Following the string of departures from Sevilla in the past weeks and probable sale of Christian Rom

Following the string of departures from Sevilla in the past weeks and probable sale of Christian Romaric, it appears two more first-team squad players could leave.

Romaric, as previously reported, was close to joining Turkish side Bursaspor until the Green Crocodiles cancelled the transfer, but now looks like he could be joining French champions Lille.

The two players that could be following the big Ivorian out of the exit door at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan are Rodri and Mouhamadou Dabo as the technical staff and Head Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral appear to be less than convinced about either player.

Barca-bound Rodri?

Rodri came to prominence on the final day of the 2009-10 season when the then 19 year-old scored a dramatic late scissor-kick winner at Almeria, a goal that saw Sevilla pip Real Mallorca to the final Champions League place, and is now reportedly drawing interest from Barcelona.

It is believed that the Catalan’s are interested in the player being available for both the first-team squad and the reserve side with Sevilla looking for €1.5 million, according to SPORT.es.

Despite the reported asking price, goal.com Espana understand the Blaugrana have only offered €500,000 for the services of the striker, substantially lower than what the Andalucians are looking for.

Dabo on the move

Dabo, who arrived only last summer on a free transfer from Saint-Ettiene, is being linked with various clubs around Europe, however his agent has revealed that the former France Under-21 international wants to move to France or England, not another Spanish side, therefore putting to bed the rumours about him moving to Getafe.

The player’s agent, Philippe Flavier told ABC: “Sevilla have not revealed their position [in relation to talking to other clubs]. We know we have to find another team and we’re doing it quietly.

“We are evaluating what we can do, but going to France and England are good options for us.”

Flavier also ruled out a temporary switch, saying: “We do not want a loan, it would have to be permanent.”

The transfer of Sevilla midfielder Christian Romaric to Turkish side Bursaspor has fallen through, according to the player.

The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move away from Andalucia all summer and was previously courted by Trabzonspor, until they found out about his partying with Didier Zokora, a player they actually signed.

Bursaspor – 2009-10 Turkish Super Lig champions – came calling for Romaric and were expected to complete the signing last week after having a €2 million bid accepted in late July, however it has been revealed that the transfer won’t be happening, at least not for the time-being.

Romaric not Turkey-bound

Romaric is quoted by turkish-football.com as saying: “I don’t get it, everything was agreed, I was ready to go but Bursaspor decided to cancel at the last moment. I don’t understand why.”

The former Le Mans player was understood to have agreed a three-year contract with the Green Crocodiles, but it now appears his destination will be somewhere other than Turkey as reports suggest the side from Bursa were suddenly unwilling to pay Sevilla’s asking price.

Although the move to Turkey seems to be dead, Romaric appears destined to leave the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan with Lille looking like the most likely destination at the moment as the French champions’ coach, Rudy Garcia is an admirer from the Ivorian’s days at Le Mans and is currently searching for a player to replace Yohan Cabaye who left for Newcastle United.

ABC also cite German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen with having a strong interest as they reportedly contacted Sevilla around the time Bursaspor were in discussions with Romaric, however it is believed they have not spoken since.

Sevilla attacker Alejandro Alfaro has joined fellow La Liga club Real Mallorca for €700,000 after failing to break into the first-team at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Alfaro made his debut for the club in 2006 after impressing for Sevilla Atletico, appearing for the last ten minutes of a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, and despite an impressive loan spell at Tenerife, he was only ever on the fringes of the team.

The biggest obstacle for the former Spain Under-21 international was Jesús Navas, with the impressive right-winger stopping any chance of Alfaro ever becoming first-choice.

Alfaro leaves Sevilla

In his first season on-loan at Tenerife, the Sevilla youth-product managed 20 goals in the Segunda and managed seven the next year after the islanders won promotion to La Liga, however his efforts were to be invain as the blues were relegated back to the Segunda.

Following the signings of Manu del Moral and Piotr Trochowski, plus the return of Emiliano Armenteros and the potential arrival of Gio Dos Santos, it became clear that Alfaro would once again struggle for minutes on the pitch as he made just eight starts in La Liga last season.

The versatile attacker has signed a five-year contract and it is believed he will earn €13,400 per-week, whilst his buy-out clause has been set to €18 million.

It has also been reported by realmallorca.co.uk Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido tried to include young Los Nervionenses striker Rodri in the deal, but, despite believing the 21 year-old is a good player, Mallorca president Lorrenc Serra Ferrer didn’t think he would fit into the team.

Sevilla have officially announced their squad numbers for the up-coming season and two players involved in first-team affairs last season haven’t even been given one.

Christian Romaric and Alejandro Alfaro have failed to convince the coaching staff of their worth and have therefore not been assigned squad numbers seemingly settling their fate at the club.

Both players have been linked with moves away from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this summer, with Romaric understood to be getting closer and closer to a move to 2009-10 Turkish Super Lig champions, despite his reluctance to leave.

The Ivorian had also looked close to joining fellow Turkish side Trabzonspor and linking up with former Sevilla man Didier Zokora earlier in the summer, but after the Super Lig runner-ups found out about his ‘extra-curricular’ activities with Zokora they felt it would be best not to re-unite the two friends.

Romaric on his way out

Alfaro, a youth-product who has been in and around the first-team squad since 2006, managed to force his way back into first-team contention last season following two years at Tenerife, but he was unable to hold down a starting place upon his return to the club even with Jesus Navas out injured for much of the year.

The former Spain Under-21 international had been linked with a move to Premier League side Bolton, however that failed to materialise and it looked as though he would be staying on until at least January, but that now appears not to be the case.

Other talking points with the squad numbers includes Jose Campana being awarded the number 16 shirt, the most famous club shirt after the death of Antonio Puerta in 2007, whilst Tom De Mul and Arouna Kone have also failed to secure a place in the squad.

The two numbers remaining are 24 and 25 (must be assigned to a goalkeeper or left vacant), perhaps suggesting should the club be able to add one more attacker to the team, he would be assigned 24.

The full squad-list and numbers are as follows:

1. Palop

2. Fazio

3. Fernando Navarro

4. Martín Cáceres

In the last few weeks, one of our own left the club for pastures new as Sevilla youth-product Diego Capel joined Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.

The fee involved is understood to be about €3.5m with Sevilla receiving 20% of the Spanish international’s future transfer rights, however the sale was ultimately quite a disappointing transaction.

Although ever since Diego Perotti burst on to the scene in early 2009 Capel hasn’t been as effective, he was still only 23 years-old and could have blossomed into the player we know he can be at Sevilla, rather than seeing him leave for Portugal.

However, what’s done is done and everyone associated with Sevilla will wish him all the best, fans, staff and players alike whilst we also hope to see him wearing the white and red of Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan once again in the future.

Racing Santander have announced the signing of Sevilla attacker Lautaro Acosta on a one-year loan deal.

The former Argentina youth-international had been linked with a move away from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan ever since Marcelino Garcia Toral took over from Gregorio Manzano following three highly disappointing years in Andalucia.

Since joining los Nervionenses from his childhood club Lanus for a fee of €7m in 2008, Acosta has gone on to make just 23 La Liga appearances with injuries being a major obstacle, however Sevilla haven’t totally given up on him just yet.

The loan to El Sardinero does not contain the option to purchase the 23 year-old at the end of the year with Sevilla hoping he could still be of some use to them should he firmly find his feet whilst in Cantabria.

Acosta in loan-switch to Racing Santander

Racing will pay Sevilla €600,000 for the services of Acosta for the next year and will cover 80% of his wages themselves.

It is thought that Acosta was targetted as a potential replacement for Giovani Dos Santos who spent the second-half of last season on-loan at Racing from Premier League side Tottenham and, incidentally, is currently a target for Sevilla.

In other news at Sevilla, Manuel Redondo has joined Sabadell on a free transfer after spending several years in the Sevilla Atletico side whilst David Prieto, a veteran of 30 La Liga appearances for the rojiblancos will join Corboda in the Segunda after his deal expired.

It has also been claimed in various publications such as Marca that the club are currently in negotiations with Turkish side Bursaspor over the transfer of Christian Romaric after discussions with Galatasaray broke down last month, however there has been no indication as to whether the Ivorian is interested in a move to the 2009-10 Turkish Super Lig champions.

Argentine wideman Emiliano Armenteros looks set to remain at Sevilla for the foreseeable future foll

Argentine wideman Emiliano Armenteros looks set to remain at Sevilla for the foreseeable future following Diego Capel’s recent transfer.

Capel emerged as a surprise target for Portuguese side Sporting Clube de Portugal (or more commonly known as Sporting Lisbon) in July and the deal gathered momentum very quickly before the deal being confirmed earlier this week.

Armenteros recently returned from an eye-opening loan-spell at Rayo Vallecano, whom he helped gain promotion from the Segunda division by scoring 20 league goals from his left-wing berth but was expected to be sold this summer given his inability to prove himself at the club in the past.

The Argentine had been linked with a move to Sporting Gijon to replace Diego Castro who joined Getafe at the beginning of the summer, however it now appears he won’t be going anywhere with El Desmarque claiming that Capel’s departure has ultimately handed the former Banfield man with a much-craved chance.

Armenteros to remain at Sevilla

A Sevilla youth-product, Capel had cemented his place in the first-team during the 2007-08 seaon, often getting rotated with Adriano, however since early 2009, the Spanish international’s form has dipped with the 2010-11 season being arguably his least inspiring.

This dip in form was unquestionably caused by the emergence of Diego Perotti, who ever since his first few first-team appearances has become a fan-favourite, a status helped by his ability to give Sergio Ramos a night to forget during Sevilla’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid last season.

Ever since breaking into the squad in 2009, Perotti has been first-choice on the left-flank leaving Capel with much less playing-time and an undoubtable consequence of that would have been a drop in confidence.

In order to make the left-wing his own, Armenteros will have to dislodge his close friend Perotti, as well as contending with the rising star that is Luis Alberto and Piotr Trochowski who the manager has already confirmed will be in contention all across the midfield, including on the wings.

Italian giants, Inter Milan are close to confirming the signing of young Sevilla winger Antonio Luque, if the latest reports are to be believed.

The 17 year-old plays on the left wing, but is highly regarded for his versatility as he is also comfortable on the right hand side and in the attacking-midfield berth and several sources believe the Spain youth-international is “practically” already an Inter player.

Both, diariodesevilla.es and AS quote calciomercato.com with breaking the story and they believe he has effectively already signed for the Milan giants, all that remains is for the official announcement, with these proceedings likely to anger the Sevilla hierarchy due to the amount of effort they have put into youth development in the last ten years.

Luque is regarded as one of the most talented of the players currently coming through the ranks at Sevilla along with Jose Campana, Luis Alberto, Carlos Garrido and Jairo Rivero.

Luque is yet to make a senior appearance for either Sevilla or Sevilla Atletico, however he did appear on the bench for the latter’s 2-1 defeat at Yeclano on January 23 this year, three weeks after his 17th birthday.

Following yesterday’s reports that Sevilla defender Sergio Sanchez was the next player on Malaga’s shopping list, Marca understand the deal could be finalised today.

Sanchez is by no means guaranteed first team football at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and the lure of joining a club with the ambition of Malaga could be too hard to turn down with the former Spain Under-21 international set to become the Blanquirrojo’s sixth signing of the summer and we aren’t even in July.

It was long suggested that the transfer priority of Malaga this summer was to shore up their defence after they conceded a massive 68 in La Liga last season, with relegated Almeria the only club who let in more.

Sanchez to become Malaga's sixth summer signing

Despite the expectancy of Sanchez moving to La Rosaleda, Marca have also suggested that Marseille’s Cesar Azpilicueta could sign too, however it has not been stipulated as to whether the former Osasuna man would join permanently or on loan.

It is understood that the fee Sanchez will move for is in the region of €3 million, an amount that will see the rojiblancos lose €1m on their original investment as the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan club paid Espanyol €4m for the Catalan defender two years ago.

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani is said to be wanting to give Malaga fans a big surprise signing this summer and despite being linked with Javier Pastore of Palermo, Villarreal’s Santi Cazorla is a name that has begun to crop up, whilst many sources believe Malaga’s next move after Sanchez will be Valencia’s Joaquin.

Versatile Sevilla defender, Sergio Sanchez is reportedly attracting the interest of cash-happy Malaga as they look to bolster their backline.

Sanchez has been with Sevilla for just under two years as he joined the club for a fee of €4 million in July of 2009, however his time at the los Nervionenses been far from what he would have planned.

In January 2010, just six months into his spell in Andalucia, the former Spain Under-21 international was told he must stop playing football until serious examinations of his heart were carried out after he complained about various pains in that region.

By the time he returned to action, the Espanyol youth-product had missed a year of action as he made his comeback in the 3-0 Copa del Rey victory over Villarreal on January 18 2011.

Sanchez could be the next one out the door

Since signing from his boy-hood club, Sanchez has made just 14 league appearances for Sevilla, seven before his heart issues and seven after, however this term on his return, he showed himself to be a valuable asset, turning in a number of solid displays at right-back as well as centre-back.

However, following the most difficult spell of his career, he could be set to move on once again as big-spending Malaga continue to throw their money around.

Marca understand that the Blanquirrojo are concentrating on bolstering their defensive options ahead of next season with Sanchez a perfect a option due to his defensive versatility.

Malaga conceded 68 goals last term, a feat that must not be repeated if their ambition of European football is to become reality, whilst Sanchez would provide competition for Jesus Gamez at right back, plus Martin Demichelis, Joris Mathijsen and Welligton at centre-half.

It is believed that the club have already contacted Pepe Mesa, the player’s agent, to establish whether the Catalan would be open to a move to the Costa del Sol, however Sevilla sporting director Monchi has told reporters that they have received no contact from Malaga.

Sevilla’s Ivory Coast international midfielder, Christian Romaric is to stay at the club, at least for the time being after negotiations with Trabzonspor broke down.

The former Le Mans man looked likely to follow compatriot Didier Zokora to Turkish Super Lig runner-ups, but the two clubs were unable to come to an agreement, with the player himself seeming unwilling to move to Turkey.

Marca understand that although there was interest established by the Turks during the meetings for Zokora’s transfer, no official bid was ever sent to the rojiblancos.

No Turkish delight for Romaric

In the end, it appears that Romaric’s lack of enthusiasm around the move was met caused it to collapse before it ever got going with the player’s representatives confident that the €3 million asking price could have been met.

Another reported concern was that Trabzonspor officials were unsure about reuniting Romaric with Zokora following their extra-curricuar activities one night in Barcelona where the two players escaped the club hotel in order to party all night on the eve of a match.

Romaric, who arguably had his best season at Sevilla last season still looks likely to be sold this summer with Real Zaragoza apparently willing to re-ignite their interest from last summer, whilst Mallorca are also keeping an eye on proceedings.

Sevilla’s former Argentina Under 20 international, Emiliano Armenteros, looks set join Sportin

Sevilla’s former Argentina Under 20 international, Emiliano Armenteros, looks set join Sporting Gijon in August if he fails to convince his new manager he is worthy of a place in the squad.

Armenteros is set to re-join Sevilla following two consecutive seasons out on loan, but it is believed he will be given a chance to show what he can do over the pre-season before the club make a decision on his future.

The 25 year-old spent the 2009-10 season at Xerez for whom he played 25 La Liga matches, scoring four goals before the minnows were relegated back to the Segunda.

Armenteros also found himself back in the Segunda for the 2010-11 season, but with a slight change of scenery as Rayo Vallecano snapped him up on a year-long loan and it was here where he really blossomed.

The former Independiente wideman made 37 appearances in the league over the course of the season, bagging a remarkable 20 goals from his usual berth on the left-wing.

Judegement Day approaches for Emiliano Armenteros

It is this form that has earnt himself one last chance at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, however he already has a move elsewhere lined up if he fails to convince Marcelino that he is up to the task of challenging the two Diego’s; Capel, and most importantly, Perotti.

According to lne.es and several other online publications, Sporting Gijon see Armenteros as the perfect replacement for Getafe-bound Diego Castro as his contract runs out next summer, therefore they know they can get him on the cheap should Sevilla decide to sell.

It is understood that Sporting have made contact with the club, Armenteros and his agent regarding his availability, with it also being reported that a deal has already been agreed

The Banfield youth product has been unlucky at Sevilla as he has rarely been given the chance to shine in the first-team ever since his move from Independiente in 2007.

Since moving to Spain, Emiliano has played just four league matches for the first-team, spending almost two years in the B Team – Sevilla Atletico.

His transfer was one very similar to that of Diego Perotti’s, arriving from Argentina and then learning his trade at Sevilla Atletico, however, Perotti was given the chance to succeed in the first team.
