An International Medical Foundation team based at IHK has been running an HIV/AIDS programme in Namuwongo, where the hospital is located, for just over a year.

To date 6,733 people have received individual counselling and testing, of which 656 tested positive and 82 are now receiving Antiretroviral Therapy, which includes the necessary antiretroviral drugs, continuing counselling and group therapy at the clinic based at IHK.

Operational costs for this programme are subsidised by IHK and covered by a grant managed by the Civil Society Fund.

Earlier this year one of our trustees, Ruth Gracey, had the opportunity to visit Uganda and meet some of the teams working on the various projects being supported by Suubi Trust.

Touch Namuwongo is an HIV/AIDS outreach programme reaching the communities living close to International Hospital Kampala (IHK). The team provide health education, voluntary counselling and testing and for those tested positive (they get same-day results) treatment is provided at IHK. Operational costs for this programme are subsidised by IHK and covered by a grant managed by the Civil Society Fund.
