Trailer Park: Of Snakey Hair and Moody Teens

Percy Jackson & the Olylmpians: The Lightning Thief
You go years without seeing Medusa and then all of a sudden we get two in one week. Percy Jackson is a descendant of both mortals and greek gods, and apparently his lineage comes with some way cool powers and some fearsome villains who want to do him in (among which is Uma Thurman as the aforementioned Medusa). Based on a series of books and directed by Chris Columbus, who helmed the first two Harry Potter films, this looks like it could be some good escapist teen fun, though not quite on the same level as Harry Potter. Watch for this on February 12.

Clash of the Titans
As for Medusa number two, she is just one of the monstrosities in this remake of the 1981 film about the adventures of Perseus from Greek mythology. Most of the original film’s charm comes from the stop-motion effects by Ray Harryhausen, so it will be interesting to see how well the ideas translate to modern effects technology. The clash begins on March 26.

Remember Me
Robert Pattinson plays the tortured emo kid card once more in this drama about a young man trying to find his way. He’s really got the angry young man thing down and Lost’s Emile de Ravin makes for an appealing romantic interest. This will be out on March 12.

Letters to Juliet
A young woman played by Amanda Seyried visits the city of Verona and helps an older woman played by Vanessa Redgrave track down the love of her life. Definite chick flick appeal here, and it starts on May 7.

The Last Song
Miley Cyrus plays a teenage girl who along with her younger brother spends a summer reconnecting with her father years after her parents split up. Based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, this could be Cyrus’s chance to break away from movies that are strictly for kids. This will be out on April 2.

• The White Ribbon – German language drama set in a small German town just prior to World War I.
• Why Did I Get Married Too – Tyler Perry strikes again with this drama about four couples who meet for an annual get together and explore their relationships.
• The Yellow Handkerchief – Indie drama about a recently released convict hitching a ride with a pair of teens to get back to the woman he loves.
• Kenny Chesney 3D – 3D concert film featuring country superstar Kenny Chesney.

Trailer Trash has been up and running for a year! Happy birthday to us!

In a year we’ve built about four trailers, a couple of handcarts, a wind turbine, a two-person-trike, several wack bikes, some rocket stoves, a bike powered sound system and ran a series of ‘build your own bike‘ workshops for homeless types. And it was all research.

Reflecting back on the year, our aims seem to be moving more towards ‘intelligent use of locally sourced scrap materials to help minimise our environmental impact’… And ‘bikes are great’ of course.

Our birthday promise to ourselves is to get a bit more organised about making use of all the people who’ve said they’d love to help out down the workshop. Some kind of structure to volunteering on the various projects we’re running. We’re also interested in applying permaculture principles and techniques into how we run our ‘business’.

Although things have been a little quiet on the blog of late, that’s mainly due to a dodgy digital camera. A good chunk of time was spent on a massive post Climate Camp clean-up and stock-take.  Otherwise, we’ve been having fun with the following…

• Started a new commission for a thin but useful bike trailer, designed around a narrow passage to a back garden in Catherine Street.
• We’ve been working on the bike generators and putting a plan together for a top class ‘bike powered event / shouting machine’.
• We’ve got a ‘Cambridge Green Tech’ group up and running, who meet every week at Workshop54 to work on practical sustainable technology, get in touch if you’re interested.
• We’ve been running fairly regular, but adhoc, ‘Bring Your Own Bike Sessions‘, best way to hear about them is to either join our mailing list or our Facebook group.

The funniest story is where aliens abduct an entire trailer camp and put the white trashers in a zoo for them to observe these human have orgies and get drunk on beer.  Another one, a 15-year-old tramp has the hots for a writer in a trailer, but both are killed by her hulk of a husband, and he takes the writer’s novel and says he wrote it and become famous.  Other tawdry white trash stories happen at a Motel 6 and at the wedding.

Reminded me of Loren Beauchamp’s Sin on Wheels and Orrie Hitt’s Trailer Tramp.

This trailer is amazing in my eyes. The music, the gritty footage, the scene selection-everything. I swear, if I saw this up on the big screen I would have been in tears…and I’ve only seen a 1:30ish of a bunch of scenes spliced together. The Messenger won many honors at the Independent film festivals. I’ve been crushin hard on Ben Foster (the main character, opposite Woody Harrelson) since he was the star on the hit Disney tv show, Flash Forward. But when he played a bad guy in 3:10 to Yuma, I fell hard. Foster has evolved into this amazing actor who isn’t afraid to take risks. He is one of my favs. Check out the trailer here Oh and the girl, Samantha Morton has been nominated for 2 Oscars in the past and yet I don’t recognize her – I’ll have to move some things around on my Netflix queue and do some research.

To cap off the relentless round of parties that has been this summer is the mega line-up that is this bank holiday’s Eastern Electrics festival. Nuke ‘Em All are hosting a stage this year, with everybody’s favourite ginger Neon Skullz sure to be a highlight, alongside regulars and guest faces whilst Club Trailer Trash also helm a stage for the second year running. They’ve managed to rope in Riton (he of Modular and DFA fame) into headlining so it’s sure to be one of the best party-in-a-car-park you’ve ever graced your prescence with. The third and final stage is being put on by Neon Noise Project so honestly, what the fuck are you doing still reading this? GO BUY A TICKET NOW!

So i’ll just give you one last dose for the day, and then I’m off to bed to watch the first two episodes of the new season of Californication. As I ate my chicken fingers tossed in Frank’s Buffalo sauce, I was fortunate enough to catch an episode of a show called Sex Decoys: Love Stings. If you are not familiar with this show, you’re better off, turn away now and forget I ever said anything then I’ll be happy to fill you in. Its a reality show on Fox RC about a  middle aged woman that is 95% synthetic that runs her own private investigation agency, and she, along with her three incredibly trashy daughters Kashmir, Jasmine & Xanadu (Xanawho?), target cheating males. The mom, Sandra, chooses one of her daughters to play the role of fresh meat for the cheater and sets up a whole sting operation with the final goal of getting footage to show the suspected cheater’s wife or girlfriend.

Now I’ve seen this show before and resisted blogging about it, but this time, I just had to. The oldest daughter is a stripper, and she  doesnt want to work for the family business (the only family business she’s familiar with is the kind that involves her, one of her cousins, and her retarded uncle Leroy with a video camera) . Her mom insists on this episode, and so Kashmir sends the suspected cheater a video of her dancing around on his myspace in a bikini,  which almost made me vomit. The blind idiot suspected cheater falls for it and sets up a date with her, and when he shows up, he shows up with a gun on his waist (state of Arizona). The daughter proceeds to give the guy a lapdance (that IS her job), and gets it all on video so they can show the suspect’s girlfriend and she can scream and bitch and cry and then take him back.

Anyway, the reason I felt the need to post today was twofold. Firstly, this woman, thought it was reasonable to send her OWN DAUGHTER into a house to wait for a stranger, and he shows up with A GUN and she lets it carry on. She watched on the other side of the camera as her own daughter’s ass rubbed up against both a penis and cold hard blue steel…AT THE SAME TIME. Just listen to how that sounds… You know there’s gotta be something wrong with that. My second, and perhaps bigger qualm with tonight’s episode, is that Kashmir is DISGUSTING. She is a fat disgusting trashy slob who calls herself a stripper. Fair enough, who am I to judge, maybe some guys like seeing fat disgusting cheeseburger eating factories rolling around on stage. I don’t. But what is completely ridiculous is that they use this KFC receptacle as BAIT for a potential cheater. No word of a lie, I wouldn’t even cheat on myself with this pig. I understand some men like a big ass, but I’m sure they aren’t so keen when that big ass is attached to an even bigger gut and orangutan titties that hang down like drapes over said gut. For this reason, and this reason above all others (because there are ALOT of others), I think the show is staged. No guy who is getting laid somewhere else (aka with a girlfriend) is touching this broad. I don’t care how unattractive your girlfriend is….She can’t be worse than this. If I had to guess, I’d say that this redneck is what’s waiting for you when you get to Satan’s gates. She’s what I’d imagine hell to be like. My God, I better start being good.
