This big largemouth bass hole is way back in Sand Bay & can be full of largemouth & smallmouth bass at times that readily take surface lures. We have taken a lot of really big largemouth in this area so fish it throughly & especially way bay at the end where the creek runs into it as big largemouth sometimes hold in this warm shallow water. Also know that a nine pound smallmouth was caught in Sand Bay on a live crayfish fished 35 foot deep by the Windmill Cottage. It was taken two days before bass season opened & had to be released.

Years ago a fishermen that used to stay at Key Harbour Lodge told us all about The Walleye Spawning

Years ago a fishermen that used to stay at Key Harbour Lodge told us all about The Walleye Spawning Grounds & allowed us to go fishing there with him in his boat.

He had an eighteen foot big lake boat with ten horse power trolling motor & down riggers hooked up.

He carried cases of Helin Flatfish in his boat & that is all he used in Georgian Bay period as did many of the best big musky fishermen of the time.

I was brought up bass fishing with the F-7 yellow flatfish with swivel & two treble hooks & red & black dots.

We would put a split shot eighteen inches ahead of the lure & it would absolutely murder smallmouth bass in Southern Ohio Creeks.

I caught, scaled, cleaned, cooked & ate the World Record Rock Bass that I personally caught with this lure & had no idea I did that until several years later when I was looking up world record fish in Sports Afield Magazine.

The record rock bass was only 2lbs. 2 ozs. & the one I ate was 3 & 1/2 pounds & all black from old age.

All the witnesses are now dead so you will just have to take my word on it or simply dis-believe.

The old time Flatfish fisherman showed us how to take the swivel hooks off & then put a single hook in the end of the lure to put a piece of nightcrawler on.

He would use a three way swivel & attach a heavy sinker that would drag along the solid rock bottom & keep the Flatfish a foot or less off the bottom.

He would let it down to the bottom & then troll backwards with his boat in reverse gear very slow.

He would do this going into the wind.

He would hook a nice yellow pickerel every thirty feet or so & had his limit in less than an hour & took us back to Key Harbour Lodge.

Since that time I have personally caught & released hundreds of yellow pickerel using this deadly method in The Old Walleye Spawning Grounds.

The small floating Rapalas also do well using this bottom trolling rig back trolled into the wind & also Mr. Twister Grubs.

The Walleye Spawning Grounds used to be a hot area for Big Yellow Pickerel & Pike not to mention hundreds of trophy smallmouth bass.

To get there you have to go through quite a few shoals so it is best to get someone to follow the first time you go by yourself.

The unique thing about this area is the banks are relatively flat & you can walk around & fish off the banks much easier than many other areas of Georgian Bay.

There are also largemouth bass back in the creeks that run into the spawning grounds & also in The Henvey Inlet where the spawning grounds is located.

One man caught a 28 pound pike almost every year he fished this area & he kept the locations secret.

I fished The Henvey Inlet all the way to the road one time & we caught a lot of really big largemouth bass on Rapalas & the perch color seemed to work the best.

Try this area out if you get a chance as it can be some of the best fishing in this area at certain times & one of the best big pike areas of the entire Georgian Bay.

Go way back in & up the creeks that feed the spawning grounds & there you will find largemouth in the deep warm water holes.

If the water is real low the spawning grounds is not as good as when the water is up high.

Troll the mouth of the area where Henvey Inlet dumps into Georgian Bay as there you will occasionally find really big muskie & pike.

Fish & troll along the steep deep cliff faces & rocks for big smallmouth & pike.

This is the best fly fishing area around as the banks are flat & smooth in the spawning grounds & perfect for long backcast.

You can get a lot of nice pike & smallmouth fly fishing there & you can do that walking around on the flat rock banks.

You will also find flat camping spots here & plenty of black bears.

This is a large area that would take many years to explore throughly.

I basically just touched on it & have only been there several times over the years.

Each time we caught plenty of smallmouth, yellow pickerel & pike plus a few largemouth.

Long before Fritts & I started to fish for largemouth bass in this area we used to troll Rapalas

Long before Fritts & I started to fish for largemouth bass in this area we used to troll Rapalas & Daredevils from sun-up to sun-down & do this all over the area.

I had a very light & shallow twelve foot Sea Nymph boat at the time & 9.5 H.P. Johnson Motor.

The fishing was really slow that whole week as we had gone in the middle of the hot month of August which is not the best time to fish this area.

We had a good time irregardless as The Georgian Bay is absolutely beautiful & rewarding whether one catches fish or not.

The very day we were scheduled to leave we packed up the boats & headed out towards the bay.

It was our custom to troll Rapalas all the way back to the road.

We got a half mile up the bay & started hooking one large pike after another in the ten pound range.

Evidently a large school was moving into the area off the big water as we were leaving.

Fritts was at least a half mile ahead of me & I was trolling a middle sized silver & black floating Rapala that ran shallow along the rocks & shoals of the bay that lead to our campsite.

I did not use a wire leader hoping to catch a yellow pickerel to take home for family food.

When I went around a rock that was in my path & swung the boat to the left I thought I snagged up on the shoal I was trolling over so I put my motor in neutral gear & pulled back on my rod & then this huge pike that looked to be at least five or six feet long took off to the races & headed for the deep water of this bay with me & my little boat being towed by him.

I only had fifteen pound line & no wire leader & my heart was racing as I had never hooked anything this large before.

He went down deep & got into a large sunken weed bed & took on more weight for me to try & handle.

I hung on for a half hour or so & Fritts had kept on going & had the only landing net in his boat.

A canoeist passing by stopped to help me try & land this fish which simply hugged to the bottom in 15 to 20 feet of weed filled water & sat there.

The water was clear & we could see him down there & estimated his length at 5 to 6 feet.

After about an hour I started to pull & tug hoping to get him out of the weeds & up to where I could get him near the boat & the canoe so one of us could grab him & pull him over the side into the boat or canoe.

He finally started to come up & when he was two feet from the surface the line slacked & he was gone.

The line broke where it was tied to the eye of the Rapala & that was it.

Fritts missed the whole thing & to the day he died he figured I was lying about the whole affair.

I don’t know who the guy was in the canoe but if you are still out there & remember this let me know.

That pike could have been the Canadian record for sure.

It had to be over forty pounds & much longer than the twenty to twenty-five pounders routinely caught in this area.

I caught & released a thirty-three pound pike & this one was much larger & stronger.

I will never get over that feeling I had when the line went slack & I knew I had hooked & lost the fish of a lifetime.

Especially so when my friend was not there to witness it & fluffed it off as just another worn out fishing story.

The Indian guide Ivan had warned us to never use less than twenty pound line & always use a wire leader.

Now I know why.

Some interesting things I noticed in today’s blog searching…

There’s always the random weird hits of course, completely unrelated. But the one topping the list today caught my eye. snazzy_bagels is checking out my blog now? True, I mentioned her in this post, but only referring to a few posts she’d made in goms_sux; the focus was on certain individuals’ replies to said posts (certain individuals who, no longer being a part of milfs, shall remain henceforth nameless and unmentioned). Anyway, I didn’t say anything bad about snazzy_bagels, I don’t think… but what strikes me curious here is here she is checking into my blog, quite out of the blue, searching her own username, and is a friend of that previously mentioned unnamed former milf. What’s curious about that, of course, is that there are, within amputee_milfs, a number of sock puppets. Could one, in fact, be Ms. snazzy_bagels? This bears investigating.

I mean, it could just be the obvious explanation, but that’s never any fun. The great thing about the lack of any reliable communication I get from the milfs is that I am entirely free to draw my own conclusions, and act upon them, regardless of what they may be. I’m not limited by things as trivial as Terms of Service agreements, or reality.

Another unrelated, but kinda cool point about snazzy_bagels… she and I share a birthday Of course, she was born the day I turned 15, but the same day, anyway. So I can add her to my list of people I know of that share my birthday. And, sorry snazzy_bagels, but Eminem is still my favorite.

And you see that other search? ”yummy tasty meat”? Undoubtedly milfs, since, as we know, none of them can resist the BLT meat. *sigh* Very well, dears, here it is, yet again. Fap to your heart’s content. I’m not shy. I know you’ve all drooled all over pics of it. 108 posts and 4000 comments worth of drool… heheh.

Also interesting… I got a number of hits today from Facebook. That’s interesting because I don’t have a link to this blog on my Facebook account.

Apparently, though… somebody does…

You know when something is so so so hyped up, and has been talked about for so long as being one of

You know when something is so so so hyped up, and has been talked about for so long as being one of the pinnacles, nay, one of the defining cultural moments of your generation, and for all intensive purposes you know nothing of what is actually being talked about, and as such feel completely out of the loop and isolated whenever anyone begins rambling on about said cultural milestone, and are therefore forced to engage with the topic to broaden your learnedness (wankwankwank) and become evermoreso culturally astute. Well, what would be the reason that, for instance, you felt absolutely no need whatsoever to learn anything about said milestone?

Well, i’m glad you asked rhetorical question generator!

Could it be, in fact, that you actually already know every major detail relating to the storyboard of this so-called masterpiece? Could it be that (if, the instance that we are discussing was, perchance, a motion picture…) the plot is actually so so shallow, and so poorly devised, that the most interesting nuance of this cult, is how quickly and with such fervor, the HYPE developed around it, and not the actual motion-picture itself?

Is this incredibly depressing?

Is this awesome, that people needn’t actually make good concepts to make lots of money?

Is there any point in me being vague, we all know i’m talking about Twilight.

So, what you’ve heard IS true. Last night I did watch Twielight, and at the risk of sounding like a complete cynic (fuckit, who am I kidding) i’m going to break the movie down into both positive and negative aspects that i’ve been able to garner from having watched the film (in it’s entirety!) a mere 10 hours ago. So here goes:

PROS:

Street Cred:
I can say that i’ve watched Twilite now. I don’t have to lie to mildly intoxicated girls at bars about my sexuality (no homo) to seem interesting, instead, I can just spill some Twifacts, and they’ll dig me, won’t they?

Robert Pattinson:
I won’t lie to you, he’s a good looking dude, and easily the least-vomit-inducing display of acting in the movie, and now I have someone to style my summer dress code after: stupidly pale skin, unruly brown hair, rugged good-lookingness… Oh well, two outta three ain’t bad.

Radiohead:
‘15 Step’ was the song to take the movie into its credits. In fact, this was probably the high-point of the film for me. … ….(racks brain) … ….No, no i’m right, that was actually the part of the movie I enjoyed the most.

CONS:

The Script:
Okay, i’ve read one page of the novel that Trylight was a cinematic remake of (clearly a literary canon candidate), and to be honest I was unimpressed. The adjectives were ill-fitting, the sentence structure was/were/will be worse than mine, and in terms of clarity, it was clearly geared for the lowest common denominator. The movie on the other hand, i’m not quite sure how to describe. Fuck, that was just plain horrible. I would have rather read the Kyle Sandilands autobiography that have had to proofread that much copy. Did nobody ever think to use some simple cinematic techniques to convey ‘brooding scene #3547′ or ’school stereotype perpetuation scene #4′ rather than having some poorly developed minor character explain it with such vivid rhetoric and wit (cough) to me? I think not.

Bella:
GET A NEW ‘whats going on? I’m so confused!’ FACE FOR THE SAKE OF MY EYES!

Cinematography/Lighting:
Possibly the most annoying part of Wilight, and the sore that sticks out most vividly in my restless Twi-mind, is how one could squander so much potential for such a visually-awesome film and turn it into such a half-assed attempt at being set in the woods with ground cover and smoke (ooh how original). I really don’t even think I would’ve cared if some of the lighting rigs made it into the shots in the final-cut, if it were only to prove there was actually some concerted effort at lighting the film properly. It was just so gosh-darn average. ‘The Office’ should have everything lit at f/9, not a fricken vampire movie. For all 90 (ish) minutes that I was riveted (cough) to the film plane, there were about 3 scenes (i’m giving the benefit of the doubt on one scene here) that were lit with some sort of interest and made me think they had hired a DP with some knowledge of the fundamentals of his craft. I’m not going to go into any sort of beautiful verbose detail here as to why I’m so ticked off by the film, visually, because I’d rather like you to make it to the end of this post, but ask me in person, prepare to be bored for days unending.

Bella:
Oh, i’m sorry, did I say Bella already?

Look, to be frank I can’t be arsed writing anything else about what was not what I might call a highlight of my life, and I’m running out of ways to misspell Twitight. I’ve got nothing against you if you do like it, because clearly we just have different tastes. For what it’s worth, i’ve seen far worse films (anyone for ‘Waiting…’?), but this steaming excuse for making Robert Pattinson a famous Twactor will not be making it onto my top films list any time soon.

For the record, i’m seeing New Moon tonight. Will report back, hopefully unscathed.

My Uncle Pete — uh, my step-Uncle Pete. . . Shit. Your mom’s sister’s husband is

My Uncle Pete — uh, my step-Uncle Pete. . . Shit. Your mom’s sister’s husband is your uncle, but what if she divorces and remarries? Step-uncle, right? I’ll start over.

I did a BUNCH of camping and fishing as a kid, and found that different people have different approaches to both. The same summer I discovered Quiet Riot (“Metal health will drive you MAD!!”), my cousin Chad and I went camping with my aunt and her newish husband, Pete. Pete didn’t like me. Or Chad either, really. But he was trying to make nice, I have to give him that much. Pete was a camper camper, as opposed to a tent camper. Me? Even now, as old and fragile as I’ve become, I much prefer sleeping in a tent, close to the ground. So, the first night, Chad and I stayed up all night, burning up all the fire wood. Pete was, to put it mildly, unhappy about this the next day. Chad and I spent a good two hours that morning gathering wood for that night’s fire, and we weren’t allowed anywhere near the fire anymore either.

That afternoon, Chad and I caught a few crappie, and that night was the last time in my life I ever tried to clean a fish. I had this crappie that had been out of water for better than two hours. I decide to descale it first, as I had been taught, by taking the back of my fish knife and scrubbing it against the scales, which would cause them to pop off, easy as pie. So imagine my surprise when the fish fought back! It scared me almost completely to death, and I didn’t end up actually eating any fish the rest of that trip.

That evening, toward sunset, we were out on the lake in Pete’s little out-board, trolling. To me, this wasn’t fishing. But it was nice and peaceful, tooling around the lake and catching a fish almost every ninety seconds or so. Each new fish we caught was immediately put on the stringer and then gently lowered back into the water, so they wouldn’t die until later, when it was time to cook them. So after we had about two dozen fish on the stringer, Pete realized it was getting dark and made a bee line back to shore. That was the funnest part of the trolling, when he put the hammer down and stood that little boat at attention. I thought, Yeah, we’re boating NOW!!

Pete beached the little boat and we got out and he said, “You guys grab the fish.”

FISH!!

SHIT!!

I ran to the back of the boat and brought up the stringer. There were NO fish on the stringer, as we’d been hauling ass across the lake, and they’d still been in the water. No, what I brought up was a stringer with a couple dozen sets of disembodied fish lips.

I looked at Chad.

Chad looked at me.

We both looked at Pete, who was purple.

I swear, at the exact same second, Chad and I looked back at each other and squealed, “FEEEEESH LEEEEEEPS!!!!!” and proceeded to fall all over each other, laughing too hard to breathe, rolling in the sand, not quite pissing ourselves. This was when we were maybe eleven or twelve years old. Pete finally started talking to us again about three years ago.

Tymczasem chodzi tu o określenie bliższe definicji podstępnego ketmana w rodzaju wodzianny, co to udaje niewiniątko, a cichaczem promuje TW “Must” i atakuje pobłogosławiony portal Frondy.
W błogosferze RP pod trolling podciąga się zwykłe prostackie wypowiedzi okraszone mięsem. Prostactwo to prostactwo.

So now for the first real post of this blog– HAHA DISREGARD THAT

My one day off in this week’s schedule was spent cleaning. Kind of a shame really, I intended to play games all day, and then I ended up cleaning. I had intended to just clean the bedroom and do laundry, and it expanded into the kitchen and main room when I raged at the fact that the floor was a complete mess again no thanks to the cats who won’t stop shitting on the floor. This is being rectified soon hopefully, we’re about short on patience for 3 of the 4 cats here, and although it pains me to have to put an animal down (Ninja) she is old, part of the problem, has problems, and it’s universally accepted that she is not moving to the next apartment with us. I did take the oppurtunity to score some awesome burrito goodness at Moe’s on my way back from Lowes for cleaning supplies, so delicious was had, and some of this week’s anime stack was had. I bought a can of “Spot Shot” and used nearly the entire can on cat barf/shit/piss, other stains I don’t remember where they came from, and anything else on the carpets, used some of this Glade carpet powder stuff you sprinkle on and vacuum up, and went to town in, under, and around couches and chairs and all. The end result was VICTOLY! and hopefully it will last more than 24 hours.

On other fronts, still waiting to hear the verdict on a job I applied and did two interviews for here in Vernon. Hoping the best, but I still have my daily emails from Dice and Careerbuilder, as well as adding RSS feeds for all of CT and two areas of MA of Tech Support jobs on Craigslist to my Thunderbird profile, so still ready to keep rolling the resumes around in case this one doesn’t pan. The interviews seemed to go well, I had no trouble with their little computer scenario things in the second interview, and they seemed to like my answers and my demeanor, but I can’t put all my eggs in one basket just yet, we all know what happened the last few times I did that.

Panera continues to be the same slavery each day, pretty much line only, final destination. On occasion I get slipped to cash, but it’s seldom. I am however enjoying the slight Julio butthurt some of my co-workers are experiencing now as the result of <strike>his blatant disregard for any sort of policy</strike> LOL THIS ISN’T NEW GUYZ, WELCOME TO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HIRE MEXICANS. I like Julio, he’s a decent guy when he doesn’t smell of BO, he’s efficient and works faster than most of us, but none of our Spanish workers care about Panera, they’re there to collect a paycheck. That puts them below even the classiest indifferent guys like me and a couple other guys. Plus he has been there so long that authority means nothing to him, he only listens to one or two of the managers maybe, and positions like ZONE LEADER also mean nothing to him. One you push all your LOL TEAM ORGANIZATION methods out the door, you get a guy who does the job. Period. Aside from the fact he is always late, <strike>I fully support this.</strike> YOU ARE NOT BOSS

Oh, and YOU ARE NOT BOSS is now a Panera-centric meme. Use it liberally.

Last but not least I am attempting to play through Zelda games from NES to Wii, though the latter will probably find me buying it for Wii to play, but probably not for awhile. Currently on the eighth dungeon in LoZ and damn I hate those blue soldiers and their can’t strike them from the front, in a small room, with FUCKING FIRE flying around. Times 5, NES SLOWGA EFFECT, and I CAN’T SEE SHIT. Fucking annoying. Almost want to just skip to LttP, it was more my favorite Zelda anyway.

I also kinda want to play the DK SNES games again, but saving that one for awhile down the road. Don’t want to overload my palette with too much you know, Borderlands and WoW and all.

FUCK DAWG YA MOMMA CAN SNIPE BETTAH THAN YOU!!!

First of all, most of my walls of text operations are slowly coming over here. Hello. Welcome. This will be the new home of such things shortly, as I’ve decided to discontinue updating Livejournal. I am retaining the account of course for reading the remaining friends there (and a couple comms) but the decision to stop using LJ and start using WP stems largely from the fact that I no longer use LJ in the way I once did, most of it’s social networking aspects are now on Facebook and Twitter, and I’ve been using WP for other blogs now for a couple years, so it made sense to me to just leap over and start from scratch again. If you care about the past or such things, you can always hit the LJ and look up old entries, but frankly, they all have to do about times long ago, and I’ve kinda moved past those times really, so I don’t like to read them a whole lot.

Anyway for the topic at hand, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 came out this past week, ironically the day before Veteran’s Day. Nothing like telling Grandpa and your marine buddy that you support the troops by BECOMING A TERRORIST LOL AMIRITE? No, it really has nothing to do with video game violence, this game is like every other shooting simulator and if you as a parent can’t properly parent and teach your children how to separate reality from a game, kill yourself.

No this post is about why I love trolling the consolefriends and 360bros who play this game and continue to shell out 60 bucks for the equivalent of DLC, the kinda shit you download for 10 bucks. You expect a game with the number two on it to be something different, something new, new graphics, new modes, new places, new challenges, but instead you get a slight graphical update, a new campaign that lasts what, 4 hours from what I’m hearing, and largely the same multiplayer? OH BUT I CAN DROP A NUKE WITH A 25 KILL STREAK. /facepalm

I’ve never played CoD. I could very well be talking out of my ass, and that’s fine, because they see me trollan’, but it seems to me that consolefriends get all butthurt when you make fun of their bro game because they know that they continue to overpay for the same damn shit every time, and what other group of gamers does this? Maddenfags. Yep. Every year you buy the same football game with small graphic updates and a new roster, so you can play the same damn football game and trade it in, and where do they end up? In Gamestop’s 5 dollar bargain bin. True story. Yet IGN and all those whackjob “rating” sites give this shit 9.5’s and such because IT’S SUCH A GOOD GAME. No, they give it a 9.5 because their advertisers will pull their ads and crush their shitty site or magazine if they so much as give a “real” rating on a game, like Eidos.

The thing is, the 360 and Live! itself thrives on it’s online community of 12 year olds shouting the n-word in their mic over and over compiled with “your mom” jokes and every other word for penis and vagina. Where the PS3’s userbase is mostly single-player story oriented games, RPG’s, and a few other titles, and the Wii focuses on more physical multiplayer games and younger age games, the 360 focuses on good ol’ American traditions of shooting terrorists (as a military person of course) and futuristic shooting terrorists (as Master Chief of course) and… er… what else do we play on the 360 again? Race cars maybe? Wrasslin’? I forgot. The point is, SHOWING THEM ONLINE is the cornerstone of the system, bros know this, they buy these games to play online and WANT TO BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS, and Activision knows they don’t have to do shit inbetween releases of CoD games besides tweak a few things, make it look a little prettier, and slap a number on it. Kids will still buy it, they are sheep, too concerned with showing their bros that they can fire a virtual sniper rifle better than the others and be king of the dorks.

I admit I am not a huge multiplayer with people person, of the games I play with multiplayer or PvP, I play with mostly people I know, versus just random kids online, because I couldn’t stand to play a game with someone who treats it as if they lose the game, they die or something. Plus the trash talking is just silly, unless you talk like that all the time (protip: white kids wouldn’t be caught dead talking blackanese to an actual black person, myself included) you are just retarded. This is where we do the usual invoking Gabe’s theory of fuckwad blah blah blah but really, it’s true, you give a person the Internet, and they find forty-nine ways to write “shitcock donkey sex”

Anyway, I really just enjoy trolling anyone who would actually wait in line all night for this crap. Then I realize I did that for WoW: Burning Crusade.

Perhaps the next post here will have to do with something other than gaming.

Just a brief note for your entertainment and edification: two musical numbers I came up with in rece

Just a brief note for your entertainment and edification: two musical numbers I came up with in recent months, for different reasons. There were accompanying videos and pictures, but WordPress wants me to pay for stuff, which I refuse to do on principal.

The first is the (now locally infamous) ‘Still Ranting’. As the title would suggest, this is a modification of Portal’s masterpiece end song Still Alive, which I cobbled together as part of a trolling joke about a friend of mine who put together the short-lived ‘Poorly Drawn Comics’ site. Unfortunately, said friend was… less than appreciative.

‘This was a triumph

I’m making a note here: huge success

It’s hard to overstate my satisfaction

Poorly Drawn Comics

We do what we must because we can

For the good of all of us

Except the ones who are trolled.

But there’s no use crying over every mistake

You just keep on trying ’til you run out of cake

And the ranting gets done

And you get all steamed up

At the people who are commenting.

You’re not even angry

You’re being so sincere right now

Even though I broke your heart

And killed you

And tore you to pieces

And threw every piece into a fire

And as they burned it hurt because

You were so happy for me.

Now these points of data make a beautiful line

And you’re page hits are up

You’re releasing on time!

So be glad you got burned

Think of all the things you learned

From the people who are still alive.

Go ahead and block me

I think I prefer to stay away

Maybe you’ll find someone else to read you.

Maybe a woman

THAT WAS A JOKE. HA! HA! FAT CHANCE.

Anyway this cake is great

It’s so delicious and moist.

Look at me still talking

When there are others to read

When I glance in here

It makes me glad I’m not you!

I’ve experiments to run

And there is research to be done

On the people who are still worthwhile.’

Actually, rereading that, maybe his anger was not so unjustified… Please don’t sue me, Valve.

The second one of my holiday ditties (may I be struck down by a xylophone if I ever use the word ‘ditty’ again) is the Democracy Song, a spontaneous creation inspired by my friend’s Politics and Legal teacher. This teacher apparently decided to bring a cake in the shape of Parliament House to class, something which has claimed my Absurdity Of The Year Award. This piece is meant to be sung loudly, to the tune of This Is The Way We Brush Our Hair (or, if you’re too macho for that, What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor), preferably in a public place while skipping around wearing pigtails.

‘This is the way democracy works,
Democracy works, democracy works.
This is the way democracy works,
Earli in the morning

The people vote in the representatives,
The representatives, The representatives
The people vote in the representatives,
Earli in the morning

The Upper House is full of nobs,
Full of nobs, full of nobs,
The Upper House is full of nobs,
Earli in the morning

The children will eat the Parliament house,
The Parliament house, the Parliament house,
The children will eat the Parliament house,
But Bob should keep his day job.

Bogans, bogans, bogans, bogans,
Bogans, bogans, bogans, bogans,
Bogans, bogans, bogans, bogans,
Bogans, bogans, bogans,

We’ll never let the immigrants in,
Immigrants in, immigrants in,
We’ll never let the immigrants in,
Because we’re xenophobic

It’s a really screwy job,

Screwy job, screwy job,

It’s a really screwy job,
And they’re screwing it up.

Climate change is up the spout,
Up the spout, up the spout,
Climate change is up the spout,
And Penny Wong is creepy.

Wilson Tuckey is a troll,
Is a troll, is a troll,
Wilson Tuckey is a troll,
And he eats politicians’

Enjoy.

New challengers Otaku Elimination seek to shake up what they perceive as the corrupt hegemony of the

New challengers Otaku Elimination seek to shake up what they perceive as the corrupt hegemony of the anime blogosphere. They have keyboards, and they are angry.

What is all the fuss about? It’s a quest for purity:

We’re pissed off with people using the term ‘otaku’ incorrectly, and then throwing up some wikipedia bullshit about the technicalities of the word when someone calls them out on it. You have no real Japanese credibility and your point is invalid. To be an otaku is something that takes a lot of dedication and can’t be gotten just from buying figures. You’re either hardcore otaku, or you’re not one at all. There is no middle line.

Well, it’s an interesting premise. Just one thing -

The english speaking otaku scene, a scene which has been bastardised for years now . . .

Since the proprietors are purportedly talking about the term otaku as Japanese mean it, and Japanese generally mean Japanese anime otaku when they use the term “anime otaku” or speak of an “anime otaku scene,” the “English speaking otaku scene” was bastardized from the start. It was always a derivative of the original Japanese otaku scene.

In short, this is about a distinction that doesn’t really exist. Unless some of the blogs that Otaku Elimination reviews are made by Japanese expatriates, none of them are true Japanese anime otaku with “real Japanese credibility.” About the best they could do would be to move to Japan, marry into a Japanese family, and be known as “that weird gaijin anime otaku” for the rest of their lives. Even then, that wouldn’t cut it.

After all, there’s no middle ground, right?

You can expect to take many largemouth around six pounds & smallmouth around the same size if you are there at the right time & the right place.

The largemouth are hard to find & locate as they will always be where warm water back bays can be found with deep holes nearby.

Coves sheltered from North winds facing South always seem to be the best place to find them.

All sheltered coves with deep warm water in them or close by hold largemouth in this area.

The bass are not legal in Canada until the end of June after they spawn.

Check the law on this before you go after them.

In early spring they all gather in warm shallow water areas way back in & up the rivers to the back bays where they spawn.

After spawning most scatter all over the area with the exception of a few that stay in these areas all year.

The best method is called ”Walking The Dog” With The Zara Spook.

Also expect to catch a record in this area as a 13 pound largemouth was taken here & a 9 pound smallmouth out of season.

The big largemouth exceeds the Canadian record but was never turned in.

I saw a picture of this bass at Key Harbour Lodge years ago & I can tell you it was a big one.

The nine pound smallmouth was taken in 35 feet of water in Sand Bay near the Windmill Cottage on a crawdad but had to be released as it was not in season as yet.

I saw the picture & I can tell you that bass was huge.

My best smallmouth to date is 7 1/2 pounds caught on a Creek Chub Injured Minnow & a ten pound largemouth on a Zara Spook.

Big surface lures with spinners often produce a lot of big bass & big hits.

Toss them back in the pockets & ledges along the cliff or rock faces where the water is warm & 5 to 6 feet deep or more & that is where you will find most of them laying.

Each bass has its own little hole in Georgian Bay.

Please release them to fight another day.

You can expect to take largemouths & smallmouths up to six pounds on surface lures if you are there at the right time & place.

The right time means if the bass are hitting surface lures as The Georgian Bay is no different than any other fishing area in this respect.

Sometimes they simply do not cooperate & simply will not take surface lures.

The right place means where the big bass are & sometimes you have to do some searching & experimenting to figure this out depending on weather conditions & water levels in any given year.

Both the Canadian record Largemouth Bass & Smallmouth Bass lurk in this area.

Nine pound smallmouth bass have been caught & released in this area along with largemouth up to ten pounds.

The big largemouth are sometimes difficult to locate as they will always be where the water is warm & deep enough for their liking.

The smallmouth are much easier to locate & catch as they like colder & deeper water areas such as shoals, boulder piles, steep cliff faces & rivers & streams with fast moving water & currents nearby.

Coves sheltered from North winds facing South always seem to be the best place to find the largemouth.

All sheltered coves with deep warm water in them or close by hold largemouth in this area.

I have never caught a big largemouth in warm water areas where there were no deep holes of at least six feet or more.

Some areas look fabulous but do not have any deep holes in them & all you will catch there is small largemouth.

The largemouth & smallmouth bass are not legal in Canada until the fourth week of June when their annual spawning cycle is over which means you have to release them unharmed if you catch one by accident fishing for other species which are legal at the time.

Many rivers that run into Georgian Bay are off limits to fishing certain species in the spring months of the year.

Check the law on this before you go after them.

The Georgian Bay Bass Hole is located in an off limits fishing area for most species in early spring.

We discovered the bass hole fishing for crappies there in early May one year & caught & released one largemouth after another on crappie jigs & round weighted bobbers with 6 pound Stren line.

The weather kicked up out on the bay so we went way back in to go after big black crappies in an area we had caught them in before.

We were drifting the jigs behind the boat & allowing the wind to drift us along & we started hooking one big largemouth bass after another up to seven pounds.

In early spring they all gather in warm shallow water areas way back in & up the rivers to the back bays where they spawn.

After spawning most scatter all over the area with the exception of a few that stay in these areas all year.

You see, cities generally have more than one person in them, so I can’t assume every hit this blog gets from, for example, the city of Chicago is, in fact, constituent. I can’t assume any of them are, actually. There are other people in the city of Chicago. Quite a few, actually.

But, come by and visit with a proxy IP, and suddenly, it’s a whole different story.

Happy Monday one and all! As we begin a new work week, here’s a post from Seth Godin’s blog about “trolls” that sums things up pretty well.

“Lots of things about work are hard. Dealing with trolls is one of them. Trolls are critics who gain perverse pleasure in relentlessly tearing you and your ideas down. Here’s the thing(s):

1. trolls will always be trolling
2. critics rarely create
3. they live in a tiny echo chamber, ignored by everyone except the trolled and the other trolls
4. professionals (that’s you) get paid to ignore them. It’s part of your job.

‘Can’t please everyone,’ isn’t just an aphorism, it’s the secret of being remarkable.”

So today was the day I have been blagging, denting, talking, thinking and eating for the last three

So today was the day I have been blagging, denting, talking, thinking and eating for the last three months, the Arizona Business and Liberty Experience. It was the reason I became a Fedora Ambassador, it’s the reason I got to meet a ton of amazing people, and it’s the reason I got a bunch of cool free stuff

I got there nice and early (Read: Before anyone else showed up, even before TrendyHuerta was awake) and was basically wandering aimlessly for an hour or so before everyone we needed and our set up supplies arrived. But, I learned that our event host, UAT, had dorms on campus, and given the place’s tiny size, situated roughly between a 7/11 and a hotel, that was pretty surprising.

So, set up set up set up, and I have my Fedora table set up, complete with tee shirts, media and temporary tattoos. A major huge awesome thanks to Clint Savage (herlo) for having this stuff for ABLEconf, letting me be his manatee — er, mentoree –, and making sure the goodies made it from UTOSC to ABLEconf. Judging from some of the stuff that TrendyHuerta brought down, they have a heck of a conference after so few years they have been holding the event, and with any luck we will be as successful soon.

We opened up with a cool presentation from Aaron Seigo, who is a KDE core developer and head of the plasma project, and has done a whole bunch of other things that I can’t remember. I was set up to help him demo the remote plasmoids feature of KDE 4.4 in a live show, but unfortunately my Avahi mDNS was misbehaving. The second I told Kevin Kofler about it when i got home, I felt like a complete fool. I had forgotten to disable my firewall blocking mDNS. :< There was also a Konversation developer in attendance of Aaron’s Presentation, so KDE got at least some representation at ABLEconf, and it was cool to meet someone who I may soon be working with on Konvi. Hi Travis Aaron’s presentation will be available on blip.tv semi-soon, along with a few other presentations, for anyone and everyone who is interested.

At this point, I staffed our booth for about an hour, with many people stopping by to check out the Fedora media and swag. We were situated next to the Ubuntu Arizona LoCo table, so we had a nice fun explaining the differences, in tandem, between our two distributions. I started the day with a full box of media, tons of buttons, pens and a few shirts, and at the end of the day about half the media, mostly install DVDs, were gone, and basically all the swag except the buttons had been snapped up by our attendees.

After lunch I attended, for at least a few minutes, a pair of talks by Red Hat’s Rick Spurgeon, one of which was presented by Fedora Project head Paul Frields, entitled The Fedora Project. Unfortuantely I had to leave early to head upstairs to my presentation, conviently enough entitled The Fedora Project. The presentations were, thankfully, not the same — my presentation was given by A. Mani for Software Freedom Day in Calcutta, India. My presentation went off very well, if I must say so, except for my friends harassing me with choqoK twitter notifications Btw, for anyone reading this, in honor of David Huerta (@huertanix on identi.ca and twitter, that’s where you can complain) you just lost the game.[1]

So afterwards, we had our party at Boulders on Broadway, a pretty cool bar and grill type setting, where I got absolutely schooled by Aaron and just about everyone else at pool, even though I was the only sober person there, being too young to drink. I heard a lot of bad jokes, a few good jokes and had some pretty cool jokes, and heard some cool ideas I had never heard of with regards to economics and national policy. All while enjoying some nice pizza and caffiene. As far as I know, those guys made it much later into the night than I did. I was at home asleep about midnight.

Today was supposed to be the FOSS gaming day, however we only had a few guys show up, and none of them had the games installed. Beside that, UAT’s networking setup is awkward to say the least, and it was about noon when we actually got to any gaming, and at about the same time David rolled out of bed after Saturday’ night on the town. At this point, we just sat around, enjoying Hedgewars, World of Padman, Nexuiz and other little fun games, and generally talking about Free Software.

…

These two days have been really amazing, and the last few months have definitely paid off in full. Hopefully I’ll be able to attend many more events in the future, both as a Fedora ambassador, and as a simple GNU/Linux geek I have begun to make plans to attend Camp KDE in January at UCSD in San Diego, so hopefully I can catch some of you there

[1]: for those who don’t know, “the game” is simply an internet/real world meme which basically exists simply to make people as angry as possible http://ilostthegame.org/

Grouper Fishing
by Marilyn Davis
Instructional DVD – Grouper, Yellowtail & Mutton Snapper fishing

Groupers are one of many prized fish that we can catch along all coasts of Florida and the Bahamas. Hard fighting and good eating bottom fish, The Southeastern US particularly Florida Keys groupers provide the best grouper fishing in the world. Groupers are a firm, white meat fish that makes a spectacular onion-garlic sauté for your dinner table. Enough recipe chats!! Let’s catch fish.

Classic method of grouper fishing entails bottom fishing with heavy tackle.

Grouper are aggressive strikers, so right when they inhale the bait, they will normally go right into the rocks or structure that is surrounding them.

Another favorite method for grouper fishing is trolling. This method works in water from 15 to 25 feet in depth and works wherever grouper are found

If you are fishing in shallow water 4 to 12 feet, another popular way to Grouper fish is called flat lining. Most of the time if there are grouper on the structure where you are, you will have a hook up fairly quickly.

NOTE: Goliath Grouper, formerly known as jewfish, are totally protected from harvest in Florida waters. Also, Red Grouper, gag grouper, and Nassau grouper (spawn in April and May) prefer water temperatures between 66 and 77 degrees F.

Bait for Grouper

Just remember, big bait, big fish, small bait, small fish. From gag grouper in at little as ten to twelve feet of water to the mighty Warsaw grouper in several hundred feet of water, all grouper tend to like the same types of baits and presentations whether they are on the bottom or by trolling.

Bottom fishing with live baits

The bottom structure that you’re near tends to pull them in closer, housing a variety of species of fish, including tons of bait. Pinfish and large grunts would be your best bait.

What you want to do is see which way the tide is moving and go to the side where your bait will go away from the pier, find a good rock pile and just keep letting line out until you know your bait is right in front of your grouper.

You will find that most baits that live primarily on the bottom will not be suitable for trolling, but will be good for bottom fishing or even mid-water fishing if the boat is at anchor or drifting slowly.

The best bait for these fish is cut squid which is provided onboard. Sand perch are also good bait when filleted or steaked and used as chunks. Sardines and live pinfish are good grouper bait and can be purchased on the dock before sailing each morning.

Keep an eye out for birds sitting in the water because they’re on top of the bait, and all you have to do is wait a few minutes for Mr. Grouper.

Fishing Tackle

- A rod with a lot of backbone, a reel with the ability to crank down an extra hard drag, and 60 to 80 pound test line are the usual equipment on a bottom fishing trip for grouper. One of the most common rigs for grouper fishing is called the sliding or egg sinker (aka knocker) rig.

If you’re bottom fishing with live baits such as pin fish and large grunts, use a 3 to 8 ounce egg sinker, 2 to 3 foot of 50 to 100 pound leader and a 5 to 10/0 hook, depending on the size of bait.

Trolling, Bottom fishing- Flat lining for groupers

Bottom Fishing

- Classic grouper fishing involves bottom fishing with relatively heavy tackle. Grouper are aggressive strikers, so right when they inhale the bait, they will normally go right into the rocks or structure that is surrounding them.

Trolling
- Another favorite method for grouper fishing is trolling. This method works in water from 15 to 25 feet in depth and works wherever grouper are found. In the winter and early spring, black grouper and red grouper make their way up from deeper water to the relative shallows of near shore patch reefs to spawn.

Some patches climb almost vertically, and all have holes and caves serving as home to a variety of fish, including our groupers. The feather lures or lures with a ballyhoo combo & running about 12 to 15 feet deep attract the groupers to run out of their holes as the bait goes by.

Slow Trolling

- The method we use during this time is to slow troll feathers with strip bait, such as mullet on deep troll downriggers, between, next to, and sometimes over the patch reefs. The wire line is necessary to (1) get the bait deep enough, and (2) provide a no stretch line to insure the fish is moved away from the reef. The feather will run about 12 to 15 feet deep and the grouper will run out of his hole as the bait goes by.

Flat Lining

If you are fishing in shallow water 4 to 12 feet, another popular way to Grouper fish is called flat lining. What you want to do is see which way the tide is moving and go to the side where your bait will go away from the pier or boat, find a good rock pile, and just keep letting line out until you know your bait is right in front of our groupers’ dinner table.

The majority of the time if there are grouper on the structure where you are, you will have a hook up fairly quickly. This is why heavy leader is required. You can bet on one thing; if you want to catch a few grouper, you are going to go through some tackle.

Watch the water for fish next time you head out; be aware of what is going on in the water. Bait fish attract predator fish, and there is no reason for not fishing the area around a big baitfish school.

So trolling their dinner behind the boat will be our way of catching & hooking up these fish. If the fish don’t strike your bait while you’re trolling fast, slow down, and let the bait sink a little.

When a fish hits, Let go of the line, count to five, snap the bail closed, and start cranking.

When you’ve hooked your fish, work on him so he gets tired. You don’t want to get a 40 lb fish back to the boat until he’s quieted down a bit.
