The serious communication I mean, there is no need in using Twitter out of a professional use. Nowadays, communication is becoming a concept about information and speed and Twitter has been built on that purpose, it suits thus a lot with communication. Twitter enables us to inform ourselves about what is going on around the world and at a really high speed. With twitter, you can live the buzz at real time and be informed before everyone. Something you really do not want to miss? Thanks to Twitter, the information is immediate. Twitter can relate in live important events. For instance, it was the first to signal the forced landing of a plane in New York or the first to talk about the bombing in Bombay or still the elections in Iran. Medium from all over the world have quickly understood the interest that they could take from Twitter. Channels such as CNN or the BBC display flash info’s and put them as links on their website.
Furthermore, in the affairs domain, Twitter can be an extremely efficient and cheap tool offered to factories: put its products and its new services on the front line, create the buzz and get in touch with its clients.
Eventually, Twitter can also be seen as a competitive tool to catch trends and conversations of the moment.

It’s 2008 and for many that means a wardrobe overhaul. While there are still some carry overs

It’s 2008 and for many that means a wardrobe overhaul. While there are still some carry overs from last season there are a ton of new looks that have taken over our favorite stores. Among the list of this seasons must haves you will find maxi dress, high waisted denim, and even jumpers. As with any clothing trend there are a lot of decade inspired looks this season as well as some other exciting twists and turns. Spring is just around the corner so spruce of your closet by adding clothing that reflect these hot run way trends.

1970’s: Thought bell bottoms and high waisted pants where something only seen on “That 70’s Show,” or in your parents old photos? Think again. The seventies are making a big return in 2008 and will be making a cameo in the denim department of your local clothing store. High waisted jeans are going to be big this spring as are bell bottoms and retro print tops and dresses. Think groovy to achieve that 70’s cool thats super hot on the runway and in the streets.

1930’s: Fashion is traveling back even further this spring to bring you that classic 30’s influence. Though we saw a small flash of this decade in winter 2007, spring 2008 is really delving into the this delicate era with clothing that takes on a simple yet classic twist. Look for lacy tops in a multitude of colors to really bring the past into your present. There will also be an influx of streamline striped suits reminiscent of this decade. The goal here is to play up the silhouette and look classy, elegant and sophisticated. op

Lingerie: This spring lingerie inspired pieces will hit the rack to further add to that classic chic look. Everything from tops to dresses will be inspired by your bedtime favorites. Lace, boning, bows, and other intimate influences will be a huge thing this spring. There is a movement towards transparent fabrics showing just enough skin without it being tasteless. Layering these lingerie inspired pieces, specifically the transparent ts is fun and sexy way to really bring this fashion trend to your daily life.

Greek: If you thought the 70’s and the 30’s were a real blast from the past, you’ll be even more surprised to find that many designers are bringing back styles from ancient Greece. Think layers, draping, pleats and flowing fabrics. This trend will heavily influence the all hailed maxi dress which in and of it’s self is the perfect this style. Look for long flowing dresses inspired by our Greek ancestors to really feel like a goddess this spring.

Safari: When you think spring you think warmer weather but designers want you to think hot with various safari inspired looks ranging from the simple khaki colored hat to tribal inspired dresses and tops. With field jackets in olives and croissants, you’ll look like your ready to hit the African desert. In keeping with this springs hot adventure, look for accessories and complimentary tops funky tribal designs as well animal prints like zebra stripes.

I’ve noticed a concert trend at theaters, for me anyway. First show I saw at a Theatre (Orpheum) was Morrissey. Now, I had heard of Morrissey at the time (October 30, 2007) and knew a few of his songs. That turned out to be a good show. Then, I saw Editors in January 2008 at the Orpheum. I knew a few of Editors really good songs, but overall I wasn’t tremendously familiar with their set. The Orpheum mega-show on September 27, 2008 that featured Built to Spill, Dinosaur Jr., and Meat Puppets was the same deal for me: I knew a few songs from each band. Then on January 24, 2009, we caught Mission of Burma at the Somerville Theatre. Their set list was fairly unfamiliar to me as well. The bottom line is I expect tonight’s Sonic Youth/Feelies show to be quite similar to these prior theater performances. They’ve all been good or great, despite me not knowing most of the songs played.

No matter where we were born, geographically speaking, be it anywhere in this world, the only determ

No matter where we were born, geographically speaking, be it anywhere in this world, the only determining factor of what we are, is our genes. Apart from those genes, we comprise of millions of customs and rituals which were being followed, down the years by our ancestors and passed on to the descendants, and on each transfer somewhat of it was losing. Yes, through each generation aren’t we losing out on those practices exceptional and some not, by reasoning or science, laziness or lack of enthusiasm, lack of peripheral physical or mental? Today how many of us feel it is an imperative to keep the customs and traditions of our family alive? How many of us still have the sense of belonging, the kinship. In this modern cosmopolitan mechanism, we tend to overlook or even forget those customs, those which were once an integral part of us and fail to pass it on completely since our children are in contemporary settings with largely heterogeneous society, where the mixed religion/caste/race background marriages is becoming more and more common. Parents in such cases prefer not to impose and overburden their children with all the customs from both sides.

I was only born in Kerala but I spent all my life in Delhi, till four years back when I moved to Germany. I must have visited my birthplace around 15 or 16 times in all, being kids we had no choice then, short of being dragged or handcuffed, me and my brother acquiesced each time. It took really long until we grew up to understand what it meant to have bathed in the nearby stream, spread out on paarapuratthu (rocks) waited for our goats to finish grazing, watched my grandmother fetch water from the well, running towards the backyard where the aroma of chicken being prepared filling the entire village, the walks and the thrill to reach the local movie theatre (of course thatched roof) through the paadams (paddy fields), savouring of pazham pori (bana fritters), dosa with chamandhi (chutney), kaapi (coffee) in local chaya-kada (teashop), finding film posters of Mohanlal, Mammutty, the superheroes everywhere, the hours and hours of bus-rides from paternal to maternal homes, the pamperings from relatives, hogging onto chakka, maanga, roasted cashews etc, lighting up the villakku at the dusk and waking up when radio played unfailingly Vande Mataram every morning at 6 am.

My parents followed all the Hindu traditions, customs and festivals, how deeply religiously cannot be measured, but they did so eventhough they lived in Delhi (thanks to temples and large population of Keralites) since they were in their twenties or even before, and we as children have almost entirely absorbed and imbibed all that we saw and heard. Onam, Vishu, Mahashivaratri amongst festivals, Chorunnu, Vidhyarambham, Iruvathattu (naming of baby on 28th day) amongst ceremonies are the prominent ones. I now feel it’s my moral duty to pass all these on to my children, who speak German as first language, English as second, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil yet to follow (not burdening extra languages at this juncture when my daughter has just turned 3). Should I say even the languages/mother tongue is also losing out (I am not perfect in Malayalam, my husband is not good in Tamil ). The tradition of buying malayalam calendar is definitely over as eventhough I could read somewhat but certainly never could understand the translation of months, zodiacs etc. I am glad as of now and so far so, I have been able to celebrate all the abovesaid festivals and ceremonies along with my children despite the non-availability of all the puja items out here. And I am sure when grow up, they too will realize the beauty, purity and significance of these rituals, their genes and instincts won’t fail them either.

First time I watched Chendavaadyam in a temple, I stood their unmoved obeying the deafening beats of the drums till the end, why and how was I relating to it is inexplicable. Howsoever modern or displaced your identity might have become, your five senses will never desert you. Smell will tingle your neurons, language will resound to reach your heart, the taste buds will perceive it, and sight will finally testify and shout out loud that you belong here.

Each week, TBTS stats show the precise Google search terms by which many of our readers found our site. And each week, there are a handful of these search terms worth sharing with the world. Below are some of the more eclectic Google search terms to yield The Brown Tweed Society as a result for the week of November 13-19.

“recent strange murder 2009″

Oh, yes. I remember reading about that recent strange murder. It was so peculiar, and it happened in the last few months. Didn’t the victim die? That’s all I can recall.

“hobo pitchers”

I can see why this site would be top choice for you, sir or ma’am, but I’m going to direct you to a much better site for this: The Hobo Baseball League. No matter who wins, it’s depressing!

“Megan Fox Robot Humping Leg”

You may be surprised to know that this phrase or some variation, strangely, is not the only request we’ve seen for this — it actually comes up often, and it is, apparently, in quite high demand. Entrepreneurs, take note; it’s license to print money.

“miley cyrus ass in jeans”

Get included on government watch lists on your own time, buddy. Leave us out of it.

“swedish music”

We regret that we don’t cover enough of the Scandinavian pop scene, and we’re fully prepared to remedy that in the new year and meet all your Måns Zelmerlöw and Johan Bergqvist needs in 2010.

“why do people build celebrity skeletons”

You may be hanging out with the wrong people. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’.

“is there any scientific evidence for mons”

Is there any scientific evidence for monsters? That’s what you were going to say, wasn’t it?

“brody jenner douchebag”

Yes.

“sexer stuff”

Wouldn’t we all like a little more sexer stuff in our lives?

“bare chest under shirt”

Dude, you just missed someone who was looking for sexer stuff. You two should totally exchange numbers.

“what is levi johnston’s problem”

Hard to say where to begin, but I’d imagine “Alaskan king crabs” is on that list.

“is collecting hair weird”

Someone is actually typing this into their google search bar, in the quiet privacy of their own home, because this is something they do. Is that enough for you to stay in the house today?

“Matt Schorr gay”

First, you spelled Shorr’s name wrong. Secondly, TBTS has no official comment on the subject. Our official statement is that he is simply a “Robert Urich Enthusiast.”

“how to make people like you”

I don’t know…beer pong’s always fun.

“flat beerpong”

No wonder people don’t like you.

“how to make people like you again”

Time to bust out that hair collection, brother.

“third eye blind changed society”

They sure did. And don’t you ever forget it, dammit. Don’t you ever forget it.

Hair has become unequivocally important as it can literally make one look like a movie star or a has

Hair has become unequivocally important as it can literally make one look like a movie star or a has been from Hee Haw, which died out many years ago. It is big enough that it is a multi billion dollar industry and the average bill in a salon is approaching $100. In the big cities with a hot hairstylist like Jonathon in Beverly Hills prices can easily top $500 for a cut and style. Hair and hairstyle are also some of the most searched keywords on Google and the internet. So, its obvious that to millions of people it is vitally important to know what is in and what is out. Listed below are four of the hottest and sexiest styles that experts are predicting will rule through 2007 and beyond.

For this article we consulted with the expert hairstylists from top salons from NewYork City, Atlanta, Miami and, of course Los Angeles. As the famed hairstylist Jonathon from reality TV series Blow Out says, “your hair will make you or break you. Your hair can make you look like a super star and this is what I strive for with every client.” The hairstylists we consulted with had a lot to say and freely gave lots of pointers and interesting tips.

The short business cut. This style is actually equally popular with both men and women. You can see it on Hillary Clinton, Ellen Degeneres, and the first lady, Mrs. Bush. It is a simple, but elegant and all business hairdo. It is popular due to the fact that it tkes little upkeep to stay in place or quickly fix on a windy day. What you will be seeing as we head into 2007 and beyond is this short do will get shorter and more punk, messy. In some cases it may become almost shaved short. This variant will be slightly longer on top and coming to almost zero by the ears and back. As the females role in society and business grows so will the seriousness of her hair. Look for a marked increase in short, styled and very tight hairdo’s similar in part to many current male hairstyles.

The shaggy just sexed look. This look is just catching on and has been popularized on many of the current reality shows and other popular TV programming. This style is obviously longer than the short cut listed above and is purposely styled to look messy, punk and sexy at the same time. The secret to this style according to one hairstylist is to not wash the hair every day. Washing the hair too often will dry it out and make it lose its natural shape. Hair with proper moisture and oils is healthier and looks better. Depending on the length of hair desired for this style some stylists recommend using gels and others creams to style it and make it look just sexed. Wash your hair at night and once it’s dry, apply your personal hairstyling products. Then go to sleep, wake up, and go. You may need to fuss with it a little, but this is the style and it is hot. Jonathons new product Dirt works well for this. This is a very under rated style that will become hotter as we head into 2007. Some male models have turned to a shorter version of this style as it is a definite headturner.

Long, sexy waves. Perms are way out of style, but the latest secret fashion trend in the hottest salons in NYC is salt spray and long sexy waves. Just as in the above hairstyle, you don’t wash the hair everyday as dirty hair is easier to manage. Get the hair damp and use salt water in a spray to bring out the wavy curls. Salt spray will do amazing things to your hair. According to the salons, everyone’s hair has some natural waves and patterns and this will bring this out and intensify it. This style is so hot, just look at the sexy sirens that sport it, Jessica Alba and Shakira. They wear this style so very well. Add a simple locket or amulet to make it that much hotter. So try spritzing or spraying a little salt water on already damp hair, scrunch it and then let it air dry. Scrunching it while it is wet will give it volume and randomness. Since most hair has some sort of natural wave, the salt spray will bring it out.

The side part. This previously all male cut is making it big in fashion shows in the city and will be coming to a salon near you very soon. This will be a classic and trendy, high fashion style. It will take a sexy, rock or punk variation, though. L.A. celebrity hairstylist Sally Hershberger helped start this style and called her version of it the Twiggy Punk. It has become so popular that a $500 – $600 price tag usually goes with it. Purportedly Meg Ryan and Kirsten Dunst are big fans of this style. This style will continue to become very popular throughout 2007 and some new variants will probably emerge as the year goes on.

Simplicity and good styling is the key with all four of these hot hairstyles and cuts and there are many variants of each with punk or more conservative touches. According to the many hairstylist experts, these four and their variants will be big for years to come.

Yesterday, while my teacher was telling us how most Western societies treat the environment as an entity to be conquered and used (totally the opposite from the East, where Buddhism was born), I began thinking of how my English Literature classes in high school and college spoke of conflict in terms of Man vs. Man, Man vs. Society, Man vs. Self, Man vs. Machine and (gasp!) Man vs. Nature.

We see this Man vs. Nature conflict frequently in Hollywood movies, the most recent of which is “2012“. I think it is interesting not just how Westerners regard nature as an adversary, but how this idea and culture is spread in light of globalization. How much impact do Hollywood movies have in other cultures, especially those in Eastern, developing countries? And what kinds of impact do these movies have?

Ah, that is research that excites me. I. Will. Investigate. I guess, if no other compelling issue catches my interest, that someone now has a topic for her individual paper in class! LOL! =)
