N.B N = Narrator, H = Host (at the press conference – from the voice, it sounds like Pink Tsie

N.B N = Narrator, H = Host (at the press conference – from the voice, it sounds like Pink Tsien, the host who always interviews Super Junior when they’re in Taiwan… Shindong’s “bride”! ^^ But I’m not sure)

Narrator: Super Junior became well known all over Asia due to their song “Sorry Sorry”. SJ has now introduced a special Chinese subgroup, Super Junior M in order to enter the Chinese market. Siwon, Donghae, Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and three Chinese, Hangeng, Henry and Zhou Mi, makes up the seven members of SJM. As expected, their first mini album has swept top rankings in different charts in Taiwan.

From hearing the calls of many fans, Super Junior M came to Taiwan to hold a fan meeting. As well as this, it’s the first time all of the seven members of SJM have ever been in Taiwan together. At the press conference, the members all wore matching black suits to meet the media.

HG: This is the first time Super Junior M has been in Taiwan to introduce ourselves. Hello everybody, we are Super Junior

All: M!

RW: Hello everybody, I am Ryeowook.

Henry: Hello everybody, I am Super Junior M’s youngest member Henry. We have finally come to Taiwan, thank you all for welcoming us!

DH: Long time no see Taiwan, I am Donghae.

HG: Hello everybody, I am Super Junior M’s leader, Han Geng.

SW: Hello everybody, I’m Choi Siwon. Thank you all for attending today.

KH: Hello everybody, I am Kyuhyun. I am very happy to be here.

ZM: Hello everybody, I am Super Junior’s M Chinese member Zhou Mi.

N: To keep up the concert of their song name, Super Girl, it was unavoidable to ask the seven men who their ideal Super Girls were. As predicted, the members’ chose their fans. However, Donghae’s answer made everyone laugh.

DH: Uh, my Super Girl is a girl with a pretty forehead.

Host: Uhh… hair?

DH: No, forehead.

H: Oh forehead! So if they are ugly everywhere else, it won’t matter?

DH: It doesn’t matter!

H: So if the girl had a pretty forehead but was extremely overweight, Donghae will still say “You’re my Super Girl!”

N: To support SJM, Ariel Lin, who has filmed an MV with Donghae and Siwon before, came to the press meeting to present a gift to look after their throats/voices, “pipagao”. The host decided to create a game where the winner will get fed pipagao by Ariel Lin. Unpredictably; this caused jealousy between the members.

H: Henry! Henry managed to KO you all in one go!

HG: Henry, how come you’re not this good when we’re at home?

H: Henry close your eyes, don’t be shy!

(Ryeowook feeds Henry)

H: Hahaha, Henry that was a trick, that wasn’t Ariel Lin!

(Ariel feeds Henry)

H: Enjoy the taste of pipagao!

N: Suddenly Siwon decided to “bao liao”*. Apparently Ryeowook also likes Ariel Lin, and whenever there’s a competitor, Donghae will get jealous.

SW: Ryeowook really likes Ariel Lin.

H: Oh really? Okay, Ariel, how about you feed all three of them?

Ariel: Okay.

SW: He really likes her dramas. He watches them everyday.

H: So Ariel and Ryeowook…

(Siwon and Hangeng feeds each other)

H: … and this side has to cross arms to feed each other first. Siwon and Hangeng “cross feeds” pipagao!

(Ryeowook busy trying to eat the pipagao)

H: Ryeowook, would you like to be fed by Ariel Lin?

RW: Uh!

SW: He’s very nervous!

H: He’s very nervous?

RW: Can she (feed me) ?

H: Yes! (RW: OHHH!) No problem! Whatever you ask for, we will say yes!

N: In order to enter the Chinese market, apart from the 3 members who can speak Chinese already, the other 4 members are studying hard. Listening to Koreans speaking fluent Chinese is really admirable.

H: I want to ask, out of the 7 members, which member’s Chinese has improved the most? Maybe the translator can translate…

SW (interrupting): I think Donghae has improved a lot!

H: You understood?!

SW: We all understand Chinese!

H: You all understand! Sorry sorry sorry sorry! You all understand!

SW: We understand but cannot speak.

H: Ohhh!! So you all understand?

SW: Yes.

H: I think Siwon’s Chinese has improved a lot!

SW: No no no, we’re all the same!

H: You’re all as good as each other… but Donghae is the best?

DH: No, I do not speak Chinese well!

N: Although Donghae claims he does not speak Chinese well, at the conference, he performed a scene of wooing a girl with leader Hangeng!

DH: Hello, I’m Donghae! Do you have any free time?

HG: I’m really busy at the moment!

DH: You’re very busy? (HG: Mmmm) Uhh…

HG: I’m in a rush, do you have something to say?

DH: Uhh… give me your phone number!

HG: Cell/mobile number right? (DH: Yes!) Uhh, I don’t have a cell/mobile.

DH: You don’t have one? (HG: Yeah) I’ll buy one for you!

HG: Really?! I also don’t have a car or a house!

N: SJ-M’s humour made the originally serious conference full of a happy atmosphere, and they showed their funny and cute side to the reporters. In tomorrow’s Wan Quan Yue Le, we will show footage of the most interesting parts of SJ-M’s fan meeting in Taiwan. Fans of SJM, don’t miss out!

December 17th 2009, by Hugo Chavez President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez: M

December 17th 2009, by Hugo Chavez

President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez:

Mr. President, ladies and gentlemen, Excellencies, friends, I promise that I will not talk more than most have spoken this afternoon. Allow me an initial comment which I would have liked to make as part of the previous point which was expressed by the delegations of Brazil, China, India, and Bolivia. We were there asking to speak but it was not possible. Bolivia’s representative said, my salute of course to Comrade President Evo Morales, who is there, President of the Republic of Bolivia.

[Audience applause]

She said among other things the following, I noted it here, she said the text presented is not democratic, it is not inclusive.

I had hardly arrived and we were just sitting down when we heard the president of the previous session, the minister, saying that a document came about, but nobody knows, I’ve asked for the document, but we still don’t have it, I think nobody knows of that top secret document.

Now certainly, as the Bolivian comrade said, that is not democratic, it is not inclusive. Now, ladies and gentlemen, isn’t that just the reality of the world?

Are we in a democratic world? Is the global system inclusive? Can we hope for something democratic, inclusive from the current global system?

What we are experiencing on this planet is an imperial dictatorship, and from here we continue denouncing it. Down with imperial dictatorship! And long live the people and democracy and equality on this planet!

[Audience applause]

And what we see here is a reflection of this: Exclusion.

There is a group of countries that consider themselves superior to us in the South, to us in the Third World, to us, the underdeveloped countries, or as a great friend Eduardo Galeano says, we, the crushed countries, as if a train ran over us in history.

In light of this, it’s no surprise that there is no democracy in the world and here we are again faced with powerful evidence of global imperial dictatorship. Then two youths got up here, fortunately the enforcement officials were decent, some push around, and they collaborated right? There are many people outside, you know? Of course, they do not fit in this room, they are too many people. I’ve read in the news that there were some arrests, some intense protests, there in the streets of Copenhagen, and I salute all those people out there, most of them youth.

[Audience applause]

Of course young people are concerned, I think rightly much more than we are, for the future of the world. We have – most of us here – the sun on our backs, and they have to face the sun and are very worried.

One could say, Mr. President, that a spectre is haunting Copenhagen, to paraphrase Karl Marx, the great Karl Marx, a spectre is haunting the streets of Copenhagen, and I think that spectre walks silently through this room, walking around among us, through the halls, out below, it rises, this spectre is a terrible spectre almost nobody wants to mention it: Capitalism is the spectre, almost nobody wants to mention it.

[Audience applause]

It’s capitalism, the people roar, out there, hear them.

I have been reading some of the slogans painted on the streets, and I think those slogans of these youngsters, some of which I heard when I was young, and of the young woman there, two of which I noted. You can hear among others, two powerful slogans. One: Don’t change the climate, change the system.

[Audience applause]

And I take it onboard for us. Let’s not change the climate, let’s change the system! And consequently we will begin to save the planet. Capitalism is a destructive development model that is putting an end to life; it threatens to put a definitive end to the human species.

And another slogan calls for reflection. It is very in tune with the banking crisis that swept the world and still affects it, and of how the rich northern countries gave aid to bankers and the big banks. The U.S. alone gave, well, I lost the figure, but it is astronomical, to save the banks. They say in the streets the following: If the climate were a bank it would have been saved already.

[Audience applause]

And I think that’s true. If the climate were one of the biggest capitalist banks, the rich governments would have saved it.

I think Obama has not arrived. He received the Nobel Peace Prize almost the same day that he sent 30 thousand soldiers to kill more innocents in Afghanistan, and now he comes to stand here with the Nobel Peace Prize, the president of the United States.

But the United States has the machinery to make money, to make dollars, and has saved, well, they believe they have saved the banks and the capitalist system.
Well, this is a side comment that I wanted to make previously. We were raising our hand to accompany Brazil, India, Bolivia, China, in their interesting position that Venezuela and the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance firmly share. But hey, they didn’t let us speak, so do not count these minutes please, Mr. President.

[Audience applause]

Look, over there I met, I had the pleasure of meeting this French author Hervé Kempf. Recommending this book, I recommend it, it is available in Spanish – there is Hervé – its also in French, and surely in English, How the Rich are Destroying the Planet. Hervé Kempf: How the Rich are Destroying the Planet. This is what Christ said: it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. This is what our lord Christ said.

[Audience applause]

The rich are destroying the planet. Do they think the can go to another when they destroy this one? Do they have plans to go to another planet? So far there is none on the horizon of the galaxy.

This book has just reached me, Ignacio Ramonet gave it to me, and he is also around somewhere in this room. Finishing the prologue or the preamble this phrase is very important, Kempf says the following, I’ll read it:

“We can not reduce global material consumption if we don’t make the powerful go down several levels, and if we don’t combat inequality. It is necessary that to the ecological principle that is so useful at the time of becoming conscious, ‘think globally and act locally,’ we add the principle that the situation imposes: ‘Consume less and share better.’”

I think it is good advice that this French author Hervé Kempf gives us.

[Audience applause]

Well then, Mr. President, climate change is undoubtedly the most devastating environmental problem of this century. Floods, droughts, severe storms, hurricanes, melting ice caps, rise in mean sea levels, ocean acidification and heat waves, all of that sharpens the impact of global crisis besetting us.

Current human activity exceeds the threshold of sustainability, endangering life on the planet, but also in this we are profoundly unequal.

I want to recall: the 500 million richest people, 500 million, this is seven percent, seven percent, seven percent of the world’s population. This seven percent is responsible, these 500 million richest people are responsible for 50 percent of emissions, while the poorest 50 percent accounts for only seven percent of emissions.

So it strikes me as a bit strange to put the United States and China at the same level. The United States has just, well; it will soon reach 300 million people. China has nearly five times the U.S. population. The United Status consumes more than 20 million barrels of oil a day, China only reaches 5-6 million barrels a day, you can’t ask the same of the United States and China.

There are issues to discuss, hopefully we the heads of states and governments can sit down and discuss the truth, the truth about these issues.

So, Mr. President, 60 percent of the planet’s ecosystems are damaged, 20 percent of the earth’s crust is degraded, we have been impassive witnesses to deforestation, land conversion, desertification, deterioration of fresh water systems, overexploitation of marine resources, pollution and loss of biodiversity.

The overuse of the land exceeds by 30 percent the capacity to regenerate it. The planet is losing what the technicians call the ability to regulate itself; the planet is losing this. Every day more waste than can be processed is released. The survival of our species hammers in the consciousness of humanity. Despite the urgency, it has taken two years of negotiations for a second commitment period under the Kyoto Protocol, and we attend this event without any real and meaningful agreement.

And indeed, on the text that comes from out of the blue, as some have called it, Venezuela says, and the ALBA countries, the Bolivarian Alliance say that we will not accept, since then we’ve said it, any other texts that do not come from working groups under the Kyoto Protocol and the Convention. They are the legitimate texts that we have been discussing so intensely over the years.

[Audience applause]

And in these last few hours, I believe you have not slept, plus you have not eaten, you have not slept. It does not seem logical to me to come out now with a document from scratch, as you say.

The scientifically substantiated objective of reducing the emission of polluting gases and achieving an agreement on long-term cooperation clearly, today at this time, has apparently failed, for now.

What is the reason? We have no doubt.

The reason is the irresponsible attitude and lack of political will from the most powerful nations on the planet. No one should feel offended, I recall the great José Gervasio Artigas when he said: “With the truth, I neither offend nor fear.” But it is actually an irresponsible attitude of positions, of reversals, of exclusions, of elitist management of a problem that belongs to everyone and that we can only solve together.

The political conservatism and selfishness of the largest consumers, of the richest countries shows high insensitivity and lack of solidarity with the poor, the hungry, and the most vulnerable to disease, to natural disasters. Mr. President, a new and single agreement is essential, applicable to absolutely unequal parties, according to the magnitude of their contributions and economic, financial and technological capabilities and based on unconditional respect for the principles contained in the Convention.

Developed countries should set binding, clear and concrete commitments for the substantial reduction of their emissions and assume obligations of financial and technological assistance to poor countries to cope with the destructive dangers of climate change. In this respect, the uniqueness of island states and least developed countries should be fully recognized.

Mr. President, climate change is not the only problem facing humanity today. Other scourges and injustices beset us, the gap between rich and poor countries has continued to grow, despite all the millennium goals, the Monterrey financing summit, at all these summits as the President of Senegal said here, revealing a great truth, there are promises and unfulfilled promises and the world continues its destructive march.

The total income of the 500 richest individuals in the world is greater than the income of the 416 million poorest people. The 2.8 billion people living in poverty on less than $2 per day, representing 40 per percent of the global population, receive only 5 percent of world income.

Today each year about 9.2 million children die before reaching their fifth year and 99.9 percent of these deaths occur in poorer countries.

Infant mortality is 47 deaths per thousand live births, but is only 5 per thousand in rich countries. Life expectancy on the planet is 67 years, in rich countries it is 79, while in some poor nations is only 40 years.

Additionally, there are 1.1 billion people without access to drinking water, 2.6 billion without sanitation services, over 800 million illiterate and 1.02 billion hungry people, that’s the global scenario.

Now the cause, what is the cause?

Let’s talk about the cause, let’s not evade responsibilities, and let’s not evade the depth of this problem. The cause, undoubtedly, I return to the theme of this whole disastrous panorama, is the destructive metabolic system of capital and its embodied model: Capitalism.

Here’s a quote that I want to read briefly, from that great liberation theologian Leonardo Boff, as we know a Brazilian, our American. Leonardo Boff says on this subject as follows:

“What is the cause? Ah, the cause is the dream of seeking happiness through material accumulation and of endless progress, using for this science and technology with which they can exploit without limits all the resources of the earth.”

And he cites here Charles Darwin and his “natural selection”, the survival of the fittest, but we know that the strongest survive over the ashes of the weakest.

Jean Jacques Rousseau, we must always remember, said that between the strong and the weak, freedom is oppressed. That’s why the Empire speaks of freedom; it’s the freedom to oppress, to invade, to kill, to annihilate, and to exploit. That is their freedom, and Rousseau adds this saving phrase: “Only the law liberates.”

There are countries that are hoping that no document comes out of here precisely because they do not want a law, do not want a standard, because the absence of these norms allows them to play at their exploitative freedom, their crushing freedom.

We must make an effort and pressure here and in the streets, so that a commitment comes out of here, a document that commits the most powerful countries on earth.

[Audience applause]

Well, Mr. President, Leonardo Boff asks… Have you met Boff? I do not know whether Leonardo might come, I met him recently in Paraguay, we’ve always read him.

Can a finite earth support an infinite project? The thesis of capitalism, infinite development, is a destructive pattern, let’s face it.

Then Boff asks us, what might we expect from Copenhagen? At least this simple confession: We can not continue like this. And a simple proposition: Let’s change course. Let’s do it, but without cynicism, without lies, without double agendas, no documents out of the blue, with the truth out in the open.

How long, we ask from Venezuela, Mr. President, ladies and gentlemen, how long are we going to allow such injustices and inequalities? How long are we going to tolerate the current international economic order and prevailing market mechanisms? How long are we going to allow huge epidemics like HIV/AIDS to ravage entire populations? How long are we going to allow the hungry to not eat or to be able to feed their own children? How long are we going to allow millions of children to die from curable diseases? How long will we allow armed conflicts to massacre millions of innocent human beings in order for the powerful to seize the resources of other peoples?

Cease the aggressions and the wars! We the peoples of the world ask of the empires, to those who try to continue dominating the world and exploiting us.
No more imperial military bases or military coups! Let’s build a more just and equitable economic and social order, let’s eradicate poverty, let’s immediately stop the high emission levels, let’s stop environmental degradation and avoid the great catastrophe of climate change, let’s integrate ourselves into the noble goal of everyone being more free and united.

Mr. President, almost two centuries ago, a universal Venezuelan, a liberator of nations and precursor of consciences left to posterity a full-willed maxim: “If nature opposes us, let’s fight against it and make it obey us.” That was Simón Bolívar, the Liberator.

From Bolivarian Venezuela, where a day like today some ten years ago, ten years exactly, we experienced the biggest climate tragedy in our history (the Vargas tragedy it is called), from this Venezuela whose revolution tries to win justice for all people, we say it is only possible through the path of socialism!

Socialism, the other spectre Karl Marx spoke about, which walks here too, rather it is like a counter-spectre. Socialism, this is the direction, this is the path to save the planet, I don’t have the least doubt. Capitalism is the road to hell, to the destruction of the world. We say this from Venezuela, which because of socialism faces threats from the U.S. Empire.

From the countries that comprise ALBA, the Bolivarian Alliance, we call, and I want to, with respect, but from my soul, call in the name of many on this planet, we say to governments and peoples of the Earth, to paraphrase Simón Bolívar, the Liberator: If the destructive nature of capitalism opposes us, let’s fight against it and make it obey us, let’s not wait idly by for the death of humanity.

History calls on us to unite and to fight.

If capitalism resists, we are obliged to take up a battle against capitalism and open the way for the salvation of the human species. It’s up to us, raising the banners of Christ, Mohammed, equality, love, justice, humanity, the true and most profound humanism. If we don’t do it, the most wonderful creation of the universe, the human being, will disappear, it will disappear.

This planet is billions of years old, and this planet existed for billions of years without us, the human species, i.e. it doesn’t need us to exist. Now, without the Earth we will not exist, and we are destroying Pachamama as Evo says, as our indigenous brothers from South America say.

Finally, Mr. President, and to finish, let’s listen to Fidel Castro when he said: “One species is in danger of extinction: Humanity.”

Let’s listen to Rosa Luxemburg when she said: “Socialism or Barbarism.”

Let us listen to Christ the Redeemer when he said: “Blessed are the poor for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Mr. President, ladies and gentlemen, we are capable of not making this Earth the tomb of humanity. Let us make this earth a heaven, a heaven of life, of peace, peace and brotherhood for all humanity, for the human species.

Mr. President, ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much and enjoy your meal.

Lee Hyukjae is an embarrassing name
Eunhyuk: There was once, when I stayed in the hospital, it was very embarrassing. At that time, I broke my right finger bone and had to stay in the hospital, and after being discharged, it was time for the follow up checkup. I took a number and sat there waiting, and the longer I waited the more awkward it became. No matter what, I am an artiste, and even if I was wearing a cap, I was in no shape to be seen sitting there. And when they call your number, they usually call your real name, when I stood up it was even more embarrassing, everyone was looking at me.
Leeteuk: It must be you feeling that way.
Eunhyuk: No, really, they were looking at me, and some children that knew my real name were able to recognize me. So this name of mine has given me a lot of problems, even before debut.
Leeteuk: You feel you’re very popular?
Eunhyuk: No… There is an artiste with the same name as me, so…
Leeteuk: Oh, Lee Hyukjae sunbae makes you feel embarrassed?
Eunhyuk: No… This name is too popular, so it is embarrassing because everyone can recognize me. This name, Lee Hyukjae, is not embarrassing at all.
Kimchi Fried Rice is Embarassing
Eunhyuk: When I was young, and the school had any activities, if my parents had something on and were unable to attend, I would always be very sad.
Leeteuk: The younger we are, the more we are like this. When I was in kindergarten and we went for outings, the other children’s parents would come along, but for me, it was my grandmother that went. At that time, I was really very envious.
Eunhyuk: When I was in kindergarten and we went for outings, everyone would bring kimbap, I was the only one that brought Kimchi Fried Rice. Kimchi fried rice might taste better, but because I was different from the others, my young heart felt that it was very embarrassing, so I didn’t even dare to open my lunch box.
Leeteuk: When I was young, my friends’ families would have their own cars. “My family has this car, what car does your family have?” My family and my friend’s family got ready to drive up to Bukhan Mountain to have fun, and my friend’s family car was a high end saloon car. My family’s car was just a normal car. At that time, I was so embarrassed that I didn’t feel like going, and because of me, my father couldn’t concentrate on driving. When I grew up, I felt that it was no big deal.
Eunhyuk: Yeah, after we grow up, it’s not a big deal.

Eunteuk’s dream blind date
Eunhyuk: Leeteuk, if you were to go on a blind date, what kind of clothes would you want the girl to wear?
Leeteuk: There are two kinds that are the best, casual or formal…
Eunhyuk: I also like casual wear, a simple ladies top with jeans is the best, or a silk dress.
Leeteuk: That’s right, that’s right, it shows that they are cute and like a model student, neat and tidy.
Eunhyuk: I like those that have their hair tied up, but not in the neat way, it’s those that have loose hairs left at the bottom.
Leeteuk: If you were to go out on a date, between the two of you, who would pay the bill?
Eunhyuk: Erm….. I would pay the bill, but if she insists on paying, I would not stop her.
Leeteuk: I would pay for everything.
Eunhyuk: What if she says she wants to pay the bill?
Leeteuk: Then I would agree in the beginning, and after I’ve finished eating, I would secretly go and pay the bill. If she asks me why did I pay first, I would say this is too cheap, so in future, you can treat me to something more expensive.
Eunhyuk: Anyway, you wouldn’t even let her pay a single cent? What if you became bankrupt in the future?
Leeteuk: Then I’d break up……

A Notary Public is a public officer. They are commissioned by a government authority. The Departmen

A Notary Public is a public officer. They are commissioned by a government authority. The Department of State, New York Secretary of State appoints Notaries to a 4 year commission. A Mobile Notary Public or a Traveling Notary is just a Notary who like a visiting doctor will travel to your home or place of business to take care of your notary needs.

Mobile notary public performs the same service as the notary you’ll find at your local bank or Kinko’s store. Mobile notaries can provide higher level of personalized services that you can’t get at your bank. For instance if you need a Power of Attorney or your pension notarized and you’re in a hospital or home bound, a mobile notary public will be the person to call.

Not only do mobile/traveling notaries provide personalized notary service, they are available during hours when most notary businesses have closed for the day. Some mobile notaries work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are always available to service your notary needs.

Since the mobile notary is traveling to you, they will charge you an additional fee for traveling. The fee the notary will charge varies according to the notary service area. If the notary has to travel far the price will be higher than for someone who is close by. Some notaries will only work a fixed area such as Lower Manhattan, SOHO, NOHO, Battery Park or certain counties, like Kings, Queens, Nassau or Suffolk. Also, the notary may have special fee rates for going to a hospital, jail or airport. They may also have a special rate for traveling after a certain hour or late at night.

A Notary can also perform special services called Apostille processing. An Apostille document is one prepared to conform to the standards of the Hague Convention. Documents prepared in this manner are acceptable for use in countries that are signatories of the 1961 Hague Convention.

If a country was not a signatory to the 1961 Hague Convention then the document will have to be taken to the consulate of the foreign country to certify it for use in their country.

A notary can do other services such sign a Will, marry, if the state law allows, and witness the signing of mortgages. Notaries who sign mortgages are called Notary Signing Agent.

A Notary Signing Agent is a Notary Public who specializes in signing various types of mortgage loans, such as Purchase, Refinance, Reverse Mortgage, Consolidation, Extension and Modification Agreement. When a Notary passes a test demonstrating the knowledge of various papers that make up a mortgage loan, he is called a Certified Notary Signing Agent. Mortgage witness signing Notaries are also required to have a background check, some state require a background check as a requirement to become a notary. In addition some title companies, banks, etc require the notary to have Error and Omission Insurance. This insurance is to protect the borrower in case the notary makes an error.

Notary Signing Agents get their work assignments from title companies, banks, escrow companies, loan modification companies and settlement companies.

If you’re looking for a mobile/traveling notary, you can search Google for one. Use your town name, city or zip code you require notary service in & the type of service you require. (e.g. “Copiague notary public” or “11726 Notary”

I have a story…as promised from yesterday’s blog. A couple of weekends ago I was getting frustrated because I still have not received my degree from the community college that I graduated from in June and they told me that I would get it four months after the completion of my classes; it has now been six months. I was looking through paperwork from the school and I decided that I should look at my transcript online to make sure that I actually did get the degree I thought that I applied for. Sure enough, my degree was posted, and even better, it was posted as a direct transfer degree. This means that when my classes got transferred to PLU I wouldn’t have to take any general university requirements. Unfortunately, for some reason PLU did not have me listed as having a direct transfer degree and they told me that I had to take 5 more classes. So I was already registered to take a class during J-term for one of the requirements to get it out of the way and I was so excited when I found out I didn’t have to take it. To make a long story short, I carried out so much correspondance with the school that pretty much went as follows: SPSCC sent my transcripts before my degree was posted so I would have to request a new official transcript, I did this and the school still has not received it (one frustrating thing), in the place of the class I am taking I was going to take a phsychology class so that I could get a minor but they were all full (pretty much a lose-lose situation there), if I did drop the class and the school received my transcript I could do two things: pay $450 for food and not take a class but just work or pay $200 for the late fee to cancel my room and stay home for an extra month and not work (also a lose-lose situation). There has been so much fuss and stress over this (and I am sure there is so much to the story I have left out as I have been dealing with this for the last 2+ weeks) that I just decided to keep the class because J-term tuition is free, I could still work, and then when PLU gets my transcript I would be fine and I would gain some new knowledge from the philosophy class that I am taking (I am trying to look at the silver lining). SOOOO that is the story.

In other more exciting news, tomorrow we are having our family chrismas party and I am really excited; it is my favorite part of Christmas!!!
This is last years Christmas tree…I just wanted something Christmasy on here though! And I won’t be such a butt about posting pictures on here so I will post some pictures from the partay tomorrow! Hope you are having a great weekend!

As my earlier posts would give you an idea (assuming you follow my posts! ) about my GRE and TOEFL e

As my earlier posts would give you an idea (assuming you follow my posts! ) about my GRE and TOEFL experiences. The next on the list definitely had to be the application procedure. As an international student, the application procedure is even more complex than the usual. A lot of hidden costs, tiresome procedures await you. These are things I have discovered down the lane and don’t want it to come as a shock to the rest of you.

Lets begin with the application package. Your application package would consist of your Gradesheets, 3 Recommendation Letters, SoP (Statement of purpose), Financial Document (For most US universities), GRE score and your TOEFL score.Lets look at each of them closely.

First in the list are your Gradesheets or Transcripts. These have to be ORIGINAL copies issued by the controller of examinations of the university. Attested photocopies are NOT considered to be valid.

Coming to the Letters of Recommendation or LoR. You will need three LoR’s from your college professors or someone working in the industry whom you have worked with as in done an internship with or something similar. While asking your professor ensure it is soemone who has taught you so that he knows more about you as it will be weighed more than a LoR issued by a faculty who has not taught you or guided you for any of your projects. Another thing you can keep in mind is that it is preferable to ask professors with a doctorate. Again it is NOT mandatory but surely will be an added advantage. Also, you need to get each copy signed and sealed in an envelope. (Again no photocopies!)

The next document is your Financial document. This is the one document that did not fall in place for me this year so I guess I will have to wait another year to apply. Anyway about the financial document, this has to be a letter from the bank stating that you (or your sponsor) have certain amount of “READILY AVAILABLE FUNDS” for your education. The amount will cover your first years tuition fee and living expenses. Most of us think that property &/or salary slips would suffice but sadly that is not how it works. There are FEW universities in US which do not require the Financial document at the application time.

As for GRE and TOEFL, ets.org is what you should be looking up. You can book your exam dates and everything through that site. It is more like the bible for GRE and TOEFL! Regarding the preparation and GRE experience here is a link. For TOEFL experience and exam details click here.

Next is your statement of purpose. This might seem like a cake walk but you actually realize that this is one of the most time consuming processes. To come up with the final draft you need to come up with atleast 10-15 versions of it! And sometimes in the process of writing one you realize how little you know about yourself! Funny as it may seem but some questions like ‘Tell me about yourself’ or ‘whats your motivation to study’ etc become extremely tough to answer. The challenge is to make your SoP unique. There are a lot of samples available on the internet. I would suggest you DONT read any of them before you do your SoP. Just get some guidelines. I think this link can be of some help. After you have come up with a draft probably you can read some other SoPs and compare and rethink. But make it a point to NOT copy paste any lines as that may lead to a direct rejection. I dont think my SoP is all that great but in sometime I shall surely upload it IF that can be of help to anyone.

So now we are done with the details of the application package. Next thing we need to deal with is the shortlisting of universities. For those of you who do not have much of an idea regarding the good universities or how to come up with your wishlist, you can begin by using some ranking sites like usnews.com for reference. But do not follow these rankings blindly! Go through the universities homepage, department homepage find out about the GRE score required and the financial document details. I would suggest you maintain an excel containing these details (something I forgot to do and was in great trouble! ). This is again a time consuming procedure. You should come up with a list of universities to which you should send your GRE score depending on your score. For those of you who are not aware that as soon as your GRE exam ends you have to enter the college details of FOUR colleges to which your scores can be sent free of cost. So depending on your performance you need to enter your choice of universities. Have around 6 (minimum) universities in different score ranges. The choice has to be wise. Do NOT go for all ambitious universities. 2 in the high range, 2 medium and 2 sure shot universities. To come up with the final list a lot of effort needs to go in.

Application to US universities is not only time intensive but also cost intensive. When the process begins you will not realize that the cost of applying to say 6 universities approximately comes around 1Lakh Indian rupees. This is an approximate amount and is on the upper side but includes your GRE , TOEFL registration fee, score card fee, university application fee (varies from one univ to another), your courier service charges and also other miscellaneous expenses like issuing of the consolidated gradesheets, coaching (if any),etc.

So you need to think real hard before you make any decisions. Apart from the monetary aspect do consider your reasons to study further. Doing an MS because your friends are doing it is definitely not a good enough reason.

Next assuming you have prepared all the documents. You need to visit the webpage of each of the universities you wish to apply to. There will be an online application form that you will need to fill. For Fall the deadlines for international students start from december mid. Make sure you start the online application also well in advance as you will need to grant your recommender s ample time to submit the recommendation electronically also. After your application is complete you need to pay the application fee and send in the hard copy of your documents to the university. Within 2-3 months you will hear from the university. Cross your fingers and hope for the best!

If you have any questions you can feel free to ask. I’ll try and answer to the best of my knowledge! And I am hoping this post is helpful to you guys!

Many college students have just finished exam week: a time of year where sleepless nights and cramming become routine. For a lot of students, the pressure can be overwhelming. Some students even illegally use adderall for a study-aid, as a means to an end to getting the grade.

But are your grades really going to help you get the job you want?

This question first stemmed from a conversation with the VP of a Public Relations firm I visited this past semester. After reviewing my resume, she suggested I delete “Dean’s List” and other academic awards in order to free up more space for work experience. Needless to say, I was a bit taken aback.

On 11/17’s #PRStudChat, I asked the question,“Are grades important to employers?”

Valerie Simon, senior vice president at BurrellesLuce and co-host of #PRStudChat, gave some great insights on this topic:

@valeriesimon As you gain experience, grades become less important. But graduating with honors or distinctions is a great opportunity to distinguish yourself. And if you ever decide to go to grad school, grades definitely matter- if you can show that you are able to succeed academically while balancing an internship. Beyond grades and experience- work ethic, willingness to learn & personality play a tremendous role. And yes, the combination of experience (good recommendations), attitude and work ethic can help put you ahead of someone with good grades & nothing else.

And the statistics back up Valerie’s POV:

The 2007 Job Outlook Survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) ranked GPA as number 17 of the top 20 qualities employers find important in a candidate. And you know what quality was most important to employers? Communications skills.

Still not convincing enough for your A+ mind? Then ask a Public Relations firm, such as Lewis PR.

What matters to them more than a 4.0 GPA?

1. Demonstration of an in-depth knowledge of the company and client base

2. Mechanical perfection in the cover letter and resume presentation

3. Collegiate sports / campus organizations

Don’t get me wrong, this is not a call to slackerdom nor is it a reflection of my academic habits (see “Dean’s List” above). We learn at a young age that all A’s get the golden star; our start to learning goal-setting skills. Good grades also show responsibility, time management, work ethic, etc.

My point is this: straight A’s are not “the end all and the be all” (Thanks, Shakespeare!) I think standardized testing in no way shows anything but the ability to memorize and regurgitate text books — aka academic bulimia — let alone intelligence. Learning- both inside and outside the classroom- is more important than that golden star on your transcript.

So relax if you didn’t get all A’s this semester. The initiative you’re taking outside of the classroom will make up for it.

*Addendum* – When I first posted this topic, I made an assumption that ALL PR students were brilliant (and I think for the most part, I’m correct). But after reading comments and tweets about this post, I realize I left out one important aspect: BAD GRADES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. In my opinion, a student with under a 3.0 gpa in their major should highly consider switiching majors: they are either 1) not cut out for the academic requirements of the major or 2) not passionate enough about what they are studying. My bottom line of this post is that experience, skills and initiative will trump “okay” grades. You don’t need a perfect A-record or a 4.0 gpa in order to get the job you want. You need to want it bad enough to do the extra stuff OUTSIDE of the classroom.

Brodsky: I am a poet and a literary translator.
Judge: Who recognizes you as a poet? Who enrolled you in the ranks of poets?
Brodsky: No one. Who enrolled me in the ranks of humankind?
*KP – Kyoto Protocol*
*arnd – around*
*Pls. – Please*
*reqd – required*

*Danish Prime Minister **Lars* Lokke Rasmussen- Welcome speech:

Presence of leaders is a possibility of ambitious climate deal. Opportunity
not to miss and save the world, world is watching and this is a chanc to
chalk out a plan for planet and for future generation. Decisive moment, to
change the world… ample risk of wrong science. Courage is what it takes to
stand and speak and courage is what is takes to sit down and listen.
Remember all your heavy compromise of life and all things you care about.
Need for a deal – for both negotiating tracks, Global threats have been
faced earlier – good news: we know what the problem is and we know how to
change … we can change this message from technology, we want to change is
the message from people. Pls. think of yourself and about the people around
the world and take the decision. Copenhagen is the place to be and it is the
place to act. Lets work for a bright and geen future.

*UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:*

let us pose to reflect how far we have come, for years skeptics have called
CC a myth, scince have changed today. Bali gave us a road map to Copenhagen,
road is difficult and target is large. 130 heads of states are coming that
means CC is main thing on out agenda. A deal in our common intrest, protects
most vulnerable, and ensures green growth. 3 yrs od efforts have come down
to 3days of negotiations and actions. Poverty,, econoic growth and
maintining peace and prosperity are one of many chanllenges we face. *Young
people ask, show us a change show us a deal.* We are here for an agreement
that is FAB, acknowledges troubles for all countries…2C and that
challenges our ability

1. emission reduction target for develop
2. more commitment from developing countries
3. financing
4. adaptation and mitigation
5. transparent and equitable governance

welcomes, 10Bn/yr dollars for copenhagen fund. We must look for long term
commitments. we have come a long way and our goal is to lay the foundaton
for legally binding treaty this time. Ambition level are not sustainable,
global response now, time for negotiation is over, time for unfair
negotiations is over..time to act now. Strong the agreement in copenhagen
..KP must be maintained. most complex and most difficult. we are present at
the start of new era.

COP-President *Connie Hedegaard* :

Sucess within reach, but we can fail also. because we spend time too much on
repeating our positions and negotiating them. we must change gears, cant
risk faliure no one wants that … therefore a key word is COMPROMISE.
People arnd the world the call is same ‘act now and act now pls’. leaders
are expected to answer to the challenge. small steps reqd. for moving ahead,
more thatn 120 heads of states joining … this is imp achivements now is
the time to act and increase pace of progress. Correspond our progress with
call & demand out side. small steps to be followed by big steps. u must
commit, u must compromise, u must deliver. At Stake: world leaders to come
to agreement. turn division into decision, we all are accountable for not
only what we do but also what we fail to do. LETS GET IT DONE.

*Yvo de Boer*, executive secretary UNFCCC

This day 2 yrs back we were in Bali, after intense negotiations u suceeded
to deliver now agin we are at the same turn. progress till now is not
enough. We cannot keep on running the same thing compasssion makes nations
great. u all have capability to deliver and therefoe u are here. Science
tells us solutions exists but its on us to decide if we adopt to a strong
agreement. thousands of young are trying to make most impact as possible. we
need ambitious results under KP, adaptation – mitigation-tech
transfer-fiance-redd: much of progress has been made but finance still
remains an issure to think abt. It is upto you to …a place where good
intentions were changed to good treaty and let the history repeat.

HRH Prince of Wales,

http://www.actoncopenhagen.decc.gov.uk/en/ambition/achievements/december/15-dec-prince-of-wales-speech

Dr. W Mathai,
Delegates cannot negotiate with climate they can negotiate among themselves.
African and small islands are suffering from adverse effects. Historical
responsibility, some regions have over used our common climate space;
respond to carbon responsibility and carbon justice. How far rich countries
are ready to countribute from their comfortable positions? Upto the
developing world to convince them that CC is a global problem and this is
the time to respond. No delegate leaves the conference with a perfect deal,
we must find common ground and transparent and leave copenhagen with a
document with ..Respect to KP. Forest an intergral part of solutions to
cOP15, I support REDD plus. from COP15 we need governance structure for
financing the needs of the most vulneralble. we can give the world a modern
hope to FAB agreement.

091213 KTR Segment about Donghae

KTR mentioned something with Donghae. He’s a cute kid.
Donghae was in his dorm alone decorating the christmas tree~ It was said that the boys on the 11th storey wouldn’t do up the christmas tree so only the 12th storey has a christmas tree.
As Donghae likes these cute little things, he decorated the tree and even plugged in electricity.
But Hyukjae asked him why he’s doing this kind of stuffs and even called Donghae weirdo.
The thought of Donghae doing up the christmas tree alone is so cute~ How much effort and thought did he put in to pick those little decorations.
But because of Hyukjae, he became a weird person.
Hyukjae-ah~ Donghae is pure, not weird~~
Don’t think that those who make christmas trees are weird~
