Release Date: January 12, 2010 Album: Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky Rating: ★★★★ (78 out of 100) Rev

Release Date: January 12, 2010

Album: Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky

Rating: ★★★★ (78 out of 100)

Review: OK Go release their third studio album with “Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky”. It’s a concept album influenced by the book “The Influence of the Blue Ray of the Sunlight and of the Blue Colour of the Sky” by General A.J. Pleasonton. There’s a more elaborate structure to the album’s lyrics explained in the CD insert involving lyrics expressed as colors but good luck with all that. The first single off the album is WTF? and its a pretty good, electronic-sounding alternative rock jam complete with psychedelic music video. Any music video that Ok Go puts out will be judged in comparison to the viral small video for treadmill, the “decade’s most viewed music video”. The second single is Back from Kathmandu, which has a pot and pan bangin’ introduction that evolves into a more complex acoustic rock song. A third single, to be released in 2010, is This Too Shall Pass, which is a familiar sounding pop track. There’s a lot of other good music on “Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky” as well. Last Leaf is a pretty chill acoustic number. Needing Getting, White Knuckles and I Want You So Bad I Can’t Breathe are worth a spin or too also. Overall, it’s a good laid-back alt. rock album.
