As much as we are loving this warm weather we can’t help but get a little excited about what this fall is about to bring not only to our closets, abut more importantly to our nail polish collections. We’ve been swooning over the Fall polish previews and are especially excited about this year’s colours. This fall we are seeing a lot of deep, rich shades that pop against those classic warm fall colours – emerald green, dandelion yellow and bright & gothic purples are just the start. Happy Olymics everyone! With opening ceremonies taking place today we thought it would be a perfect time to highlight some Olymic nail trends. This year we’ve seen an overwhelming amount of brands releasing lines inspired by the Olymics and we could not be happier – we love an opportunity to purchase an unexpected polish collection or try out some new nail art design. This year CND is offering polish applications to all Olympic athletes to keep their nails in top shape, and with that they’ve also released two official Olympic nail art designs! We love these and will definitely draw some inspiration for our own designs. Butter London and Nails Inc. have released polish packs that literally include every colour you could ever want to include in your own olympic nail art – LOVE! We’ve seen some great designs out there – lots of people using the olympic rings in different ways, ombre of bronze silver and gold and country flag nails are just the start.

One thing that we love about pre-fall collections is how they seem to compliment both our summer and fall shades perfectly. This is the time where we can revive the shades that have been moved to the back of our shelves and look forward to the upcoming fall polish releases (umm have you seen the preview for the fall Essie line? Love!). The Missoni Pre-Fall collection seemed to offer a perfect combination of colour and pattern that screamed nail art and inspired today’s post. If you haven’t already noticed, our swatch reviews have been filled with tons of fabulous orange shades these past few weeks. We’ve had a thing for orange polish ever since Tangerine Tango was named one of the colour trends of 2012 & we are finally starting to see new shades being released to support the trend – yay! These polishes have been the ones that have really stuck out in recent collections and have our stamp of approval, both with shade and formula. Hope they manage to brighten your Monday!

We’ve been indulging in spring shades lately and we almost started to forget how amazing a simple mannequin mani could look – we’re talking about those nude shades that leave a beautiful creamy finish on your nail with no shimmer at all. Sometimes you don’t need a loud or bright manicure to set your tips apart. Formula is everything when choosing your mannequin shade – pair the ones above with a matte top coat and you’ll bring this mani to a whole other level! It’s official, Mannequinmania has swept the nation – we think you should jump on board! Like seriously, how amazing does this look?!

If we learned anything from elementary school art class (other than how to trace your hand and turn it into a turkey) it was that if you mixed two primary colours the result would be an even better secondary colour. Now that we’ve all grown up and stopped tracing our hands we’ve learned  that primary colours are anything but secondary to a wardrobe and are perfect compliments to any look, in any season. As new polish collections come and go we see various trends surrounding these colours – some bringing in shimmer, some lighter, some darker – however, finding the shades that perfectly match your 8 ct. Crayola Crayons (minus the brown and black) can be a difficult task. After much trial and error we like to think that we’ve found our perfect colour wheel shades and they are too good not to be shared!

We don’t know about you, but we are so looking forward to the Oscars this Sunday. While most of North America will be on the edge of their seat wondering who will take home the award for Best Picture, we are most interested in the award for Best Manicure. The Grammys set the bar high this year and proved that a good manicure is more than just maintenance –  it can be your best accessory when executed correctly. Shout out to Adele for taking the prize that night with her Ciaté  Louboutin manicure #swoon.

The red carpet will be dripping with elegance on Sunday, and nothing says glam like some classic red and gold polish mixed with a little sparkle. Not only will these colours give you nails red carpet status, but these high end brands are guaranteed to deliver a perfect formula and application.

Spring has sprung a little early in Canada this year and we certainly aren’t complaining! We are so ready to pack up our heavy winter jackets and re-introduce some fresh, bright colours to our wardrobe. We have been stocking up on spring polish shades for the past few weeks and they are all on stand by, ready to be added into our regular rotation this season. This mint green, pistachio shade has graced our tips in the past however this spring we are seeing a lot more variations of it – not only in polish, but also in fashion. We love how light and fresh the colour is – a perfect compliment to sunny days and floral patterns. Add one of these polishes to your collection and we promise you will thank us in a few weeks.

Love is in the air on Polish You Pretty with today’s Trending Tips Report – True, Pure Love. It didn’t take us long to figure out that we wanted to feature our favourite local shop, PURE Home Couture in today’s Valentines Day inspired post – we adore this store and absolutely everything it has to offer. Featuring parisian inspired luxury goods from around the world, PURE’s atmosphere is nothing short of romantic. We swoon over all of their products, especially the handmade candles and greeting cards created exclusively for PURE by the once fashion designer and now store co-owner, Abby Kanak. When the demin jeans fit, buy them…in every wash. Nobody likes shopping for jeans, but when you find something that works for you it’s almost a requirement to buy them (we say the same goes for nail polish). If jean shopping isn’t your thing you can look to the denim shirt, bracelet and sunglasses featured here – they are great alternatives.

These denim inspired polishes will give your collection a well rounded blue selection that is ready to be paired with any denim wash you choose. We start off with Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips in ‘Skinny Jeans’ – one of the best nail sticker brands on the market (we think) and if you haven’t tried these already, then trust us and add them to your must-have list. They are the easiest things to apply and deliver amazing results (check back for a tutorial soon!). We end with our favourite royal navy and grey-blues – these shades are in our regular rotation and needed to be shared with you all.
