Plug Plug: Presentación de Trinitrón (Por Patty Ló)

El viernes tuve mi salida después de un par de semanas de estudio y después de perderme la presentación de Trinitrón mi primera parada fue el Oso bar de Miraflores a ganarme con el show de solo temas nuevos de Plug Plug.

Estos son una banda relativamente nueva – 1 año de formación – que sin embargo a atraído una buena cantidad de público a sus filas por su performance tanto en la creación de temas como en vivo (la cual, alguna veces divertida, alguna veces jodida, es imposible de no tomarle atención) los cuales los trasforma en una especie de híbrido entre un punk post con una utilización de efectos que no abusan. Para mi tienen un equilibrio fundamental contando con un baterista que es un metrónomo vivo (Sandro Labenita – Histeria Kolectiva), un bajista que es un maestro en lo suyo y es la base rítmica de la mayoría de canciones (Kamilo Riveros – Pura Mer-K, El Aire, Héroe Inocente y muchos más-) y un guitarra/vocal (Garzo – Metamorphosis- que hace el conjunto de sus funciones de una manera completa y jocosa con el juego de punteos y vocalización.

Plug Plug: Temas Nuevos (05/09/08)

Plug Plug a ganado terreno rápido y si bien salta a la suspicacia si ese público no es resultado de tener tres personajes de bandas consagradas, no se puede negar que la mayoria de público -a fin o no a anteriores proyectos – los a visto como lo más interesante de la nueva movida rock and roll.

Fuera de eso me parece una banda con huevos, es una de los pocos combos políticamente incorrectos a la hora de llevar la promoción de su banda: como ya mencioné sus show pueden ser buenos o abruptamente terminados mal, a lo que se agrega sacar un disco y en lugar de promocionar esos temas mandarse a tocar temas nuevos en todos sus show y lo peor SOLO tocar temas nuevos A PENAS SACADO UN DISCO . Atípico en nuestro medio.

Fue por eso que me gusto el viernes.

El Oso bar es un local chico pero que sirve muy bien de refugio para propuestas como estas, sus instalaciones acogen bien con su música desde al más entendido al más al más despreocupado que entra a sapear. Eso ayuda pero a la vez presiona.

Plug Plug quizá fallo en eso, la organización. Fueron precedidos por tres bandas que destacaron por si solas (el dúo Piloto Copiloto que a pesar de ser nuevos tiene una propuesta simple pero bestial, Kinder que los vi distintos, menos dream y más in, y The Satellite que, si bien tocaron algo improvisados – llegaron tarde – y tocaron dos temas, fue reconfortante escuchar su post rock. Tres bandas que por su logística necesitan tiempo de instalación y movimiento, los cual al final le pasó factura al trío el cual solamente toco 5 temas.

Pero bueno, en conjunto no fue un concierto malo y Plug Plug lo valió a pesar del poco tiempo tocado, veamos y analicemos qué onda con los temas nuevos.

Sandro alguna vez me dijo que lo que venia después de Trinitrón era muy distinto, que quizá eso chocaría a los que ya los siguen. El viernes vi lo contrario, no son antónimos sino son más complejos.
Los temas aún tienen la misma estructura que los caracteriza pero los juegos de guitarra han tomado más protagonismo y la extensión en la duración de temas es un factor que denota lo capos que llegan a ser para mantener la ilación (algo así se vio en el agregado de Sumer Boy del disco, más larga del demo que conocemos) . Entre los nuevos reconocimos a Tambores y She, siendo los dos últimos temas los que me llamaron más la atención: uno guitarrero y felling que pareció romántico – sí, ya sé, hablo huevadas- por su estructura y el último divertido, no lento ni rápido, y completo.
Claro, con esta pequeña muestra no puedo sentenciar que la siguiente etapa de Plug Plug será así, pero con lo poco enseñado vi que Sandro no tiene porque preocuparse: El crecer no duele y el futuro siempre es mucho mejor si lo sientes. Ahora a darle nomás.

Oh boy!, It’s practically been a busy shopping time in my home past 2 weeks. But I should admit it was not just like any other times.

We have been holding on to a standard Onida 21″ TV which is quite out of date now. We have been longing since several months to ‘upgrade’ it but was just looking for some excuse (since the Onida was in excellently good form even after about 18 years of operation God, I love the quality of the products of those times :|).

Well at last the wait was over, one fine day, my mom and dad decided to make the move. They call me up on that day (it turned out to be a Friday) evening and asked if I was fine with a ‘29″ Sony flat TV’. and, they continued if I was okay with a ‘Phillips DVD player’. I thought “well fine, since the names are well known and I know there would have been a research went on behind the scenes, it should be okay”. and I wouldn’t do less than agreeing to that, but I was too curious to play with that in detail. I traveled to home immediately without any hesitation.

When I reached home I could see a majestic ‘Sony Wega 29″ (Trinitron)”‘ sitting on the table. The reason i’m excited about this is because of the legendary Trinitron technology which you would appreciate if you have come across this brief history.

Next comes the ‘Phillips DVP5150 with Progressive scan‘ which is quite state of the art with excellent support that extends till DivX, Xvid, etc… Now I don’t have to worry about converting my DVD rips to again DVDs, but just could play it with this beauty!

All this happened two weeks back (during my last visit to my hometown) From then on, it’s quite different experience I get when I watch shows/ movie in our new TV. Yes, I know these are the ‘top class’ available in the market but who cares, as long as you fulfill your delights and you are happy – it should be fine! Though there are aspirations for a LCD + Home Theatre setup , I would have to resist that decision myself till sometime in the future.

Rest assured, seems this summer will be ‘well spent’ at home!

Recuerdo haber tenido más de dos televisores Trinitron en casa, aún tengo uno, el control remoto no se donde estará pero la tele sigue funcionando normalmente. Después de 40 años la marca Sony ha decidido no fabricar más este tipo de televisores con el famoso sistema de tubo de rejilla, obteniendo mejor brillo y contraste en las imágenes, me imagino que en ese tiempo debió haber sido un boom.

Un dato importante, Sony hasta ahora ha vendido más de 280 millones de televisores de este modelo, que ha tenido o tuvo una gran aceptación como su novedoso Walkman o Playstation que todos conocemos.

Lo único que puede decir es que la tecnología avanza a grandes pasos, ahora uno compra un aparato y al siguiente mes aparece otro con diferentes características. Así que si desean tener uno de estos televisores para recuerdo aún están a tiempo, ya que se fabricarán hasta este mes.

Due to stiff price competition, sources (Var Business) is reporting that Sony will exit the desktop display market. This is a shame as I just recently purchased a very aggressively priced but really great-looking SDM-HS75 17″ LCD monitor. IT resellers are saying that Sony has begun notifying them about the exit. Of course, Sony will continue supplying and beating the crap out of others in the TV space.

Sony has a long history with the desktop display market. Sony was the first to move toward flat with its Trinitron tubes that were at least vertically flat. Then they moved to vertically and horizontally flat Trinitron tubes. What a beautiful screen those produced! They have also designed some really great-looking LCD monitors recently, my very own SDM-HS75 being one of them. Although Rhoda Alexander from iSuppli, a market research firm, stated that the market is “cost competitive and commoditized” what market isn’t? I think there is a place for Sony: higher-end with great design. The MP3 market is cost competitive and commoditized, but Apple sells expensive units and lots of them with great profit margins. Notebooks, desktop PCs, PDAs, you name it, they are all cost competitive and commoditized.

Sony SDM-HS75/B 17″ LCD Monitor

I think Sony should stick around and gives us snobs some great-looking LCD monitors for a few more bucks than the regular HP or Dell. I, for one, would pay more for something that looks good and functions well.
