Though Jessica Alba is now a new mother, she has always been seen by critics as one of the sexiest and most stylish celebrities in Hollywood. She particularly loves filling her closets with shoes for every occasion. She has pairs and pairs of shoes from designers like Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Prada and even Steve Madden. Like most women, Jessica Alba has a flair for making sure that her feet would always be ready for whatever she goes through. Here are a couple of things that would help you out in choosing shoes that your feet would love.

1. Shop at the end of your day. This is to make sure that you get the best fit for your feet because a lot of us have feet that tend to swell during late afternoons or early evenings.

2. Try on different shoe sizes and styles. This is to make sure that you found the perfect pair of shoes that is comfortable and stylish. Make your every penny well spent.

3. Comfort over Style. This is to make sure that you would not end up with distorted muscles, blisters, knee injuries and back problems. Shoes need to be comfortable otherwise, you would not be able to have fun.

4. Choose a neutral color. This is so that you can mix and match your shoes with any given outfit and you would get your money?s worth.

5. Buy at discounted rates and prices. This would entail you to get two shoes at the price of one.

6. Choose and shop for the correct size. Do not fool yourselves by buying a shoe size that is not right for you just to up your self esteem.

Make sure you give your feet the respect and attention it deserves. After all, they are your buddies wherever you may go. The least you can do is make sure that they are treated well and comfortably by giving them the perfect pair of shoes.

Walking regularly as a form of exercise and weight loss is probably the safest and healthiest way to

Walking regularly as a form of exercise and weight loss is probably the safest and healthiest way to get in shape. We take walking for granted, but it is truly a miraculous way to get in shape quickly and easily. Walking has even been referred to as the perfect exercise. Here are just a few of the ways that setting up a walking program can benefit you.

You can begin a daily exercise routine with walking even if you are extremely out of shape.
It is very simple to do. As long as you have the right shoes and comfortable clothing, you can start walking right away.
It keeps you right in the midrange of aerobic activity. This is where fat oxidation is the most efficient. This means that you are able to burn more fat by walking than by weight lifting, running, or jumping rope.
There is very little risk of injury, compared to almost any other form of exercise. It is low impact, making it easy on the joints and skeletal system.
No special equipment is required. With the right shoes you are ready to begin your exercise routine.
If the weather is not ideal, such as rain, extreme heat, or other inclement weather, you can simply walk around in your house.
You can do it throughout the day by simply parking further away from your destination or taking a break from your daily routine and taking a twenty or thirty minute walk.

As you can see, walking is definitely as easy way to get in shape. When you combine this with a healthy diet, you will be able to lose weight and keep it off for good. Instead of taking walking for granted, get started today and burn the fat and build the muscle that will get you into shape quickly.

If you’re a golfer, you know that it is very important not only to improve your mental and physical game. You should also have good gear. Even if you are mentally prepared and have practiced for hours and hours for your game, if you don’t have the right set of golf equipment, then it will have a bad effect on your game. What is the most important golf gear that you should invest in? The top 3 are golf clubs, golf shoes and golf bags.

The most important golf equipment for is of course your golf clubs. You and your golf clubs are like partners. Your relationship is pretty much the same with the relationship of a jockey and a horse. You should get the perfect club for your size and skill. The most important things to check are the size of your hands, your height and your swing power. Always check if the size grip, the length and the shaft flexibility are comfortable for you.

You will be walking an average of 10 kilometers for an 18-hole golf course so you also need a good pair of golf shoes. It should not just be top of the line and trendy. It should also be comfortable. Before you buy, try walking wearing different shoes to see which among them are the most comfortable.

Golf bags are also important especially for those who do not have golf carts. They should choose bags with the right weight because they might hurt their shoulders when they carry very heavy bags. We all know that shoulders are very important in our swing.

CrossFit changed my life and continues to do so. Call me a kool-aid drinker if you will, but I love this stuff and participating in the level 1 certification seminar has only deepened my passion for the community and given me life long skills I hope to pass on.

If every second counts in the CrossFit Games, then every second and every penny was worth spending on the cert. The seminar was so much more than just going over the CF fundamentals. It was the embodiment of what CrossFit stands for. Instructors that are uncommonly good and what they do? Check. Efficient? Check. Possess efficacy? Check. Surrounded by excellence? Check. I could go on and on, but I’ll just end it here by saying thank you to the all-star staff: Stephan, Dave, Josh, Boz, Trish, Nadia, Rory(sp), Austin, and Drew. You are all inspirational and it was an honor to be instructed by you this weekend.

Fired up,

68.2 of the Swiss voters have rejected the popular initiative for a ban on exports of commodities, i

68.2 of the Swiss voters have rejected the popular initiative for a ban on exports of commodities, infrastructure and know how for military purposes. Only hours after being announced this result has been widely commented. Although it was clear from the beginning that the idea did not stand the slightest chance, especially not in the current crisis.

We can be glad for no less than seven reasons for this outcome.

First of all, it would not have made the world a better place. If Swiss companies do not sell their aircraft someone else will. For instance, Pilatus Aircraft will be able to deliver 25 PC-21 trainers to the United Arab Emirates.

This leads to the second argument. Highly qualified jobs will be preserved and precious know how remains in Switzerland. Even if left wing activists often say the opposite, the arms industry in general and aerospace in particular remains a high value adding and know how intensive sector. This is more than a welcome addition to a national economy confronted with a crisis.

Third, a “yes” to end exports would not have improved the image of Switzerland abroad. The contrary would have been true. Our banks have suffered enormously and have to reinvent themselves. Fortunately our aerospace and arms industry remains what it has to be: a trustworthy partner.

Fourth, far more than the directly concerned jobs would have been lost. The more a sector is specialized and high tech-oriented, the more it sustains suppliers, service providers and other activities.

A fifth risk would have been the erosion of technological know how crucial for other sectors as well. Examples are civil aerospace, civil engineering or systems and components. The Swiss industry as a whole would have suffered.

A sixth argument is the capacity of the companies to recycle themselves. Adaptations of specialized workers, what the employees of the aerospace and military industry are, are extremely difficult. All successful examples show that the time lag is extremely long.

The final and seventh argument is the capacity to innovate of the Swiss arms industry. Its products and services have always been trendsetters. If they were forced to close down, it is doubtful whether hypothetical successors will achieve the same level of reputation for long.

What do you think about the above observations? How do you see the prospects of Swiss military and civil aerospace?

Karl Hagenbach of the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus (Peru, Indiana). Hagenbach was a pioneer in big animal training. Traditionally they were trained out of fear and whipped. Hagenbach used reward based training. In 1913, the circus lost 8 elephants, 21 lions and tigers and 8 performing horses in the Wabash River flood. In June of 1918, one of the worst circus wrecks in history, 86 people died and 127 were injured when a sleeping locomotive operator crashed into the Hagenback-Wallace train. Using the catch phrase “the show must go on”, Ringling Bros. and several other circus outfits lent the troops equipment and as a result only two events were canceled.

Flutlichter: Das Bundesliga-Blog – garantiert pointiert! Vorsicht, Euphorie – die Medien feier

Flutlichter: Das Bundesliga-Blog – garantiert pointiert!

But, what has far exceeded my expectation is the level of instruction that’s being provided. These people are great at what they do. Whether it’s taking a group through a workout, or lecturing in the classroom, the team of instructors is undeniably good. Worth every penny and every second so far.

As you know, I’m in “training” (AKA: deluding myself) for a triathlon (The Spudman) on July 31, 2010 . I do not look like a porn star nor do I resemble an athlete. As a 5 year-old, however, everyone always told me I looked like Gretel from The Sound of Music… but that’s neither here nor there and doesn’t help in the fitness department.

Last Friday A, my trainer, suggested I run in Alexandria’s annual Turkey Trot — a 5 miler through parts of the city. Of course since the “new math” concept never really sunk in with my generation (which might be why we purchase milk and gas in gallons but soda in liters), I assumed 5 miles was 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). Not so. 5 miles. Ugh. And the worst part? I’ve only worked out once in the last 2 weeks… so I was in no way prepared to do anything. Oh well.

By mile 2, need to pee permeated my thoughts. Blisters, lots of dogs to avoid, and misty rain joined me on my journey (I left visiting family behind). But wait. It’s all good news: No asthma attacks! I didn’t wet myself! And the biggest accomplishment… I ran all 5 miles without stopping!!!

I know there are scores of real runners out there who are no doubt harrumphing my “triumph.” I don’t care. It was my first real race and while I can’t feel my legs right now, I finished. Imagine what I could have done if I’d actually prepared for it! OK, I realize that’s a stretch but maybe I could have shaved a minute off time. I’m not looking for miracles here.

I think there are a few 5K races I’ll do next month. Maybe (hopefully) I can improve my run time but if not, at least I know I can finish. Next stop… Burley, Idaho!

November 26, 2009

Dear Diary,

I went to my nutritionist/trainer yesterday. I was honestly scared because I haven’t been that religious about eating, and have drank a lot lately. I didn’t gain though, still at 149lbs but I did lose a bit more body fat!

Goals is to not gain over the holidays and to improve body fat. Maybe to make shakes that can last me all day (balanced, enough for 3 meals).

Also he showed me workouts for when I have no time to get to the gym.

Upperbody: Pushups! Start with a set of 15. Rest 30 seconds. Do a set of 14, rest for 30. Set of 13, rest for 30 and so on. Upper body workout in a short time!

Lowerbody: Squats! Set of single leg squats, each leg. Then wall squats. Start at a set of 15 with 30 second breaks. Work down to set of 1 as above.

Intervals: Do a set of pushups, squats, crunch, sprint. Do for 15 minutes.

I have been having a real tough go the last week. I missed my runs last week because i had 6 shifts

I have been having a real tough go the last week. I missed my runs last week because i had 6 shifts = 72 hours of work. ICK! I could have gone when i got home at night, i suppose, but when i get home at 8pm and have been out of the house since 7am, i really ust don’t feel like running. My feet are already killing me from being on them all day day at work. It didn’t help that my coach program on the nike+ was calling for me to do 3 long ones, something like an 8k and two 9ks and a short run. So basially i just didn’t do anything and then felt bad about it.

Rob made me go for a run the other night. I programed in an 8.43 and we were out for about 10k, but walked at the end. I have been having alot of foot pain. The bones hurt. the bone in the pad of my foot below my big toes, the middle of the bone on the outside f my feet. They are sore and feel sharp on the floor. I have been living in slippers on our wood floors. OUCHie ouch ouch.

I went to the gym this morning to meet my trainer at 1030 and he informed me that we train TOMORROW, not today. I instantly lost motivation. what would i do if i wasn;t with my trainer. I didn’t feel like doing anything really. I went on the elliptical to save my feet for 15, then did some planks and abs and then went on the stepper for 20 minutes and that was about all folks. I know, at least i did something, but really, I felt liek a waste. I hate doing strength work without my trainer because i don’t push myself when i am alone. Things are hard, so i don’t do as heavy weight, or do as many reps. If i am not with my trainer i feel like i am wasting time. Bad attitude! i know!

that’s my rant

sorry for that

tomorrow i will meet the trainer and punish myself for today’s poor effort!

By Siddiqu “The Personal Trainer”

Ok so we are embarking on yet another Thanksgiving holiday. This is the time of the year where all my clients seem to fall completely off! But this year can be different for you if you follow the Chicago Fit 4 Life holiday health tips. I gave you the secret to getting a six pack so trust me when I say you can still enjoy this time of year without putting on 5-10lbs that will take you all next year to work off.

CF4L Holiday Health Tips

Tip #1: Fasting – Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner is usually eaten earlier in the day because we typically are not going into work on these days. Why not just take the day completely off? By that I mean, no eating the entire day until you sit down for your holiday meal. Drink a lot of water during the day. The body can process about 700 calories at once. Excess calories tend to be stored and can turn to fat rather quickly.

Tip #2: Alcohol – Most of the time holidays fall on a weekday and we don’t have to work the next day, so we tend to indulge ourselves with that extra glass of wine or a cocktail. Wrong! Alcohol consumption quickly adds extra calories, offers little health benefits, and will leave you with unwanted pounds that will take all year to get off. Alcohol suppresses the central nervous system. When alcohol is added to a meal, less fat is burned on average which causes more fat to be stored by the body.

Tip #3: Be Active – Be active on the holiday. Start the day off with a 30 min. walk, then after dinner do another 30 min walk. This will give you one hour of cardio which can burn anywhere from 200-500 calories. It will help you offset at least your dessert for that day.

Tip #4: Holiday not Holi-month! – Just eat one dinner, one day and move on. Too many times we try to re-live Thanksgiving all the way up until Christmas. We bring Thanksgiving dinner for lunch, then go home and eat the dinner again and do this day after day until all the food has been consumed. What we don’t realize is the effect this has on our body. Thanksgiving dinner is on average 3,000 calories and 300 grams of fat. So consider cooking less food this year to cut down on the obligatory “left over” eating.

Suunto t6c Heart Rate Monitor and Fitness Trainer Watch (Black) Review

I’ve been working out 6-7 days a week for the last 15 years without a break.

I’ve owned the T6c for about 9 months now and use it 6 days a week – cardio indoor, weightlifting, road biking, and outdoor running. By reviewing the data it collects during workouts I have been able to increase my fitness level. It’s given me new insight into my workouts and more importantly an objective set of metrics.

The only issue I have is that the comfort strap that came with it broke after only 6 months. The “clip” simply broke during a workout and checking the web, it seems to be a common problem. I replaced it with the memory strap in hopes that it will have better durability. So far, so good.

Overview

Reaching your goals can be tough. It takes the right tools, knowledge, and guidance to improve with each training session. Enter the Suunto t6c heart rate monitor and fitness trainer watch, a professional-grade training tool for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing your workouts. The t6c is equipped with a bundle of valuable features, but none is more valuable than its correspondence with the included Suunto Training Manager PC software, which provides a detailed analysis of seven physiological parameters with an accuracy previously available only in sports laboratories. This analysis breaks down nearly every aspect of your training, so you can make adjustments and train more efficiently in the future.

The t6c also tracks your real-time Training Effect, a quick and accurate measurement of how hard your body is working at any given moment. By knowing your Training Effect, you’ll enjoy a more intimate understanding of your body’s workout “sweet spot,” an essential tidbit if you want to achieve your targets without setting yourself back by under- or over-training. The Training Effect works intuitively: The watch first notes the info from your personal fitness profile, and then analyzes your physiological progress and translates the data into a simple one-to-five scale. For example, if you want to improve your aerobic fitness at a moderate tempo, you should exercise until your TE meter reads between 3.0 and 3.9, two to four times per week. To improve your aerobic condition more rapidly–but without the risk of over-training–you should push yourself harder once or twice per week, so your TE meter reads 4.0 to 4.9, with a few recovery sessions in the TE 1.0 to 2.0 range. The Training Effect is relative to each individual. While a novice runner might achieve a TE of 4.0 on a four-mile jog, a professional runner might have to complete an uphill marathon to get the same reading. In other words, both runners will have to exercise hard to achieve a TE of 4.0.

The t6c includes a couple of additional features that put it above and beyond traditional heart rate monitor watches. For example, the t6c gives you a readout of your excess post-exercise oxygen consumption level (EPOC), letting you measure and adjust your training loads to ensure that your body is safely getting the most from each workout. And users will love the built-in altimeter, which lets you monitor your climbing or hill performance to know how your body will react when training at various altitudes.

Finally, the Suunto t6c offers interference-free digital ANT transmission, making it easy to pair your heart rate monitor with the included Suunto comfort belt. You can also use this secure connection to monitor your speed, distance, or cadence by pairing your Suunto t6c with an optional Suunto training pod. Training pods are small units that attach to such items as a running shoe or a bike to calculate your speed, distance, and even pedal revolutions per minute while you exercise. Pods are ideal for athletes who aren’t satisfied with half-hearted training efforts, but really want to monitor their training routines down to the last detail.

About Suunto
Suunto was founded in 1936 by outdoors man and a keen orienteering enthusiast, Tuomas Vohlonen, who had long been bothered by a problem: the inaccuracy of traditional dry compasses and their lack of steady needle operation. Being an engineer with an inventive turn of mind, he discovered and patented the production method for a much steadier needle, better readings, and a new level of accuracy. By 1950 the company was exporting compasses to over 50 countries around the world, including Canada and the United States. In 1952, Helsinki was hosting the Olympic Games, and the torches carried to light the Olympic flame were Suunto products. The next step was improving the stability and accuracy of marine compasses. The first marine compass, the Suunto K-12, was launched onto the market in 1953. In 1957, Suunto started manufacturing hypsometers, which measure the height of trees.

In the 1960s, the compass range grew further and Suunto introduced its first diving compass–initiated by the divers themselves. A British sports diver attached a Suunto compass to his wrist and found that the device also worked underwater. Thanks to his feedback and initiatives, the new business category was found. Suunto’s exports and business grew steadily and Suunto then focused on combining its strength in precision mechanics with new skills in electronics. Accuracy, reliability, and ruggedness have been Suunto’s key values from the very beginning of the company history.

Today, Suunto is a leading designer and manufacturer of sports instruments for training, diving, mountaineering, hiking, skiing, sailing, and golf. True to its roots, Suunto is today the world’s biggest compass manufacturer. Prized for their design, accuracy and dependability, Suunto sports instruments combine the aesthetics and functionality of watches with sport-specific computers that help athletes at all levels analyze and improve performance. Headquartered in Vantaa, Finland, Suunto employs more than 500 people worldwide and distributes its products to nearly 60 countries. The company is a subsidiary of Helsinki-based Amer Sports Corporation with the sister brands Wilson, Salomon, Atomic, Precor, and Mavic.
