La nueva Palm Treo mide tan solo 60 x 114 x 13.5, y pesa 133 gramos y cuenta con teléfono cuatribanda que se conecta a Internet mediante HSDPA y conectividad Bluetooth y WiFi b/g. Su chip GPS puede actuar de forma autónoma o asistida (AGPS). El procesador es un Qualcomm a 400 MGz, con 128 MB de RAM y 256 MB de memoria interna que podemos ampliar con tarjetas microSD. Su debilidad es su camara de fotos que tan solo es de 2 megapíxeles. Su pantalla táctil posee una resolución de 320×320 píxeles.

Atras quedo el Palm OS para ser reemplazado, por Windows CEO, que habría sido incluído para “abaratar costos”.

Los conectores, son USB para la recarga y conexión al ordenador, y la conexión jack de 3.5 mm para los auriculares.

La batería, es de 1500 mAh.

El smartphone Palm Treo Pro tiene la aspiración hacer frente a empresas como Apple con Iphone o al nuevo Nokia E71. Su precio es de alrededor de 500 euros.

min räddare i smärtnöden

Ja, vi är manipulerade av allt och alla.  Alla vill åt våra pengar, och på ett fult sätt så att man inte märker det.

Jag reagerade när jag var på apoteket och köpte Treo. Tidigare kunde man köpa 5 pack för cirka 150 kr ( kommer inte ihåg exakt)  Idag finns bara 3 pack för 119,50 kr.

När jag frågade varför man har tagit bort 5-pack fick jag ett luddigt svar om att inte främja missbruk!, men vadå jag kan alltid köpa 2 eller 3 förpackningar. Och jag frågade lite sarkastiskt -var det inte för att så här blir det faktiskt dyrare?  Han faktiskt mumlade lite att det är möjligt.

Det är värst att man tror att konsumenterna är dumma, när i verkligheten är så att konsumenten har bara inget val. För finns det nåt som konkurrerar med apoteket? Inte mycket.

De har ju webbshop, men där kostar det lika mycket som i butik, plus tillkommer frakt 29 kr, vilket gör ännu dyrare eller så  får man handla över 500 kr för att slippa frakten.

Och det är samma sak med livsmedel. De är mästare på att manipulera folk. Först började förpackningarna bli större. Choklad, Cocacola, barnmat, färdigmat och listan kan ju göras lång.

Så man töjde magsäcken på folk, för få som lägger åt sidan när de är väl mätta, för vad ska man göra med resten, för lite för att spara, för mycket för att slänga.  Så in i magsäcken med överflödet. Behovet är skapat. Indirekt faktiskt en orsak att folk blir bara fetare och fetare.

Nu minskar man istället, men behåller priset, vilket gör allt dyrare. Smart drag.

Men jag kan avslöja att jag säljer en hudvårdsprodukt på  klinik Divage som heter Exuviance. Och där går vi/jag  mot strömmen, för de har klämt in lite mer i vissa burkar (rengöringen tex) men priset är det det samma. Än.

Min nacke gör ont. Det har den gjort nu snart i 4 veckor. Började samtidigt med min ögonmigrän.  Ögonmigränen klingade av efter ca 8 dagar, men smärtan i nacken bestod. Många smärtstillande konsumerades och fortfarande konsumeras. Var tom orolig om att jag skulle bli beroende av dem. (Här är dosen 2 vanlig treo och 1-2 naprosyn 500 mg  3-4 gånger per dag) Ibland hjälpte det men lika ofta hände inget särskilt den onda bestod.  men jobba gjorde jag ändå.

Jag var hos doktorn senast i fredags och fick remiss till en naprapat. Självklart upptäckta jag i fredags kväll ett knöl stor som en 5 krona bakom örat. Den är hård och den gör ont.  Med all sannolikhet just den knölen som orsakar smärtan som streamar ner på nacken och en bit ner på ryggraden.  Suck… nu måste jag igen till doktoro för att ta reda på vad är det för knöl som gör mina dagar  så jobbiga. Och fråga hur många dagar jag har kvar på jorden Så jäkla typiskt att jag upptäckte knölen EFTER besöket hos henne. Mitt liv i ett nötskal.

Tillägas kan att mina blodvärden visade infektion i kroppen, men bestämdes att det är kanske alltid så.

Många säger att sport är bra för hälsan men idag vette katten om jag håller med om det.

Efter gårdagskvällens badmintonduell har jag idag mest gått omkring som i en dimma med ett huvud som känts som en pulserande tvättsvamp i ett ökenlandskap. Känns som vätskenivån i kroppen sjönk från måttligt halvdan innan matchen till snustorr efter. Och när jag sedan avklarat det obligatoriska bastubadet efteråt så gick nog kroppens samtliga varningslampor igång och skrek efter mer vätska. Men som den tröttskalle man är så missade man såklart samtliga varningssignaler och passade isället på att sitta uppe lite extra länge på nattkvisten och såg därför till att man avslutningsvis fick sig en riktigt kass natts sömn som pricken över i:et.

Så idag känns mitt huvud väldigt kortfattat som en riktigt gammal och torr mandelkubb som kastats ner i asfalten med full kraft och totalt pulveriserats. Och ännu är klockan bara ett på dagen…
Så det är minst sex timmar kvar som ska överstökas innan jag själv kan störtdyka ner i min egen säng och be om förlåtelse för mina synder. Så fram till dess får jag väl förlita mig på att en balja kaffe och en karta Treo gör susen.

yes, in for a pound.  i’m jumping off the virtual cliff next week and heaven help me.  i am switching from being a die-hard palm user (palm pilot, tx, treo and a bunch in between from the very 1st to the very last) and next friday will become an early adapter on the new verizon droid.  i’ve been waiting a long time.  and i was waiting for verizon to get the new palm pre – even tho i recognized that this new palm software was completely different in every way than what i had used for years.  once i wrapped my head around that, i started thinking about really switching systems altogether.  but i would not go to at&t or sprint – both have horrible coverage and/or service and if you’re complaining about these things here in new york city, then you’re really in trouble once you leave the land of cell phone nirvana. 

i am very very very picky about my technology.  i spend a lot of time thinking about just what i need and how to find the programs to make that happen.  i have an extensive and well-organized selection of memos from my palm desktop that i will need to rethink – how to get them on my new phone and with what program?  i have to get used to outlook – always been on a palm desktop.  luckily the program pocketcopy did exactly what it was supposed to do (as i held my breath) and transferred years and years and years of contacts and calendar and notes to my new outlook.  (i refuse to use my company’s exchange/calendar.  there is simply no reason to have any corporation know that much about you.)  and this phone has a real keyboard.  try as i might, i cannot type on a virtual keyboard.

so i’m jumping into the android pool.  except i’m expecting it to be an ocean.  my head is swimming – ha ha …i guess pun intended!

I don't care what device you use, just get a device

If you’re reading this little post, then you are probably not one of my intended targets. You, of course, are welcome to read on, though.  Managing one of the largest and best offices in Northern Virginia, I see a lot of interesting things. One of these things that continues to surprise me is that there are still some Realtors that do not have PDAs, iPhones, Treos, Blackberrys or whatever device you want to call it.

Okay, people, in this day and age, although we do not want to be tethered to a computer or an iPhone or Blackberry, there are many instances in the daily lives of Realtors where you need to be contacted, either by voice or by e-mail.  It’s as simple as that.  Realtors cannot afford to be incognito or running around as secret agents. We also are not masters of our own time despite most Realtors getting into the biz so they can make their own schedules and have their own time, all the time. Yeah, right.  (In a piece to come, I’ll write about scheduling and time management, but for now, let’s put that to the side.)

So here are two great reasons for Realtors to have devices that allow them to contact and to be contacted:

1. In the morning, the settlement company, which does everything via e-mail, sends you the HUD-1 for your biggest client’s settlement. You’re settling  at 3 pm.  Your client needs to get a cashier’s check prior to settlement. Of course they should also call you to verify receipt, but they don’t. The information has been sent and you have no idea that it is sitting in your Inbox.  Both you and your client are oblivious to the fact that the information you need is hanging out in the airwaves.  The clock is ticking. Tick tock, tick tock.  All you had to do was own a PDA, any PDA. But you don’t. Oh well.  I hope you remember to call and check in.
2. Here’s another scenario. Your sellers are out of town and the toilet overflows and ruins the floors of the bathroom and the kitchen below. There’s tons of damage as you see upon your check-up on the property. Wouldn’t it be nice to snap a quick picture and e-mail it to your client? Wouldn’t they find that useful?  But you can’t. So you drive back to your office, get your camera, drive BACK to the property, take a picture. Drive BACK to your office, upload the picture and e-mail it to your client.  I think you just wasted valuable time, gas and energy, not to mention the pollution you threw up into the sky with all of that driving.

Wouldn’t life be simpler if you just gave in? I know what you’re thinking: I don’t always want to be reachable. My answer is this, just because you have the device on in your pocket doesn’t mean that you have to answer every call or e-mail that comes in. Be selective. You do have a life and you need to set boundaries. Now at least you have an option. It’s no longer I don’t have the ability to check e-mail. It’s I choose to not check my e-mail right now.

There are many other advantages as well, such as GPS, in addition to my favorites of Facebook, TweetDeck and the Coldwell Banker iPhone app. And did I mention YouTube? But I digress.  Get your device and be happy you did it. You’re only 5- 7  years late so there’s still time to catch up. (Did I say that out loud?)

I love technology. I’ll be the first to admit that I am a geek. I love the power of information at my fingertips. 10 years ago I got my first laptop with a dial up modem. I would patiently wait for two minutes listening to the modem squawk hoping to hear the words: “You’ve got mail!

Now I have the power of Wikipedia at my fingertips everywhere I go. I can download a map of my location instantly. I can even update my blog when I have time to(like right now), not just when I am in front of a computer.

Here is my recollection of some of my technology firsts:

-My first portable radio(it looked like an autobot symbol from the transformers) I would go to bed and listen to Dr Demento at night with it.

-My first walkman which got me through my first job as a grounds keeper as well as high school.

-My first CD, Billy Joel – Piano Man

- My first computer (not my family’s, but my own) the laptop that I described above.

-My first mobile phone was a motorola flip phone that reminded me of the communicator from the original Star Trek series.

-My first Mac was an iMac that opened the world of personal computing for me.

-My first iPod which I still use today.

-My first smart phone a Palm Treo which organized my life for me.

It has been said that outside of Warp speed space travel and teleportation we have developed all the technology from the original Star Trek series. If that is true it boggles my mind what the future has in store…

Nuförtiden räcker det med ett glas vin eller två för att det ska snurra till ordentligt. Flickan som aldrig var någon partygirl i sin ungdom har om möjligt regredierat ytterligare efter 30…5.

Och det är när jag ser sådant här som jag undrar om jag inte ska bli helnykterist. Framförallt ska jag hålla mig från flaskan inför söndagens veckohandling på ICA Maxi vilket inte verkar ha slagit den här killen in. Stackarn, han kommer att behöva sätta i sig en hel tub Treo på måndagen för att lindra de värsta efterdyningarna.

i slipped up today.  i was at an early morning appointment with a customer who i have been working with for a long time now.  we were discussing when his husband was returning from a long out-of-town trip so that we could schedule some showings in a few weeks.  standing on the street as people hurried past us toward the subway, we were filled with a little exhilaration about the possibilities of what we had just seen and the good feeling that we would all together be able to put ‘boots to the ground’ for a push in showings once his husband returned.  i turned on my treo and went to my calendar and flipped the date forward two weeks to october 26th – the first date we could all go out together – and said, without thinking: “oh, that’s my anniversary!”.  instantly the response came back: “how sweet, congratulations!”  and i found myself saying: “oh no, not that anniversary; my cancer anniversary.”

looking into his eyes i realized that he did not know.  i always think everyone knows.  i thought it was written across my face and my psyche for the past almost-4 years.  leaving behind the memory of my reflection sans hair in every store window i passed for a year doesn’t fade quickly.  i am only just catching up to processing the acres of time i spent laying in bed willing time to go by: sometimes so that i could get to the next anti-nausea pill or sometimes so i could get to the next pain killer (oh that taxol!) or sometimes so i could get to the end of the day just to put that day behind me.  i had to become a new person – not necessarily a better one…just a different one – to be able to talk to people while i was ‘in the process’.  the new one looked fragile but tried to not act it.  looked sick and tried to find a few funny lines to help shrug off the visuals and the assumptions.  moved like a frail old woman and tried to replace fitness with slowly lunking along my brooklyn streets and coming up with potential cancer song-parody lines. 

i know, you’d think that almost-4 years is a long time.  it is and it isn’t.  it’s just enough time to start to come out of the shell-shock of it all.  i’d say that happened for me around three years – and remember that 10 months of the 1st year were taken up with surgery then chemotherapy then radiation then a month of essentially sleeping all the time.  for the past year i have highs where my heart can’t remember for a few fleeting moments that any of it ever happened and then deep lows where i am reminded that i learned the real lesson and cliche that life truely turns on a dime.  it all changes in a moment with no notice.  those are moments of deep terror both in anticipation of what might come and to try to come to terms with the precipice on which i found myself standing.  the possiblity of losing my family and them losing me. 

i looked straight into his eyes.  ‘breast cancer.  almost 4 years ago.  i thought you knew.’  ‘no, i didn’t realize’ came back the reply as his eyes tried to find a focus on me that i saw changed what he had seen up til now.  ‘it’s a good thing’, i said.  ‘that was 4 years ago.’  i smiled.  ‘here i am!’

Det visar sig att Sophia har undanhållit viss betydelsefull information. Som tur är lyser hennes mans ögon av stolthet när han berättar: “Sophia ska lära sig pole dancing”.

Jag är förstummad. Utan mig??! Om det är någon som behöver addera lite sex appeal till sin koreografi och rörelsemönster så är det väl ändå jag? Men blir jag inte medbjuden så tänker jag öva i det tysta. Jag ska förstumma världen när jag dyker upp 12 cm klackar, hotpants i guld och slingrar mig förföriskt kring ledstången på Blue Moon Bar eller varhelst det finns en stång med tillräcklig bärkraft.

Och så ska jag sluta äta Treo. En strippa med fläcktyfus är knappast något jag tror efterfrågas med dagens influensahysteri.

En atletisk åkomma benämnd som pole bruising.

Okay, so lets disclaim a few exceptions before continuing with this article:

1. I have a love/hate relationship with technological advancement.  Once I invest myself in a particular piece of technology, I have a tendency to wear the bastard out, well beyond its expected date of obsolescence.
2. The Treo 650 was one of the most advanced phones on the market at the point when I purchased it (costing me $450.00 after the $200 rebate for signing a contract).
3. I don’t really use advanced data features on my phone, even tho I had access to those capabilities when I bought the 650.

So all that being said, I have to say, I’m thoroughly disappointed with Palm.  Perhaps its an obvious conclusion, but when I bought the 650, I was promised that I was going to be on the bleeding edge of technological advancement for many years to come.   Given my stubbornness when it comes to ditching old technology, I believed this up until last week.

Last week, the 650 finally died on me after almost 4 years of dedicated (perhaps dysfunctional) service.   I spent much of its life explaining to people how to use my phone, even tho I became quite smooth in its operation.

I bought an LG NV3 as my replacement for the following reasons:

1. I only text and talk.  I’m so into the web at work and home that I don’t need it when I’m not at either of those places. I don’t tweet, and I Facebook only when others Facebook me.
2. I didn’t need a 20 lb. brick in my pocket anymore.
3. I still wanted to maintain access to QWERTY keyboard, and the NV3’s keyboard is more accessible than the 650.

But those are just technical reasons.  My eyes were finally opened once I started to use the NV3.   I was blown away with how easy the user experience is, and how little explanation I had to give to my brother on how to use it (my brother is a farmer who’s technological know-how expands no farther than his stereo, iTunes and automated watering systems).

The interface is fast, interesting and reliable.  One key access to voice recording, voice dial, speed dial and photos doesn’t require it be opened.  The contact list if far more searchable, and texting is two steps from start to finish.

The Treo was far more complicated.  The only feature that was similar was single button speed dials.  Other than that, I would constantly find that when I would access the phone I’d be in some random app that I didn’t use.  Accessing the contacts is quick, but writing text messages requires at least a minor in Computer Science to figure out.  Additionally, accessing the data on the phone from the computer is nightmare.

This all was quite a shock to me, considering that at the end of the day after rebates, the NV3 costs about $75.00, and the Treo 700 (650 doesn’t appear to be available anymore) still hangs around a $500.00 price point.

The point being, price is not an indicator of value.  Buy and NV3 if you don’t need/want the internet, it’s worth the price.

Skulle ha gjort mycket idag, men det blev inget. Fastnade framför datorn. Det är ett elände det är ett elände, det säger jag bara.

Vädret är ju egentligen sånt som jag gillar. Blåser kraftigt, löven yr, ändå är det lagom varmt eller kallt ute ( hur man nu vill se det). Perfekt för promenad och fotografering. Ångrar att jag stannade inne. Men jag fryser trots att det är varmt här inne, så jag värmer mig med min dator För 22 grader inomhus är väl inte kallt, eller.  Borde göra som Citronmuffin ( en blogg som man lätt blir beroende av),Men jag gillar varken varmchoklad, te eller kaffe och Coca Cola värkar inte så mysigt när man fryser.  Så jag tar en treo, tar bort smärta, vilket jag ofta har, febern motas bort med det samma, och lirkar fram  lite depression med. Det är preci som kinderägg.

C’mon who really wants to type out a whole word these days in the land of quick easy shortcuts? Enter smart words. Using smart words you can increase your productivity saving the time needed to complete those few extra keystrokes. You laugh, but for those commonly used phrases, smart words are going to save you precious minutes everyday. Minutes, turn to hours, hours turn to days, and days turn to…well you get the point.

In Microsoft Word, which also translates across the entire Microsoft Office Suite, go to Tools/AutoCorrect Options, type the smart word beneath “Replace:,” the desired full text beneath “With:” and click “Add.”

Similar features are also available on your Blackberry, Treo and most smartphones.

Check out some examples I use frequently:
– bc = because
– bf = before
– bt = between
– em = email
– plz = please
– qty = quantity
– rta = reply to all
– thx = thanks
– ty = thank you

As you come across words or phrases you use frequently make note to add them to your custom smart word dictionary.

While traveling and communicating through my smartphone I find this process to save me an extreme amount of time as I peck away at the pint sized keyboard.
