The guy who's succeeded in making me wanna pay full price for DVD's, the one, the only, JJ Abrams.

GAWD picking these were HARD. Bloody awful. Even only counting live action tv series, so discounting Futurama n stuff from the mix, didn’t help much. From a list I got down to 12. Picking  just 5 was evil… EVIL. I should do one for american, one for british stuff really. This list isn’t though, its a mix of all. In no order. Can’t pick a favourite, love em all for different reasons. (I had to leave out Friends!! And Grey’s Anatomy! And Scrubs! And so many awesome shows….

This list says… well I’m not sure… its a random mix of… well… scifi, slice of life/fantasy, backwards rom com, mystery/scifi/fantasy/mind-fuck and mancandy-fanservice/horror lol. You can read what you like from it. Its far to eccletic to make any sense out of lol. The full list might be easier to understand. All I know is that I love them. Again, for different reasons. Dr Who is like… a combo of childhood nostalgia combined with my favourite actor being in it for 3/4 years lol. Early Edition, nostalgia again, was a tv show I always remembered, always recalled, but didn’t remember the name and retain that information till early this year I believe. HIMYM is fluffy and lovely and cheeky and funny and LEGENDARY. Lost is just… well its Lost. Like marmite, you love it or you hate it, I’m of the former state of mind. Totally in love with the series, so much so I can barely see past its faults lol. And Supernatural. Only in the last year have I become a fan of this show, and boy do you become a fan. Total fangirl for it. TOTAL fangirl. Someone was right when saying some shows have viewers, some have fans, supernatural has the latter.

All five members of Big Bang will have their own channel on YGTV. Upcoming episodes of YGTV will feature each member of the group working on their solo activities.

GD TV will show leader G-Dragon promoting his solo album Heartbreaker, while Taeyang TV will give fans a look at Taeyang working on his second solo album. TOP is also working on a solo album, which will be shown on TOP TV, and Seungri TV will show maknae Seungri’s experiences working on the Shouting musical. Lastly, fans can watch Daesung TV to follow Daesung’s recovery process after his terrible car accident.

Esta semana recordei de um antigo programa de tv. Seu nome era Top TV e era exibido pela Tv Record, no ano de 1994 (se não me engano).

O que era interessante no Top TV era que o programa tinha como objetivo, apresentar os lançamentos de quadrinhos, seriados, filmes e os grandes classicos da epoca e do passado.

Uma de suas maiores curiosidades era sua abertura, um pequeno video que apresentava aberturas de series e desenhos, embalados ao som de Robert Palmer e seu “Addicted To Love”.

Como ainda não encontrei um video com a abertura do Top TV, segue o clipe original e bastante copiado de “Addicted To Love”.

Naomi Watts – 21 Grams reading out the Doctor who told her to relax after he informs her of the deaths in her family. Her acting is so powerful the camera man becomes so terrified he has trouble holding the camera on Naomi. It’s my favorite moment but I couldn’t find a clip.

A young Alec Baldwin gives a salesman motivational speech which we all should listen to until we understand the message about our lives.

Baldwin helps a therapist and plays many extremely varied roles in succession in a very short time.

Jack Nicholson – Most anything, for example even a phony prank phone call.

Olivia Wilde – House – Last Resort Season 5, Episode 8,

“I don’t want to die!” This is very short scene by an almost unknown actor but for those of us who experienced Dr. Paul Ekman’s book Emotions Revealed, which is based on careful research on human emotions, this was a very painful scene for the actor and for an emotionally sensitive viewer. Wilde has done a fair amount of acting and this is the only scene I remember her in, but I thought it was very compelling.

Stephen Colbert – The Colbert Report

satirical comedic monologues and crazy interviews with important people are always lively and way over the top of raspiness. Colbert often has a word for the day and some of his neologisms become household words such as “truthiness”. This Bush roast wasn’t his best work but it is available and that’s worth something.

Robert Knepper – Prison Break – T-Bag (Theodore Bagwell)

a charming psychopath who can “work” his way out of serious problems, like in Otis Season 2-2 getting his amputated hand reattached by a veterinarian because the cops are watching the hospitals, (his real father was a veterinarian) and The Legend Season 4-10, in which he comes into a top level conference and is accused of just about everything but comes out showing the qualities of a top salesman. He is so believable in these roles. T-Bag is the most believable of the TV psychopaths because his motivations are so animal and clear.

Brian Cranston – Breaking Bad –

There are many great movies and TV shows but what I was looking for was a minute or two of recent knock your socks off performance. There has to be lots of things out there which I either haven’t seen, don’t remember or couldn’t find in just an evening’s blogging. So… few days ago i got an email from my friend, an interesting one. Why? Yep, now MNC Skyvision got their reps office in over 40 cities in Indonesia.

Who the heck is MNC Skyvision? well for you who live in indonesia long enough must be familiar with the word Indovision, the first Pay-TV Operator in Indonesia and in my opinion still the market leader and they just achieved the Top Brand award title from the Marketing Magazine in coorporation with Frontier Consulting Group (Indovision.tv,2008)

Anyway-i forgot exactly when- MNC Skyvision also launch a new product called TOP TV. which targeted the middle low market segment with only a cheapo RP. 85k/month for the subscription fee. I believed this is their strategy to conquer the Indonesian market to compete with new competitors.

Welcome to the next installment of my series: 50 Tips on How to Be a Top TV Guest.  (Haven’t received the first three installments? Click here and request your FREE copy today!)

Here’s another 10 tips to help you capitalize on the valuable air-time when you appear as a television guest.

1.    Use “Tips” as part of your segment! If your topic offers helpful advice then tips are a great way to communicate your message.  Television producers want to provide their viewers with useful content presented in a manner that is easy to understand.  Develop five tips that solve a problem your topic addresses.  Are you a fitness guru with a unique formulation for fat loss?  Then offer five fat burning tips!  Does your book offer advice about how to live a happier life?  Then come up with 5 ways to live happier today!

2.    If you’re pitching local TV, find the local angle. Local network affiliates are extremely valuable, so a great method to grab the producer’s interest is to find the local tie-in for your topic.  If you are a real estate guru, before going on air do your homework and find out what the real estate market is like in that city.  Have you written a book about the American economy?  Be prepared to talk about the economic climate in that particular city.  By highlighting a local angle, your interview will resonate more with the host and the viewers.

3.    Monotone doesn’t work. The alteration of your pitch and tone will keep your audience interested.  Stay animated. It’s not only what you say, but how you say it that counts!

4.    Prepare for personal questions. The job of a producer is to do research for the host about you and your topic, in preparation of your interview.  If simple web research unearths two previous bankruptcies and you are promoting a CD series on how to make millions… be prepared!  Often the best comeback is a real and even comical answer.  It will not only endear you to the audience but can deflect the tone of an antagonistic interviewer.

5.    Don’t overload your interview with statistics. Use stats and numbers wisely.  For example, if you have written a book about natural methods of preventing diabetes, the fact that 20.8 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes is important.  But if you also mention that 85,000 diabetics have their feet amputated and 12 million people will go blind from it – these statistics will create more of an emotional impact on the host and viewers.
