Invariably at this time of year, questions come up about what kind of gift or present is appropriate

Invariably at this time of year, questions come up about what kind of gift or present is appropriate for various people. For instance, should you give your letter carrier or trash collecting guy some cash? These are serious questions but that’s not what I want to talk about.

I want to talk about how to deal with… how should I say it?…illegitimate children. Over the years, I have collected a fair amount of “extra” children and always feel compelled to do something special for them for Christmas.

Let me be clear, I am not a deadbeat dad. I know most of these kids names and roughly what years they were born. There is Hermann, Mary, Shaniqua, Consuelo, Bubba, Ishmael (I was going through a Bob Dylan phase), Cadillac, and Stumpy. Stumpy was actually born with the name Delbert but since he has no feet, we call him Stumpy. (Apparently, his condition may be related to the fact that I slept with my 1st cousin. Man, was she hot).

Each year, I try to take care of these kids and send them gifts. The older ones are easy to shop for. Beer and tobacco products pretty much take care of them. As for the younger ones under 12, well, it gets a little more complicated. They need individual gifts like air rifles for the boys and mini stripper poles for the girls. (So they can grow up to be just like their mamas).

Another problem I have is how to sign the attached gift tag. Most of these kids have had several dads so just writing “dad” leaves them hopelessly confused. Sometimes I write “TL” but I have shared many of the same women with Tommy Lee and you can see how that is an issue. Sometimes I write “banged your mama in ‘74″ but I have trouble keeping the dates in order.

Now, before you judge me and tell me what a horrible person I am, know that I also have had 7 or 8 dads. So it should be no surprise that I learned to “share my love” at a young age with a variety of women. Look, if I had more room in my trailer, I might even would let some of these young ‘uns live with me but the lack of room makes it impossible. However, I faithfully play my lucky lotto number and when I hit it big these kids are going to share the wealth with me. (Except Stumpy. Honestly, I just can’t look at that kid without feeling a little queasy).

However, until the lucky lotto day comes, or they all end up in a federal penitentiary, I will keep trying to do the right thing by my children. If any of you that have used the Dewey Decimal system or are good with numbers and letters can help me with a better system to deliver these presents, I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks, TL

Here’s a cute picture of me and little Hermann playing.

NABIL combined the most basic elements of 808s and Heartbreak – tech and raw humanity – to create this apropos masterpiece of 2009. Like West, NABIL did not try to beautify the chaos that catalyzed the creative process; he delved deeper into the distortion. In doing so, he reflected Kanye’s core and the video organically unfolded to reveal the method behind the mind of a tormented genius.

Tommy Lee and Frank Zummo promoting their new event. Sounds like Cirque Du Soleil meets the Macy’s Parade. Last time I saw Tommy we did a new thing called a “webcast” in like 2001 at the old DrDrew.com.

I love that he is a fan of Sex Rehab. Phil Varone will be tickled since Tommy is his idol and inspiration.

BTW drove in today listening on Kevin & Bean to Fletcher’s (Pennywise) exploits at Universal Studios. That guys does not change but never disappoints. I just don’t want to be locked in a studio with him again. Listen to the Kevin & Bean interview here.

So, I’ve decided to rename my junk Yes you read that right, rename- as in my dick and balls already

So, I’ve decided to rename my junk

Yes you read that right, rename- as in my dick and balls already have a name. Yes, they do. Here is the story.

My senior year of high school the marching band and I went down to Florida. But before that, in Physics, Conner Randal (I don’t remember his real name so, let’s just call him that) and I were talking about the trip. Jeff was not going, because he is “too cool” for band, but in reality, he was waaay too cool for band, and also not talented at music whatsoever. Anyway, since I was going to a state with a high Latin American population, we got onto the subject of hot Latinas.

Jeff said, “Latinas are almost always hot. You should try to score with one while you’re down there.”

“Yea!” I exclaimed, “I bet there will be tons working at the hotel.”

That was basically the end of the conversation, but my mind kept going. I couldn’t stop thinking about how awesome it would be if I could nail a hot Cuban day laborer while I was down there. what insued was a fantasy that I am going to share with you now. Brace yourselves.

"Yo quiero ser tu mujer," the sexy latina whispered into my ear.

My friends leave the hotel room without me, either because they are dicks, or I secretly know what’s going to happen so I leave after them because I don’t want them cock-blocking me. Either way, I am walking down the corridor alone and dripping with sexual energy. Or maybe sweat, I cannot tell because of how horny I am. As I head toward the elevator, I see an incredibly sexy maid drop her feather duster. Ignoring the fact that this hotel is the only facility left on the planet that still employs the “feather duster method,” I pick it up and hand it to her. our eyes meet. We stare, only for a moment or two, but we stare all the same. She looks just like what you would expect a woman who is some kind of Spanish would look like, but 500 times hotter. Why she is working as a maid and not a model, you ask? Because that would not be consistent with the story, now would it?

“Oh, muchas gracias senior,” she said as she took the feather duster with my hand, and tickled my epic pecs with the feathers.

“Don’t mention it,” I said smoothly, while lighting a cigarette.

What I look like when I light up.

She then said, “Oy Papi, I am so hungry, do you have anything to eat.”

I gave her a little smile and said, “Well you can have a taste of El Churro Gigantico.”

At that moment, my mind came to a screeching halt. El Churro Gigantico. That was all I could think about. That name- for my dick. Can you say Hells to the yea?!?! From there, keeping with the ethnic foods theme, I named my left ball “Matzo,” and my right, “Swedish Meat.”

But that was four years ago. I have grown as a person since then (Or at least for purposes of this blog I have,) I don’t hang out with anyone that I did from highschool, and I feel I should name my junk something that reflects who I am now. I have compiled a list of names for my dick, along with the reason I am conseidering it, the pros of the name, and the cons of the name. Here they are:

Pheonix

Name for balls: ?

Reason: Because just as a phoenix dies and is then reborn, a boner will go flaccid and then become hard again.

Pros: The phoenix is a fucking awesome creature, plus they’re mythical, so people could come to believe that my dick is that of legends.

Cons: Phoenix is also the name of a mutant in the X-men series who generally tends to fuck shit right up. No that might not sound so bad, but in the movie, she also killed people, and I don’t want my dick to be associated with murder- or do I? And, it could also lead people to believe that I am a fire crotch. I would rather people believe that my shindig is dangerous than believe that it is covered in red hair [gag.]

2. President Taft

Name for balls: members of his cabinet- Richard Ballinger, and Jacob Dickinson. I swear I did not make those up.

Reason: because my dick is always getting stuck in things

Pros: Taft will finally be remembered for something other than the bathtub incident

Cons: Taft was a racist by today’s standards. And my dick does not see color, mainly because it has no eyes.

3. Tommy Lee

AKA walking bag of STDs

Name for balls: Motley and Crue, or just refer to them as his Motley Crue

Reason: I think this one is self explanatory

Pros: this could insinuate that the real Tommy Lee is a dick, or that my dick is huge

Cons: my dick will contract Hepatitis from being named that

4. The Fountain of Youth

Name for the balls: ?

Reason: because what woman doesn’t want to look young forever

Pros: I could get cougars with a name like this

Cons: I could also get hags and women with a piss fetish. Also, I could get sued for false advertizing

5. Tommy Gun

Name for balls: loaded magazines 1 &2

Reason: because my dick can shoot projectiles that could have the potential of being named Tommy one day.

Pros: This could insinuate that I am a prohibition era gangster

Cons: There are dozens of more awesome guns out there these days. A Tommy gun is very, very outdated. Most of them probably don’t even work anymore. Can you see where I am going with this?

So those are my ideas so far, but I still need more. This is where you, my readers come in. If you have any ideas for what I should name my junk, then I want you to put the idea in the comments below. You can post a comment even if you don’t have a WordPress account; just leave your email (no one sees it. It is to notify you when I reply to it.)

My one rule is that the name you come up with must follow is the “How to lose a guy in 10 days rule.” IE, no cutesy, girly crap, it has to be masculine, and incredibly awesome. Also, if you have suggestions for my balls for #s 1 and 4, they would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and Misty (I know you’re reading this), your comment on my last blog gave me the idea for this one, so thanks.

Peace

Oh, and if you were wondering if i got laid on the Florida trip by a sexy maid, i did not, but I did get hit on by a bunch of girls from Spain. So that was pretty cool.

As the last horse rounded the bend for the final furlong, the glasses all drained of champagne and the Birdcage all but a glimmer of its housing of celebrities and glamor it was time to call it a day on what has been an incredible ride for four days during the 149th Melbourne Cup Week for 2009.

Not straying to far away from the action, the days started with papin the crowd of race goers in the morning, then followed with a splash of fashion at the inaugural “Fashion on the Fields” which was over seen by Jeff Banks, with a pit stop to the L’oreal Tent it was off to finish the rest of the day in the Birdcage, hopping from Marquee to Marquee, however the place to be was “Lavazza Bar” which seemed to have all the action on each of the days.

The entertainment was excellent, the atmosphere was electric, the guests and celebrities just having fun and once every so often it all stopped for the sound of hooves thundering over a grassy track and then it was back to partying hard.

Some of the celebrities that I had the pleasure of meeting were: Nadia Townsend, Simone Callahan & Shane Warne, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Kate Waterhouse & Lara Bingle, George Colombaris & Matt Preston, Laura Dundovic, Richard Nylon & Gwendolynne Burki, Steve Hooker & Ekaterina Kostetskaya, Tommy Lee, Joel & Benji Madden from Good Charlotte, Simon Westaway, Rachael Finch, Rebecca Twigley and Kate Twigley, Alannah Hill, Guy Grossi, Jeff Banks, Michael Klim and Lindy Klim, Ashley Roberts from the Pussy Cat Dolls, Emma Freedman, Daniel Macpherson just to name a few, so you can imagine the four days were a blast.

Last week, I came across an interesting creative website called IdeaBounty.com. This online social think tank “provides a secure channel for the world-wide creative community to offer solutions to creative briefs. A reward or ‘Bounty’ is offered for the Idea that best answers the brief and the contributor of the Winning Idea gets the cash.” Brands such as Red Bull, BMW, Castle Lager and most recently Peparami have all posted briefs on the site and awarded money prizes to winning creatives for their ideas. This new form of mass collaboration is now being referred to as “crowdsourcing.” It’s a relatively new concept but one that’s starting to generate a lot of buzz in the advertising world. Most recently, musician Tommy Lee, IBM and Woot.com have received attention for their crowdsourcing efforts. But what does the future hold for this innovative creative brainstorming phenomena and why should people care? Before I try and answer these questions I thought it might be a good idea to first define the term“crowdsourcing” since it’s relatively new term.

So, what is crowdsourcing?
Jeff Howe originally coined the term “crowdsourcing” in 2006 in a Wired magazine article to describe a new form of creation that was carried out not by an individual, but by a community of people. Another helpful definition is the one provided by Wikipedia, which was one of the first hugely successful crowdsourcing platforms ever created. Ironically, the definition below has been created, revised and edited by dozens of people so it epitomizes the true essence of crowdsourcing.

“Crowdsourcing is a distributed problem-solving and production model. Problems are broadcast to group of solvers in the form of an open call for solutions. Users — also known as the crowd — typically form into online communities, and the crowd submits solutions. The crowd can also sort through solutions to find the best ones. These best solutions are then owned by the entity that broadcast the problem in the first place — the crowdsourcer — and the winning individuals in the crowd are sometimes rewarded. In some cases, this labor is well compensated, either monetarily, with prizes, or with recognition. In other cases, the only rewards may be kudos or intellectual satisfaction. Crowdsourcing may produce solutions from amateurs or volunteers working in their spare time, or from experts or small businesses which were unknown to the initiating organization.”

Why should a brand care about crowdsourcing?
While some brands have had projects in the past that have contained crowdsourcing elements, readily available emerging social media platforms and online tools that are largely free and easy to use means crowdsourcing is becoming a beneficial strategic approach, not to mention a cost-effective one. Additionally, customers these days almost expect to participate with brands. MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and blogging have all been successful because they involve people having the ability to co-create and lead their own creative experiences. The sheer volume of people within these social communities has forced brands to create innovative and engaging solutions in order to reach and interact with customers. Starbucks, Dell, Best Buy, LG and Nike have all created digital platforms that allow customers to help them create new products and message.

What are some of the benefits of crowdsourcing?
- Get creative work done for relatively cheap
- Able to select creative work from a large talent pool
- Ability to improve productivity and creativity
- Use the Internet to gather valuable feedback from an active and enthusiastic community reducing research expenses and time spent sifting through focus group data
- Involve willing and passionate customers in collaborative process reducing staffing costs
- Provide an opportunity to promote upcoming marketing initiatives and products, hopefully generating brand “buzz” through social media channels
- Able to build relationships with creative talent for possible future fulltime hire

What is the future of crowdsourcing?
First off, if you think crowdsourcing is only popular because of the poor economic times you’re gravely mistaken. The recession will eventually go away but crowdsourcing is here to stay. Like anything it will evolve with the times but the founding concept will be used for years to come. As crowdsourcing continues to build momentum several challenges and questions will need to be addressed. The biggest challenge will be to figure out how to fairly compensate people for their ideas. While I myself am a fan of crowdsourcing, I recognize the obvious issues it presents when it comes to salary and wages for anyone pursuing a career in advertising, marketing and graphic design. I wish I had a magic answer to this dilemma but crowdsourcing is so new that no one really has an answer at this point.

The biggest question facing the use of crowdsourcing is how will it affect all business models no matter the industry. Major changes will need to take place within all business models but creative agencies will need to make changes first as they are the ones most directly affected. Agencies that embrace the crowd community and figure out how to incorporate crowdsourcing into their overall business model will be the ones that are seen as industry leaders and will be the ones that gain the most in the new brand world we are entering into.

What are your thoughts on crowdsourcing? Looking at successful uses of crowdsourcing, which industries do you think are prime candidates for a crowdsourcing solution?

Ladies and gentlemen, Susie Essman is in the building – a Jewish temple in bucolic East Brunswick, N.J., as a matter of fact.

“Now I’m here with all you lovely Jews,” she said last night with a smile.

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star’s appearance included a Q&A and book signing to promote her recently released memoir, “What Would Susie Say? Bullsh*t Wisdom About Love, Life and Comedy,” at Temple B’nai Shalom. The event, coordinated by the Friends’ Health Connection, was $35 and included a copy of the book which Susie graciously signed at the end of the evening.

Naturally, much of the conversation – which was artfully moderated by Susie’s good friend, comedian/actor/former “Saturday Night Live” writer Alan Zweibel – revolved around Susie’s experiences playing her “Curb” alter ego, the wonderfully foul-mouthed Susie Greene.

She admitted that when hired by Larry David to do the show, she was reticent when “LD” (as Larry refers to himself) instructed her to curse out her co-star and “Curb” husband, Jeff Garlin, in an episode called “The Wire.”

“Rip Jeff a new a**hole,” she recalled was the only direction Larry gave her. And after a bit of cajoling, this was the result:

“He let the genie out of the bottle,” Susie said with a laugh.

She revealed that she and Larry have never had a discussion about who Susie Greene is, and that she was the one who came up with Susie’s crazy taste in clothes.

“Susie is a very simplistic character,” she explained. “You don’t cross her, and you definitely don’t cross her kid.”

She said she’s pretty good at holding it together during filming and doesn’t laugh, but that this week’s episode, “Officer Krupke,” sent her over the edge.

When Larry dropped his pants, “just seeing those spindly legs” was enough to crack her up.

Her favorite episode, though, is “The Doll.” She said that was the first time the “Spaghetti western music that’s become my theme song” (I love that music!) was used.

“I don’t know what’s funnier than (screaming), ‘Get me the f***ing head!’” she laughed.

Susie said that despite the fact that most of actors on the show go by their own names – Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Michael York, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jerry Seinfeld, Michael Richards (you get the picture) – they’re not necessarily playing themselves.

“The only one who is who you think he is is Richard Lewis,” she said.

(Which is a pretty interesting statement, considering his actions in the funniest episode so far of this season, “Vehicular Fellatio.” Clip please:)

“People don’t understand that it’s not reality TV,” Susie added.

Alan agreed, saying that he was just out with Jeff Garlin this week, and people were coming up to Jeff and cursing at him for cheating on Susie – Susie Greene, that is.

Although Susie enjoys being on “Curb,” she said she would like the opportunity to explore different roles… like perhaps on “Mad Men.”

“It’s so beautifully written,” she gushed. “Those characters are so fully drawn.”

You hear that, Matthew Weiner?

One thing is for certain: When Larry originally contacted her about “Curb,” she had no idea it would turn out to be anywhere near as popular its become.

“I never planned to make a living telling people to go f*** themselves,” she said.

A bit about Alan

When Alan Zweibel first came out, I realized my friend Mary Ann and I (who I was again with last night) had seen him perform earlier this year in “Celebrity Autobiography” (also with Susie Essman!) in New York City. He read a hysterical passage from Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee’s memoir, “Tommyland.” Alan, it turns out, was one of the original writers for “Saturday Night Live” and was good friends with Gilda Radner, for whom he wrote her iconic character, Roseanne Roseannadanna. In fact, he’s written a book about that relationship, “Bunny, Bunny: Gilda Radner, A Sort of Romantic Comedy.” Just the little bit he recounted last night was enough to make me want to read the book (and thanks to Franklin Township Public Library, I soon will be!). Alan also talked about his life working in the biz (he’s good friends with Billy Crystal) and his own experiences with Larry David (he was a consultant on “Curb” for a couple of years).

“We all knew that someday the rest of the world will catch up with him,” Alan said, explaining that audiences didn’t seem to appreciate Larry’s sense of humor back in the days when he worked comedy clubs.

Susie agreed, recalling that she and her best friend, Joy Behar, used to hang out with Larry and listen to him complain about women and dating.

“It was all the George stories,” she said and confirmed that “The Phone Message” episode (clip above) was straight out of Larry’s life.

At the end of the evening, Alan hung around the lobby as Susie signed books. He also took the time out to talk with people, signed several of Susie’s books himself and was nice enough to pose for photos, like the one below with me.

The sun is in Scorpio and the moon is in Aquarius. Your friends understand your point of view and t

The sun is in Scorpio and the moon is in Aquarius. Your friends understand your point of view and they all agree with you. Unfortunately everyone doesn’t fall into that category. Somebody is rather annoying right now and refuses to see things your way. Since you are a pretty strong character, you think that anyone who doesn’t go along with your ideas is grossly in error. Unfortunately this other person is a pretty strong character, too, and shares the same opinion of your behaviour. You may have to agree to disagree and let it go at that. Worse things have happened.

A near exact description of the E/ V situation.
Accept the fact that we will be locked, and forget about it. Locked, blocked, at odds.

Yes, look at your history – therein lies the answer – I thought that I would somehow be different – that my essence would somehow evoke a new era – but she proceeded on her course oblivious. How then, seeing, could I assume that my mere presence could change her fundamental state? Not core state, nor Corestates – where I bank, but a person is an onion. Start peeling back the layers and tears will soon follow.
Cheesy metaphor.

A frightening aspect of computer based absorption of information – it takes the lab rat approach – push the button and out pops a tasty morsel. Digital multimedia is linear and progressive by satisfying the craving to affect an exact one to one cause and effect relationship. Each click has a direct immediate result – then on to the next click.

An interaction with text in digital multimedia environment does not, as far as I know, evoke a relationship that is set aside, while other related relationships are developed, and then returned to (say four days later) where the resulting relationship is tied back into the original conception of that first relationship.

Take the new nonlinear narrative Div 3 Hampshire College – a description of a character’s makeup was produced interactively, the participant drew from lists of several subjects and plugged the chosen words into three compartments – a predetermined answer was then delivered. Bang – immediate payoff. Depending on the complexity of conceptual relationships evoked, that payoff could be more or less simplistic – the viewer/ user still left to draw his or her own conclusions – but this particular interaction with the text was compartmentalized and not even partially integrated into the other elements of the greater text – save through the more traditional models of narrative – relations of ideas.

Oops. Just dropped the yellow pages behind the couch.
Now time for a little descriptive writing. My ass itches. The hair begins to grow in again – stubble a constant subtle itching torture.

Now for more self excavation. I’ve just figured out how V deals with things to absolve herself of responsibility for her own actions

For example – SM – he wanted to – ie he acted – if not for him – no nookie – but who contributed to creating the environment wherein such things were admitted? Tough fucking deal… where to draw the line? Not tuff fucking deal – that’s too bad for you – but tuff fucking deal – this is a difficult issue.

My fault she had to leave relationship.
My fault she got together with P.
My fault she called J’s house.
My fault she attacked me in garage.

etc.

I created the environment that enabled such behaviour – therefore – her fault I got together with J, her fault I punched hole in door, her fault I became a nervous wreck, her fault I think and write and say horrible things about her. Her fault I snooped through her mail… she drove me to it.
takes two to tango, two to tango.

This entire thing is such a muddled mess. One could easily exchange the her faults for the my faults and get no further than I have just done – but – interesting to elucidate these relations… the conclusions that can be drawn from such an examination, or thought experiment.

I should really be getting some work done on projects – so damn cold in this haus/ apartment. Why did I spell house haus? Am I the reincarnation of some Immanuel Kraut? Krant?

A sinking floating feeling of anxiety. What will happen next? Will anything happen? What should I do about it? Should I do anything? The apartment is cold. Sitting around doing work – the idea makes it that much colder. A cold idea, cold chair, cold feet, stiff fingers and toes.

Warm tea, warm radiator, warm woman. warm and understanding, not warm and squishy. Thus I distance myself away from today, closer to someday. Someday there will be someone for me – independent of all this.

I feel like Heavy D, I need somebody for me.

Thank you Conan O’Brien for putting things even more clearly into perspective.
One day this past summer V and I were walking down South Street and some “cool” kid rode by on a bicycle – V pointed out his hairdo and said “See, that’s the hair (haircut?) I want, I mean, I wanted you to have.”

Tonight on Conan O’Brien, Mötley Crüe performed their first ever tv broadcast of Dr. Feelgood – and Tommy Lee had the same (almost, but not quite) exact spiky hair that V had wanted me to sport… a beautiful and touching irony. I can ask for nothing more. After praising this particular television show – I felt somewhat disappointed that the opening segments did not live up to my expectations – but the skit from guest (have not remembered name) on the New York of today – awesome – and then MÖTLEY CRÜE sublime – Ha! Another level of irony – since you – bitch – were really and truly the one out sucking someone else’s dick. Fuck the just turning twenty something kids of today… you all don’t know shit…
