Say what they want to hear by not saying it The task of answering the prompt succinctly and directly

Say what they want to hear by not saying it

The task of answering the prompt succinctly and directly may actually be your worst enemy. Read that sentence over if you have to, but it’s true. If you’re writing your personal statement and a part of the prompt asks you to identify a very specific point (i.e.: why you would be a good intellectual fit at the school, etc.), your essay should never directly restate the prompt or come anywhere close to restating it, for that matter. Say it implicitly.

Your written personal accounts should tell exactly why you’d be an excellent fit or why school X’s admissions director wants you without ever explicitly stating why. If you find yourself unable to write out the perfect life item you think will get you into the program you desire, then you need to come up with another example, or you’ll surely end up with the boring and pitifully grammar school-esque “I would be an excellent fit because…” sentence.

This in mind, you should venture off topic a bit if, in the end, you use your prolixity to make a point. Don’t be intimidated at the prospect of going off topic. After all, by simply writing down your thoughts, you’ll come up with more material than you need (a good problem to have) and you may just find your thoughts wandering enough to an even better exampleto address the prompt (another good problem to have). If the prompt asks you to name a time when you overcame adversity, summing it up in one sentence just won’t hack it. Expand your thoughts, including what you learned from your experience, how it has improved you as a person, why that will carry you through the next level of school or life. Never be afraid to delve into details in an important aspect of your life. If an event had a significant enough impact on you for you to be addressing it in a personal statement, you clearly don’t want to leave the reader with any questions because you felt that preemptively answering those questions would have taken your work down the wrong path. Implicitly from all this, the reader will easily see exactly why you feel you’d be a good fit at their program. They’ll be even more impressed when you’ve answered the question clearly and masterfully, but they have to remind themselves what the prompt was in the first place.

Write on!

How do you maximize your site? By earning some few dollars per click from displaying Adsense ads on

How do you maximize your site?
By earning some few dollars per click from displaying Adsense ads on it. Many are now realizing that good money is made from this source of revenue. Try the simple mathematical computation of multiplying those clicks for every page on your website and you get a summation of earnings equivalent to a monthly residual income with that little effort you have made.

Google Adsense is a fast and easy way for website publishers of all sizes to display relevant and text-based Google ads on their website’s content pages and earn money in the process. The ads displayed are related to what your users are looking for on your site. This is the main reason why you both can monetize and enhance your content pages using Adsense.

How much you will be earning will depend on how much the advertisers are willing to pay. It will depend also on the keywords required. If the keywords the advertiser have chosen are in high demand, you could receive more dollars per click. On the other hand, low demand keywords will earn you just a few cents per click.

How can you start making profits out of your website using Adsense?

1. Sign up for an Adsense account. It will only take a few minutes of your time.

2. When the site is accepted, you will be receiving a clip code to include in your web pages. You can insert this code on as many pages or web sites that you want. The AdWords will start appearing immediately after.

3. You will be earning a few cents or some dollars per click when someone starts clicking on the AdWords displayed on any of your web pages. Trying to earn false revenues by repetitively clicking on your own ads is a no-no. This will result in a penalty or the possibility of your site being eliminated. The money you have already earned may be lost because of this.

4. View your statistics. Adsense earnings can be checked anytime by logging into your web site account.

Once you got your account working, you may still want to pattern them to the many sites that are earning more money than you are. It is important to note that there are factors affecting how your website will perform and the amount of money it will give you.

It is a common practice that when a site earning money, the tendency is for the owner to want to make more out of what they are getting already. It usually takes some time combined with trial and error to attain what you want for your Adsense contents.

Time and some important factors that you can practice and use.

How do you increase your Adsense earnings?

1. Choose one topic per page. It is best to write a content for your page with just a few targeted phrases. The search engine will then serve ads that are more relevant which will then result in higher clickthoughs.

2. Using white space around your ad. This can make your ad stand out from the rest of your page so visitors can spot them easily. There are also other choices of colors you can use, provided by search engines, which can harmonize the color of your ad with the web page color.

3. Test your ad placement. It is recommended to use the vertical format that runs down the side of the web page to get more positive results. You can also try both horizontal and vertical formats for a certain period of time to see which one will give you better results.
4. More content-based pages. Widen the theme of your website by creating pages that focus more on your keyword phrases. This will optimize the pages for the search engines. It can not only attract traffic but also make them more relevant for the AdWords to be displayed.
5. Site Build It. This is the perfect tool to be used for creating lots of Adsense revenues. Site Build It has all the tools necessary to quickly achieve a keyword-rich site that can rank high in the search engines. This will also produce a flow of traffic to your site of highly targeted visitors.

When I thought and decided that my topic was about recycling, I felt I should be in the Science class though my topic is also part of the T.L.E. Subject. The reason behind is that I can’t think of any good topic aside from recycling. Another reason is that, I felt that my learning about blogging would seem difficult because I haven’t made any blog before. It’ s just this time so as I thought, I should deal with relevant and simple topics.

Simple topics have simple and easy related informations to be researched or discussed. As for my topic, it’ s not difficult to get informations about it. It is because of the so called familiarity of it with everyone and of the internet but eventhough they’ re already familiar with it, it should have to be a little unique to other related blogs. For it to be a little unique, I will provide videos, pictures and graphics and if possible, statistics and testimonials about saving the Earth.

Topic for Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 You are intelligent, you use your mind to create something, then you

Topic for Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009

You are intelligent, you use your mind to create something, then you begin to gain profit from it. Some others are also intelligent but don’t use their mind to create like you. They want to exploit the thing you created, and give you not a penny on each dollar they earn. You feel angry, very angry, and die of that. Or their business grows faster, bigger than yours, they even play dirty to you, then they stay alive, you die. The end.

Fortunately, today there is Intellectual Property (IP) law. Such endings can be avoided, and you will die of another reasons rather than IP violations. Now let’s have a deeper look in IP. Issues you may like to consider:

1. IP law is unfair. Because when you copy and sell somebody’s book without permission, you have to run a business, deal with local government officals, face policemen, fight against other rivals… You work much harder than the guy who created the book, then why you have to pay that lazy guy, and why people have the right to punish you if you don’t?

2. China produces fake products, and be quite famous for that. And Chinese economy grow fast and go big. Chinese fake products even have impact on foreign product in domestic market, and even in foreign markets. Can we say fake product gives profit for China, makes China become more competitive? Should VN create such fake product industry like China?

3. Playing dirty while competing with your rivals is illegal, and is an IP violation. Your rival may give statement with unclear information about you, then, you suffer- do you have any example for that in VN market? How those companies dealt with such statements?

4. In VN, you can claim back 500 mil VND at max if IP violation causes you damages, and from 5 to 50 mil VND if it causes you mental/ spirital damages. Do you think this is the reason why VN IP law is weak? How much other countries may allow you to claim?

As always, I’ve been perusing our dear Internet for ideas on how to improve this place’s

As always, I’ve been perusing our dear Internet for ideas on how to improve this place’s visibility and appeal. My findings were quite useful, probably because I’m such a noob that nearly anyone’s advice is more than I already know. Check out this neat quote I found:

“Blogs are often too internally focused and ignore key usability issues, making it hard for new readers to understand the site and trust the author.” -Jakob Nielsen

This is the summary of an article on the top ten weblog design mistakes. I’ll interact with several of those points here, but you can click the link if you want it from the horse’s mouth. As they say. Sounds kind of offensive to me. Some of the points, while valid, were ones I chose to ignore because I’m not running a professional blog. I have strong preferences too, and where better to exercise them than on my own website? But I do care about you too. How can I serve you?

The first mistake was a lack of author biography on many blogs. Which I’m guilty of. I’ve been meaning to update that, so I’ll do that now. I’m supposed to write something that will get you to trust me – my expertise and my sincerity. My natural instinct is to let the writing speak for itself, but I guess it makes sense that you would want to know more about where I’m coming from.

I’m going to take a rain check on the author photo, however (I don’t understand that idiom either, could someone who runs a blog explaining such things enlighten me? I’m too lazy to Google it. My, my). I prefer to let your imaginations roam freely, but I will start you off by disclosing that I have brown hair. Do I have a peg leg? Is my hair naturally brown or just dyed currently? Am I Asian? Indian? Hmm…stick around.

Apparently my titles are inadequate. They’re too cute and humorous (aw, thanks for saying I’m funny! See, what you don’t understand is that I’m practically a prostitute for humor permeation. An out-of-business prostitute, ugh). Titles should be far more informational, for they’re the most valuable words I type. People on average only read the first three or four words of a title, according to the article. And they don’t want to be messed with. I think I may politely decline on this point too, however. I like my titles. I’ll count on the tags to pull you guys in.

I haven’t done too much with links yet (although you’ll notice an increase already in this article), but because I plan to this next warning is also useful. I need to be clear about where my links lead. I like this line: “Life is too short to click on an unknown.” How true. And yet not…one could argue that life is too short to only click on what you know. Those “life is too short” arguments are typically fallen. But point taken. I think I’ve been doing a decent job; you’ll find on my title page that I explain the difference between clicking on the Writing tab at the top and clicking on the categories list to the right. I also detail how to subscribe to the RSS feed, because up until recently I myself did not know about this feature and its capabilities. Even now that I know about it and use it to keep up with the news (in theory), I’m terrible about checking it. I’m sure you’re more diligent, so to be added to your subscription list would truly be an honor.

Good reminder to keep my most popular posts accessible, so new readers can get the best first, and also to link to other posts from entries that reference them, so readers can get the whole picture. Obvious stuff, but like I said, I’m a noob. I’m also completely guilty as charged of “mixing topics”. But I did tell you in my disclaimer that I wouldn’t keep these linear. I will completely knowingly wander around a bit, or a lot. I want to, so like always, the desire will trump the logic. I hope you’re okay with that. If you ask nicely, I could write a really focused post on a topic of your choice.

Here’s a helpful hint for Mac users: When clicking on links, hold down the command key to open that link in a new tab so you don’t lose the original article. There’s no telling how long a simple ‘Back’ function will take. If you have a PC, I’m sure there’s some equivalent. I’m not a hater, I used Windows for eighteen years of my life. Yes, I was using a computer from the day I was born, yes.

Mixed topics are, at present, a characteristic of this blog. You get a little of everything. I have been told it makes the entries seem more ‘real’. You may think differently. Never fear, I plan to diversify. At least I’m not putting posts in numerous categories. I would not have thought that anyone would be guilty of that, but there wouldn’t be a warning if there weren’t the mistake, right?

Funny story: I was at the contract-signing for my new job (English teacher, detailed here) and as we were going through the contract, the staff member mentioned that every clause in the document is there because some past employee has attempted said activity. That’s hilarious, considering how comprehensive the contract was. For example, I’m required to wear a dark suit to work. “It doesn’t have to be black – it could be navy, or dark ash…we just ask that you don’t show up looking like a pimp.” Haha. I would’ve liked to see that. Maybe not a funny story? Okay. Mediocre recollection of an amusing occurrence.

I’m supposed to write like my future boss will read this. Or my future wife (that wasn’t in the article but I think it goes right along with boss and might be even more worthy of consideration). I understand that. But I take it with a grain of salt. The chances that either of them will ever view this is quite low at present. The chances that they’ll be offended is significantly lower. I tend to think I’m a naturally inoffensive guy, except to easily-offended people. But on the other hand, I can never know what someone will take issue with. I do have strong opinions. You can call me out if you want. We can talk.

And finally, having a domain name owned by someone else. Yes, WordPress. I’m alright with that. Sure, it screams newbie. I’m not doing this for a living; I don’t consider it worth paying any money for just yet. At least WordPress is better than Geocities. What the heck is a Geocity.

Those are the top ten weblog mistakes I found, as told by Mr. Nielsen. I’m sure there are many more I’m committing as we speak (merely an expression used here for endearment). Ah well. Live and learn. Live and earn.

Before when I was in the bathroom I had a great idea for a new wing I could add to this building. I’m really excited about it, so maybe it’ll already be started by the time you read this. I’m thinking about calling it ‘Introductions’.

Nice to meet you.

-Grant

I bet you thought I was going to start off with “that is the question!” HA, I’m not as predictable as you thought I was!!! (I had to reallllly resist doing it) Anyway…

So lately I have been a slacker in my bloggitude. It could be assumed that I was off on an extravagant vacation, working infinite hours or that I lost power. Alas, none of those would be the truth. In fact, I have been at home, unemployed, spending alot of time on Facebook….but who doesn’t. The truth of the matter is that all of a sudden I am extremely picky on my entries. I think of a good handful of entries every day but when I go to <del datetime="2009-11-14T04:02:58+00:00">write</del> type them I just don’t want to write something that will waste your time. Yes…for those fleeting seconds when I have an empty blog post open with the cursor blinking in a very mocking fashion I actually think that I am enhancing your day with my verbiage. Well, it’s either that or I have been to ADD lately to….SQUIRREL!

Uh right where was I. So I vow to you, my loyal reader (thanks Mr. guest), that I will no longer let my blogging ego be puffed up when the views go above 7 and that no matter how inane my thinking, I shall persevere and blog on.

(I would love to say that it’s the wine talking, but I can’t say that for another 20 minutes) ; )

Tonight I gotta start writing on my Religion home-exam, been posponing for a few days now…and it’s gotta be in on thursday
-However it shouldnt be so difficult, Im a master at essays and reports

Went to the cinema with our filmclass this afternoon, we saw an animatedfilm called ” Waltz with Bashir“, a movie about the Palestina/ Israel conflict.
-It was a quite interesting story viewing the war in the 80´s thru the eyes of about 4 different people who had all been at the front and survived, but the movie was mostly impressively animated; looked like it had been made in Flash but extremely professionally.
I recommend everybody to see it actually, if you are interested about the conflict.

Here is another interesting discussion, about violence.
Or actually, rather about consensual violence, what is that?
No, I’m not talking about the leatherwhip fetish or likewise but rather this school phenomenon encountered in probably every grade there is.

Im talking about when mainly girls consensually let the guys abuse them, without resisting or saying anything about it.
Im talking about the girls that squirmish like maggots and say like ” oh…no…stop…uh, please…” , Like they have no will of their own, but also like they are enjoying it?
I find this very weird, if you dont like when a guy is hitting, lifting you up or teasing you; then say so, bitch!
Or maybe you do like being abused? Yeah, I think this is quite true among many, they love the attention and physical contact.
Either they dont get that all guys main priority when it comes to girls, especially girls in school; is SEX, or they are whores and…yeah, want some.
I’d go for the latter, girls nowadays are smart ‘enough’ to get that.

I dont like touching people when it isnt necessary, especially girls, I dont even like giving hugs really…I actually find it very annoying and hugs are scientifically proven to be lethal!
The perfect opportunity to get shanked with a dagger, 8 out of 10 victims are killed instantly from hugs!
-Whats wrong with a good old handshake? Too masculine?
Point is, sure I like girls just as much as the next guy, but what is this ever ongoing need to have to be all over them, hugging, pushing, hitting and verbally abusing and giving them 110% attention all of the time?
-Maybe that’s why nobody likes me, because I dont give them attention…maybe so, but I’d rather keep my pride and solitary state then become a manwhore.
-Worse yet, being someone who gives into the cravings of a real WHORE!

The higlight of the day was that I finally got my ID card
It looks really cool, only wish I’d had my current hairstyle on it, but I still think it looks better than most peoples photos, and my signature is…well, perfect if I may say so myself

News editors decide what to broadcast on television and what to print in newspapers. What factors do

News editors decide what to broadcast on television and what to print in newspapers. What factors do you think influence these decisions? Do we become used to bad news? Would it be better if more good news was reported?

————————

News editors play an important role in deciding what to be showed to broadcast television or to printed newspaper. In the essay, two main factors that may influence to these decision will be discussed.

First of all, the costumers/or audiences/or readers will be the one who have strong effects to the decision. It is obvious that news editors have to reach the program depend on audience’s favorites. For example, they could show the news about celebrates for young or teen audiences instance of economic or political news which just help for the businessmen or just elder customers.

Another factor that is also important for the decision making is attractive levels of the updated information. People always expect to obtain fresh information or breaking news. That is a reason why every broadcast or printed company has to follow this stage, tries to make their channels always crowed people and they also get a lot of benefit from advertising companies.

In reality, many broadcasts or printed companies try to give people bad news to attract them. They have reasons to do that, because in psychology we are so curious about something happened and what will be next. For example, when the news of earthquake showed up, audiences will concern to know where it is, how its damaged to the people, will it affects something else. Many things that people want to know. That why the broadcast companies are always successful with that kind of news. They have more audiences, more profitability from advertisements.

However, giving just bad news sometimes makes people feel boring, sad and thinks negative ways. It is better to be equal the numbers of bad news and good news so that the costumers can get in proportion to their life. Such as , the news of economic down always makes people confusing, frustrating. But If the new editors just give some news about some solutions to improve, they can feel a bright future and they can be happy to stay in front of TV longer than just reported all sad bad news.

In conclusion, we are now living in the communication era, so the daily news is very important for all of us . That why the role of news editors are more crucial in the areas which is requited more challenge in making satiation for every body in order to obtain useful information. Moderation between bad news and good news is the key to keep balance and let audiences not run away the broadcast or newspaper.

Ibn Rajab al Hanbali | Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 25 | Size: 1 MB
This book is a translation of a short treatise entitled Kashf-ul-Kurbah fee wasfi Hali Ahlil-Ghurbah, or Alleviating Grievances in Describing the Condition of the Strangers, written by the great Imaam, Al- Hafidh Zayn-ud-Deen Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbalee, rahimahullaah. In this treatise, Ibn Rajab deals with the topic of the Strangers, or Al-Ghuraba. He begins by listing the many ahaadeeth reported about them, in which the Messenger of Allah describes their attributes and explains their position. They are given this name because they will be strange during the Last Days, due to their adherence to the Sunnah and to the Way of the First Muslims, the Salaf As-Salih. So just as those who first accepted Islaam at the hands of Muhammad (saws) were considered strangers with their families and close ones, then indeed, those who adhere to the Sunnah in the last Days, when innovations and misguidance are rampant and widespread, will also be considered strangers amidst their families and close ones, not to mention the disbelievers.

The Imam then goes on to explain these ahaadeeth based on various statements from the Salaf. And he categorizes this Strangeness into several types – both inner and outer. It must be noted that Ibn Rajab uses several weak ahaadeeth in this treatise, which have been pointed out. And towards the end of his treatise, he begins to divert from the topic by going deep into the issue of inner strangeness, sometimes focusing on aspects that have no basis in Islaam, such as talk about the ‘Aarif, wajd, khulwah, etc. These were Sufi ideas that were prevalent during his time.

Ibn Rajab al Hanbali
He was the noble Imaam, the Haafidh, the Critic, Zayn-ud-Deen ‘Abdur-Rahmaan bin Ahmad bin ‘Abdir-Rahmaan bin al-Hasan bin Muhammad bin Abil-Barakaat Mas’ood As-Salaamee Al-Baghdaadee (due to his placce of birth), Al-Hanbalee (due to his madh-hab), Ad-Dimashqee (due to his place of residence and death). His kunyah was Abul-Faraj, and his nickname was Ibn Rajab, which was the nickname of his grandfather who was born in that month (of Rajab). He was born in Baghdad in 736H and was raised by a knowledgeable family, firmly rooted in knowledge, nobility and righteousness. His father played the greatest role in directing him towards the beneficial knowledge who himself was a great scholar. Ibn Rajab, may Allaah have mercy on him, was deeply attached to the works of Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taimiyyah, for he would issue legal rulings according to them and would constantly reference his books. This is since he served as a student under Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, the most outstanding student of Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taimiyyah, may Allah have mercy on all of them. But in spite of this, he (rahimahullaah) wasn’t a blind follower or a fanatical adherent (to his teacher). Rather, he would review, authenticate, verify and follow the evidences He became an expert in all the sciences related to hadith. He then taught hadith, and fiqh according to Hanbali school. He was a leading scholar of the Hanbali school. His work al-Qawa`id al-kubra fi al-furu` is clear evidence of his expertise in fiqh, demonstrating an extreme, even exhaustive knowledge of the intricacies of detailed fiqh issues. He was known for piety, righteousness. His sermons were considered most effective, full of blessing and beneficial. People of all schools were unanimous as to his quality, and the hearts of the people were full of love for him. He did not get involved in any worldly business, nor visited people of material positions. Among his best known and most referred works is the book (Jami` al-ulum wa al-hikam) the commentary on al-Arba`un (the forty hadiths) of al-Nawawi. He added ten hadiths to the original 40 and commented in detail on all of these fifty hadiths. This commentary discusses all aspects of the hadiths, the chain of narrations, the narrators, and the text. He also wrote a detailed 20-Volume scholarly commentary on the Sunan at-Tirmidhi Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-`Asqalani said of him: “He was a great expert in the sciences of hadith – the historical accounts of narrators, the chains of narration, and meaning of the text.” Al-Haafidh Ibn Rajab, may Allaah have mercy on him passed to the realm of the Akhira in Ramadaan, 795H. He died while in Damascus.

The United States Constitution is a very important topic for the US History and Government curriculum. The document in itself entitles the citizens of the United States to certain freedoms both through a Bill of Rights, separation of powers and federalism. Flexibility to adapt to differing times and people is also a key component of the document. The significance of this document not only inspired our country to achieve new and better things, but it also inspired other countries to achieve great things as well. The goal of this weblog is to facilitate the process in which students will create their own countries.
