I look back on my career and think about all the changes that have taken place. So this is the plus

I look back on my career and think about all the changes that have taken place. So this is the plus side. The negative side is having to follow so many more regulations. Most are a result of a “bad apple”. That is, it will be someone that has too much greed, wants an easy way to make money, or just not work hard. These folks are few and far between, but they eventually ruin it for the rest of us. Hence the comparison to a “rotten apple” in a barrel of “good apples”…….they are few, but will cause society to change laws, or as in a company, change policies. The latter is basically designed to take away individuality. Make us conform more to a “standard” that Corporate wants us to be. This is a noble thought, but many times are written by folks who work from “Ivory Towers” and do not do the day to day work in the “field”. The problem is that they don’t want to listen to the “field staff”, because “A”rotten apple has made them think that most of us are the same as the “rotten apple”. Pity. We all could do better.

There is also a “Corporate mentality”. Mostly based on greed, egotism, selfishness. Hopefully, in a company, they are small in numbers (and stature). But they seem to flourish,……at least for a while. Their greed and egotism will eventually get them “found out for what they really are….” and that will do them in, not any of the rest of us. But in the meantime, these folks just cause havoc for everyone. Interestingly, I’ve only had ONE Boss say to me, that “he was there for me, “….not the other way around. We should all be so lucky to meet someone like this. It makes work fun, but serious, and progress is shared by all………not by the egotist that wants to be made to “look good” by other folks.

As for laws, they’ve become more involved and convoluted. Again, because a “rotten apple” spoils things for the rest of the barrel. I don’t have thoughts for this type of problem. These issues may be due to more than one “rotten apple”, thought to be a loop hole for the wicked. So the rest of us must pay……accommodate, live harder…….

The world will never be a perfect place, I just hope that there will be some “rising stars” that will be able to look past these issues and see a better way. Making laws or policies more stringent, in many ways, set the rest of us up for failure. We all can do better than that.
