Back in the day, the hottest “Bonnie and Clyde” duo in Southern hip hop was Trick Daddy and Trina. For a little while, they ruled the charts. The dynamic duo is probably best-known for their 2000 hit, “Take it to The House,” but they also did such songs as “Nann Nigga.”

Over time, Trick Daddy rose to become one of rap’s more popular artists. At the same time, Trina was becoming a star in her own right. As a result, their schedules became too hectic for the two to collaborate the way that they once did.

Then, last year, Trick Daddy announced that he was leaving the house that he had helped to build a decade earlier at Slip-N-Slide Records. Since that time, he has released one album, but it did not sell the number of records that his Slip-N-Slide albums did. Perhaps, realizing this, Trick wants to return to the formula.

As of late, hip hop seems to be full of reunions. Things have changed so much that they are almost going back to the way that they used to be. Trick Daddy plans to continue this trend because he is ready to reunite with his former Bonnie, Trina. Earlier today, AllHipHop.com reported that Trick was interested in working with Trina again.

Trina’s camp has yet to respond to this news.

In 2007, Trick Daddy left Slip-N-Slide Records, the house that he helped build. He was rumored to be leaving the label, ironically for G-Unit South with Young Buck, or Murder Inc. South. It was ironic because of the bitter feud between G-Unit and Murder Inc.

The bidding war became a bit too much for Trick, so he signed with his own Dunk Ryders Records. The group’s first single, “F*ck Tha Other Side,” was a top 20 hit and their album was released in November of 2008. Trick Daddy has decided to keep his new ventures completely independent.

After the Dunk Ryders’ release, the big release came earlier this month. Trick Daddy released his eighth studio album and his first with his new label. His latest album, Finally Famous: Born a Thug, Still a Thug, was released on September 15. The album sold 13,000 in its first week, debuting at #34 on the Billboard 200.

While his exposure is not as wide as it once was, Trick Daddy is still making good music. Many look at his sales and call it a failure, but because he keeps the money to himself, Trick Daddy calls it a success. His album is currently in local retail stores for those interested.

Jay-Z sits strongly on his throne for his last week as Blueprint 3 moved 297,900, a total of 774,000 albums sold.

KiD CuDi’s debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day, sold 103,900 copies and enters the charts at #4.

Drake’s So Far Gone checks in at #6 with 73,000 copies sold, very promising for his future releases since this project was initially a free mixtape.

Lil Boosie (#7) also did strong numbers (48,800.)

KRS-One and Buckshot: 8,400
M.O.P.’s Foundation album is said to have sold 2,100 units.

2nd week sales:
Raekwon: 21,400 (89,000 total sales.)

One t time southern ruler and Miami’s favorite Hip-Hop son Trick Daddy dropped his eighth album this week. Going the independent route after launching his own label Dunk Ryder Records, the lyrical explosion mixed with harsh street tales of survival in entitled Finally Famous. Speaking with Hip-Hop Wired, Mr. 305 stated,

“It’s the same Trick Daddy you hear on all my albums. I’m still representing what I always have, the struggle, the streets, the thugs. It’s a new game out now called “Tattling” where niggas is snitching and getting their time cut and it’s very contagious and I’m talking a lot about that up there. I’m doing me now. I am the boss on this project. I totally control everything now but I’m still definitely doing my thug thizzle.”

Trick is already tearing up the streets with several songs from the album including “Why They Jock” and the Rick Ross diss, “This Is The Shit That I Live.”

As previously reported, Trick will also be releasing his autobiography later this year called “Magic City: Trials Of A Native Son” through MTV Books. In addition he got his acting on in the upcoming films Just Another Day. The film will also star “The Wire’s” Wood Harris and Jamie Hector as well Lil Scrappy, Big Daddy Kane, Esther Baxter, Petey Pablo and Big Daddy Kane.
