So, I dunno about everyone else, but, I have a thing for basics. I like the things that you can wear

So, I dunno about everyone else, but, I have a thing for basics. I like the things that you can wear with anything; because of that, I decided to add some basic turtlenecks to my clothing collection for both men and women. I also released a version that is a little more risque for anyone wanting to turn up the heat or…if you just want your man to look at you and see how cold it is outside.

For women, I released a version that I think looks pretty soft. My friend said it looked like cashmere so it kinda got that as its name. It comes in a wide assortment of colours to meet everyone’s taste (I hope). It also comes in all layers with sculpted neck and sleeve attachments.

Since I make so many colours, I introduced colour packs at my store with this last release; since fatpacks of like, 20 colours can be a bit much for the inventory to handle. Now you can get 4 colour Plump Packs of my newest female items and hopefully, some of the older ones in the near future.

I didn’t forget about the guys either. I also released a set of turtlenecks for men. It comes in not as many colours, simply because I don’t see many men running around in doll pink, peach or pale yellow. It happens, just not often. To make things a little better for the guys, I included two sleeve types, one that is long sleeved and the other that is slightly rolled up. Again, they come in all layers for wear with jackets or as sleeves underneath tee shirts, etc. and have sculpted sleeve and neck attachments. I also introduced colour packs for guys, all colours are available in the Husky Pack or get a set of 3 colours in the Lil Chub Packs.

Last but not least, the something risque…While I was working on the turtlenecks, a thought came to mind. Winter = female built in thermostats. I giggled a bit and made this crop. Then I thought, hey, I never saw piercings done in SL under shirts. They may have them but I’ve never seen them. Well, the other two versions of this happened next. This top also comes in like a gazillion colours and each colour has three options. One for pierced with hoops, one for pierced with barbells and the last, non-pierced. As always, all layers.

Quirky, gorgeous, vocal, affectionate and plays rough, that’s my Olive! Only she isn’t my Olive. I’ve been falling more and more in love with her and learning her grooves and the meaning of her tone (like that urgent yowling I get in the early evening when she wants wet food vs. the inquisitive short little question mew I get when she wants to know whether it’s play time or lap time) but she’s not my Olive. I’ve finally learned that a little ball of tin foil is much preferred over the organic cotton catnip mouse or the felt ball with bells but she isn’t my Olive. You see, the shelter made a little mistake three months ago when letting me take her home instead of giving her back to her original guardian, so now it’s time to give Olive back to the man who has loved her for years. So, though my only previous post on Olive was one aimed at shedding light on the ways in which Olive gently terrorizes me and my sleep at times, this one is the ten things I love best and will miss most about Olive.

1. Chatty Kathy
This girl is a talker! Morning, noon and night she chatters, yells or chirps away announcing her entrance, requesting permission to land or simply giving fair warning that things are about to get ugly if her favorite food is not in that dish in 30 seconds. Seriously.

2. Smarty-pants
Okay, this cat is abnormally smart, even for a cat. She knows exactly what I mean by “no” and “stay” when I’m about to open the front door and responds to a very civil “down” when on the dresser or table. She also plays fetch like a dog. I should’ve known I was in trouble when she escaped her cardboard carrying case on our first ride home from the shelter!

3. Risky Business Tycoon
The first thing Olive did when I brought her home is get as high as she could, walking up above my kitchen cupboards. And last week she jumped up on the 1/2 inch balcony ledge from the floor with perfect calm.

4. Mink Coat Showoff
This girl has the silkiest softest fur on the cat planet, like a sable (and the color of one, too). You can’t not pet her every chance you get.

5. Shoulder Percher
Every night when I get home from work, she is immediately at the door rolling around and stretching then as soon as I bend down, she is on hind legs reaching for her favorite spot – hugging my neck perched have on my shoulder, half on my chest purring away and kissing and nuzzling my cheeks.

6. Knee Sleeper
Olive, though contradictory to some of the late-night cat attacks I’ve experienced when she’s upset or hungry, is a very sound sleeper. She sleeps, as Jenny’s Gloria does, tucked up in my knees. We’re both side-sleepers.

7. Seaside Eye Flutterer
Olive has the most amazing aquamarine eyes you’ll ever see. I’ve read it’s the breed (she’s a Tonkinese) and they are the only ones who have them, but whatever it is, she’s a princess through and through.

8. Schweepy Snorer
Olive has the sweetest little nosey kitty snore. Period.

9. Sink-a-holic
Olive drinks out of the bathroom sink. That’s it. Not the kitchen sink, not her bowl, not the toilet. Just the bathroom sink faucet on a slow drizzle.

10. Late Riser
Granted, once in a while (often when she first arrived) Olive gets up at that weird 4 am time slot and wrecks havoc on my dreams. But usually, when I wake up in the morning, she is still asleep in that ball behind my knees. I stir (an unusually late-riser for a corporate girl), she stirs. I stretch, she stretches. Then I give a soft little drawn-out, “Oooooliiiiive” and she makes her way to that little nook in between my neck and shoulder for a little snooz-cuddle-snooz-we don’t really need a shower-snooz time before we start our days.

It seems that Kroenke Tonk Stan’s (KTS) increased stake in the club has been confirmed and for me it is a good thing. It helps keep Usmanov at bay and it may, hopefully, result in some extra transfer funds being made available for the boss as I am sure that KTS won’t want to see his investment’s value drop so soon after making such a sizeable investment.

Elsewhere, current and former players are pointing out our problem areas and how they should be addressed. There is nothing really new in them and it is nothing that hasn’t been covered on this and other Arsenal blogs before. If you are interested in them Petit talks here, Silvestre here, Van Persie here. Van Persie tells ATVO that he feels sorry for the Arsenal fans and let me just assure him that we feel sorry for ourselves too.

Now, I think Arshavin is a top class player that undoubtedly improves our squad.
Ancient Period, upto 1200 AD

Rajput clans emerged and held their sway over different parts of Rajasthan from about 700 AD. Before that, Rajasthan was a part of several republics. It was a part of the Mauryan Empire. Other major republics that dominated this region include the Malavas, Arjunyas, Yaudhyas, Kushans, Saka Satraps, Guptas and Hunas. The Rajput clans ascendancy in Indian history was during the period from the eighth to the twelfth century AD. The Pratihars ruled Rajasthan and most of northern India during 750-1000 AD. Between 1000-1200 AD, Rajasthan witnessed the struggle for supremacy between Chalukyas, Parmars and Chauhans.

Medieval Period, 1201 – 1707

Around 1200 AD a part of Rajasthan came under Muslim rulers. The principal centers of their powers were Nagaur and Ajmer. Ranthanbhor was also under their suzerainty. At the beginning of the 13th century AD, the most prominent and powerful state of Rajasthan was Mewar.

Modern Period, 1707 – 1947

Rajasthan had never been united politically until its domination by Mughal Emperor – Akbar. Akbar created a unified province of Rajasthan. Mughal power started to decline after 1707. The political disintegration of Rajasthan was caused by the dismemberment of the Mughal Empire. The Marathas penetrated Rajasthan upon the decline of the Mughal Empire. In 1755 they occupied Ajmer. The beginning of the 19th Century was marked by the onslaught of the Pindaris. In 1817-18 the British Government concluded treaties of alliance with almost all the states of Rajputana. Thus began the British rule over Rajasthan, then called Rajputana.

The history of Rajasthan is about 5000 years old and the mythological origin of this gigantic land is related to the famous myth of Ram, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The history of Rajasthan can be classified into three parts owing to the different epochs- Ancient, Medieval and Modern. According to the Hindu Mythology, the Rajputs of Rajasthan were the descendants of the Kshatriyas or warriors of Vedic India. The emergence of the Rajput warrior clans was in the 6th and 7th centuries. Rajputs ancestry can be divided into two: the “solar” or suryavanshi-those descended from Rama, the hero of the epic Ramayana, and the “lunar” or chandravanshi, who claimed descent from Krishana, the hero of the epic Mahabharata. Later a third clan was added, the agnikula or fire-born, said to have emerged from the flames of a sacrificial fire on Mt Abu. It has been accepted that the Rajputs were divided into thirty-six races and twenty-one kingdoms. The Rajput clans gave rise to dynasties like Sisodias of Mewar (Udaipur), the Kachwahas of Amber (Jaipur), the Rathors of Marwar (Jodhpur & Bikaner), the Hadas of Jhalwawar, Kota & Bundi, the Bhattis of Jaisalmer, the Shekhawats of Shekhawati and the Chauhans of Ajmer. The ancient history of Rajasthan belongs to 1200 AD when Rajasthan was a part of different dynasties including the glorious Mauryan Empire in around (321-184 BC). The Dundhmer region was the first Aryan settlement and the first inhabitants of this area were the Bhil and the Mina. The earliest Rajput dynasty that emerged around 700 AD was the Gurjara Partiharas and since then Rajasthan was cited as Rajputana (the land of the Rajputs). During the eighth – twelfth century AD, the Rajput clan gained supremacy and the Rajputs were divided into 36 royal clans and 21 dynasties. The armed conflicts and the struggle for supremacy among the Parmars, Chalukyas, and Chauhans around 1000-1200 AD resulted in a lot of bloodshed. In this medieval era around 1200 AD, the major regions of Rajasthan such as Nagaur, Ajmer and Ranthanbhor came under the Mughal hegemony headed by the Mughal ruler- Akbar. The most famous Rajput warriors who represented the vigor and valiance of the Rajput dynasty and whose tales of chivalry are still imprinted in the sands of Rajasthan were Rana Uday Singh, his son Rana Pratap, Bhappa Rawal, Rana Kumbha and Prithviraj Chauhan and others. With the end of the Mughal regime in1707, the Marathas gained supremacy and captured Ajmer in1775. The Maratha ascendancy ended in the late 17th century with the British suzerainty in 1817-18. In 1stNovember, 1956 the state of present day Rajasthan came into existence after the amalgamation of the princely states.

Obsidian has announced that it will soon commence official training courses for the ‘Certified Ubuntu Professional’ programme. As per the press release on the Ubuntu website, South Africa will provide leading facilities for training of Ubuntu Linux professionals.

Obsidian has announced that it will soon commence official training for the ‘Ubuntu Certified Professional’ programme. Obsidian has concluded an agreement with Canonical Ltd, the commercial sponsor of Ubuntu Linux that allows for the company to provide training beginning March 2008.

Robin Edser, Technology Manager of Obsidian comments, “It is fantastic that Ubuntu has reached the level where relevant certified training has become available for Linux professionals. Obsidian looks forward to providing this in the South African market and contributing to the growth in use of Ubuntu Linux in professional applications.”

Obsidian will be providing both Ubuntu Professional Courses 1 and 2, which will assist System Administrators to pass the required Linux Professional Institute (LPI) 101 and 102 and Ubuntu 199 exams in order to achieve the Ubuntu Certified Professional certification. These courses are two of a series of classroom and e-learning courses available for Ubuntu Linux professionals.

An increasing number of corporations worldwide are turning to Ubuntu, the world’s fastest growing Linux distribution, as a solution for their server and desktop requirements. The training ensures that professionals acquire the tools which will enable them to administer those deployments.

“South Africa has made great strides with open source and Linux since its inception and we are delighted by the growth in demand for Ubuntu-based solutions and professionals” says Chris Kenyon, Business Development Director at Canonical. “The Obsidian Grouphas pioneered Linux education and consultancy services in South Africa and is the first to partner with Canonical on Ubuntu certified training in the region. We are confident that they will provide excellent service to a great number of companies and professionals across South Africa.”
