I hop to hear more from Missy this coming year. Female rappers need to step it up. I mean ppl are saying Niki Minaj is the best cuz shes the only one doing it consistently. ( not that great though)

What do ya think?

A few days ago, I posted an article called “Music Video Literal Interpretation” in which a person dubbed over new lyrics to a-Ha’s famous hit “Take On Me” in order to literally describe and interpret what was happening in the video. Needless to say, it was pure genius as I could not stop laughing. Similar to that idea, someone has decided to literally interpret what this person is singing. The song he is trying to sing is “Touch My Body” by Mariah Carey. However, as you will see from the video below, it sounds a bit different. One thing is for sure: kareoke is not in this guy’s future.

Okay, I realise that I’m in serious danger of stanning for Mariah Carey before the album even

Okay, I realise that I’m in serious danger of stanning for Mariah Carey before the album even drops, and I posted about her only yesterday. But reading certain blogs and forums, which I know are only opinions often by a lot of small minded people or people who are blatantly paid to support certain artists, I can’t help but feel that there is some injustice going on.

Mariah Carey releases a cover song, “I Want To Know What Love Is”. According to some, she is whispering too much through the song because she has lost her voice and can never get it back. Others say that she is shrieking and howling and squeaking like an animal. Which is it? Either you are shrieking and howling, or you have lost your voice – it can’t be both. I personally think that her voice is damaged somewhat, and isn’t the same as it was as she first came out. I acknowledge that, and then I say that she is still the best female vocalist around today. This is part of the hypocrisy I am perceiving; people want to down Mariah Carey for lip-synching a few times, but when she does sing live, they criticise her for a whispery voice not like on the record / oversinging her song with too many histrionic outbursts / not being able to sing and dance at the same time. What do people want? Nobody is perfect, but Mariah Carey is possibly the closest that we have. I would like to warn Beyoncé, who is the most prominently successful young singer / songwriter / dancer / entertainer of the new era – THIS IS YOUR FUTURE. Hate no matter what you do, and the majority of people’s opinions on your album is dictated by how much media support / criticism it gains. It was decided by the media before the album even dropped that The Emancipation Of Mimi would be a smash hit / “comeback”. It was decided by the media before the album even dropped that E=MC² would not live up to The Emancipation Of Mimi either in terms of sales or in terms of quality. I happen to prefer E=MC² because I think the songs are slightly stronger, whereas I tend to skip a few of them on Mimi. I don’t have a problem with people disagreeing, but I’m just tired of stans putting one artist down for no decent reason, and criticising an album when they probably haven’t even listened to it. If you have an opinion, please back it up. I may not agree with you, but at least I will respect you.

So people are dogging Mariah Carey because she decided to cover a song. Um, “Without You” was also a cover, but nobody had a problem with her version of that 16 years ago? Also, Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” was a fantastic song that was a cover version of Dolly Parton’s original. I don’t hear anyone having a problem with that song. In fact, let’s talk about Whitney Houston. I nearly did this yesterday, but I managed to restrain myself; after reading some of the frankly retarded opinions posted on Lil’ Kim Zone, I can no longer hold my tongue. Whitney Houston’s new album is okay. I like some of the songs (“Salute” is my favourite), I think others are atrocious. Mostly, I like the ballads and dislike the uptempos. That’s fine, you can’t win ‘em all, and I know that other people are really enjoying her record. Her voice sounds good, but undeniably not how it did before (she doesn’t belt, she riffs too much). These are criticisms which, funnily enough, have been levelled at Mariah Carey. Okay. Whitney Houston’s new single “Million Dollar Bill” has peaked in the mid-70s on the Billboard Chart. Mariah Carey’s song has stayed within the Top 20 of that chart for the past 5-6 weeks. So don’t tell me that Mariah Carey is pushing her album back because she is scared of Whitney Houston; don’t tell me that her career is ‘flopping’. If you want me to quote stats, I can do: “Obsessed” has had her highest chart debut in 11 years, and its digital sales currently stand at 526,000. Whitney Houston’s newest song has sold 32,000 copies, which is about 6% of what Mariah’s single has sold. Who should be scared?

Let’s talk about songwriting. As far as I am aware, Whitney Houston has only written one song in her catalogue – the massively successful “Whatchulookinat” (that is sarcasm, by the way). Mariah Carey writes 90% of all her material – and not only is she involved in writing lyrics, but she also has a hand in creating and producing the music. Of course, because Mariah Carey’s newest song is a cover version, there have been snide comments about her not being able to hire a decent team of songwriters to write a hit for her. In actuality, this is something Mariah Carey has never done; she has never hired anybody to write her material. Songs such as “Vision Of Love”, “Dreamlover”, “Hero”, “Fantasy”, “One Sweet Day”, “Always Be My Baby”, “Heartbreaker”, “We Belong Together”, “Don’t Forget About Us”, “Touch My Body” all have songwriting credits to Mariah Carey. By the way, all those songs went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “One Sweet Day” and “We Belong Together” jointly hold the record for the longest stretch at #1, which is 16 weeks. I enjoy Mariah Carey’s music, whether it charts highly or not. I loved her Glitter album when her career was at a real low point, and I still think that “Lead The Way” and “Never Too Far” are two of her best songs and vocal performances to date. I think that Charmbracelet was a more heartfelt and personal album than The Emancipation Of Mimi, despite Mimi selling 5 times what Charmbracelet sold. I am able to have an opinion on the music which is separate from how much it sells, because what’s important to me is whether I like the damn songs and vocals and music, not how successful it is. Just because an artist isn’t constantly at the top of the charts has nothing to do with their artistic merit. However, it’s come to the point where I am quoting these statistics because certain foolish people are trying to down Mariah Carey too much, and it’s just ridiculous to me, not to mention utterly hypocritical.

Whitney Houston doesn’t write her songs. I don’t think that this matters, because a great singer doesn’t have to be a great songwriter (as Aaliyah said); if they can interpret material well, that is equivalent to making the song their own. As I said before, Houston did this with “I Will Always Love You”. But if people want to talk about songwriting prowess, Mariah Carey wins hands down. Sales-wise, both currently and in terms of their entire careers, Mariah Carey is ahead of Whitney Houston. (Barbra Streisand is the biggest selling female artist of all time.) If people want to talk about Mariah Carey not being able to sing live, then please hold your tongue until Whitney Houston sings her new single live. I have yet to hear or see her performing “Million Dollar Bill” live, and I have yet to hear or see any announcement that she is going to be doing this in the near future. Until she does this, can we stop criticising Mariah’s live performances, because whether her voice is damaged or not, the facts are that she is singing live and Whitney is not, so you can’t compare the two.

People say they have lost respect for Mariah Carey because she doesn’t dress her age (she is 39, and I see many women 10 years older than her walking around Bristol in far less, but anyway), she has had plastic surgery, she cavorts with too many rappers and doesn’t sing the way she used to. A small point: on I Look To You, two of Whitney Houston’s songs were produced by Akon, and he features on one. A larger point: Whitney Houston was a drug addict for possibly a decade or more; she raised a daughter while addicted to drugs, and god knows what else her daughter has been exposed to during Houston’s drug addiction, marriage and divorce to Bobby Brown. Mariah Carey has never done drugs, or even been reported to do drugs (yet… wait for it!); the worst vice she has is for a couple of glasses of champagne or wine. Mariah Carey didn’t raise a family under the glare of the media nor while taking cocaine. The worst that Mariah Carey has done is wear a few (debatably) ill-fitting dresses. I think that Houston and Carey are both even in terms of diva behaviour (reported, not usually substantiated, by the way) and in terms of their ability to spend money on things which appear frivolous to you and me. In my opinion (I keep repeating this) NONE OF THIS AFFECTS THEIR ABILITY TO SING OR MAKE MUSIC. But since so many people seem to go on about Mariah’s imperfections whilst forgetting about Whitney, I just wanted to do a comparison to put everything into perspective. Mariah Carey is the more successful artist in terms of sales, charts and airplay; she writes her own material whilst Houston has a team of accomplished songwriters to do so for her; Mariah Carey has never done drugs nor raised a child whilst on drugs; Whitney Houston has had a more successful film career (again, I am nothing if not fair) and dresses more conservatively.

I can’t stand the hypocrisy of people, both ill-informed stans of other artists and biased media acting on a propaganda brief. When Michael Jackson died, people conveniently forgot about his repeated child-abuse trials, and overlooked his excessive plastic surgery. Radio hadn’t played his records for years, and suddenly you can’t go a day without hearing “Man In The Mirror” or “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”, songs which radio stations in Bristol have never played. I am pleased that in his death, his music has been made more accessible to so many people, and is finally being honoured, even if it is a little too late. He was a truly legendary and fantastic performer. But I don’t see how we can suddenly excuse Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for their faults (in both cases, they have done things which are not only massively ill-advised, inconsiderate of young people, but also illegal), yet take Mariah Carey to task for wearing short skirts & low-cut dresses or for not sounding 100% perfect when she sings live or for choosing to do a cover version of a song.

I’ll say it once more: an artist’s sales, personal life, dress sense, media scandals and choice of partner / collaborator / pet should not influence whether you like their music or not. I own albums by Carey, Houston and Jackson, and none of what has happened in the past year (his death, Houston’s “comeback”, Eminem’s annoyance with Carey) has remotely affected my enjoyment of their music. Like what you like, because you like it. But if you really want to go there, and want to compare stats, then let’s compare stats. The only thing I can think of is that some people are jealous, because Mariah Carey really does seem to have it all (even though she is not perfect and her voice is not quite what it used to be; I’m not deaf.) – the body, the voice, the talent, the money, the husband, the songwriting credits behind her songs. So if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all – don’t hate; appreciate.

He might have fibbed there. Because the second video he is talking about it “Bye Bye” and that was when they got married in the Bahamas. They must’ve been dating before “Touch My Body” or else it would be some sort of Las vegas shotgun wedding, which I don’t think Mariah would do. I am going to start “speaking things into existence” for now on.

Tattooed people make friends with each other quickly. I notice this whenever I go somewhere wit

Tattooed people make friends with each other quickly. I notice this whenever I go somewhere with my tattoos exposed, especially the half sleeve on my left arm or the full coverage of my back. It’s sort of a given that we can talk to each other as if the ink gives us a key to the other person’s soul. We know all the local tattoo parlours, who does great work, who is shitty, who has the best prices. Conversations in grocery stores, malls, or Home Depots are common for strangers who may only have in common a love of body art.

Today I went to Nature’s Bin, the local organic shop I frequent, and I was wearing cropped yoga pants and a tank top. I wasn’t there more than 60 seconds before a woman shopping with her husband asked about my Kosovo tattoo. “Excuse me, what are those numbers on your arm?” she asked, without joking that they are my prison numbers as most jackasses do. “My husband saw those numbers on somebody else? What do they mean?” I was happy to oblige, since I got that tattoo specifically to explain to people why Kosovo is Serbian land. It was during the NATO bombing in 1999 when we were, as always, being blamed for killing poor, defenseless Albanians who had never harmed a Serbian fly. NATO and the United States were on the side of the Albanian majority in Kosovo, but failed to understand that they were the majority because of years of murdering native Serbs; the Turks and Tito moved Albanians into Kosovo to force stubborn Serbs off their land. Luckily, some Serbs (like my paternal grandfather’s side of the family) stayed despite constant threats and killings. Anyway, I wanted to explain to ignorant Americans why that land was so important to us, why every Serb in the world would die to save it, and why NATO and the US should stay the fuck out of it. My stock answer to people is that 1389 is the year of the Battle of Kosovo, where the Serbs resisted Ottoman invasion. We were defeated but put up a hell of a fight yet were defeated and suffered 500 years of Turkish occupation, but we do like to explain that were it not for our resistance, all of Europe would have eventually become Muslim. The Battle of Kosovo is the biggest holiday on the Serbian calendar, it is what makes Serbs Serbian. 28 June 1389 is a date recognized by ever Serb, young and old, and is commemorated in every Serbian Orthodox Church as Vidovdan.

So I gave this fellow shopper and tattooed freak the Reader’s Digest version of what my 1389 tattoo meant. Her husband said he noticed that I have a few others, and I told him that I have 18 and showed them a few others. They were impressed with the colour and quality of my work, especially the fierce Hindu goddess Kali on my back. “I just changed my name to Kali,” the woman told me. That’s pretty cool! Her husband kept asking to see my back, amazed at the detail and design. They didn’t have as much ink as I do, but they said they do want more. She had a dragonfly on her upper shoulder that was brand new, and something on her lower back; he had a Native American scene on his right arm, and some Sanskrit writing mixed in with other spiritual stuff on his left.

Of course, we talked about where we get our work done, what we want to get next, all the normal tattoo conversation. Since they live on the West Side of Cleveland they had never heard of my place, All Tattoos, which is on the East Side, but I do what I can to promote them whenever I am asked about my work. It’s the only place I’ve ever gotten tattooed, it’s clean, it’s reasonable, and I’ve never had any problems with any of my tattoos.

We probably talked for ten minutes, and it was pretty cool. I love talking about my ink, and I love to hear other people describe the symbolism behind theirs. I see lots of tattooed freaks on the West Side who are more like me, pretty well-covered and with a variety of styles. Most East Siders–with the exception of hippy-filled Coventry–have stuff like Harley logos, panthers bursting out of their calves, and lion heads. I’m not hating on anyone’s ink, but some of the shit people get is just trashy! But everyone has their own reason for getting a certain tattoo so it doesn’t matter what I think. This couple had more of the spiritual stuff that I like, though some of mine are just fun and symbolic in other ways. It’s all about expressing yourself, whether anyone else likes it or not. And that’s why there is such an unspoken bond between tattooed freaks. We know what it’s like to be questioned by non-tattooed people, we understand the process of picking out a piece of art that we want engraved on our bodies for the rest of our lives, we have all felt the same pain (though for me it’s not pain but a form of relaxation, a release of anxiety, and a therapeutic process by which I am reborn as a work of art with each new piece). We are like a secret society but one that outsiders can recognize the secret handshake of. Our body canvasses can make us the target of misunderstanding, discrimination, and fear, but more importantly they give us a deep connection to other human beings that nothing else can provide.

But please, non-tattooed vanillas, stop asking us “Did it hurt?” That just makes you sound lame.

Being an ethnic woman I have always had to deal with a lot of hair. Everywhere. Thick, coarse, dar

Being an ethnic woman I have always had to deal with a lot of hair. Everywhere. Thick, coarse, dark hair in unpleasant places. Two of my female cousins had ridiculous amounts of arm hair when we were kids, and I remember them asking their mom if they could shave it! I had a normal amount of arm hair, and a not-so-fun amount of upper lip hair. I also sort of had sideburns, but didn’t really notice them or do much about those until my early 20s and my first gay BFF shaved them for me. But the mustache was noticeable, maybe not as much to others as I thought, but I saw it as a problem around 7th grade.

I remember going into my parents’ bathroom and trying to find a way to remove my Chester the Molester ’stache. My mom had Nair which I knew was for girls who wore short shorts. I tried a bit of it on my arm hair; not sure why I did that instead of just using in on my legs, but whatever. It worked instantly! So I slathered my upper lip with the magical elixir and wiped away the hair that had so plagued my 13-year-old self-esteem. I wondered whether anyone would notice. Nobody had ever made any comments about my facial hair, but I was still self-conscious and wanted boys to like me.

But then I got a rash. Not a bad one, but it was noticeable. When questioned by my mother I, of course, was not going to admit that I used her Nair on my face, so I blew it off as acne or something. But I was panicking because now the hair was growing back in darker, thicker, uglier (so I thought). What to do? Shave, of course, just like my dad! I had a bit of hair under my lip (a sort of faint soul patch, if you will) as well. I found my mom’s Daisy razor and went to town, looking in her high-powered mirror for stray hairs that needed to be executed on the spot. That’s also why I noticed my unibrow. It wasn’t bad, really, but I couldn’t go through life looking like Borat (or at that time, I guess, Yakov Smirnoff!). So I also shaved and created two eyebrows. This routine became kind of high-maintenance, especially when we went out of town and I had to try to sneak my mom’s razor into my suitcase.

I continued to shave my mustache and unibrow until I discovered tweezers. That was heaven! I could get all Joan Crawford and examine every one of my pores and every budding hair in my face and kill it instantly! Yes, this was the new tool. I continued shaving my ’stache, but for all other facial hair it was Tweezer City.

When my first gay BFF and I started hanging out he told me that I should do something about my sideburns. I was like, “What the hell are you talking about?” Nobody had ever said anything like that to me, either as a joke or seriously. Leave it to a queen to be blunt about your flaws. This one would spend hours getting ready to go to the mall, brushing his eyebrows (after a trim, of course) with hairspray on a fucking toothbrush and measuring his own sideburns with a ruler to make sure they were perfectly symmetrical. Seriously. This bitch was crazy! And he was trying to get me to start shaving my sideburns. I was scared they would grow in darker and thicker every time, plus I already knew how much work it was to maintain that sort of thing. (This is why I don’t shave my bush, but that’s a subject for a whole other blog!) He came over one day and we went into the bathroom together. My whole family was home but I tried to hide what we were doing because it was just so fucking ridiculous. I was about 21 and this homo was shaving my face. This was one of my early experiences as a fag hag, and it showed me how your fag should take care of you, not just so you look your best but mainly so you don’t embarrass his ass!

So he took my Daisy and started to lather up my face like it’s a barber shop. He shaved them pretty much off! It looked bizarre. I mean, they were never lambchops. I wasn’t sure I liked it and I was sure my mom would say something. But I knew that I couldn’t change it. For the rest of my life, I was going to have to shave those fuckers every day or I would look like Elvis, The Vegas Years.

And I have been shaving them for all this time. In the past few years I have become more fond of my tweezers for eyebrow and mustache maintenance, and for the stray hairs on my neck and chin. But those sideburns can get pretty bushy sometimes! Oh well. Everything was cool, though I did have random thoughts about being stranded on an island or trapped in a well without access to any hair removal devices. My greatest fear has been being rescued, news cameras capturing every moment, and upon emerging from the harrowing experience tired and worn, all anyone will notice is my femmestache. It only takes a few days for it to start growing back!

A few years ago I noticed something strange on my upper lip, and it wasn’t hair. There were several small but noticeable dark patches that looked, at certain angles, like a mustache. I thought maybe there were some ingrown hairs, some dirt, but there was nothing. I would get out of the shower freshly-shaved scrubbed and these dark spots were there. What the fuck? It didn’t make much sense. I started reading up on it and the first thing I read was about the “mask of pregnancy”. Huh? I hadn’t had the opportunity to get pregnant for a very long time, so that would have been one hell of a gestation period! I bought some lightening cream and applied it every day, trying to convince myself it would work. But nothing. None of the makeup I used helped. Who was this dark devil squatting on my upper lip?

When I went tanning I covered it with a folded Kleenex. I had read that exposure to the sun may contribute to dark spots like that, and I love the sun! But I don’t lay out much anymore because of the tattoos that cover about half of my body and because I despise tan lines. I was still confused as to what was causing these spots. Maybe all the plucking and shaving over the years? The skin on the upper lip is pretty sensitive. It wasn’t getting any worse, and I wasn’t sure how noticeable it was to others, so I just dealt with it. I still walked around makeup-free most of the time.

But recently it’s looked like it’s getting darker. So I looked it up online again and again saw lots of stuff about melasma , the “mask of pregnancy”. This gestation period would have me squeezing out a three-year-old, so I knew it wasn’t that! But everything I read said that it is particularly seen in dark-skinned women who tan easily due to higher levels of melanin. It’s generally harmless, but it can make a girl feel a bit more butch than she would like to! You can get laser treatment or chemical peels and shit that may take care of it, but sometimes it’s hereditary and then you can’t do much but hope nobody notices. Ugh. I have not decided what to do. It is all I see when I look in the mirror. And I feel like it’s all anyone sees when they look at me. Luckily, my tits have gotten bigger so maybe nobody will look at my face anyway!

All of me...well, most of me, anyway!

I went to the beach today with one of my closest friends whom I had not seen for probably 8 months. We have both struggled with body image isssues. Last year I was going through a lot of drama and was incredibly stressed out–my grandmother passed away the first week of January, my great uncle passed away exactly a week later, and I started grad school during that week. I was also having ongoing problems with my then-BFF who was constantly lying (to me and many others) and cheating on his boyfriend, and that was really stressful. When I’m stressed out, I don’t eat. I LOVE FOOD! I love everything about food, so when I’m depressed and anxious I try to make myself feel worse, so I don’t eat. But it’s usually involuntary, as was the case last year; I was nauseous all the time because of the issues with my BFF (and school, but mainly my friend), and I just genuinely did not feel hungry. I stopped drinking at that time as well because it was becoming a problem. Lots of shit was going on and I felt overwhelmed. I lost about thirty pounds from June to December, but not in a healthy way. In my eyes, I looked like a fucking skeleton.

My appetite returned a few months after I broke up with my BFF. School continued to be a major stressor, but my life seemed better without certain elements like dishonest friends and my constant drinking. I wanted to gain about ten pounds; I was glad that I had lost some weight, but I lost my tits and ass along with it! After my Lenten fast ended and I could eat a non-vegan diet again, I jumped back into eating lots of cheese and bacon. And the weight returned slowly but surely. I started filling out my jeans again, and the size sevens that I had recently purchased began to feel a bit snug. So I slipped into the nines. And my bra size went back up (no complaints there!). And then I was back in the size elevens. Right now, I wear the thirteens.

I don’t care what size I wear. I know I am not overweight. I know I do not look bad. I am comfortable. But when my friend suggested going to the beach, I was like, “Uh-oh!” I knew the Victoria’s Secret bikinis I had purchased 20 pounds ago might not look the same. So I tried on one of the push-up bikinis. The bottom part looked pretty good. My ass was hot, my hips were sexy. My gut? Not so hot, not to me. I have never had a flat stomach and never wanted one. I love my curves! But I wasn’t sure if I should go out in public like this. So I tried on the top. My boobs looked amazing! But the band around the bottom squeezed in my sides and pushed down my back fat. If I had gotten a 38C instead of 36C, it may have been alright. I stared at myself for a while, bending and sitting a squeezing so I could see how I would look at every angle. No. This would not do. I pulled out the turquoise string bikini. That was better. I still wasn’t crazy about my stomach, but I did all the bending, sitting, and squeezing I had done before and it didn’t look any different. Then I said “fuck it” and threw on a coverup and waited for my friend.

When he got to my place we started talking about our bodies and what we don’t like. He had lost about ten pounds and looked really good, but still said he wasn’t going to take off his shirt at the beach. We found a secluded spot, mainly so we could go swimming without having to worry about someone steal our shit, but I’m sure it was also a little bit so we wouldn’t have to face all the eyes that would gaze upon our less-than-perfect forms. As soon as I took off my coverup I felt okay. I was still a bit self-conscious about my stomach, but it really wasn’t that big of a deal anymore. My friend was wearing swimming trunks and a t-shirt over a wifebeater. He took off the shirt and declared that the tank would stay on. I made him put lotion on so he wouldn’t burn his white skin; we are Slavic but that doesn’t mean we don’t burn! We played in the water a bit, took some pictures of each other, and then went back to our towel. Then he took his shirt off and I decided to take off my top–we were not at a nude or topless beach, but I hate tan lines and I figured we were isolated enough that it would be okay. We played in the water some more, took some more pictures, and had a lot of fun. I felt pretty good about things after seeing some of the pictures he took of me. He wasn’t happy with some of the ones I took of him, but he also realized that he does not look as bad as he thought.

After we ate dinner and he went home I uploaded some of the photos to Facebook. In the album description I wrote about how much fun we had, and then I added, “We had a lot of fun! And I don’t have a so-called perfect body, but I’m comfortable with myself so I’m wearing the bikini I bought 20 pounds ago! And what? You don’t know me, ho!” Some of the pictures we took were not very flattering, some were really good. But even the ones that I think are good are going to look shitty to someone, but I just don’t care. But the real issue was about other women (and gay men!) who struggle with body image issues. One of my Facebook friends emailed me and asked why I felt I had to justify my body the way I did, that I look great and shouldn’t feel bad about anything. It was a nice message, and it got me thinking about how what I wrote may be interpreted. I responded with the following message that pretty much sums it up:

It’s not about justifying the shape of my body in some sort of preemptive strike against those who may say that I shouldn’t wear certain things. It’s really more about those women out there who feel self-conscious about their bodies because they have weight issues or scars or some flaws that really shouldn’t prevent them from feeling good about themselves. Some of my female FB friends fit into that category, and one in particular loves that I’m confident enough to show off my body because she’s been struggling to lose a lot of weight and she can’t imagine ever wearing the things I wear. I didn’t always like my body, but I am 36 years old now and I have finally accepted myself, body, mind, and spirit, though I still do have stuff I don’t like. I rarely wear makeup anymore unless I’m going out on the town or to church or someplace, and even when I do wear it I just use it to enhance my features and cover blemishes. I want women like her to know that everyone has something they don’t like about themselves, but that it’s not that big of a deal. And that goes for guys too, especially since my friends are all gay men and they are notorious for having body image issues that contribute to drug use, eating disorders, etc. So I also wanted to let them know that they don’t have to have 6-pack abs, a perfect tan, and bright white teeth to feel good about themselves and to be desirable to others. There are gay men who won’t date anyone who’s like 5 pounds overweight, and that’s ridiculous! Being around gay men for all these years has shown me a lot of things, and it’s interesting to observe their behaviour and what they say and what they respond to. It pisses me off when I hear friends complain about their weight or their hair or other things that really don’t matter. Everyone does that, but it seems to be part of the world of gay men, it’s expected that everyone adhere to certain standards.

Anyway, I know what I don’t like about my body, but I also know that my body changes naturally and that I can also change it myself (to a certain extent). I just wanted to put that out there because I think it’s so important for women to feel good about their bodies. Being confident and comfortable in your own skin is sexy as hell, whatever you look like. I love being shapely, I love having substantial tits, hips, and ass! LOVE IT! I am not apologizing for it. More women have curves like I do than look like runway models. I love my body. I want every woman to love theirs.

Maybe I am just THAT perverted but I just LOVE sex music. It might be inappropriate, it might be politically wrong but I just love them. I am very sorry. So this is the list of my favorite sex music.

I wanna fuck you-Akon feat. Snoop Dogg

Now let’s face it, when this song came out, nobody actually sang “I wanna love you.” We all screamed out “I wanna fuck you.” And the music video? Bunch of girls(who suspiciously dance like strippers) shaking their money makers like there ain’t no tomorrow? And Snoop Dogg’s rap pretty sick and sexy too.

Put it in your mouth – Akinyele

I already wrote a little thing about this; how I am conflicted about this song. I love this song but at the same time I am thinking “damn… this song is just wrong…” But hey, the girl’s voice is pretty sexy and let’s face it, lyrics ain’t that bad either. There are just… politically wrong.

비벼대 – 드렁큰 타이거(Rub it-Drunken Tiger)

Now, this is a Korean rap. Yeah yeah I know you do not understand Korean but I do not give a fuck. Plus, the whole nuance of the music is pretty sexy. Also, you might catch a little bit of English words here and there. The lyrics is pretty sexy. Too bad you will not be able to understand.

Birthday Sex – Jeremih

I personally do not like this song so much but it is still a sex song so I might as well just put it. It is an okay song I guess. Actually, I still do not like it. Maybe it is his voice. I do not know. I just do not like this song. The whole idea of birthday sex is kinda okay I guess.

Touch My Body – Mariah Carey

I probably said before but I will say it again anyway; I love Mariah Carey. Her voice is just great. And in this song, she just added the sexiness of her voice. It is great. It is one of those songs that make you imagine being in the same bed with her(or maybe I just have great imagination). Great song.

Wetter – Twista

I like Twista. I think he is sort of under appreciated. I mean yeah he is still popular but he should be more popular than now, I think. This song came out pretty recently and let me tell you, it is sexy. The girl’s voice and his rapping plus the whole nuance of the song. They all work out pretty nicely. Great sex song.

Christina fans, you ready for GREAT news? Ok here goes, @themixologistt on twitter is mixing Christina’s album, or single, he said on his twitter:

WOW! Christina Aguilera’s new single IS DONE! DAMN, IS TOTALLY FABULOUS! I can’t wait to see it riding to to
numbah one!

I listened Aguilera’s new song about a million times, DAMN, Tricky n Claude made an AWESOME job!

All I can say now is; GET READY, CHRISTINA WILL SHOCK YOU!!!!!!

He also wrote some lyrics that I think belong to the new single, the lyrics are “You lost me since the day that you could hear another heart beat“, why do I think they’re Christina’s you ask? because the lovely SiA wrote a few weeks ago that she wrote a song with Christina called “You Lost Me”.

I personally can’t wait for the new album to be released, she’s working with Tricky Stewart and The-Dream (the genius behind Single Ladies, Umbrella, Touch My Body and most recently Mariah’s Obsessed), Ladytron, Le Tigre, and the aforementioned SiA <3. Now the single is reportedly produced by Tricky Stewart and Claude Kelly (Britney’s Shattered Glass, Kelly Clarkson’s My Life Would Suck Without You, Leona’s Forgive Me), and it’s said to be an uptempo track. Hopefully the material will be on par with that on Stripped, and not Keeps Gettin’ Better and the songs released with the Greatest Hits.

It’s amazing what a little tweet can do. Mariah Carey just announced, to many people’s amazement, that the first single off of her upcoming album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Princess is called “Obsessed” and will be released this tuesday. This is how the tweet went:

“The 1st single from my new album “Memoirs of an imperfect angel” is called “Obsessed” and will be at radio next tuesday. I’m a lil’ excited!”

The album was slated for a late September release, but that was tentative and almost every Mariah album has been pushed back before. So, to have the single hit radio (and the blogosphere inevitably) this early was somewhat of a surprise. Who knows? Maybe she is trying to give Whitney Houston a break and not release the album at the same time or maybe she is just so happy with the product that it is ready for a release. Sudden releases are good because they make a bigger impact.

This has 19th #1 single written all over it. She is saying she loves it and all the people on the album are very hot off the trends. The album is a sure-fire #1, but the question is how many singles will go to the top spot. The debut single is usually the most likely to get there. This also makes Mariah eligible for the next award season. A Grammy or two maybe?

The album is set to include this single, “Hate U” and maybe the track she penned for her critically acclaimed movie Precious. It’s called “100 Percent.” Also, it is rumored that Mariah had done a cover version of Foriegner’s epic ballad “I Want To Now What Love Is.” Carey’s no stranger to this as she has turned some big-hair rock anthems into big vocal ballads like Journey’s “Open Arms” and Def Leppard’s “Bringin’ On The Heartbreak.”

This is what The-Dream, one of the many talents on the album and the mastermind behind “Touch My Body,” had to say about the album: “I think it’s about just writing an album that includes the focus of all the hits that she’s had. She can’t take a loss; she has to do everything to the T. So it’s basically like we’re trying to make a greatest hits album without using the greatest hits.”

For Mariah to rush an album release means something. She is very excited about the project and, even as the fans didn’t anticipate a new album until 2010, the twitterati are all mega happy about the announcement:

“Seriously, this is one of my favorite songs ever. I love the whole album. I’m completely immersed in it. I can’t wait for you to hear it. LY”

I frankly cannot wait for it and look forward to centering my next compilation around the single. I hope it gets to be a big hit by the time this summer’s over. And i hope she doesn’t release a lackluster single like “Bye Bye” to kill the #1 buzz. She won’t. She’s Mariah.
