Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson’s attraction lies in his “naughty boy” ability to beat the rap. He says

Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson’s attraction lies in his “naughty boy” ability to beat the rap. He says outrageous things and gets away with them. He offends almost as many as he entertains, and roars right on unfazed.

On the surface, Clarkson has everything women desire: He’s a powerful celebrity, he’s outrageously wealthy, and he has a cool ride.

In fact, the only thing Jezza doesn’t have going for him is that he’s no longer single. Happily married to his manager since 1993, he now lives in the Cotswolds with his wife, Frances Catherine Cain, and their three children, Emily, Finlo and Katya.

Men We Secretly Adore

While his fashion sense and chauvinistic comments are often cited as making him unpopular with women, in a 2008 poll of 5,000 female members of an online dating website, Clarkson came third in a poll of MISAs – Men I Secretly Adore, behind Jonathan Ross and Phillip Schofield.

Characteristically, Clarkson was upset not to have come top. Clarkson has often recognised and celebrated the fact that car fanatics can be found in both sexes.

In response to the reactions he gets, Clarkson has generally and consistently dismissed his importance, stating “I enjoy this back and forth, it makes the world go round but it is just opinion” and “I don’t have any influence over what people do, I really don’t. It makes no difference what I say. Top Gear is just fluff. It’s just entertainment – people don’t listen to me.”

Comments Don’t Hurt Car Sales

On the opinion that his views are influential enough to topple car companies, he has argued that he has proof that he has had no influence. “When I said that the Ford Orion was the worst car ever it went on to become a best-selling car.” His concerted attacks have similarly done no harm to the likes of the Toyota Corolla.

On his chat show, Clarkson, he caused upset to the Welsh by placing a 3D plastic map of Wales into a microwave oven and switching it on. He later defended this by saying, “I put Wales in there because Scotland wouldn’t fit.”

On punching Piers Morgan, the editor of Daily Mirror: “Every woman asked me WHYI hit him, and every man WHERE I hit him.”

Some of Clarkson’s more robust opinions:

The Renault Espace:”probably the best of the people carriers. Not that that’s much to shout about. That’s like saying ‘Ooh good I’ve got syphilis, the BEST of the sexually transmitted diseases.’”

The Suzuki Wagon: should be avoided like unprotected sex with an Ethiopian transvestite”

Clarkson’s highway code on cyclists: “Trespassers in the motorcars domain, they do not pay road tax and therefore have no right to be on the road, some of them even believe they are going fast enough to not be an obstruction. Run them down to prove them wrong.”

Bus lanes: “I don’t understand bus lanes. Why do poor people have to get to places quicker than I do?”

Small cars: “We all know that small cars are good for us. But so is cod liver oil. And jogging. I want to drive in a Terminator, not am EM Forster novel.”

The Lotus Elise: “This car is more fun than the entire French air force crashing into a firework factory.”

The Porsche Cayenne: “Honestly, I have seen more attractive gangrenous wounds than this. It has the sex appeal of a camel with gingivitis.”

On Cars: A car can be a tool but it can also be so much more. It can be a heart-starter, it can be a drug, it can be a piece of art and it can stir your soul

I’ve been loving this song by Nevershoutnever, which contains the following arcane lyrics: ‘summer is a plumber…’ Imagine me, speeding up Oxford Road in my cream Love Wagon, my voice doing a bad imitation of Ras Dumisani pulverising the South African National Anthem with every beat. It happens. Every morning. Now I don’t know exactly what the little 18-year-old from Shitsville, USA is trying to say with it, but I’ve been thinking about it a lot.

(Something like the Love Wagon)

I thought, this is obviously a personal metaphor, but I’ll do my best:

Connotations of summer: sunlight – obviously! – carefree long hair;drunkenness; exams which C and I barely studied for and will maybe, possibly, pass; long night-time walks; music that soothes the soul and naked glorious skin.

Connotations of a plumber: sewerage; plumber crack; bad porn (the kind where the guy knocks on the door and says ‘Hi babe, I’ve come to fix your pipes!’Wakka Chakka Waaaaaaa).

So what this young man is obviously trying to say is that summer in Shitsville, USA is like a broken cistern. No that can’t be it. He’s trying to say that summer reveals its inner secret when arching under a u-bend. No. He’s intimating that summer is hot, wet and slippery…and horny. Maybe.

It makes a tad more sense as ‘Summer is a bummer…’ but that could be, um, seized upon too. Having researched it via Google and Wikipedia and written about it on a very public forum, I feel like an idiot. But then when don’t I?

LINCOLNTON – Contractions woke up Gricel Mateo a little after 4 a.m. Thursday. Less than two hours later, the Lincolnton woman gave birth in the front seat of a 1996 Toyota Corolla. “I think I waited a little too long (to go to the hospital),” she said. Pregnant with her third child, Mateo was in no hurry to rush to the hospital when her contractions started just after midnight. The pain woke her a few hours later, but she still took her time. A little before 6 a.m., a sense of urgency arose. Mateo and her boyfriend, Antonio Paulino, climbed into the car and headed to Carolinas Medical Center-Lincoln. “My boyfriend was driving and right there in the parking lot by the stop sign, and I gave birth,” said Mateo. “I was pushing in the car, but I didn’t think she was going to come out. Then I heard crying,” While Mateo was giving birth, her boyfriend was trying to get help. “We stopped at the stop sign and he was calling 911 and I was already giving birth,” said Mateo. Lincolnton Police Officer Willie Vaughn showed up on the scene and gave the couple a police escort. Vaughn was shocked to find that the baby was born before getting to the hospital, Mateo said. “He didn’t know I gave birth until he put me in that wheelchair. He was surprised too,” she said. “I just gave birth to her in the car, put her under my coat and we went to the hospital” Mateo and her daughter, Jaydie Sonia Mateo Paulino, are doing fine and should go home Saturday, Mateo said. Jaydie Paulina weighed 5 pounds 12 ounces and was 201/2 inches long. Her due date was predicted for Monday, Nov. 16. This isn’t the first time Mateo has been surprised by her baby’s arrival. During a baby shower before the birth of her first child, Mateo’s water broke. Mateo’s son, 15, and daughter, 5, are anxiously waiting to meet their new sister. Children who are not patients are not allowed to come to the hospital because of restrictions to prevent spread of swine flu. “My daughter’s waiting for her sister so I’m dying to get home,” said Mateo.

I have never seen such an outrageous and a little bit crude car advert before until i was forwarded this one this morning. So Toyota really has a sense of humour! Who would have thought it? This advert works for the Hilux but you couldn’t picture cows jumping into a Toyota Corolla? Swindon cows might though. We were driving through last weekend and there was one bull that was ever so frisky. He was humping his lady friends like he was a dog in heat.

Two quick things because I’ll forget by this weekend: 1. Coolest phone reference question ever

Two quick things because I’ll forget by this weekend:

1. Coolest phone reference question ever: An elderly woman called needing help with a crossword puzzle. “CRAP,” thinks I. I suck at those things. Then she asks me if I’ve read The Hobbit and I tell her yes. I guess 14 down was where do the hobbits live. So I told her and then we had a brief discussion of Tolkien, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings series. And now she’s going to read the four books because I made it sound interesting.

2. No one except my best friend and family will get this one. So, I’m parked in front of the mailboxes to grab my mail and what kind of car pulls up behind me but a Toyota Echo (the exact model) and it’s a powder greenish blue (just like my dearly departed Toyota Corolla). I almost cried.

On another note, I searched for 15 minutes to see if I could find a photo. Alas.

The look and feel of the sedan is extremely stylish and contemporary, with impressive huge headlamps and a “Wheels out body in” feature making it an eye catching machine. Offering an excellent power acceleration the sedan will be available in three power variant engines.

Distinctive safety features include Dual Front Airbags, front Seat Side Airbags and Roof Curtain Airbags offering safety in case of collision. ABS (Antilock Brake System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) enables the driver to maneuver the vehicle even during emergency braking, Front Ventilated Disc Brakes that de-accelerate the vehicle instantly, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control.

The Toyota Corolla is perhaps one of the best selling Toyota cars in the world. A consumer is the most happy when they can see their savings in dollar amounts. Toyotta Corolla is best known for its modern and conservative style. So now this seems to stop since the new Toyota Corolla is now longer, lower, wider, and surprisingly sporty like a Toyota Camry, all of which makes it look better. Toyotta Corolla ia a blend of both comfort and efficiency for many people.

Although, the Toyota Corolla is not the most fashionable it still has some promising feature. On the car’s outside, there are aerodynamic halogen headlamps with daytime running lights and integrated fog lamps, alternating windshield wipers, remote controlled door handles with helpful color keys, rear underbody spoilers and mudguards and 16-in wheels with full wheel covers and either P205 or 55R16 tires.

The interior houses a multi-information system that displays the outside temperature, the amount of total distance that has been traveled since starting the vehicle along with the normal speed and driving range, system for monitoring the direct tire pressure, steering system which is powered by electricity, warning lights which assists in controlling the traction and stability of the vehicle, leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio controls which has provisions for tilt/telescopic adjustments, six speakers, a CD player with playback capability which is compatible in AM/FM modes which also holds a MP3/WMA satellite radio, air conditioning system with air filter which does not employs CFC, seats which are made up of exclusive sport fabrics, a rear bench seat that can be split 60/40 and also can be down folded, a couple of auxiliary power outlets with 12 volts capacity, and a rear window defogger which is powered by electricity is durable and it comes with a timer. Instrumentations such as an optitron sport meters that has speedometer, coolant temperature along with fuel level gauges, tachometer, and a digital odometer are also provided to the car owners by Toyota Corolla in addition to a twin trip meters that can display outside temperature.

What makes a classic car? Is it a pre-war Bugatti, a ’57 Chevy, ’32 Ford or perhaps anything slather

What makes a classic car? Is it a pre-war Bugatti, a ’57 Chevy, ’32 Ford or perhaps anything slathered in British Racing Green and stuffed with a rat’s nest of Lucas electronics? But what about our automotive brethren across the Pac Rim, from the island nation most known for the Camry and Accord? There’s some deep history here such as Honda’s S600, Toyota’s 2000GT, Mazda’s Cosmo or this – Nissan’s OG “Hakosuka” Skyline spotted at the Japanese Classic Car Show held on Saturday, October 3 at Irvine, California’s Hidden Valley Park. This was the fifth anniversary of the show, which is open to any pre-1985 Japanese car. This particular PGC-10 is a 1971 model owned by Mickey Castillo. JDM urban legend says that of the handful of C-10 Skylines in the States only a few are authentic GT-R models. I really don’t care if Mickey’s car is an R because it’s chock full of sick Sonny Chiba style. Hit the jump to see more tasty morsels from JCCS.

This incredible 1969 Datsun 2000 Roadster is owned by Eric Straw and was created by Oregon’s Spriso Motorsports perhaps the preeminent Roadster resto shop in North America. This was a frame-off, acid dipped, bare metal restoration and the 16×7 Watanabe RS-8 wheels and red Lotus Elise seats just feel right on the car as for some unknown reason does the Acura Championship White paint.

But the biggest treat on this Roadster lay under hood. That pristine lump, my friends, is an SR20DET from a S13. This swap also happens to be a Spriso specialty. The T25 ball bearing turbo hangs on a custom exhaust manifold. I would say this build was unparalleled until…

I stumbled upon this 1600 Roadster sitting next to it. Another Spriso build, owned by James Standridge and this one is a 1967 ¼ (hey I’m just going by the spec sheet).

Another SR20DET. This one from an S15. The custom exhaust manifold supports a top mount turbo and this drivetrain flexes a six-speed transmission, which required a modified crossmember.

The crew at Spriso must love Watanabes as much as SR motors. Another set of RS-8s sized 16×7 front with a 25mm offset and 16×7.5 with a +6mm offset out back. The Spriso front brake conversion is a nice touch.

Within old school circles Tod Kaneko and his 1972 240Z need no introduction. Tod also has an orange 1973 510 coupe to match his Z car. The 510 has a street ported 13B and Tod has been known to time attack it with his nephew, Billy Johnson, who is becoming quite the motorsports stud in his own right.

Check the wheels. Super rare Chevlon Sports, 17×8 front and 17×9 rear. And yes, those are Porsche calipers peeking beneath the spokes. Tod upgraded the brakes on his 993 and he figured, why let the factory binders go to waste. Ziel Motorsports fabbed up the custom brackets.

The biggest treat on Tod’s Z is the L28 engine. The carbon fiber intake manifold is particularly tasty as are the TWM 42mm individual throttle bodies. Since Tod is a former engineer at Garrett this explains the Garrett prototype HKS GT3540 ball-bearing turbo. If you want to learn more about Tod’s Z as well as his 510 check out this Turbo Magazine feature.

Jojo Rumbaoa’s 1969 Corolla Sprinter is stunning with the 13×7 Compomotive three-piece wheels sitting flush on the flares.

According to the dyno sheet the hyper 2TG laid down 210hp @ 8400rpm and 140 lb-ft @6300rpm on a Mustang dynamometer. The motor has been stroked and now features a stratospheric 13.5:1 compression ratio with a ported, polished and Extrude Honed head, dual Weber 48s and TRD 320 cams.

The 1967 2000GT was Toyota’s first foray into the sports car segment. Even today the car is still stunning. Only 337 2000GTs were produced and of those only 54 vehicles made it to North America. The 6 cylinder DOHC mill threw down 150hp and the car’s $7,230 base price would be 46 Gs in today’s money provided you can find one for this price! I would so rock a 2000GT over a new Three Series (and I’m Persian!).

Check out the perfect body work on John-Paul Dagsaan’s 1970 510 . Gorgeous. I believe the wheels are from Fikse.

And here’s the motivation: a KA24DE. I like the smoothed engine bay and pinstriped firewall and classic HKS magic mushroom filter.

We’ll leave you with this TE37 Corolla. We’re not sure if this one was the best or worst thing at JCCS. The wheels are all wrong as are the Home Depot fender flares but discerning eyes may have spotted the custom dual (?!) exhaust and proper fuel cell under the boot. Our video producer, Chad Bang Shift Reynolds was using a tripod but he said this Corolla was not worthy of such polish – a statement expressed in the most endearing way.

Here’s another reason why this TE37 is eight pounds of awesome in a six pound sack. Pictured is one of Ford’s SVT superchargers but that is no mod motor underneath. This Ford blower was mated to a 1UZ-FE V8 via a custom manifold. This Corolla’s got Jungle Fever!

Obviously this build is still very much a work-in-progress and purists probably decry such a monstrosity but this is just one of the things we love about the Japanese Classic Car Show. We’ll also be posting a StreetFire.net original content video feature on the show in a few days. Stay tuned, Classic lovers.

The heart of Delhi (his counterpart Rithlal is the soul), standing at 5′5, 125 lbs, Sanjay is the proud owner of a well respected ’stache and a hands free cellphone not to mention he handles the road like Dale Earnhart … Jr.

Before he took Arvil and I around to the Delhi tourist spots today we indulged in a bit of a photo shoot. Usually pictures of this high quality are sought after by such publications as Vanity Fair, The NewYork Times and the Jewish Advocate but of course once again theseguysblog.wordpress.com did not sell out and we were able to provide you with Sanjay photos first.

Additionally, free of charge, I will be providing you with live footage of the Sanjay himself operating a luxury Toyota Corolla.

Descontrol a cuatro ruedas.

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., has reported August vehicle sales of 225,088 vehicles, up 10.5 percent over year-ago levels on a daily selling rate basis. Toyota Division passenger cars recorded an all-time, best-ever month with sales of 142,529 units, up 32.4 percent over the same period last year as the CARS program generated significant incremental sales for TMS and the industry.

“In addition to increased sales, the CARS program provided tangible benefits to consumers, dealers and industry-related businesses, as well as state and local economies, in the form of sales tax and registration income,” said Jim Lentz, president and chief operating officer for TMS. “Toyota vehicles accounted for 19.4 percent of sales within the CARS program, but we estimate CARS-related Toyota sales account for 32.1 percent of total fuel savings for the CARS program, saving customers an estimated 31 million gallons of gas and over $77.5 million in fuel spending over the next year.”

The Toyota Division posted August sales of 202,196 units, an increase of 15.2 percent over the same period last year. The Lexus Division reported August sales of 22,892 units, a decrease of 18.8 percent from the year-ago month.

Toyota Division

Toyota Division passenger cars recorded an all-time, best-ever month with sales of 142,529 units, up 32.4 percent over the same period last year. Camry and Camry Hybrid remained Toyota’s volume leader in August, and posted an all-time, best-ever month with combined monthly sales of 54,396 units, up 28.2 percent over August 2008. The Prius mid-size gas-electric hybrid posted August sales of 18,886 units, up 45.7 percent from the year-ago month. Corolla recorded sales of 43,061 units, up 51.9 percent over last August. Yaris reported sales of 4,797units for the month.

Toyota Division light trucks posted August sales of 59,667 units, down 12.1 percent from the year-ago month. Light truck sales were led by the RAV4 compact SUV with all-time best-ever sales of 18,312 units, up 47.3 percent over the same period last year. Highlander and Highlander Hybrid posted combined sales of 10,656 units, up 37.1 percent over August 2008.
Liquidation Sale Creates Used 2010 Toyota Corolla LE Opportunity Rene Isip’s Toyota of Lewisville re

Liquidation Sale Creates Used 2010 Toyota Corolla LE Opportunity

Rene Isip’s Toyota of Lewisville recently acquired 20 late-model, pre-owned 2010 Toyota LE Corollas at never seen before prices. These low mileage units were intended to be sold as part of the recent Cash for Clunkers program. However, when the direction of the government program changed and funds ran out, Toyota of Lewisville stepped in to purchase the fuel-efficient certified Corolla inventory from a liquidation sale. Now the dealership is looking to pass the savings on to you.

These Toyota Certified Used Vehicles include bumper-to-bumper coverage and options for extended warranties. Only the best of the best Toyota vehicles are chosen to be in the certified program and each certified vehicle includes a certified warranty, a 160-point inspection, a Carfax history report and options for roadside assistance.

Steve Dewitt, General Manager, said, “We acquired these units at less than market value due to the rapidly shifting economy. These Corolla’s have great accessories, great fuel economy and great prices with value pricing starting at $17,488.”

The Corolla, the best-selling car of all-time, delivers a proven track record of fuel efficiency, durability and reliability. With the leasing and financing options currently available at Toyota of Lewisville there may never be a better time to buy.

Please contact Patrick Ogbeide at 469-671-5500 for more details on current inventory while it lasts.
