den Klogang zu vermeiden. Geld stinkt nicht, Schulaborte sehr oft. Wenig Geld für Bildung bewirkt mehr Gestank.

die festgestellt haben, dass in Deutschland die Schultoiletten von den Betreibern mehr als vernachlässigt werden.

Und das stinkt sie an. Zu Recht.

Pochi sanno che nel mondo esiste la World Toilet Organization, il cui obiettivo è di far sì che ogni essere umano possa utilizzare un gabinetto decente, e che ha proclamato per oggi la Giornata Mondiale del Gabinetto, di cui potete scoprire di più sul sito creato per l’occasione, e dove la WTO ci ricorda che ben due miliardi e mezzo di persone non dispongono di un gabinetto che non sia un buco in terra.

Se volete partecipare attivamente, potete fare parte di The Big Squat, che in pratica consiste nell’accucciarsi in un luogo pubblico per almeno un minuto e, se qualcuno vi chiede cosa state facendo, gli potete spiegare per manifestate per il diritto al gabinetto.  Se poi vi fate fare una foto, potete mandarla al gruppo di The Big Squat su Flickr, dove ho trovato la foto delle tre ragazze accucciate.

Fin qui le cose serie.

Ma visto che questo blog è devoto soprattutto alla questioni sentimentali e ai rapporti di coppia, non si può non parlare anche del gabinetto nella nostra vita privata, e delle differenze tra uomini e donne.

C’è la famosa questione della tavoletta alzata o abbassata, che non ho mai capito bene, ma che so è spesso fonte di litigi (a me non è mai capitato, ma sono una persona molto pulita).

C’è il grande punto interrogativo sul perché nei bagni aperti al pubblico dalle donne c’è sempre fila e dagli uomini mai.

C’è la grande questione del leggere in gabinetto, che è una prerogativa prevalentemente maschile, e che molti trovano quasi indispensabile per avere un proficuo rapporto con la toilet.  E chissà se qualche patito dell’essere sempre connessi è arrivato a portarsi in bagno il portatile…

C’è l’altro grande punto interrogativo del perché gli architetti moderni mettono due bagni in un appartamento anche se è grande solo 45 metri quadrati commerciali.

C’è il mistero di come certi riescano a baciarsi o fare sesso in bagno, specie se il bagno in questione è quello di una discoteca, e se siete mai entrati nel bagno della discoteca dopo 1-2 ore dall’apertura, capirete cosa intendo.

C’è infine il dubbio se con tre gatti non mi convenga da un punto di vista economico addestrarli a usare la toilette, perché ho letto che qualcuno c’è riuscito.

Schon gewusst? Heute, am 19. November, ist der Welt-Toilettentag. Kein Witz und wenn man die Hintergründe betrachtet, sogar ein sehr ernstes Thema. 40% der Weltbevölkerung haben nämlich gar keine Gelegenheit eine Toilette zu benutzen. Sie haben diesen weißen Thron einfach nicht. Dadurch gibt es hygienische Probleme und es entstehen Krankheiten. Und das ist wirklich Scheisse.

Nun kann man sich an fünf Fingern abzählen, dass diese Dinge in armen Ländern ein echtes Problem darstellen. Aber auch in Deutschland kann eine fehlende Toilette zum Problem werden.
Beispielsweise dann, wenn man unterwegs ist, dringend muss und das nicht mal eben im Busch erledigen kann – Landeier sind da übrigens klar im Vorteil.

Es gibt sie mittlerweile. Suchmaschinen für öffentliche Toiletten. Ich habe hier als Beispiel einmal die Seite www.gratispinkeln.de rausgesucht. Sie haben über 1000 öffentliche WC`s [steht übrigens für Water Closet] aufgeführt. Wenn man das über Deutschland verteilt, ist das noch nicht viel – aber die Domain hat schon etwas. Grund genug, ausgerechnet diese Suchmaschine als Beispiel zu verlinken.

Und wenn wir schon mal beim Thema sind, können wir auch gleich noch etwas dazulernen. Ich wusste es zumindest noch nicht, vielleicht geht es einigen ja ähnlich:
Toiletten werden deswegen 00 genannt, weil sie im 19.Jahrhundert in Hotels auf den Fluren in Nähe des Treppenhauses oder des Fahrstuhls waren. Ab dort werden auch die Zimmer durchnummeriert, somit war die Toilette das Zimmer “0” bzw. “00” [01, 02 etc. waren dann die eigentlichen Hotelzimmer].
