A host of celebrities gathered in Manhattan today (October 30) to rally support for Love ‘N Haiti, a recycling project in Port-au-Prince that turns everyday trash into energy.

Rapper Tony Yayo, Melky Jean (Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter and Wyclef Jean’s sister), actor Jamie Hector (“The Wire”), actress Daphnee Duplaix (“One Life to Live”) and Mona Scott-Young (Monami Entertainment) encouraged New Yorkers to vote online for the eco-friendly program to win an international grant sponsored by the BBC World News.

“Love ‘N Haiti has benefits that reach far beyond the shores of my native country,” Melky Jean told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “It’s an innovative way to help clean up our planet while addressing the issues of poverty, unemployment and crime. This is a movement that everyone – Haitian or not – needs to get behind.”

The Love ‘N Haiti initiative aims to gather support to win a global competition for a grant to continue the recycling project in Port-Au-Prince, which aid in decreasing deforestation, creating jobs and reducing incidence of floods.

Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons, Garcelle Beauvais, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and Wyclef Jean are also among the supporters of the project, one of 12 finalists in the competition.

“I’m proud to be a part of this campaign, not only because it’s for my people, but because I care about our environment,” added Wyclef. “All it takes is one vote to make a difference. We need everyone to support Love ‘N Haiti.

First of all, I have managed to complete another absolutely non-productive weekend!  I’m on a freakin roll!  I always start off with wild expectations about gettin sh*t done, but I’ve yet to follow thru on anything I’ve planned on doing in 2009.  Pretty amazing if I don’t say so myself.  However, even though I didn’t do what I was supposed to do, I did some sh*t that I really didn’t want to do, but did it anyways.

Finally watched the movie Notorious.  Granted I’m almost a year late in seeing it, but this is ahead of schedule for me when it comes to movie watching.  If you want to frustrate yourself, drop a joke that references a movie and watch it fly over my head with the quickness.  I have zero attention span, so for me to sit down and watch a movie is like a major event.

I thought the movie was pretty good.  However, as a point of reference, my favorite movie is Belly, so that should give you an idea of the depth of my filmographic (is that a word?) knowledge.  Gravy did a good job as Frank White.  Derek Luke had me dyin the whole movie!  Dude was dancin just like Puff in every scene!!  They definitely kinda played Lil Kim and 2Pac in the movie.  Had Kim lookin like she was just B.I.G.’s jumpoff and Pac was wildin like he was schizo in every scene.  Overall, I though it was a good flick.

Did a little job hunting today.  All I accomplished by doing this was confusing myself even more about which direction I want to take my career.  Have no clue.  Moving along….

Went to the gym today too.  I’ve decided that all I’m going to do it workout my chest and let my mini-belly do its own thing.  Word.  Unfortunately, my I-Pod broke while at the gym and I was forced to listen to the absolutely awful music they play in there.  I swore I heard a techno version of Master P’s “Make’em Say Ugh” featuring Madonna, Justin Timberlake, and Tony Yayo.  Who in their right mind would even produce this track??  Oh, by the way fellas, under no circumstance should you and your girl wear matching wife beaters to the gym or should you sing along with any Usher song in public, especially at the gym!  That’s a No No!

Yeah…that’s about it.  Now it’s about 11:30 pm and the weekend is essentially over.  Might as well go to bed.  I’m gonna go eat a Hot Pocket first thou.  Maybe I’ll eat both of them.  We’ll see.  I’ll holla.  one.

G-Unit’s Tony Yayo recently spoke on his admiration for rap crews Slaughterhouse, Dipset and D-Block and has stressed the importance of unity among rappers.

Discussing 50 Cent’s rap-uniting This Is 50 Fest last weekend in New York City, the “Talk of New York” also described his admiration for former rap rivals, The Lox.

Tony Yayo seemed to be enthusiastic about all the crew love that went down on Governor’s Island, where G-Unit, the Diplomats and the LOX all connected. “I know your eyes is buggin’ on, like, what’s going on — Slaughterhouse, the Unit, D-Block out here, Dipset,” the Talk of New York boasted. “My man Young Money Trav — we got Jersey here, L.A., we got a lot of ‘hoods. Detroit. “Talk about that new album, man,” Yayo continued, looking in Joe Budden’s direction. ” ‘Cause I picked up that [Slaughterhouse] album. I told [the rest of the group] you should do that ‘Microphone’ joint [onstage].” (MTV)

Speaking on working with artists outside his camp, the Unit’s Lloyd Banks also discussed a possible Slaughterhouse collaboration from the event.

“V5 will be up pretty soon…Features on the mixtape, I got Tony Yayo of course, I’m trying to get him on another one before we wrap up. Shout-out to Havoc, I got Havoc on there. Shout-out to Cormega, getting ready to get that linked up right now. We got Nipsey Hussle on board, once again, shout-out to Nipsey Hussle, the whole West Coast. Budden said he met face-to-face with Banks during 50’s This Is 50 Fest at Governor’s Island, New York.

Slaughterhouse has gained the respect of various artists as of late including The Alchemist and Saigon.

“Shout-out to Slaughterhouse,” Saigon said in an interview last month. “People going around saying I’ve been talking dirty about Slaughterhouse, nah, I got much love and respect for everybody in that, aside from Joe Budden, everybody else, even Joe Budden, I ain’t really got no issues with that man.
