FUCK YEAH!!!!!! ok, i’m a total nerd. but i am super stoked because thanks to following @sanriojapantown on twitter, i am now a proud owner of a wicked sweet tokidoki for hello kitty 35th anniversary boston bag. and despite the fact that i constantly complain about my job, not every employer would let an employee leave work 2 hours early so she could drive to the sanrio store to get a super limited edition hello kitty bag. ha that makes them hello kitty addiction enablers i might post pics later if i get around to it….i do realize that these bags are overpriced & a little bit silly but i don’t care. at least it’s pretty unique and cute, unlike the yawn inspiring casio x hello kitty baby g watches which are selling for almost $500! hello kitty must’ve been having one of her diva moments because she doesn’t even appear on the watch, just her signature hello kitty bow. it’s like her bow is her vice president, who attends functions that she’s too busy or too lazy or too cool to attend…ha…ultracutegeekbot!

i really want to learn how to draw chibibotness fairly consistently. i’ve tried doing stuff inspired by lil formers and my mr. bear’s drawings, but so far have not been doing as well as i’d like. i’m so tired…i’ve been staying up into the weeeee hours because i’ve been trying to really get time to myself…overall i’m happy to be a parent, but dammit, sometimes i just need some time alone…also, i’ve been trying to get back into drawing as an outlet for all the crap that’s swimming around in my brain…ewww i just realized that makes my brain sound like a sewer…i wonder if i have pizza eating teenage mutant ninja turtles living in my brain?

as i’m sure you can guess, i love tokidoki

my little boy who is almost 18 months old also loves tokidoki! whenever he sees me wearing tokidoki he always points, smiles and sometimes squeals excitedly! my son is a tall string bean and is currently wearing size 2T.

herein lies the problem: most online retailers who carry tokidoki bambino clothing either don’t carry items in toddler sizes or if they carry toddler sizes, they only carry them for girls. so far even the official tokidoki website does not have the tokidoki bambino for toddler line up for sale yet (for boys or girls).

the only two websites that seem to carry tokidoki bambino for toddler boys are:

i probably will end up getting my son stuff from the giant peach but would really really love to see more reputable online retailers selling tokidoki bambino toddler clothing for boys. in the meantime, i at least have a simone legno for target t-shirt that i bought for when my boy gets a little bit older so at least i know he will be able to share some of the ultracuteness of simone legno’s art inspired apparel with me.

i’m super bummed that i can’t go to the grand opening of the tokidoki store on melrose in LA on december 12th. i was really hoping to meet simone legno again! who knows maybe he will be at wondercon 2010? and if not wondercon, maybe comiccon 2010?

So this is the last weekend of Hello Kitty’s 35th Anniversary celebration.  I didn’t make it up to LA for the festivities, but I am excited about the new Hello Kitty x Tokidoki collab.  Take a look:

In honor of our dear friend, miss cynthia, leaving us for washington… I decided to put this together. For some reason, she is in love with Tokidoki.. so they earned a spot in the photobook as well. Now she can have something on her desk to remind her of home (and not look weird for having a desk full of tokidoki stuff).

So I bought a bunch (10) zipper pull blind boxes and got one (1) that I wanted, LOL! The silver lining is trading, whee! Saturday, Oct. 24th, I attended the Hello Kitty Super Fan Day at Royal/T in Culver City, CA. It was an event filled weekend with artist signings by Hello Kitty head designer, Yuko Yamaguchi, and Tokidoki creator Simone Legno. In addition there was the  launching of a variety of special, limited edition products, and the introduction of the Three Apples Exhibition, a multi-dimensional exhibition and celebration of all things Hello Kitty running from October 23 to November 15th. Admission is free and is located at 8910 Washington St., Culver City, CA 90232

Three Apples — so named as a nod to Hello Kitty’s weight as listed in her official bio – features an unprecedented lineup of over 80 celebrated artists, who’ve been invited to interpret their creative vision of Hello Kitty in unique, original works that will be on display and for sale. The art exhibition at Three Apples will be curated by Jamie Rivadeneira, owner of JapanLA, a Los Angeles boutique that specializes in “cute” Japanese and American products. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the artwork will benefit L.A. Works, a volunteer action center that creates and implements hands-on community service projects throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

i can’t wait to post my pics from Three Apples (the Hello Kitty exhibition)….and i keep thinking about how nice Simone Legno (Tokidoki creator and ultra nice guy!!!) was! I am still a little bit annoyed about the fact that the Three Apples Super Fan Appreciation day was more like a Test-how-long-you-can-stand-on-the-sidewalk-in-line (we had to wait in line to get in from approx. 8:30 am to 10 something am, then we had to wait in line again from 10 something until past 1pm for the signing with Simone & Hello Kitty Mama, then we had to wait in line again to go to the Pop Up Shop.) I still don’t understand why an event with such an established following was held in a venue that small….

The Tiger Army show at the Wiltern was unbelievably awesome! so glad i had the chance to hear “Hechizo de Amor” LIVE!!!!!!!!! apparently they had only played it live at a show once before saturday night! i feel honored and privileged!!!!!!!!!!! Miss Derringer was really really good too! I had never heard of them or their music before and now Mr. Teddybearface and I are totally hooked! “All the pretty things” is a great song! I love it! Weeeeeeeeee…follow up post later…

Update: 11/18: decided not to do a follow up post because all it would be is a litany of complaints about standing in line and how much i wanted the tokidoki x hello kitty 35th anniversary boston bag but they were sold out by the time i got to the pop up shop. however, here are some of the pics i took, since that was pretty much all there was to do in line for over 6 hours…see? i’m already whining!

Space Kitty

The event was so named “Three Apples” as a tribute to Hello Kitty’s weight, as listed on her profile, and the event was a complete success. It was literally packed with attendees and a massive line around the block of Washington Blvd and Robertson Blvd where Royal/T Maid Café sits in Culver City.

The exhibition itself will run at Royal-T from 10/23/09 to 11/15/09 with many event parties during it’s duration. Our Hello Kitty’s Bats & Cats Masquerade (listed as Goth Party on Sanrio.Com) will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 8PM – 12Midnight. More information on this party can be found here.

Also featured at this exhibition are limited edition items ranging from collectibles, purses, accessories, house/kitchen ware. Bubble Punch staffer Chubby Bunny also has limited edition patent red Hello Kitty bows that were made specifically for this event!

Many glittering stars came out to see the collection of artwork, fashion, and limited release items. Celebrities like Paris Hilton, Tarina Tarantino, Dave Navarro (yes, from Red Hot Chili Peppers/Jane’s Addiction), Kimora Lee Simmons, Mayhem Miller (MTV’s Bully Beatdown), Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly), and Onch (Paris’ My New BFF) were in attendance.
