2009 neigt sich seinem Ende entgegen – und damit ist auch Schluss mit den Nuller-Jahren und dem ersten Jahrzehnt des 21. Jahrhunderts. Die Jungs von Paste Magazine nehmen es zum Anlass, schon jetzt die besten Gadgets dieses Zeitalters zu küren.
Zugegeben, ich persönlich hätte ganz andere Kandidaten auf der Liste gehabt (aber für meinen Geschmack interessiert sich ja wohlweislich niemand *eg*). Immerhin hat sich das Paste Magazine total auf Hardware konzentriert, denn Websites oder Software qualifizieren sich nicht wirklich als Gadget. Ihr wichtigsten Kriterium: Jeder Kandidat musste das Leben der Fans wirklich vereinfacht oder erfreulicher gemacht haben. Die Gesamtliste nebst ausführlichen Beschreibungen findet sich hier. the first ever DiGi music live concert and it was amazing! i must say, i was extremely lucky to be able to emcee the press conference and also the concert itself. plus, on top of that, i got the chance to interview the guys (again) and shoot the episode for the DiGi music top20. it was an extremely tiring saturday, but i thoroughly enjoyed myself!

This month , My 20 tracks music selection comes from the Dubstep scene not, because dubstep is already too popular in the rave scene crowds nether because you can easily find parties in Berlin and London .. (the location that the most of you (insti2tereaders) live. I decide to make a list of 20 tracks because DUBSTEP is the “new” in the electronic music development ,  promised ,  and finally because the party organizer crowds as well as the attenders  totally know what they are doing , I got the impression that a lot of different good ideas come out of the dubstep scene , not just consumption and nasty pills. Peter Buck, Michael Stipe, Mike Mills e Bill Berry

Iniciando uma nova categoria aqui no Stay Schizo, faço o primeiro post do nosso top musical. Consiste em escolhermos uma banda e fazer uma seleção de suas melhores músicas/as que gostamos mais. Falei no plural mas o correto seria falar no singular, pois cada lista é individual, para expressar a opinião pessoal de cada um

A primeira escolha foi o R.E.M., banda um tanto aclamada em nosso recinto, mas deixo isso para cada um comentar. Algumas bandas talvez não sejam tão versáteis a ter um Top20, sendo melhor talvez um Top10, mas a priori fica assim.

Definitivamente, não foi uma tarefa fácil escolher apenas 20 músicas para comporem essa lista. Foi muito difícil deixar algumas (muitas!) de fora, sendo facilmente merecedoras de estar em um top como esse. Mas bem… no fundo isso não é algo a se reclamar. Nem de longe! Não existem muitas bandas assim, muito menos que estão bem ativas ainda nos dias de hoje (escolher apenas duas músicas do último álbum foi difícil!), e que eu creio ainda criará músicas dignas de estarem em um top como esse. Conheci o R.E.M. há pouco mais de um ano, começando a ouvir a banda que tinha lançado um CD uns tempos atrás e que uns amigos falavam. Algo me disse que eu deveria ouvir mais… e acabei apaixonando. Em quase 30 anos de carreira, os caras praticamente não tem álbuns fracos (ok, alguns podem discordar). Existem poucas bandas assim, e eu acho que chegarei uma hora onde não vou encontrar mais nenhuma dessas bandas que me agradam tanto. Ou será que existem muitas assim aí escondidas ainda? Mistérios, mistérios.

Eu gostaria de pôr as músicas embedadas aqui, porém o WordPress é fresco e não permite Flash; portanto, linkei as músicas no Grooveshark para serem ouvidas.

Segue minha lista. Já foi difícil escolher essas 20 músicas aqui, ordená-las seria uma tarefa quase impossível. Portanto, as apresento em ordem aleatória.

Man On The Moon
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah… Não sei se o Andy tá tirando sarro do Elvis, mas certamente ele ganharia mais ouvindo essa música. Que música, que música.

Drive
Música lenta, sem refrão, quase acústica. Não é o que se espera de uma faixa 1 de um álbum. Porém Drive, onde quer que se encontrasse, seria sempre notada pela sua beleza, a melodia, o ritmo e a repetição que chegam a agoniar, mas sem perder a magnitude. Grande música, de fato.

Cuyahoga
Introdução no baixo de Mike Mills… e daí pra frente só melhora, atingindo o ápice no refrão. Mais uma obra-prima da banda.

Ignoreland
Não tem como ficar neutro em relação a essa música. O timbre da voz do Stipe, a agressividade da música em certas partes, seu título mesmo, fazem você perceber que algo está errado.

Supernatural Superserious
Essa tem um significado um pouco maior para mim, pois foi a partir do álbum Accelerate e dessa música que comecei a conhecer o R.E.M. Supernatural Superserious definitivamente não é uma música comum. Eu consigo ouvi-la todos dias, a qualquer momento, mais de uma vez por dia, até seguidamente. É daquelas músicas que eu ouço e penso, ‘como que o mundo pôde existir até hoje sem isso?’.

At My Most Beautiful
Uma frase do próprio Michael Stipe resume bem para mim o que falar dessa música: “[...] I wrote the line, ‘I found a way to make you smile’, and I just thought, that’s the most beautiful thing in the world.” ["Eu escrevi o verso 'eu encontrei um jeito de fazer você sorrir', e eu pensei, essa é a coisa mais bonita do mundo."]

Losing My Religion
Clássico, clichê, cansou-de-tocar. Podem falar qualquer coisa, mas não tem como deixar a música mais famosa da banda fora dessa lista. Mas não é a mais famosa a toa. Não tem o que falar. Até porque clássicos como este são assim: são algo além do explicável e compreensível. É só ouvir e viajar.

Everybody Hurts
Aiai… :~

Exhuming McCarthy
*tic tic tic tic* Depois do barulho da máquina de escrever, começa mais uma pequena maravilha. Cara, não tem como alguém não gostar disso. Música animada e divertida, com suas brecadas de ritmo para o sinal dos tempos (com uma guitarra bem legal ao fundo), e de volta pra mais animação.

Departure
Ouço isso e parece que foi feito pra eu gostar. Riff alto, refrão grudento e tudo o mais. Por tudo o mais entenda que eu não sei descrever, mas enfim, música deveras divertida e que pra mim deveria ser muito mais tocada nos shows da banda, sem dúvida.

So. Central Rain
Música que me lembra imediatamente do Stipe cabeludo. Certamente não é o maior crédito dessa pequena maravilha. É daquelas músicas que você tem vontade de pôr pra falar em seu lugar. Eu acho que não resistiria se alguém me pedisse desculpas usando seu refrão.

The Wake-Up Bomb
Desde que ouvi pela primeira vez Stipe cantando ‘I look good in a glasspack’, as mudanças de ritmo e ainda gritar com vontade ‘oh, the wake-up bomb’ eu já tinha percebido que encontrara outra música que não cansaria de ouvir. Se eu escolhesse uma música para ver mais nos setlists da banda definitivamente seria essa.

Imitation Of Life
Talvez o maior sucesso e a música com mais status de clássico pós-Losing My Religion. Melodia grudenta, porém simples e bela, e o refrão forte. E partes mais calmas, para fechar os olhos e curtir. Assim como a supracitada, não há muito o que falar. Só ouvir. Destaque também para o clipe.

Disturbance At The Heron House
Acho que essa música se assemelha à Exhuming McCarthy, no que diz respeito ao porquê de eu gostar dela (e mais do que de outras). É simples, legal de se ouvir e cantar.

Pop Song 89
Acho que me identifico com essa música, porque na letra é alguém que não sabe muito bem o que falar, então fica falando do tempo ou do governo. Eu nem isso sei falar, enfim :/. Pop Song 89 (octagésima nona música gravada pela banda, e lançada em 1988) é uma das músicas mais alegres e divertidas do R.E.M. A melodia dela simplesmente dá vontade de sair pulando e remexendo pros lados. Não que seja uma coisa boa de ser imaginar eu fazendo, mas enfim.

It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Se um dia eu conhecer alguém que diz que sabe cantar muito vou mandar o cidadão cantar isso. É um teste de fôlego, quase como colocar a cabeça na água e prender a respiração. Stipe de fato é um cara bom. Como diz o próprio, a letra foi feita de jeito que ele cantasse sempre sorrindo. Música animada e clássica, e pra mim sempre a melhor opção pra fechar os shows em grande estilo (não que Man On The Moon não seja grande estilo, claro, mas particularmente prefiro essa para terminar).

Bad Day
Música “recente”, Bad Day na verdade ela de certa forma existe desde os primórdios da banda mas só veio a ser gravada para a coletânea In Time, de 2003, e é presença constante nos shows da banda desde então. Com razão: dá pra dizer que demoraram pra gravar, pois Bad Day é uma das músicas mais divertidas do R.E.M. Cantarolante, ritmo contagiante e sem falar do clipe muito legal.

The Great Beyond
Música composta para o belo filme O Mundo de Andy (Man On The Moon, 1999), eu não entendo como o R.E.M. fez músicas bonitinhas sobre o Andy Kaufman, porque pelo que vi no filme ele não era um cara lá muito íngreme e de se refletir ouvindo músicas assim, apesar de genial. Mas de qualquer jeito, inspirou o R.E.M. a fazer mais uma pérola.

Leave
Mais long música do R.E.M., com seus mais de sete minutos, Leave é também uma grande música no sentido figurado. É daquelas que não cansam de ouvir. Mesmo com um sintetizador ao fundo quase que durante toda a sua duração. É uma pena que não tenha sido tão aproveitada ao vivo, só sendo tocada em 2005, quase 10 anos após o lançamento de New Adventures in Hi-Fi. Ficou interessante também ao vivo, sem o sintetizador ao fundo, ficando com uma roupagem diferente.

Accelerate
Poucas bandas depois de mais de 20 de carreira lançam um álbum tão bom como o Accelerate; portanto eu não conseguiria incluir apenas uma faixa dele nessa lista. Eu adoro o clima dessa música. Ela é rápida e nervosa, o timbre das guitarras é diferente do que costumo ouvir, o refrão tem palavras não tão comuns e adoro as linhas vocais em geral. Mais uma música para ser ouvida e reouvida.

It’s HOT LIKE HELL in Karachi! Like boiling hot! I don’t remember the mercury rising this much in summers here ever! I mean I could stand in scorching sun for hours just over a year ago, but I think my bones will get roasted even if I tried thinking about doing the stunt this time around. And with the hours and hours of loadshedding, it’s getting out of hands! I have warned everyone in the house that if they hear a scream and a bang, that would be me, running out of the house to the wild, trying to find some cool solace, where I can stay in my pajamas all day long!
