The Penguin Patrol from the 19th Wallasey Guides held a photo exhibition – ‘Because I’m a Girl’ at Marlowe Road Church Hall this evening.  The event was held as part of the Girl Guides ‘Changing the World’ campaign, towards celebrating 100 years of Guiding.

I was invited along by Karen Hudson the ‘Guider’ in my role as Ambassador to Guiding – Jane Owens was also there I’d seen her a couple of weeks ago at  Hadlow Fields.

Kate gave me a tour of the exhibitions, the Guides compared themselves to girls of a similar age in Africa and the differences in what they were able to do and achieve.  The Guides had put a lot of work into the evening and the exhibitions.  Local members of the Trefoil Guild (those who have a connection with guiding) were also there reminiscing!

I asked Kate how many badges she had – she immediately put on her jacket which had over 30!!  There are 40 guides up to the age of 16 who belong to the 19th Wallasey Guides, and there’s a waiting list.  It was great to see youngsters helping in the community and achieving so much.
