Всъщност това е новата версия на TouchFLO 3D интерфейса, но тя не е като Sense при HTC Hero, въпреки еднаквите имена. A new build of the TouchFLO 3D (Manila) interface with a new ROM adds brand new functions to the HTC Leo. One of the newest changes is the Twitter tab which comes straight from the HTC Hero which runs great and allows you to upload photos with TwicPic.

筆者不想詳細說Hero有多好.反而想跟中家分享它的方向及定位. 因為Hero所裝置的user interface是Android+HTC自家的TouchFLO 3D結合在一起.形成一個擁有雙方優點及獨特的用戶介面.同時,HTC也明白社交網站受歡迎,也加入Twitter及facebook一些特別工具給HTC Hero,同時更有設置模式工作可因應工作及不用情況去應用.正正符合User center design.

暫時HTC沒有公報亞洲推出日期,歐洲是首個推出的地區,市場反應效果不錯.筆者相信以Android的發展及Hero的成功會影響下一代智能手機的方向.值得留意.

Since the HTC Touch Diamond launched we have been conducting a long term test by using the phone every day. In short, we love this phone.

Available for free on most contracts with Orange this is a serious competitor to the iPhone and surprisingly it’s quite a bit smaller and 23 grams lighter too.

Connectivity on the HTC Touch Diamond is much more advanced than the iPhone with 7.2Mb/s HSDPA. Also included is an FM radio, WiFi and GPS (we thought a Micro SD slot would be useful to store maps without eating into the main phones memory, most GPS devices have this).

As you can see from the image the phone looks great and has a very minimalist appearance. The screen looks fantastic with colour rendering and sharpness a huge improvement on previous HTC Touch handsets we’ve seen. We loved the TouchFlo 3D control interface which brings a much more interactive method of browsing the menu than normal phones. Graphically the icons and menu screens are simply stunning.

Software wise it runs Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 which offers an excellent user experience.

El HTC Touch Diamond2, utilizando la terminología de los fabricantes de automóviles, es poco más que un restyling del HTC Touch Diamond. Los cambios que introducen son mínimos, alguno a peor, y están destinados, principalmente, a renovar la estética del terminal y mejorar, en algunos casos, la experiencia de uso.

Para empezar, lo primero que entra por los ojos, el diseño del HTC Touch Diamond 2, sufre variaciones mínimas. Se limitan a una redistribución a peor de las teclas del frontal, que ahora son más pequeñas y delgadas; la eliminación de la superficie facetada de la carcasa trasera y la inclusión de una zona táctil que ofrece un control más fino de las funciones de zoom que los gestos multitáctiles del modelo predecesor.

Este marginal cambio de diseño viene acompañado de un aumento de las dimensiones generales del HTC Touch Diamond2, que ve aumentadas sus medidas hasta los 107.9 x 53.1 x 13.7 milímetros para hacer sitio, principalmente, a la pantalla táctil de 3,2 pulgadas y 800 x 480 píxeles de resolución. Una mejora muy de agradecer y que se debería haber incluido, digan lo que digan sus creadores, desde la primera generación del terminal. Por supuesto, la pantalla sigue contando con reconocimiento de escritura y sensores automáticos de orientación y brillo.

Siguiendo con los cambios técnicos, en el HTC Touch Diamond2 desaparece la generosa memoria interna en favor de una ranura para tarjetas microSD, decisión que debería reducir el precio final del terminal y que ofrece mayor flexibilidad a los usuarios avanzados a los que va destinado este smartphone con pantalla táctil.

La batería del HTC Touch Diamond2 también cuenta con mejoras, pero a medias. Y es que, aunque tiene mayor capacidad que la utilizada en el modelo anterior, 1.100 mAh frente a 900 mAh, su autonomía en uso se reduce en media hora, siendo 5 horas el máximo tiempo de conversación que el fabricante nos asegura en condiciones ideales de uso.

Para acabar con las novedades técnicas, a mi pesar, no me queda más remedio que mencionar el cambio a peor de la cámara de fotos trasera del HTC Touch Diamond2, cuyo anabolizado sensor nos regala unos ridículos, innecesarios y marketinianos 5 megapíxles de resolución que, unido a la falta de un flash, nos garantiza unas fotos y vídeos con más ruido para regalar que las obtenidas con el modelo anterior. La cámara para videoconferencia que nadie utiliza, no sufre cambios.

Dicho esto, el HTC Touch Diamond2 sigue siendo un terminal cuatribanda GSM y bibanda 3G HSDPA a 7.2 Mbps, con Wi-Fi 802.11b/g y Bluetooth como métodos de conexión inalámbricos alternativos. También sigue contando con un puerto miniUSB que también hace las veces de salida de auriculares y un receptor GPS compatible con A-GPS.

Todo esto vendrá controlado por el insufrible Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional al que, como en ocasiones anteriores, HTC ha dotado de una interfaz de usuario propia -TouchFLO 3D- que, además de introducir algunos cambios estéticos y ofrecer un acceso más directo a la agenda de contactos en el HTC Touch Diamond2, hace todo lo que puede para que no nos encontremos con el despropósito creado por Microsoft. No siempre lo consigue.

El HTC Touch Diamond2, con un precio aún por anunciar, estará disponible en suelo europeo desde principios del segundo trimestre del año.

If HTC (TouchFLO 3D), Sony Ericsson (Xperia Panels), Samsung (TouchWiz) and Asus (Glide) can have their own customized UI apps that sit on top of Windows Mobile, so can i-mate. The idea is of course to make smartphones running Microsoft’s mobile OS easier to use for an average user.

That being said, recently we’ve spotted i-mate releasing an UI app for its line of Windows Mobile smartphones called i-mate Go, which is based on the VITO Winterface and which honestly reminds us on iPhone’s UI. Supported by a broad range of services based on Yota’s Mobile WiMAX network, the HTC MAX 4G delivers a rich multimedia and high quality telephony experience in a sleek and powerful touch screen handset. The HTC MAX 4G is slated to ship at the end of November in Russia for more than $1,000 and the company did not say when the Max 4G would be released in other territories. With Sprint´s WiMax network getting off the ground in the United States and other carriers planning to deploy 4G networks soon, it´s only a matter of time before 4G smartphones become popular in the US.

Disponible en el mercado español dentro de 15 días, HTC continúa su personal recorrido sin prisa pero sin pausa y une un nuevo terminal a su gama de táctiles digitales que tanto éxito ha tenido.

En este caso, se trata del HD, hasta ahora conocido en los mentideros como Blackstone, y, como bien bromeaba uno de los directivos de la marca, viene a corroborar el viejo mito de que el tamaño sí que importa.

En principio, la apuesta se basa, claramente, en el tamaño y la calidad de la pantalla: 3,8 pulgadas con resolución WVGA (400×800 px), con sistema TouchFLO3D; a lo cual se suman todos los parabienes del terminal con más éxito de la marca, el HTC Diamond, entre otras cosas, por su interfaz de usuario.

Sistema operativo Windows Mobile 6.1, cuatribanda, con conectividad HSUPA a 7,2 Mbps (3,5G+), WiFi y Bluetooth A2DP (estéreo) con EDR (tasa de intercambio mejorada). Cámara de 5 Mpx y una mejora sustancial de la batería, que en este caso es de 1350 mAh. El pack de venta incluye tarjeta Micro SD de 8GB.

Se comercializa con Telefónica, al menos durante los primeros meses, pero en esta ocasión dentro del mercado residencial, es decir va dirigido al público general, no al sector profesional exclusivamente y las tarifas, por tanto, se ajustan a este segmento.

To get this PDA working much better and faster with having more functions:

1- Install a better TouchFLO 3D and make everything flip how you want it to

1a- First install Manila Landscape

Manila is the alternative name for the TouchFLO 3D (TF3D) application that gives your PDA the Iphone feeling. The Manila Landscape version has functions for the Touch Pro version.

Important: before installing it go to Start – Settings – Today – Items and uncheck TouchFLO 3D to disable it temporary . This has to be done first so don’t forget!

1b- Install Flip IT

This is a modification of the GNES utility that rotates your screen using the Gsensor (gravity sensor).

Install Diamond TF3D Config

With this utility you can tweak TouchFLO 3D.

Change the settings you want and click save. Reboot to activate the new settings.

3 – Remove annoying T9 keyboard settings and word suggestions when typing text.

This one really solves a lot of problems if you like to use the keyboard a lot. Removes the anoying T9 keyboard suggestions.

Ich hatte noch so eine Subvention bei vodafone offen… und da man dort offensichtlich nicht aus dem Quark kommt mit dem XPERIA X1 und dem Treo Pro… was blieb mir denn übrig, als den Touch Diamond (mal wieder) zu nehmen? Mitleid bitte!

Allerdings hat auch vodafone die unsägliche Angewohnheit, die Windows Mobile-Geräte mit eigenen ROMs und damit der eigenen CI und Farbgebung auszustatten. Und wer das HTC Black-Theme gewöhnt ist, der bekommt schnell schlechte Laune, wenn er sein TouchFLO 3D in grauslig-blassem Weiss wiederfindet. In sofern habe ich mir dann den Abend um die Ohren geschlagen und mir angesehen, wie man das wieder zurück drehen kann.
