Indeed there are many strategies in bringing to trafiic website. However, our most frequently used polpuler and can be categorized into three groups, namely:

1. Search engine
One source of the most sought-after is traffic from search engines. Research shows more than 90 percent of Internet users use search engines in finding information or products. Each of their average use search engines more than 30 queries per day. So, if it appears on the first page of search engines for relevant keywords, your website must have often visited. The number of search engines is in the hundreds around the world, but the largest and most widely used are Google, Yahoo and MSN. Traffic from search engines can come from two parts, the organic (free) result and the result paid. see in Figure 1.

Google was the one who determines what the website appear in the order that is based with many factors, especially the many visitors traffic.
Strategies to get traffic from organic result is often called Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

2. Other High Traffic Website
Strategy group is similar to what often happens in conventional business. If you find it difficult to bring visitors to your stores, then you will bring your merchandise into a crowded place, such as the maser, malls and other crowded center. As far as the needs of visitors adarelevansinya in place, then your item will sell.
Now in the Internet business, including high traffic websites include YouTube, EzineArticles, Friendster, facebook, Ebay and much more.

3. Direct Traffic
This is where the strategy group directly visitr come to your website without going through other websites. Some strategei included in this kategor are:
- Marketing email
- Free e-book with a link to our website
- Include a web address on business cards
- Build affiliate programs
- Offline media, such as brochures, magazine ads and the like.

Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t it seem like this Lynnhaven Parkway widening project is taking far too long to complete? I can think of at least two business that have closed because of access problems during this construction period. The Virginia Beach website indicates that 90% of the construction is completed, and landscaping is 50% complete. Supposedly the contractor is ahead of schedule. I know homeowners, and business owners close to this construction nightmare who have told me that they have seen the contractors re-do parts of this road 3 times. I would like to believe they are ahead of schedule – but I’ll wait and see.

I can only guess that the berms and landscaping are for sound deadening purposes as well as aesthetics. The bike path seems like a nice idea, but it isn’t very long. Maybe they have intentions of extending it. Time will tell. I personally think the brick pavers and all the labor involved in laying them into the narrow medians is a bit excessive. Why not just pour it with solid concrete in these narrow strips?

Key Quotes:

“It appears that exposure to ambient metals and diesel-exhaust particles in our air may lead to several respiratory symptoms for young children living in urban areas”

“These findings increase our understanding of the effects of specific pollutants from heating oil combustion and traffic on respiratory health in very young children”

“improved regulatory action directed at specific pollution sources— such as reducing residential boiler and emissions of airborne pollutants such as nickel or elemental carbon— is needed to help protect young children living in urban areas.”

A couple of weeks ago, I was on a panel that was asked the question, “Is Print Dead?”.

A couple of weeks ago, I was on a panel that was asked the question, “Is Print Dead?”. It is a leading question, filled with presumption. The answer is certainly an emphatic “no” for the multi-family space. Print revenues remain solid. Print lead production remains solid. Online traffic from print is meaningful and important and efficient (cost effective). But I saw some facts today that showed me that integrated media is stealing share from internet only players.

I took a look at ComScore data for the past year. This time last year, ComScore showed about 69% of all unique visitors going to the online only players of Rent.com, MyNewPlace.com and Apartments.com, with 31% going to integrated media players ForRent.com, ApartmentGuide.com and ApartmentFinder.com. Over the course of the past year, the shift has been continuous and somewhat dramatic. Today the mix is 61%:39% with integrated media cutting the gap significantly. Here is the chart

The details of where share went are also interesting. In the chart below, the integrated media players on on the bottom and the online only players on the top. Apartment Finder and Apartment Guide seem to be taking share from everyone else.

While we have done a ton of work with online marketing, SEO and partners – direct traffic (people typing in www.apartmentfinder.com) continues to grow as does brand natural search (people typing Apartment Finder into Google). Both of these are traffic sources that have everything to do with print.

So, while the question to the panel was “Is Print Dead”, the data seems to indicate that integrated marketing is gaining ground.

I had never been to Rome before. And not until I got there did I know what I had been missing. What a place! No city can be compared to it, culturally, historically, religiously or artistically. This means that you need at least a whole week to be able see everything. I didn’t have that, since most of my time there was spent at a conference – a very good one, by the way – but I was pleased to catch a few moments here and there to run into the city (and I was literally running) and take some photos.

Here are some night shots of the fabulous and dreadful Colosseum.

This last photo almost cost me my life… sort of. As you can see I was standing in the middle of the street. And the Italian drivers weren’t so patient with me, especially the scooterists actually. They were the most angry ones, cussing and shouting when passing by. And of course, they drove as close as they could, just to make a statement. Kind of fun…

A lot of people already know what Facebook can help them achieve, but a lot of people stop updating their Facebook page soon after they start it, because they are wondering why they haven’t got many fans. In this post, I will give you a few tips to increase the number of fans you have on Facebook.

1.Post a comment on your fan page, and let everyone know that if they become a fan, you will mail them a link to some tips, relative to your industry.

2.Join groups on Facebook that you think your target market would be interested in, and then interact with other people in that group.

3.If you are sending out emails, always include a link to your Facebook page at the bottom.

4.Choose the keywords you use in your comments carefully; Facebook and other social networking pages show up high on search engines.

5.Create a custom URL. There are applications on Facebook that let you create a custom URL for your fan page, but you can also do it for your personal profile!

6.Interact. As with any other Social Networking site, your main priority should be interacting with your prospects.

7.Email your friends telling them about your page.

8.Exchange. If you know someone else who has a Fan page, email your personal friends promoting their fan page, and then ask them to do the same with their friends.

So there you have it! If you have any other tips, please let me know about them in the comment section.

So many businesses already know the power that they can harness by joining LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a b

So many businesses already know the power that they can harness by joining LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a bit like Facebook, but completely business-orientated. People use it to connect and build rapport with potential clients, as well as with other business owners, where they can share past experiences and advice. In this post, I will give you 5 tips to improve you success on LinkedIn. So, have a read!

Add a personal touch – LinkedIn is full of businesses who just set up their profile and then expect new business to come rolling in. To a certain extent, you might get some new business, but in order to maximise your chance on LinkedIn, add a personal touch to your profile, and show other business owners and potential clients that you have actually put the effort in to create a friendly page.

Interact – As with any other social networking site, be it Facebook, Twitter or anything else, the main point of it is to interact with potential clients. Maybe say on your profile that you are happy to help anyone who is having any problems, and then when messages come through asking for advice, give it to them; for free. This will help to build a relationship with that person. Just don’t give too much advice, or they wouldn’t need to do business with you!

Profile Picture – Same as Facebook and Twitter; if you have a picture of yourself up, people will be a lot more inclined to interact with you. It always helps to have a face behind the brand.

Connections – Connect with as many people as you can. I don’t mean randomly adding people, I mean searching keywords that your ideal customer may have included in their profile, and add them. Once they have accepted, be the first to message them thanking them for accepting you, and let them know what you do.

Rapport – As with any sort of marketing, build rapport with your customer. You shouldn’t sell directly on LinkedIn, you should try and re-direct anyone who is interested to your website or blog. Make sure you build some rapport with these people first though, once they like you, they will pay more attention to the links you post.

I hope you found this helpful, and if you would like to share any other tips you may have with other readers, please feel free to leave a comment.

Site – script newsletter. When it commes to getting traffic to your location, a lot of people

Site – script newsletter.

When it commes to getting traffic to your location, a lot of people deem per clicks are the foremost and fastest way to make it take place. In this article I want to screened you why banner advertissing is more wisely & how it can help you get avail per click traffic for cheaper your merchandise.

Secret #1:

The from the word go thing you need realize thither deliver per click’s is the fact that there is a big dark side that a lot of people don’t realize is there. What you to understand is that you will always be subject the quality scorres that they have and your traffic can be shut off anytime.

Secret #2:

Banner advertising has no quality scores and you won’t take up your transportation cease off by a quality score review person who not like you. Not only that – if you a good advertiser on a site, often times the will give you deals on your prices if you continue with them long adequate.

The last phobia you force to bring about is that the more links you get off on out there and the more ads you have pointing back to site, the more valuable your becomes. That means that often times treat in kind per click sites will trust you more & you can accumulate more clicks them.

The other hiidden benefit is the fact that you can collect your sales system worked out on the banner ad conveyance & then once you start operation pay per click’s to your site, your present to peril losiing as much money because you again know your numbers better.

Generally I try to avoid political discussion, mostly because I can’t tolerate the ridiculously unintelligent, illogical “arguments” that are thrown back at me. Sometimes, though, it just all gets to be too much to hold inside, thus I must vent.

I know this is not universally true, but in my ten years of driving experience, it never seems to fail that the worst, most dangerous drivers on the road are almost always Democrats / Liberals / Leftists / Communists / Socialists / Environmentalists / etc. You can tell these people by the chaotic display of bumper stickers on their cars, shouting out their self-righteous beliefs in a colorful tapestry of “witty” slogans and cruel attack phrases.

I used to drive like an idiot (back when I myself was a Democrat, before I came to my senses): I drove too fast, I passed dangerously, I got pissed off when the traffic was too slow and “made me late”. Then I paid the price for my reckless behavior — my truck rolled three times, landed upside down, and I’ve never been so scared in my life. I thought for sure I was going to die. By some miracle, I walked away, and it taught me a good lesson.

Leftist or not, people, please, STOP DRIVING LIKE MORONS!!! I cannot stress this enough. Seriously, people, it’s not worth your life, or the life of some other innocent person on the road. Slow down, pay attention, watch where you’re going. No, the world is not out to get you; no, the traffic did not intentionally gather to slow you down and make you late for work — this is a terribly illogical thought. And since any left-wing ideology is inherently irrational, it only makes sense why these people are by far the worst offenders. No self-respecting Conservative (and I repeat myself by saying that) would put his or her own life in danger, let alone the lives of others.

Another thing that irritates me — and again something I’ve only ever seen Leftists do — is the hypocritical behavior as regards the environment. When I was going to University, while walking through the endless parking lots on the way to class, I would often pass by cars that were sitting there at idle. Yes, engine running, air conditioning blasted, polluting the environment with tailpipe emissions under the worst possible conditions (engines are least efficient at idle, so they use more gas, thus more pollution). Students would sit in their cars to read or study, blasting the a/c or heater (depending on the season), rather than going to the library or a study hall. Of course, it never failed, every car I saw like this had at least one — if not several — environmentalist bumper sticker.

“End global warming.” <–epic fail.

It is one of the most unsafe moving violations which a motorist can commit given the obvious danger to individuals within striking distance of the offending vehicle.

A recent study reveals that New York City is the most dangerous place to be a pedestrian. The study revealed that 31% of traffic fatalities in New York City involve pedestrians, more than any other city in the nation. Specifically, 317 pedestrians were killed in city traffic accidents in 2008. In New York State, 23% of fatal accidents involved pedestrians.

The report prepared by the Transportation For America, a safety advocacy group, concluded that New York misused Federal transportation monies by using only 1% of it to improve biking and walking safety.

We see many people charged with this offense in New York City. To avoid being issued a summons for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian, you should be extra careful turning particularly at crowded intersections. If an officer sees you get anywhere near a motorist, he or she is apt to issue you a ticket for this offense.

George and I went to Tucson for George’s first bicycle race on Friday. The trip there wasn’t too bad especially since my godspeed you! black emperor cd came in the mail before we left.
When we arrived to Tucson we checked into our hotel then had some glorious teriyaki burgers from carl’s jr. After that, we went to the Tucson convention center for the registration of the event (I failed to take any pictures while we were there). At the conference, I purchased a sweet Colnago hat and some Campagnolo socks. Pretty sweet. We also sampled a lot of energy bars and drinks and checked out a lot of bikes and bike parts. When we got back to the hotel, we suited up to go on a city cruise through downtown Tucson. Boy, was that fun. We jammed through a shit ton of traffic and weaved through all the lanes. A little while after we got back to rest from our ride, Nikki showed up. We then went down to walk the strip where a few bars and restaurants were located. After having a difficult time trying to decide where to eat, we decided to head over to a safeway to just buy some beer and wait for the others (Aaron, Penni, and Aaron’s brother) to arrive. On the way there, we came across a Chēba Hut, so I insisted we stop to eat there where I enjoyed their pakalolo sandwich, which has: ham, Swiss cheese and pineapple. We then finally got to safeway and bought some beer and finally headed back to our hotel room, where shortly after our arrival, the others arrived. After that, Nikki, Aaron, Penni and Alyssa went out to eat at some Mexican food joint (that I later heard wasn’t very good). George and I were getting ready for another bike ride, when suddenly, there was a gun-like explosion in our room. The explosion was so loud that it instantaneously gave me a pounding headache and left my ears ringing. While I was still flipping out about the explosion, George already had an idea of what it was, so he went directly to the source: his bicycle. He noticed that the front tube had imploded while his bike was stationary in our room. Little did we know that that event was the beginning of our troubles with that bike for the weekend. So we replace the tube, start going into the streets to meet up with the others. After talking to them and telling about the explosion, we start heading to the strip to ride some more, when suddenly, the dérailleur fails to switch gears. We pull over an try to see the problem and can’t figure it out till we start noticing that the cable had way too much tension. Finally, we loosen that cable and our problem is shortly fixed, for we left it slightly too loose for the dérailleur to properly switch gears. So we pull over again to tighten it a bit and carry on with our bike ride. When we got bak to the hotel, George worked on his bike while I spoke with my mom about our adventures. Finally, George, Aaron and I all go to bed, while the girls head out to the bars. I’ll finish the rest of the trip later. I at least covered the first night of the trip…

Get Some Mass PPV Traffic Love Injected Into Those Dead Projects.

If you’re looking for huge amounts of traffic to your sites then need to pay close attention. If you’re still struggling to get traffic to your site then something needs to be done. The most important thing that you can realize is that whatever you’re doing right now is not working. If it is working, then the next question is how do you scale this up and build the business assets that are going to last you for years and years.

You’ve heard the saying the money is in the list. With Mass PPV you really can focus on building your list of subscribers for long-term stability in an unstable online marketing community. It doesn’t matter what niche you are in or what website you want to promote. It’s time to ramp up your marketing strategies and get insane amounts of traffic to where you want.

If you are a newbie or even if you’re a seasoned pro and have been around the affiliate marketing community for a number of years, now’s the time to inject life into those projects that are dwindling on your hard drive. Give it some Mass PPV traffic love.

Even if you have no product no list, you can still make insane profits with the traffic system that we are using to rake in thousands a months.

Without traffic you have no business that’s the nature of online marketing. What we talking about here is laser targeted traffic, and getting your products and services in front of your customers.

That’s where Mass PPV comes in.

One of the great things about Mass PPV is that you can use it for any marketing campaign. Be it traffic to your CPA promotions, views on articles, landing pages or your own website.

This works really well for this building purposes, give away free e-book and capture leads that will make you money from the backend sales for months to come.

We’ve tried all the different marketing methods online over the years. We would not be smart marketers if we did not know about these Mass PPV strategies.

I personally find the Mass PPV traffic system a hidden goldmine. You can start with a really low budget and get your website in front of these people and still have a great conversion rate. I’m talking about lead capturing, list building or even using it to promote your click bank products.

If you use the SEO route than you know that time is an important factor in getting this laser targeted traffic to your site. I’m sure you have tried article marketing, hub pages, squidoo pages and social media marketing. Quite frankly, when you’re running multiple marketing campaigns aimed at different niches, who has the time to waste on these sites.

These sites are very time-consuming, not only that you’re promoting somebody else’s business being on these third-party platforms. When they pull the plug on your account like Frank Kern’s months of hard work is wasted.

Mass PPV is about set and forget it type of marketing.

I’m all about working smart not hard. The results I’ve achieved speak volumes. See them for yourself.

So if you want to work smart and your statistics are in dire need of improving. You need to be tapping into this secret traffic buying system.
Get mass PPV here.

I was driving on my way back home from the post office. I had been procrastinating going to the Post Office and finally went and got my work done.

On the way back, I reached the place where I need to turn left to get into the side lane. Except, there is a lot of traffic coming from the opposite direction.

And because there is traffic on this 4 lane road, cars get backed up to where I need to turn. A lady came to a stop right before me and gave me the “go ahead” signal.

I had no intention of going. I knew that just because she stopped didn’t mean that the cars in the other lane would stop and I wasn’t about to get into an accident.

She, surprisingly, realized that the cars in the other lane weren’t going to stop and gave me the stop sign.

“Why did she do that?,” I asked myself.

I then realized that she was watching the other lane to see when traffic cleared up and to let me know it’s safe to turn.

I couldn’t believe that was happening. I have never had a person in the opposite lane actually look out for me.

When it was safe for me to turn, she gave me the go ahead sign and I turned while I gave her the Thank you sign.

Because I finally ended my procrastination and went to the PO Box, I was rewarded with that nice lady who helped my turn.

I know it.

Living in the moderately priced Windsor Parkk neighborhood in Charlotte, NC can help you build personal wealth. Check out the following article by financial writer, Liz Pulliam Weston that highlights how among the most important decisions you can make on your way to real wealth is choosing the right neighborhood — but it’s not the neighborhood you might think.

The neighborhood you choose can have a powerful impact on how rich you become and how wealthy your children will be.

But the link between where you live and how much you’re worth may be different than you expect.
So says wealth myth buster Thomas J. Stanley in his new book, “Stop Acting Rich . . . and Start Living Like a Real Millionaire.” Stanley is on a mission to change how Americans view money, starting with the blockbuster he co-authored in 1996, “The Millionaire Next Door.”
Too many Americans are what Stanley calls “aspirational spenders” — people who spend money to make themselves look richer or more successful than they are.
But their “hyperconsumption” effectively torpedoes any chances they would have at accumulating real wealth, which typically requires spending significantly less than you earn and investing the difference.
In his latest survey of millionaire and nonmillionaire households, Stanley ranked more than 200,000 U.S. neighborhoods for wealth, then followed up by surveying select households, more than half of which were millionaires, which Stanley defines as having $1 million in investments, excluding their homes.
Here’s what Stanley found:
The neighborhood in which we live influences a lot of our spending. The more expensive the house, the bigger the mortgage tends to be, and the more we’ll spend on heating, cooling, insuring and maintaining the place.
But we also feel pressure to match our neighbors’ spending on cars, vacations, furnishings and other trappings.
The “keeping up with the Joneses” mentality means the fancier the neighborhood, the less wealth we may accumulate, Stanley said. The opposite is also true: When our surroundings are more modest, we tend to spend less, regardless of our incomes.
“The propensity to spend,” Stanley said, “is directly related to the typical home price in that neighborhood and to the price you paid for the house.”
Interestingly, most of the people Stanley surveyed who lived in $1 million-plus homes weren’t millionaires.
“They may have a big mortgage,” Stanley said. “They don’t have a lot of money.”
In fact, Stanley found that three times as many millionaires live in homes worth $300,000 or less than live in homes worth $1 million or more.
“People who have a tendency to accumulate wealth live in neighborhoods that are easy to live in,” Stanley said. “That’s a hallmark of an accumulator.”
Whom you hang out with matters. The ideal neighborhood, Stanley said, would be populated with engineers and teachers, two professions he found were associated with higher-than-expected levels of wealth accumulation.
Educators were especially good at turning sometimes below-average incomes into above-average wealth, something Stanley — a university professor for 20 years — credited to the culture in which they work. Frugality and saving for the future are valued in many teaching settings, he said, and that culture can have a profound effect.
“Work with frugal people, and you may become frugal,” he writes. “Associate with colleagues who are astute investors, and you may become wealthy one day.”
Our neighborhoods influence our kids’ future wealth accumulation, too. Stanley asked his survey respondents a simple question: Growing up, were they better off or worse off financially than most of their neighbors?
People who perceived their childhood family’s income as below the average for their neighborhood tended to become aspirational spenders and below-average wealth accumulators, Stanley said. They spent more to compensate for childhood feelings of somehow being “less than” their neighbors.
“They said things like, ‘I went to high school with kids who had a lot more money,’” Stanley said. “They’re making up for that scar.”
By contrast, those who felt their families were in the upper half of their neighborhood’s wealth hierarchy were more likely to be accumulators, rather than spenders.
“They’re not looking for ways to consume to make up for the past,” Stanley said.
Most millionaires have just one house. Many people associate a second or vacation home with having arrived. In Stanley’s surveys, though, 64% of millionaires had never owned a second home. The net worth of second-home buyers at the height of the real-estate boom was actually considerably lower: a median of about $380,000, Stanley estimated.
Houses cost a lot to run and maintain. Stanley postulates that money-savvy millionaires find one home to be enough and prefer not to pour money into a property they may not use often — or might feel pressured to use more often than they want to.
A mere recession won’t change Americans’ spending habits. Actually, this wasn’t a survey finding but is Stanley’s own assessment of the long-term impact of the Great Recession on our likelihood of accumulating wealth.
Yes, people have cut back their spending because of job losses, less access to credit and the desire to build up savings, Stanley said. But that cutback is likely to be reversed as the economy improves, he said.
“It’s not going to change the fabric of people,” Stanley said. “Our whole (economic) structure is based on hyperconsumption.”

A week back, when I asked my driver Mr. Yadav Maharaj to drive me at 6 am to the Mumbai Airport from home, he matter of fact said ‘Babu (Sir) – we will take the usual old route via Mahim… there is very less traffic that time’.

I was shell shocked. That’s when it hit me – I think of the Sea Link like a Googleesque tech nirvana – the more you travel on it, the bigger you start to dream and the faster you drive on it, the more you feel like stepping up on your own speed of growth.

Yeah, it just happens to be a bridge over water that also made life so much simpler. Mr. Yadav however thinks of it like an ‘avoidable’ cost that should be entertained only in dire straits!

The Seal Link is in trouble. On my way back from home that night, I noticed that at least 9.5 cars out of 10 were turning towards the old Mahim Road rather than taking the sea link. I am sure 9.5 of them were not residents of that route that had no alternative choice. Most of them had Yadav mindset owners inside– saving 1.5$ and sacrificing 45 minutes of their lives in their bargain. ( If you take the Sea Link, it saves you at least 45 minutes in travel time, beyond the frustration of driving on bumper to bumper traffic etc)

Can you believe the math – burn in hell for 45 minutes, but save 1.5$ ?

There has to be a way to break this mindset and introduce the Sea Link as the new way TO THINK for Indians. Screw who travels where and how. Once our people understand how to appreciate thinking BIG, they will use it in their own lives and demand the same from the companies they work for, and their government !

I think:

The Sea Link should be free on random and unannounced days – this will surely get more drivers to try their luck – and get addicted in return.

Happy hours on the Sea Link?

Loyalty points like an airline program?

If you are 4 in a car – you go free. So even lesser traffic on the road

Give me a few advertiser inserts at the toll gate and let me ride almost for free?

As I believe, the Sea Link was never about making money. It was about solving an age old horrible problem using technology, imagination and ambition! Isn’t that the only way to create value?

The more people use it, the more it will inspire them.

We need 10000 ‘Sea Links’ in India – In Politics, in Municipalities, in Hospitals, in Schools and most importantly in the Government itself…Sleepy Mantralaya – you capiche?

The Google AdWords system is an awesome concept. It is extremely well thought out and executed, and

The Google AdWords system is an awesome concept. It is extremely well thought out and executed, and consistent with all of the other ideas that have made Google the world’s number one search engine.

Google AdWords is the fastest crash course in street level direct marketing. It is an exciting and challenging skill to learn. It is like fighting a war right from your desktop. You plan, you strategize, you advance, and pull back, you watch for the critical moments to make your move, you outwit your competitor, and hopefully you come home with the thrill and sweet rewards of victory.

Google AdWords is not for everyone. It is as easy to lose money with Google Ad Words as it is to make money if you do not know what you are doing. You should not jump in and start advertising you site if you do not know what you are doing first. That would be like going into a football game without a helmet. Google AdWords is extremely fast, powerful, and exciting, and it can kill you, blow your budget, if you do not know how it works.

The object to successful advertising is to find a method of communicating your information, to as many people as possible, while keeping the cost low. If done right, Google AdWords can be the easiest way to generate traffic, and retain your profits.

If you have heard of Google AdWords you will know that it is not really a pay per click search engine, but a very powerful Google tool that can be used as an advertising template. It is said that the largest Internet based network for marketing is indeed Google. It is a global industry and is a very good way to get exposure on the Internet. If you are ever interested in the Google AdWords you can find it on just about every page that Google showcases, their ad can be found in a little rectangle by the organic search results that are free.

Mastering this challenging monster will energize your mind, excite your neurons, and invigorate your thinking. You will daydream of fresh plans and new strategies in the day and wake up with sudden Eureka moments in the night. It can become an addiction!

The basis premise of the Google AdWords realm is quite simple, the member makes their own advertisement, and then has to bid on a keyword, this key word will then trigger the next step of the process. The next step is where the appearance of the ad can be showcased, to the viewers online. A members site consists of approximately 25 words or characters, this will include spaces so be mindful, it will also allow for a description segment of up to 70 words or characters, again spaces included in the total so you must watch what you are using as description. The great thing about this feature is your site will be posted within just a few minutes of your submitting it to Google. It could even become one of the sites that are sponsored, where they will sit on the right hand column of the search engine pages.

Google’s Ad words runs a little differently than the standard pay per click programs; it is not entirely based on the bid you place on the keyword. It has other factors penciled into the equation, such as the click through rate times the cost per click. This in turn dictates what your page ranking will be in the end of the ratio. You will need a steady flow of traffic to your site prior to this method to be effective, so it is best to get a good game plan in motion.

P.S.: Here is a great tool to use with Google AdWords.

Wow. Are things going my way or what?

First I received a $20 gift card to Starbucks from my mom. It’s the thought that counts, right? Even though I’m not that into coffee and the nearest Starbucks is 30 miles away.

So I decided to take Mrs. Abyss on the trip and make a date out of it. (The gory details of that excursion are documented here.)

While there the “barista” talked me into getting a 12-pack of Starbuck’s “VIA” instant coffee. Two fancy trendy coffee drinks and some instant coffee – POOF! My gift card was shot.

The “barista” also talked me into entering their contest. I normally don’t fall for that, but this time, what the hell. I gave in. Lo’ and behold, a week later I get a phone call and I was informed I had won a prize! Woot. That never happens to me. But, like an idiot I failed to ask what I had won.

So we make the 30 mile trip to get the “prize.” Can you guess? Yep, it was three individual packets of VIA. A retail value of about $2 bucks. I figure I spent about four times that amount on gas so my prize cost me about $6.

Today at the grocery store, though, I actually won a real price. The checker asked my name and then broadcast on the store’s PA system, “Congratulations to Tom who just won $20.” I was so stunned I voided by bowels. (Woot for the “poop” tag.)

Lastly, an honorable mention for site traffic yesterday. My “Sarah Palin is a liar” post got hit by a troll and I set a new all-time traffic record. In fact, my previous record was tripled in a single day. Something seems askew with that. I think WordPress must be counting “views” as multiple visits from the same two people who were bantering in that post. Apparently visitors are not tracked by “sessions” so repeat visits keep adding up on my little stats graph. Still, I’ll take it and call it a “mini-win.”

Woot. Look at me. I’m a winner!

If you’ve ventured downtown in recent months, you are probably keenly aware of the changes mad

If you’ve ventured downtown in recent months, you are probably keenly aware of the changes made in downtown parking. With street closures and construction at nearly every turn, finding a convenient parking spot is almost as gratifying as hitting the lotto – almost. And, considering I don’t play the lotto, I’m much luckier in finding parking spots, but I digress…

A friend picked me up at work for lunch today. We decided to try a new local restaurant, so we braved the construction and street closures only to find ourselves battling the limited parking – and my recent nemesis: the “new & improved,” ever-so-difficult, and unnecessarily cumbersome parking meters.

I have wondered for some time now, whose idea these were and what in the WORLD they were thinking when they decided to replace the “old” meters with the new ones! Have you had the blessed opportunity to try them? Here’s a synopsis of the experience:

1.) Wrangle downtown traffic to parallel park into the last available spot in the metro area.

2.) Abandon vehicle & walk 1 – 5 parking spaces away (depending on the distance from the “new & improved” solar parking meter).

3.) Navigate the digital screen & insert either cash or credit card into the “new & improved” solar parking meter at double the hourly rate as the older, simpler “dinosaur” meters. ($1.00/hour).

4.) Receive paper ticket, indicating your allotted, pre-paid time to utilize the space.

5.) Return to your vehicle, 1-5 parking spaces away from the “new & improved” solar parking meter.

6.) Place paper ticket on your dashboard, in clear view for meter attendants, lest you receive a $15.00 fine for violating the “new & improved” solar parking meter system.

There are so many issues here, I’m at a loss for where to begin, but I’ll give it a whirl…

1.) Gone are the days of the “good samaritan” who deposits an extra coin in your expired meter.

2.) Good luck to the aged in our community who struggle with cell phones, computers, “self-checkouts” at Kroger and NOW the digital parking meters downtown.

3.) Two words: PAPER TICKETS. At first glance, the idea of a solar parking meter may seem like an environmentally-conscious endeavor for our fare Lexington. But… what about all those little paper tickets, with all that black ink printed on them? I’m guessing the tickets are NOT printed on recycled paper and the ink is NOT soy-based, so I’m going to make an educated guess that these “new & improved” solar parking meters are actually LESS environmentally-conscious than their older, simpler, “dinosaur” meters. If I’m wrong, PLEASE correct me – I’d REALLY LOVE to be wrong on this one!
