Just in time for the holidays there is yet another new App for the iPhone. It’s designed to help you be stress free.  Developed by Deepak Chopra it is maybe less kitschy than it sounds. 

“Most people when they think of iPhones or BlackBerries or just everything that’s digital these days, they associate it with stress,” Chopra says. “So the thought came to me, why not use the very technology that is supposedly distracting you to bring you to the present, to help you focus on the moment, to help you get rid of stress. There is no stopping technology, and what we do with it depends on us.”

 Apparently you can use the touchpad to get feedback on your stress level at any given moment. I’m reminded of the mood ring!

Here’s my stress around iPhone apps: I have an older iPhone and adding 2 free games last week took me over my size limit and I had to delete the dictionary and grocery list apps that I also wanted to add! Talk about stress!

One naturally comes to the conclusion that maybe just eliminating technology would eliminate some of the stress?

I woke up a little late, but it is Monday and here is my little wrap-up of last weekend.  I know MAMA is done and over with, and last night was the AMA’s, but here it is, just so no one thinks I missed out on anything (not that there was much to miss out on, anyway).  It will be quick and easy because I was unenthused for the most part.

I’ll start with Korea’s MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards)

First, I’m just going to get this outta the way – who witnessed THIS unfortunate incident??

I thought it was kinda funny that G-Dragon rocked so damn hard that he bust his seems, and in the most  inconvenient area.  I wonder if he noticed, or worse, felt it the second it happened… xP

I’m indifferent about the performances on Saturday night’s award show.  1.) I didn’t like the stage 2.) I detested the camera work and 3.) the performers lacked a bit of something…what is it…um, stage presence?  I like a lot of the songs that were performed at MAMA, but I was left a little underwhelmed by most of the acts.

And speaking of ‘acts‘, act 1, 2, and 3 of 2NE1’s 21st Street Musical was the most uncomfortable I’ve seen those ladies, ever.  The whole thing was scary.  See, the idea was great, but when I saw it for the first time on Saturday, I had no clue why they decided to stick with it.

If it was awkward for me to watch from my computer, who knows what the audience was thinking.

Act 1: KISS by Sandara – was all over the place.  The dancing was strange.  I noticed that Dara’s section of the stage said Club KISS, so I didn’t quite understand why the dancers were whirling around doing pirouettes.  Whirling in a club??  Don’t think so, and the cameraman hardly focused on Dara, and not to mention the terrible lighting at times… -_-

Act 2: You and I by Bom -  She looked adorable in her little house set, but on the contrary to Dara’s lack of focus from the cameraman, with Bom, all we had was her standing there while you’d get a glimpse of people scurrying around in the background.  She sounded good, though, but this is where I was thinking to myself ; “what does this have to do with act 1?“

Act 3: Please Don’t Go by CL and Minji – And this is where I realized that the entire concept of a musical was thrown out of the window. CL and Minji’s outfits are a little questionable, but this performance taken out of the whole musical was probably the best one.

As for the ending number, I thought it was dreadful.  I hope YG doesn’t put 2NE1 through something like this again, cuz it was not that great.

21st Street:

I still love 2NE1, though.

Brown Eyed Girls performed Sign, which wasn’t half bad, actually.  The beginning in particular was really nice.  They looked stun-ning!  They also performed a little number with KARA, dancing to a mix of Mister and Abracadabra, which was pretty hot, too.

Miryo took part in a little rap get-together with rappers from other female groups and, oddly enough, rapped to Lil’ Mama’s Lip Gloss.  To be honest, I don’t take any of these ladies as serious rappers.  Especially that girl with the black fur coat – she annoyed me with her sudden squeals.

G-Dragon and Taeyang performed their solo songs, along with a duet of Korean Dream.  Korean Dream was one of the better performances, I think.  G-Dragon’s DJ section was nice.

As for their solo songs, I saw no purpose for having all those men standing there on stage for Heartbreaker, doing absolutely nothing.  And I hurt a little when Taeyang did that flip and crotch landing on the floor.

2PM performed Heartbeat, which was actually really good.  They looked good and their hairstyle still makes me laugh.  JYP comes up somewhere in the middle and ‘pretends’ to conduct an orchestra.  But he redeems himself for poor orchestra knowledge with all the cool effects that later followed.  I think he took those flashy glasses from Miryo.  xD  Near the end, 2PM performs Again & Again.

Then there was this number.  Netizens aren’t too happy about this, mainly fangirls who are oozing with jealousy.  I, personally, thought this was a good performance.  Nichkhun was obviously part of the whole thing, but there are people out there that believe Ivy drew him up and made him uncomfortable by force.  No, no, no, uncomfortable is far from what he felt.  And the cleavage shouldn’t be an issue, I mean, if you’re listening to the song, Ivy is making it pretty clear that she wants to be touched.  A lot.

when a performance gets super heated like this, no one should take it seriously.  She was putting on a show, that’s what performers do, and she did a great job, no?

A pile of artists performed.  Janet Jackson opened the night with a decent melody of songs.  She was clearly lip-syncing, but that’s not a big shocker, since she always does that.  There were some boring performances in between.  One that I did enjoy was Shakira.  I thought she was amazing.  I thought it was funny when many women started dancing sexually in front of all the celebrities; you could tell they were awkwarded out.  I didn’t know the song Rihanna performed, so I didn’t like it.  Lady Gaga kept it pretty safe with the most outrageous part being a flaming piano.  And I think that’s where I stopped watching the award show because it was so goddamn boring.  I read that Jennifer Lopez fell on her butt, which was probably hilarious, since she’s struggling to break out on the music scene again…

It’s been so long since I heard this song:

Heh…saw this coming…obviously. Ivy’s under the fire for her sexy performance (‘World of Temptation’ + ‘Touch Me’) on MAMA with Nichkhun of 2PM. If you look at those K-Netizen comments…uh…ouch much? It’s one thing to think a performance has too much skinship, but another to accuse Ivy to have had surgery and saying ‘poor Nichkhun’. That’s insulting. Just because she’s got a figure doesn’t mean she went under surgery for her boobs. Jeez. And people need to be less ignorant; she’s wearing a corset! Obviously it’ll emphasize her chest! And poor Nichkhun? Excuse me? That’s very insulting to Ivy. She’s got some great talent, and her vocals are great. But I think I’m going to laugh forever at the ‘This is like Porn’ comment. What on earth? How old is the commenter? Like 10 years old?

It’s JUST A PERFORMANCE. People need to calm down. I know Khun’s got a LOT of fans, so they’re bound to be jealous and like spam Ivy’s mini hompy page with comments. It’s meant to entertain and well, it did its job alright. I was entertained. I very much agree with the ‘If there is too much hating, how can our country develop in terms of concert culture?’ comment.

Watch the performance…if it’s too much for your eyes, don’t watch then.

Singer Ivy has angered many netizens with her sexy joint performance with 2PM Nich Khun on 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) on 21st November.

The concept of her performance that day was ‘vampire concept’ and she was seen clad in a white dress, showing her a very sexy cleavage, and putting up a dance performance which was involved much skinship with Nich Khun.

And all these while many fans from different parts of Asia are watching closely to. After MAMA ended, many netizens have visited Ivy’s minihompy and left comments like “I was watching this with my family and I felt embarrassed”, “Even though it may be the concept, the outfit is too revealing” etc

Ivy’s company has also came out to clarify, “2PM fans, please look at this as just a performance.”

Without further ado, let’s go on with the show!  Here’s part i of the walkthrough, covering tracks 1-6 of the album, if you need to read.  Once again, please enjoy and you can download my album at the link above / at the bottom of the page if you haven’t already!

7. Touch Me

This was the first single off the album, and it samples “Nobody But You” by Cassie and The-Dream.  I added some more drums and extra instruments (like the piano line) to give it a little extra kick.  Sonically and lyrically, it’s a little bit lighter than the songs which have come prior, because I didn’t want the album to be too heavy all the way through.  Life isn’t like that, and we all need to have some fun and not be so serious sometimes.  The theme of this one is about liking somebody  and having a crush on them, and just being flirtatious and wanting to have a good time with them – letting whatever happens, happen!  After a comment from my friend Emma who heard the song today, it’s interesting that none of the songs on the album have any relation to anything that’s happened in the last couple of months (I finished writing and recording the album at the beginning of September), because this song lyrically is more than a little appropriate right now. It’s also an unofficial part 2 to one of the very first songs I did, called “Reach Out”.

8. High Fashion

With “Touch Me”, this portion of the album is the ‘uptempo / club ready’ section, the part of the night when you just want to dance, have a good time and feel fierce.  I was inspired a lot by working at the Perfume Shop and being surrounded by a lot of luxury or designer brands like Prada, Gucci, Dior, and how tempting and intoxicating that whole world is.  For me, designer is increasingly a natural fit, though I try not to be snobby with it – I want my jewellery and accessories to feel special to me, not a normality.  But I like the authenticity of real designer, real luxury items – “I’m a real boy / I like real things”.  Originally, I envisioned the song being a midtempo like “Hook Boy”, but the lyrics have a bit of swag and confidence and I fell in love with a Garageband sample which was very poppy and uptempo – this is the poppiest song on the record, in my opinion.  I also enjoyed shouting out my half-Italian heritage, because my favourite designers are almost all Italian (Christian Dior is the exception) houses.  In short, the song’s message is that fashion is more than just what you wear, it’s a part of who you are and inherent in your attitude, outlook and all sorts of things.  And I honestly believe that.

9. Theory (Interlude)

This one’s a spoken interlude just explaining why I enjoy wearing designer items, and what things like that mean to me.  I do feel special with the right necklace on, I won’t deny it.  But I also think that looking put together is both a savvy self-promotion, and a convenient barricade between the outside world and the vulnerability I keep inside.  This interlude just explains that.

10. Armani Earrings

Can you say “SWAG”?!? I love this song, the lyrics were so much fun to write (and I challenged myself to include lots of polysyllabic words, because I’m a literate boy!), and this is my rap song!  Rapping is something I’m seeking to improve at, and I liked my flow on this song a lot.  I wanted to honour my Armani studs (my signature look), which have paid for themselves in compliments alone! Originally, the whole thing was rapped, but I’m a singer and not a rapper, so I made the bridge and final chorus more melodic, which ended up adding to the force of the song, rather than detracting away from it.  I love the bassline, which was inspired by a HOT track I saw on youtube, by Tila Tequila called “I Fucked The DJ” – it goes hard!!  I also shout out one of my favourite CDs back from when I was a teenager, which was Tatyana Ali’s Kiss The Sky.  Originally, “Armani Earrings” was supposed to be slightly slower, with a more gangsta beat, but once I heard that song, I knew that I wanted that kind of sound to make my song really club-ready – it took a little while to get it right, but I love this song now.  Although I don’t really believe that my boyfriend is more expendable than my bracelet, it’s fun to sing!  And it depends on the boyfriend

11. Quiet Storm

There’s a reason why this song is the title track of the album, and why it’s slap bang in the middle – for me, this is the centrepiece of the whole record.  Production-wise, I’m so proud of it – the stuttering beat and the mysterious piano really embodies a night-time jam. I was inspired on this track by Danity Kane’s “Right Now”, Jennifer Lopez’s Hex Hector remix of “Waiting For Tonight”, and Lil’ Wayne’s “Got Money” – that’s the “tick tick boom” lyric explained for you!  The guitar solo in the middle (and the heavy breathing shots) emphasises sensuality and sexuality, and the song is just about being in this perfect moment surrounded by a pounding bass in the middle of the club, just seeing somebody and being irresistibly attracted to them to the point where everything melts away.  So it’s very sexy, very captivating, very seductive, but also very mysterious and nocturnal.  It’s about love and attraction being a force of nature that is literally more powerful than music – and if you know me, you’ll know just how powerfully I feel music.  I wanted a song that I could dance to in a club, that I could chill to and feel the lyrics, that I could wind to on my patio at night.  And this song ticks all those boxes for me, so I wanted this song to be the album’s signature track and indicative of all that I wanted to achieve with this project.

Ivy revealed the full MV for her comeback title song ‘Touch Me’, as well as the MV for a ballad track off her album ‘I Be…’, ‘Goodbye Tears’. She also had her comeback stage on M!Countdown.
The ‘Touch Me’ MV is very provocative and sexy. Some netizens are wondering as to why she would do this, because it’ll bring up mentions about her sex scandal again. For the record, it was actually just her ex-bf making stuff up. There WAS no sex tape. She was the victim in the whole case, yet she was shunned away. Wonderful how humans act, isn’t it? -.-

Goodbye Tears

One of Korea’s top controversial female singers, IVY, has been slowly, but surely, making her presence known again in the music scene!

After a few teasers and some song previews, she has already released two full MV’s and is making her song “Touch Me” the third. The electro pop fused song is a big contrast to her two previous songs, “Goodbye Tears” & “I Am.”

The MV shows her posing in many diva ways and in two particular sequence shots, we see her back to back with a half naked guy & inside a glass box with three other guys. Pretty crazy right? The song seems to empower her and she certainly does a lot of self-touching on screen.

Although Netizens might be on edge because of her controversial personal life a few years back, others are welcoming her back have been waiting for this fierce femme to take charge of the stage again!
