• Outside my window… (weather, what do you hear, what do you see?)  of the van as I was turning into the complex, I saw a fox.  It was absolutely beautiful.

• From the kitchen…(menu for the week, what are you cooking?)  I stuffed the phylo cups with strawberries and topped with whip cream.  It was a nice little refreshing bite with all of the heavy pies and cakes.

• i am wearing…my workout clothes and I had a chance to go to the gym after work.  Doing two times a day.

• i am creating…(crafts, sewing etc;)  peace and tranquility

• my adventures this week…(where are you going this week?)  No adventures this week.  Just basking in the afterglow of being around Master and my family.

• Becoming well read…(What are you reading this week?)  I am still reading Anneke Jacobs book “As She’s told”.  I am also learning about totems.  Looking to see which one would be for me.  Master thinks it is the dog and I agree with that.  After researching out, the dog has been very prominent in my life.  Also the duck.

• i manifest and co-create…(what are your hopes, dreams, and prayers this week) Peace and tranquility in my house and with my children.

• Today’s Melody…(what music are you listening to? even if it’s just the sound of a bird…) Master and I danced to a great slow song.  I can’ t remember the name of the song…grrr but I am determined to find it…LOL

• One of my favorite things..is to watch a movie that is so good it makes you talk to the screen…lol

Para nadie es un secreto que las versiones de adobe flash para linux son un asco, y lo peor de todo es que flash se ha vuelto un estandarte en las páginas web.
Si tienes problemas, como yo, al intentar ver vídeos en youtube. Pues, tengo la solución, solo debes buscar en tus aplicaciones instaladas una de nombre Totem (está aplicación es un reproductor de vídeos, en linux). Después de localizar la aplicación y ejecutarlar nos dirigimos a Editar/Complementos y activamos el examinador de youtube y aceptar. Luego activalo acá:

Este complemente permite visualizar los vídeos de una manera bastante optimo y desde el escritorio. Pero, eso sí necesitaras de una conección de internet bastante decente para que pueda funcionar correctamente.

Hace unos días que quiero ver un par de videos y no puedo hacerlo con Totem, ni con VLC, ni con Miro, ni con 3 ó 4 reproductores más. Así que supuse que el problema estaría en los codecs. Algunos reproductores me dejaban escuchar el audio, pero no veía el video.

Como instalar otros reproductores no solucionaba nada, me puse a buscar la solución con Google… Y la encontré.

Como indica la entrada aquí, abrí la terminal (uso Guake) y pegué esta línea:

sudo aptitude install libavcodec52

Después de pedirme la contraseña (como cada vez que se instala algo en Ubuntu, lo que está muy bien) me advirtió de algunas librerías bibliotecas incompatibles y que iba a desinstalar el editor de video OpenShot (pero lo vi en el Centro de software de Ubuntu, así que lo volveré a instalar más adelante) y en dos minutos ya estaba viendo mi serie.

Totem reproduciendo una serie. No tiene muchos botones, pero sirve para audio y video (acepta subtítulos), todo en uno. Y es muy simple y muy práctico.

Así que: ¡ Gracias, Ubuntu FTW !

Anda pernah membeli buku biografi? Atau pernah menghadiri seminar oleh pembicara terkenal, yang ternyata isinya kebanyakan bicara soal pengalaman hidupnya? Kalau jawaban Anda pernah, apa sih yang Anda cari? Biar saya tebak: teladan.

Betul, manusia perlu teladan dalam hidupnya. Maka, dicarilah teladan-teladan itu. Dalam teori sosiologi, pencarian teladan ini disebut “idolatry”. Bagi manusia, pencarian idolatry ini bisa jadi pencarian seumur hidup. Bahkan menimbulkan gangguan kejiwaan yang tidak disadari. Mengambil pengalaman pribadi, saya banyak menemui wanita yang mengalami “Cinderella Complex” dan sebaliknya lelaki yang mengalami “Oedipus Complex”. Ini merupakan pencarian idolatry terhadap ayah dan ibu yang tak selesai. Penderita gangguan kejiwaan ini tak perlu masuk Rumah Sakit Jiwa dan tetap hidup normal seperti orang lain. Ketidaknormalan baru nampak saat mereka memilih pasangan hidup, tanpa sadar –karena memang letak pikiran ini di bawah sadar- mereka mencari figur idol ayah dan ibu dari pasangan hidupnya.

Itu baru idolatry yang terkait gangguan kejiwaan. Sementara kebanyakan orang hidup dengan mencari idolatry dari para nama besar di berbagai bidang. Karena itulah kemudian buku biografi laku dijual, demikian pula seminar serupa. Bahkan, idolatry pun kemudian diabadikan dalam bentuk totemisme. Bila di awal masa peradaban manusia totemisme merupakan personifikasi Tuhan menjadi bentuk-bentuk yang dipahami manusia, atau sebaliknya menuhankan sesuatu yang jamak dikenal dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, kini totemisme menjadi sebuah bentuk idolatry gaya baru. Lihatlah betapa bentuk-bentuk yang dulu disembah, kini tetap diidolakan, hanya dalam format non-ketuhanan. Misalnya lambang-lambang kesatuan militer yang mengambil bentuk-bentuk binatang yang dianggap gagah untuk mewakili keperkasaan mereka, atau logo apa pun yang di dalamnya ada bentuk idolatry terutama simbol atau penanda. Bahkan tiap negara punya idolatry berbentuk lambang negara dan bendera nasional.

Manusia dengan rela ‘menyembah’ idolatry itu, dimana memang awalnya idolatry terkait dengan totemisme yang merupakan bentuk ‘penyembahan’ terhadap representasi kekuatan yang dianggap melebihi manusia, secara mudah kita menyebutnya Tuhan. Dalam kajian agama, kata “idolatry” sering digunakan untuk menyebut penyembahan kepada yang non-Tuhan. Walau sebenarnya kata ini bisa digunakan secara luas sebagai bentuk penyembahan kepada apa saja yang dikagumi.

Goliciunea trupului uman a suscitat necontenit interesul general. De la obiectele totemico-falice ale vremurilor străvechi, la artiştii renascentişti şi până la revistele pentru adulţi contemporane, toţi au încercat să scoată în evidenţă părţile ascunse sub straie. Dacă pe moşul Hefner îl putem considera părintele nudismului actual, liderii politici autohtoni post-decembrişti ’89 pot fi suiţi pe cel mai înalt piedestal închinat artei nudismului complet. Aş numi nudism complet inclusiv goliciunea spirituală şi financiară a populaţiei de origine parţial latină, stabilită în limitele statului cunoscut sub numele de România.

În afara învelişului de piele exterior căptuşit de strat adipos şi umplutura organico-sangvină suntem complet goi. De sentimente, pasiune, idealuri, viaţă. Sângele ne curge prin vine doar pentru a-şi îndeplini rolul biologic şi nicidecum pentru a pulsa îndârjirea, dorinţa de a fi noi înşine, de a rămâne deasupra mocirlei denumită trai. Atât ca popor cât şi individual nu am avut multe niciodată. Ni se spunea totuşi, odată, că aveam omenie, bun simţ şi blajinitate în comportament. Nu ştiu dacă sunt virtuţi sau slăbiciuni în lumea mileniului 3, dar deţineam în “proprietate” naţională elemente identificatoare pentru statutul nostru de popor. Acum nu mai avem nimic. Naţionalismul constructiv, mândria, idealurile statale & Co nu sunt nici măcar ultimele pe listă. Nu mai există, darămite să mai capteze atenţie. 

 În 20 de ani am reuşit, cu ajutorul necondiţionat al mai-marilor ţării, să nu mai aspirăm la nimic. Jalnicul suprem derivă din invidia generaţiilor tinere pentru “şansa” părinţilor de a primi fără multă bătaie de cap un acoperiş deasupra capului şi un loc de muncă. Indiferent că majoritatea blocurilor comuniste sunt mai ciuruite ca un şvaiţer iar postul de fochist nu era întocmai visul unui român, fie acesta şi de rând. Măcar era încadrat în clasa muncitoare. Mi se pare incredibil să jinduim la asemenea “realizări” când normalul ne-ar obliga să avem cu totul alte preocupări profesionalo-familiale. Practic, treburile uzuale (casă, masă, automobil, serviciu) s-ar impune ca banale pentru un om banal. Adică licenţiat, serios, isteţ, dornic de muncă, cu familie şi aşa mai departe. Pentru restul treaba devine discutabilă, în funcţie de capacităţi. De la tăietorul de frunză la câini până la patronul cu 25 de vile şi 6 târfe pe seară. Nu mă interesează şi nici nu ar trebui să mă privească acest aspect atâta timp cât mi-aş parcurge trăirea într-un mod civilizat. Ceea ce nu pot numi “chestia” care la câteva ore după încasarea salariului mă lasă cu prea puţini şfanţi în buzunar. De-o tură la supermarket şi apoi ce a da Domnul. Şi ştiu că nu sunt tocmai un ghinionist. Alţii (mulţi) m-ar invidia.

Suntem mai goi decât un voyeur profesionist. Ne hlizim la fazele produse de oamenii cu această dambla, dar nu ne diferenţiem cu nimic. Doar că încercăm să ne ascundem în spatele realităţii şi al hainelor. Indiferent că ne facem cumpărăturile de la Gucci sau de la Dragonul Roşu tot aia e. Singura diferenţă este că unii mai pot petrece o săptămână în Hawaii sau Bora Bora iar alţii la socrii, în Tăutelec. Nici măcar visele nu ne mai ajută, sunt doar coşmaruri.

Suntem goi…

“Κυνηγώ το πριν, παίζω κρυφτό με το μετά, στέκει το τώρα και κοιτά με βουρκωμένα μάτια. Χάνομαι σε ιστορίες, σε μύθους και χαμένες ατλαντίδες που μόνη φτιάχνω.. Και καθώς στο πέρασμα μου παρασύρω κι άλλους εκεί, κλέβω ένα κομμάτι από την ψυχή τους.. το φροντίζω στοργικά μονάχα όταν γίνει απολύτως δικό μου.

Μέχρι τότε όμως παραδίνομαι σε μια τρέλα που σκοπό έχει να πείσει για να πειστεί. Χίλια κομμάτια για τον κάθε έρωτα.. μα δεν είναι έρωτας. Είναι φυγή από μένα. Είναι αργός και προσεχτικά σχεδιασμένος θάνατος για τον άλλο.

Όσοι πολύ μ’αγάπησαν λένε είμαι καλή στην καρδιά… Χα! Τι ξέρουν εκείνοι? Μέσα μου ένα φρικιό σαλεύει αργά στη λάσπη. Δεν μιλά, μόνο κοιτά με ένα επιτακτικό βλέμμα.. Απαιτεί να τραφεί. Εγωισμό κάποτε το ονόμασα. Μα δεν υπακούει σ’αυτό, θέλει να πάρει το όνομα μου. Πόσο πολύ το θέλησα να απαλλαγώ.. μα δεν μ’αφήνει.. ίσως.. φοβάμαι ίσως πως δεν τ’αφήνω να μ’αφήσει.

Γυρνώ στο γυάλινο δάσος, εδώ στους πλαστούς μου κόσμους και βγαίνω μονάχα όταν κάτι μου ερεθίσει το μυαλό. Ποθώ τους πόθους των άλλων. Γίνομαι αυτό που θέλουν, παίζω θέατρο και όταν μ’αποκτήσουν φεύγω. Ποια να’ναι η αλήθεια μου?

Έχω την ανάγκη να λεηλατώ ή να με λεηλατούν?

Ήθελα μάλλον να αφεθώ, να με διαλύσουν.. να μου πάρουν το είναι μου.. Έτσι νόμιζα είναι ο έρωτας. Και στρωνόμουν χαλί να με πατήσουν. Μα είναι η μοίρα μου να με συνοδεύει πάντα κι ένα επίθετο. Μαγικό χαλί λοιπόν γινόμουν και ανέβαζα ψηλά όποιον μ’ακουμπούσε. Σάστιζαν εκείνοι και έπεφταν ξανά.. τι φταίω?

Μαζεύω τα κουφάρια αναμνήσεων στην φωτεινή μου πόλη. Μα σαν σβήνω τα φώτα, φτιάχνω μ’αυτά τοτεμ σαν παράφρων δολοφόνος.. που ωστόσο αγάπησε κάθε του στιγμή κι ας ήταν αιχμηρή.

Τι ξημερώνει σε τούτο εδώ το μυαλό που σπαρταρά δεν ξέρω.. μα έχω μονάχα ένα σου πω… κομμάτια στα τέσσερα σημεία του ορίζοντα θα σκορπιστώ για όποιον αγαπήσει ότι αγαπώ..

Αλήθεια και ψέμα γίναν ένα και δεν ξέρεις ποιο τώρα τάχα φανερώνω.. κρύβομαι τώρα κάπου εδώ σε μπερδεμένες λέξεις και σκόρπια νοήματα.. Δεν είμαι οτι νομίζεις.”

Totem does not play the avi/divx codec movies out of the box. There is a workaround. Even if trying to install missing plugins, it fails.

Solution :
Add rpmfusion free and non-free repositories from here

Once its done, install VLC player (Don’t criticize me yet, there is more ).
For some reason after you open the movie again in Totem player, and try installing plugins, it will install the missing ones now. Then close the open player and reopen it. It will now be able to play all the files.

Se trata de un complemento para Firefox que permite ver vídeos incrustados y además se integra perfectamente con el escritorio. Es por tanto una buena opción para remplazar a mplayer-plugin o totem-plugin. Su instalación es muy sencilla.

Fedora

Podemos bajarnos el código fuente y compilarlo o instalarlo usando los repositorios de RPMfusion.

ArchLinux

Recientemente se ha añadido al repositorio “community” por lo que podemos instalarlo usando pacman.

pacman -Sy gecko-mediaplayer

Si tenías instalado mplayer-plugin cuando actualices el sistema (pacman -Syu) te aparecerá un mensaje preguntándote si quieres cambiar ese plugin por gecko-mediaplayer.

We had another win last weekend when Totem won best website design for the Tannery Website at the IDEAs awards in Dublin last Friday evening.  The Dungarvan firm scooped gold over the weekend at the Irish Design Effectiveness Awards in Dublin which are viewed among design practitioners as the industry’s Oscars.

The awards are an all-island competition, open to any firm whose core business is branding, visual communications or new media. The IDEAs rewards design projects that deliver measured financial returns through the design process alone.

TOTEM’s Managing Director Colin Byrne says the award is all the more satisfying because it was won against stiff competition from across the island of Ireland.

“We are delighted. This is a highly recognised National Award. The essence of the award is about how effective the design has been for the client, in this case the Tannery Restaurant and Cookery School.
