After reading a book that’s all about stepping up and taking charge (“Lean In” by

After reading a book that’s all about stepping up and taking charge (“Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg), it was a nice change of pace to read one about the shy and the quiet (“Quiet” by Susan Cain). I was surprised though, by how much these two books complement each other.

As the title aptly illustrates, “Quiet” is a book about the power of introverts in a world of talkative extroverts.

So how can shy be courageous or quiet be formidable you might ask, but there lies the strength of the introvert – it’s their ability to listen and focus, their calm collected manner and the way they assert themselves in a gentle but firm way.

Did you know that studies show 1 out of 3 people in the world are introverts by nature? Which means even if you are an extrovert, you are probably married to or have a child that’s an introvert. They may eventually get adept at pretending to be social and talkative, but true introverts would rather curl up at home with a book than be partying late into the night at a club.

In today’s fiercely competitive world though, where split second decisions are made based on first impressions, being shy or quiet would not even get one noticed leave alone make an impression. Does it mean then that introverts have to create / cultivate a personality that “tells or sells a story”? asks Ms. Cain.

Take politics or the business world for example, a trait that’s a must have to be a leader is charisma i.e. personality. Bill Clinton is a classic example of this. You can hear him talk for 15 min and be fascinated, enraptured even but I would be hard pressed to come up with what specifically it was that he talked about. Or Tony Robbins for example, who’s made his whole career as a life coach, motivating people to “unleash the power within”. These people are compelling orators and natural extroverts.

Key to make an impression is having a magnetic quality to one’s personality. Unfortunately, this is something that does not come naturally to introverts. In fact even the most mundane social situations like a party at a friend’s house can stress out most of them, until they find that one person to chat with in the corner about a subject of mutual interest. Introverts thrive on solitude, getting their best work done cranking their brains to maximum efficiency. As much as they enjoy time to themselves they equally relish time spent with a close circle of friends and loved ones. A tell-tale trait is a dislike for small talk and most are terrified of speaking in public. This kind of inhibition leads to introverts almost never being recognized for their full potential.

Is it any wonder then that we spend millions of dollars on self-help books, personality development seminars and public speaking lessons.

But “Quiet” surely makes a compelling case for why we shouldn’t try too hard to be who we are not. Specifically for introverts, trying too hard to fit in can not only wear us out but make us very unhappy. There is immense benefit in introverts being comfortable with being who they are, but also try to desensitize themselves to the fear of speaking up. Ms. Cain calls this being true to your person but managing a persona when in a business or social situation.

Even though cultivating an easy-going manner and getting comfortable with “winging it” is always a work in progress for most introverts, we can nurture and draw strength from our natural skills such as deep thinking, complex problem solving, good listening and laser sharp focus

What would benefit us immensely individually and as a society though, is picking a career or a lifestyle that suits our core personality, this is the secret to a fulfilling life and if anything helps us appreciate each other for who we are, be it introverts or extroverts.

The world needs its Steve Wozniaks as much as it needs its Steve Jobs.

It’s Wednesday morning, I’m back at home after dropping my son off at school and I’m looking for Tony Robbins. His material has always been within reach since I can remember, at least as far back at 18 years old. Tony is great and I love listening as much as reading his stuff. I feel like I need to start the day off some unlimited power, I just cannot locate where I put it.

A few months back I must have given up on it thinking that I would just live this normal mediocre life and put the book in storage. Well good thing that feeling didn’t last too long. That has to be a horrible situation, to feel like there is no hope and that you are trapped. I’ve been there so many times and I’m only a 30′s something. For the most part I’ve thought it was just me but I can’t help thinking that there are many people out there that feel the same way.

Up until recently, my results seemed to be a bit more in my control. Or so I thought. I had been self-employed for the most part my entire working career. Ya there was a good chunk of money coming in but I was completely horrible at money management. Add to that the divorce in my mid-twenties with two young children and things quickly spiraled out of control. Financially things got so bad for me that for the longest time I just completely ignored it, like it wasn’t really happening. I know now, that was the worst thing I could have done. At any rate, this post seems like it could go on forever if I don’t cut it short where did I put that book?

I know a young woman who was arrested and jailed for a while for drug problems. This very smart you

I know a young woman who was arrested and jailed for a while for drug problems. This very smart young woman decided that her life was taking a very wrong and dangerous path and she was determined to change direction.

After getting out of jail, she began getting counseling to overcome her addition to drugs. She sought a job and is very good at what she does.

She has found a nice young man in whom she is interested. Her life is looking way more happy and productive.

I knew a man who was an alcoholic who ended up bedridden with a back injury. While he was laid up and couldn’t move, his wife would only give him scriptures to read. After reading the scriptures, he was determined to better his life and never drank again.

I have a relative who became involved with some very bad people when he was a teenager. He ended up getting arrested for attempting to bomb a National Guard Armory and spent several years in jail.

It gave him lots of time to think and make a determination to change his life direction. After he got out of jail he married a nice girl and they raised a great family together. He used his experience to connect with youth and to counsel with them. He’s made a difference in a lot of lives.

Was it easy for these people to change? No. But there came a wakeup call for each of them that forced them to look at where they were headed.

While many of us may not have such dramatic things in our lives we still can come to times in our lives when a change of direction is needed.

There is the old adage, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

If these people had kept on the same path, they might have shortened their lives substantially. They might also have deprived the world of their wisdom and example in changing their lives.

I’ve been thinking about the them of persistence and “Don’t Give Up” and at the same time, thinking about the terrible events that took place at the Boston Marathon.

So, with that in mind, I wanted to share a scripture verse about running the race:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2, ESV)

Plus, I wanted to share a video from the 1992 Olympics [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QwNoZMOt_c ] that was about a runner (Derek Redmond) that suffered an injury in the greatest race of his life and decided that, even though he had no change at winning, he had put too much effort into this to just quit. So, he kept going. It was a struggle and the security officials were trying to convince him to quit. Then, out of the stands, a man came running onto the track and towards this runner. Security initially tried to stop the man that turned out to be the runner’s dad. When he reached his son, he put his arm around him and helped him to finish the race. However, just before the finish line, he stepped back and let his son finish on his own.

Well, sometimes we might be frustrated and ready to quit but that’s when our heavenly father puts His loving arms around us and helps us to carry on. And sometimes our youth and our volunteers need for us to be there to help encourage them to continue the race.

Switching from sports to the world of entertainment, another story of persistence and not giving up was Sylvester Stallone who kept trying until he finally found success in the movie Rocky which he wrote and starred in. Hear Tony Robbins telling the Sylvester Stallone story @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tknowAM50Y

Oprah tells the story of how Journey (best known for the song “Don’tStop Believin”) found their new lead singer Arnel Pineda who had previously been singing for his supper. The first part is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vORqmUeGTCg (plus there’s more at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dgE90yAuCU and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oTnjk5ZOEY if you’re really into Journey)

Finally, as my friend Vince reminded me, James Dyson famously created 5,126 prototypes for a vacuum cleaner whilst drowning in a sea of debt. But his 5,127th design was the breakthrough he needed and with it came the start of the Dyson company. The Dyson company today earns over 1 billion in sales annually.

Remember….never never never give up. Success could be one try away.

P.S. The video about the runner from the 1992 Olympics was shared in a sales meeting Monday at The Kansas City Star (by my friend Vince Coultis) and was also the focus of my opening devotion at the youTheology Advisory Board meeting that same evening. Plus, a version of this blog is being shared at http://www.youtheology.org/

And, finally, I can’t have “Don’t Give Up” in the title without linking to the great song by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1nVscwU0pE

I was exhausted.

I had worked non stop talking to clients all day and still had an article to write AND a networking event that night to go to. I was also nursing a cold.

At that moment I understood that I was standing at the precipice of a decision. An even bigger ‘AHA’ came to me as I followed that train of thought.

We’re the results of our series of decisions throughout our lives but especially in our businesses.

You Are What You Choose

So did I push myself to pour myself into a dress and heels and hit the event that night even though I felt like death warmed over? I decided it’s too easy to stay stuck in the house, behind the phone and behind my computer. I decided I actually get clients out of meeting new people.(and so do you!)

How Are Your Choices Adding Up?

My hero Dr.Wayne Dyer has a barometer by which I measure all things. He says if you look at the state of your life right now, it’s a mirror for what’s going on inside you.

So if you’re sick and in despair or can’t get any clients, what’s happening inside you? Remember, the sequence of events in your little body are: thought, feeling, action. Not the other way around.

Lump It Or Like It

If you don’t like the results of the decisions you’ve been making lately, how do you change? Do you accept that that’s the way the cookie crumbles or make a DECISION to change?

Proof Is In The Pudding

Another hero of mine, Anthony Robbins says that the only indication of a decision is an action step that you take. Otherwise (and I vehemently agree with him) you’re just talking to yourself and fooling yourself. When you consistently make the decisions to be successful, you will BE successful.

The problem with communication, is the illusion that it has been accomplished ~George Bernard Shaw

The problem with communication, is the illusion that it has been accomplished

~George Bernard Shaw

“Communication skill” is now an important buzzword. Your resume is incomplete without it. Improving it is the most common feedback employees receive during appraisals. Almost all professional colleges have courses for it. The problem is that, they are treated as most of the things in this world, in terms of measurable output. You may have the capability to deliver flawless presentations; you may improve your language skills to become a better writer; you may work on your non-verbal skills to become a better speaker; you may even get top grades in “communication skill” courses. But, none of that implies that you are an effective communicator. All these skills are part of being able to communicate well, but, the essence of communication is understanding.

Most of the books, courses and seminars focus on the output aspect – public speaking, creative or technical writing, slide design and lay-outing etc. A few even deal with the input aspect – listening. I have been noticing an increasing awareness about listening skills. But, the human element of understanding and empathy in communication is hardly explored. Stephen Covey’s ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’ covers it quite well.

I believe that effective communication is a cyclic process. There are four basic steps involved in it. The list is not in order of priority.

Perceive -
You must have active focus on the person/people you are communicating with. Take input from all of your senses. Listen to the spoken word, observe the emotions and reactions, use your sense of smell/taste/touch to discern discomfort in the environment (for e.g., high level of humidity in the room) and, try to exercise your sixth sense (if you believe in such a thing) to get a feel for the mood and surroundings. This act can also be passive, like finding out the interests and expectation of your audience before you address them, researching the person or company you are going to have a meeting with. Store these inputs, just like you download files into your hard disk storage. No processing, just download.

Empathize -
Set aside your ego, opinion and assumptions. Try to see the situation from the other’s point of view. Acknowledge that there can be opinions other than your own. Even if you disagree with them, they are still valid opinions. Now, use the stored inputs from Step 1 to process the information. Try to understand the reason behind the response. This will require an open mind, selfless nature and strength of character on your part. It is very easy to see the world with your coloured glasses. The hard part is taking it off and seeing that others have their own coloured glasses.

Speak to be understood -
Tell the the other person that, you see the world in the colour they do. Present your understanding of their point of view. A hollow “Yes, I see” will not cut it; nor will simple repetition of their words. Explain each step that helped you to understand their point of view. You did the hard work in Step 2, so show it to them. Go back to Step 1 and repeat till you understand and align yourself to their point of view. Now, you say what you have to. Speak, but, with their point of view as reference.

Cooperate -
After all that hard work, when the person in the communication process with you sees, that you have made an effort to understand them, they will be more open to your point of view. They might or might not agree with it, but they will accept it as valid, just as you did with them. This is the objective of effective communication. To have both sides open up to the idea that there are no right or wrong opinions, just different points of view. Now, you can work together for mutual benefit.

Back in school, I used to consider myself an excellent communicator. At an important debate competition, I decided to step it up a notch by asking a question, using some of the most impressive words from my vocabulary. It was the first time I had ever framed a question by writing it down. I didn’t win, and was indignant. I thought I deserved that prize. Later, when I asked the judge he said that, my question was good, but he had seen me write it down. I was inflamed. Everyone else wrote down their question, all the time! The first time I did so, I lost a sure shot prize! It antagonized me for a very long time. Now, I realize that, I lost because I didn’t communicate effectively. I focused on framing the question so much that, I didn’t listen to or try to understand the rest of the debate. The emphasis on using impressive words made the question devoid of meaning – my focus was not on being understood. If I had applied these four steps, I might have won. More importantly, the purpose of the debate would have been accomplished.

The process can be applied, for instance, when you want to take a day off. Try to approach your boss when he is in a relatively good mood. Listen to his reasons for refusal and try to understand why he is reacting in this way. Don’t tell your boss about the significance of your friends’s marriage Tell him about the extra effort you have put in to complete the current assignment and the overtime you will do after you come back. Then, he may open to hear more about your reason. Most of the times, you will get the approval for the leave.

The point is, you can put these four steps into practice every time you have an interaction. It doesn’t matter whether it is just bar talk with a stranger or a conflict at home. If your intention is grounded in the principle of authenticity, this method of communication will work. You will find solutions you didn’t believe existed. Your connection with your friends and loved ones will improve. The quality of your interaction with other people has a direct effect on happiness. Approach human interactions with the mindset of effective communication. More fulfilling the social aspect of your being is, happier you will be. To conclude, as Tony Robbins said, “To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.”

That Green Dragon

A co-worker told me today that someone had unloaded on her and told her that her successes were just an attempt to try to get attention and that she was using them to look better than other people.

Needless to say, she was shocked and surprised by the venomous and unprovoked criticism. She hadn’t even spoken to this person for a long time.

My co-worker is hard working and has received recognition for her accomplishments.

How sad that a person would look at the accomplishments of another person and feel it was somehow a statement of how her own life was a failure.

That person is doomed to be unsuccessful and unhappy with that kind of attitude permeating her mind.

How you feel about other’s accomplishments says a lot about how you feel about yourself.

I like this quote:

“Jealousy is simply and clearly the fear that you do not have value. Jealousy scans for evidence to prove the point – that others will be preferred and rewarded more than you. There is only one alternative – self-value. If you cannot love yourself, you will not believe that you are loved. You will always think it’s a mistake or luck. Take your eyes off others and turn the scanner within. Find the seeds of your jealousy, clear the old voices and experiences. Put all the energy into building your personal and emotional security. Then you will be the one others envy, and you can remember the pain and reach out to them.” ~Jennifer James

How true this is.

Jealousy is a green dragon that devours and destroys you from within.

There will always be a few who will be jealous of your success.

Ananda Marga, Sanskrit for Path to Bliss

Ananda Marga

Finding the path of bliss. Wow, it sounds wonderful, but it’s easier said then done. Is it spiritual or psychological? Is it god or science? The search for my path began when I was finding dissatisfaction in almost all areas of my life. Over a decade ago, I started reading all the new age books with some awakening moments. Then one day I headed for a yoga class. That did it. I finally found something that resonated true. Mind, body and spirit all getting a tune up within an hour and a half class. Fortunately for me, I found an instructor that is an enlightened spirit. That was over two years ago. Now I am getting glimpses of the path to bliss and want more.
In addition to yoga several days a week, I have added meditation. Meditation is the most wonderful practice of all, but it is also the most challenging process I have ever encounter. The goal of meditation, described by Deepak Chopra, ” is to free your awareness from it’s identification with your senses and thoughts. So freed, your awareness permeates everything but clings to nothing. ” The constant conversation in my head isn’t slowing down, although I have become the observer of my thoughts and realize that is what they are, nothing more than thoughts. I prefer guided mediations with Sanskrit mantras. Deepak Chopra has some wonderful guided meditations. He describes a mantra as a mind vehicle. “A mantra provides a boat where you can float through your thoughts unattached. It is a boat that steers its way to god.”
The older and wiser I get, the more I understand that this spirit of mine is having a human experience. That our spirits belong to the divine intelligence that we are all apart of. It is so comforting to believe we are really all one mind, or part of the divine consciousness, that is god. Sometimes I feel so happy knowing my human experience is allowing spirit to enjoy his creations. People, including myself, take our human experience for granted. When we are young we think that we are never going to die. I think we feel that way because god is eternal. We are the breathe of god. God sees the trees and flowers through our eyes. He smells the beautiful scents he created through our noses. She hears the variety of sounds through our ears. He tastes the wonderful variety of flavors through our taste buds. Our human bodies are the vehicles that God, the devine intelligence, uses to play with life. How can we take our existence for granted?
Gratitude is a key ingredient to finding bliss. You cannot be grateful and unhappy at the same time. That is why many spiritual leaders recommend keeping a gratitude journal. It is suggested that at the end of each day, write every thing you are grateful for. The simple reason this works is throughout the day you are looking for things to be grateful for. And like I said before, you can not be unhappy and grateful at the same time. Just try it. A simple journal can begin to change your life. Be grateful for anything and everything, but be specific. Like the red breasted robins in your back yard or the beautiful sunset. I love the quote by Tony Robbins,”Trade your expectations for appreciation and the world changes instantly.”

The Very best ten results Tips From Anthony Robbins In excess of 25 years US-based motivational spea

The Very best ten results Tips From Anthony Robbins

In excess of 25 years US-based motivational speaker and achievements mentor Anthony Robbins has been enthusiastically seeking the responses to questions for instance ‘What layouts human behaviour? And just how can we generate enduring change

within oursleves as well as others?’.

He has talked in the front of even more than 3 million people around the world together with marketed around 35 million training books and audio educating products.

After being present at his 4-day ‘Unleash The Power Within’ workshop just lately in Kuala Lumpur I found out quite a few methods to perform at the best.

I even joined in his famous barefoot take a walk over hot coals. This powerful physical metaphor demonstrates exactly how anyone can eliminate their most deep and greatest fears with concentration, excitement and determination.

Part rock concert, part studying experience, part aerobic workout, the conference was attended by in excess of 4,000 individuals in a giant inside sporting stadium which was built for the Commonwealth Games.

Standing 6’7″, weighing 265 lbs and with a shoe size of sixteen, Robbins was extraordinary on stage as he utilized the energy of the crowd.

In actual fact, security guards need to line the stage as he is actually on a regular basis bombarded by over enthusiastic followers.

At 43 years old, he has become extremely prosperous and worked with people like President Clinton and Nelson Mandela.

What was it like?

Hot, muggy, high energy and simple take home messages packaged with a advanced lighting, audio and video show.

I realised I was impressed, inspired and got some fantastic ideas from it.

The following is my gift to you. The Top ten Secrets and techniques of Becoming successful I learned from investing 4 days with Tony Robbins.

1. Your current POTENTIAL IS Decided (Or even Restricted) BY YOUR SELF-BELIEF.

As the advertising material says the function was ‘about producing breakthroughs, shifting beyond fears and limiting beliefs, attaining goals and realizing genuine needs, changing dreams into reality, creating satisfying relationships, and modeling the strategies of optimum performers to generate a quantum positive change in your life.’

Should you eliminate the propaganda, the plain message is in the event you believe in yourself enough you could attain everything.

An impressive one-liner was “the only factor that’s retaining you from getting what you would like is the story you keep on telling yourself”.

2. MOST PEOPLE Include SELF-DOUBT AROUND Common THEMES.

Question everybody and most people confess they lack assurance in a few areas of their life. The exciting thing I learnt from this workshop is the fact that this self-doubt is around universal themes. These themes go across age, gender, spiritual, social and language barriers.

Common uncertainties can include ‘I am not good enough’, ‘I am lazy’ and ‘No-one really loves me’.

3. You Could Find out Systems TO ELIMINATE SELF-DOUBT.

Robbins calls it ‘immersion’ the place where you separate old models and build brand new ones by repetition. He takes advantage of a lot of Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques to accomplish this with his audiences.

He says “progress is not automatic”.

A memorable situation in the seminar was while we had to imagine ourselves inside a bubble and inside that bubble was a string of videotapes neatly arranged in a time-line that symbolized all our memory in our lives to date. We were required to remove the harmful videotapes and eradicate these. That was followed by time spent visualising the future and how your life will look 10 and 20 yrs from today.

4. Confidence Impacts Numerous Ranges.

The Robbins important message was that 3 or more items condition our self confidence. He calls these the Triad. These are generally our habits of physiology, focus and language or meaning.

He highlighted this with the quote: “where concentration will go energy flows”.

5. OUR VALUES AND BELIEFS Structure OUR Behavior.

Robbins thinks it is possible to “vanquish whatever is keeping you back from taking action”.

Taking walks barefoot across a bed of glowing coals is the physical metaphor he uses in his seminars to prove this point to the skeptics.

Wipe out damaging self-belief and take massive action are his secrets to success.

6. TO Build Optimistic OUTCOMES You Need To TAKE Enormous ACTION.

“Where concentration runs energy flows” is a quote used by Robbins in his discussion to spotlight the reasons you need to find out your end result and the reason why accomplishing this really is a must.

But many folks are not able to take the next step. They delay, put off and find numerous factors or excuses never to act.

Robbins feels “progress is not automatic” and “action is power”. Make a change, even though it will be the wrong motion. He claims it really is “never a failure should you learn something”.

7. MATCHING & MIRRORING Generates CONNECTION, TRUST & EMPATHY.

Robbins put in a fair amount of time in the workshop talking about and indicating interpersonal communication skills.

He utilized folks from the audience to show precisely how the process of “matching and mirroring” the non-verbal connection and body language of other folks might be an incredibly impressive way to interact with individuals.

Essentially, you create rapport by using the behavioral patterns of the person you are communicating with.

He feels “rapport is power” and “total responsiveness is created by a feeling of commonality”.

For people with discovered these kinds of methods before and haven’t used them for quite a while, I might suggest it is time to dust all of them off and put them into action the next time you are communicating with anyone on a one-to-one basis.

8. ANYTHING May Be Possible In The Event You FOCUS ON PASSION AND PURPOSE.

Robbins believes that “to have a remarkable quality of life you require a couple capabilities: the science of achievement (the capability to take whatever you envision and make it real) and the art of fulfilment (this allows you to delight in every moment of it).”

He claims “success without fulfilment is failure”.

Find your passion and objective in your life. My objective would be to really make a difference in people’s lives and use my gift as a motivational speaker.

9. Design YOURSELF ON OTHER ACHIEVERS.

To obtain changes immediately and improve to a whole new level of success, Robbins thinks gaining knowledge from others who definitely are the best in their field is the most effective way to be successful.

He told the story of how he wished to increase his tennis game and so employed Andre Agassi, the then top rated player to assist him achieve this.

Who could you model yourself on?

“People’s lives are an immediate reflection of the expectations of their peer group,” according to Robbins.

10. SUCCESS IS BUILT ON A More Healthy, HIGH ENERGY BODY, HEART AND MIND

If you are not healthy – all the above tips are irrelevant.

Your good health is established and influenced by your way of life.

One major modification I’ve made since the seminar is to take in a healthier diet and exercise more regularly.

“Focus Grasshopper!” These famous words from the movie Karate Kid are a real mouthful.

For the last several months, I’ve found myself riding about on the wind following whims. I know where I want to go but I have kept changing my mind on how to get there.

I joined MLSP and Numis with the intent of starting my own home-based online business so I could be more independent and not have to rely on anyone but myself for my success.

Well, I got sidetracked. I started getting email offers from other training programs.

My Dad broke his back and I had to scramble to get him into and assisted living home far away as well as to deal with the legal issues involved. I had to get his house up for sale and on and on.

So I felt lost and frustrated and started the whole wind riding thing again.

Well, I finally woke up.

I’ve stopped looking for other programs and have started working on the ones I began with and guess what?

I’m starting to have success.

It’s all about focus and making a commitment to work every day on the same things. It’s so easy to get off on a tangent for someone like me.

I have some good training that I’m reviewing and this time I’m actually using it, one thing at a time.

My support group is great and I’m learning to use them too.

I’ve also enlisted my family and they have begun to support me and believe in me.

It’s like magic.

Once I narrowed my focus, everything began falling in place.

I know I can make my dream come true.

I hereby publish my goals so I can’t go back on them:

Finish our house under construction for the last 4 years by Christmas this year.

Pay off all my debts.

Help my adult children with some of their financial difficulties.

Help as many people as I can to begin to live free of financial worries.

Give a substantial amount to charities and non-profits that I support.

Go to Wales and purchase a Welsh Triple-strung harp.

That’s a good start.

I will add some to this as I go.

Me, I’m unstoppable!

Whenever I find myself losing focus or motivation, I find it always helps to pick up a book or listen to an audio by someone who personally inspires me. For me like many people Tony Robbins is definitely one of those people. His advice is second to none when it comes to getting motivated and taking action. If you have never read or listened to anything by this guy then I would highly reccommend it. No matter what state your currently in, reading or listening to his stuff is guaranteed to bring you in to a higher state.

This week I unfortunately found myself losing a bit of focus and drive. So Mr Tony Robbins came to my rescue:) I chose to listen to his audio version of Awaken the Giant Within and sure enough it was the right one to give me that necessary boost. I like I always do took notes while listening and thought I would share these with you in this blog post. I hope you find it helpful if you are also in need for a boost and please also share with any one who may be in need also of his amazing wisdom. I am off to his UPW event in London in just under 4 weeks and absolutely cant wait because I know it will be life changing. No promotion is intended here just the sharing of his motivation and inspiration;) I hope you enjoy and gain something from it also, I have added a video link of an excerpt of the audio at the end.

Enjoy making decisions and changing your life today:)

It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped ~ Tony Robbins

Controlled focus is like a laser beam that will pierce through anything when you use its power (have a big enough desire).

Empower yourself and others- by what action can I take towards this dream- what can I contribute

What precedes action is decision – always just decide- then do it ( saying I can and I will, starts change for any single area of life and once made sets a trail for many other causes and effects)

Feel the fear / doubt / discomfort and do it anyway

Decide on results you are committed to and standards you set for yourself- set them high and no matter what, stick by them.

Proclaim this is who I am and I will not be denied and nothing will stop me from attaining my dream.

True decision means no other option this is it so clear so firm – no doubt allowed:).

Take control of;

1.) What to focus on

2.) What things mean to you

3.) What should you do now

‘ Problems and doubts are caused by lack of decision in these areas which then allow us to be influenced by the environment instead.’

Decision steps 1

Be clear

Take action

What’s working / not working

Change what’s not working

‘The dream and focus (reason) need to be bigger and stronger than any obstacle’

Decision steps 2

Harness the power of decision – The hardest step is committing

Make decisions often.

Learn from decisions (if they are not working, change them)

Stay committed to the results of the person you want to be, but be flexible in your approach

Enjoy making decisions – they are causes for life change!

Make some decisions now that can start positive changes in your life today.

‘Take action on your decisions today!’
