My youngest son Wyatt, was born with a baseball in one hand, and a basketball in the other. His older brother was about to turn five when he was born, so he was always trying to live up to his big bro’s standards. . .a tough job for one so much younger. No one let him win at anything, for the simple pleasure of winning. He had to work hard to learn how to compete at an early age, because his brother was athletic, an honor student, and wanted to be the best at everything he did.

It was not enjoyable to watch him get walked on at times, but we also knew he was learning a life lesson in the process, and he could not be given everything on a silver platter, as much as his momma wanted him to experience the joy of succeeding.

I will never forget the day he had to learn the lesson that the world is not fair. All the times his brother beat him at running, making baskets, hitting baseballs, or winning board games, he lost fair and square. The night we went to a PTO function where trophies were given to grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 for shooting free throws, our family watched and cheered as they let him compete against the K-2 graders because he was still too young to be in school. Wyatt made every free throw but one, into the plastic Michael Jordan basketball goal with the miniature basketball; far better than the other competitors. Naively, we screamed and clapped and told him how he won. He wasn’t stupid–he could count and knew he had the most points. When the trophies were doled out, he waited patiently to receive his. Someone must have overlooked his score, because third, second, and first places went to kids with lower scores. It was all over, and when it became obvious he was not getting a trophy, he bit his quivering lip, and held the tears in. Four years old. In the car, the tears came. So did mine. How do you explain only the kids who go to school get the trophies, even though he knew he made more baskets? It was absolutely heartbreaking. His aunt, uncle, and cousins had been there, too. He must have felt humiliated. We all went home, deflated.

About an hour later, there was a knock on our door. It was his uncle. He had gone to his basement and scrounged up an old basketball trophy of his own, about 20 years old, by the look of the dulling metal and the ’70’s style shorts on the basketball player posed with a raised ball. He had taken a piece of green paper and written with a Sharpie, “Hoop Shoot ’95, 9 out of 10,“ and taped it to the marble base where the metal plate with his own inscripted honor had been.

It was touching, and Wyatt was so pleased. We could tell he felt important. We watched as a big smile spread across his little face. It was precious.

The trophy has always kept its place of honor on a cabinet where other awards like the GEC All-Conference MVP in baseball and Duff-Kingston Sportsmanship in basketball have joined it over the years. He has made his own way in sports and academics, possibly because of those early lessons he was forced to learn from his big brother. He didn’t know it then, but the fact that life isn’t always fair was the least of the lessons to be learned that night of the PTO function. When he reads this story and is reminded of how his big, tough, six- foot-something uncle went to the effort to even the playing field for him, he is going to see the unconditional love that only God can put in another’s heart. It is the kind of life lesson we all want our children to experience first hand.

I reached 100% of all God of War Trophies with 2 run-throughs inside a single week. The first run was on Hard Mode! It was though but I never accept the offer to switch to Easy Mode. Hurray! The second run was on easy to grab the last missing trophies. Now I want to give you some tips how to get em all. You should note that there is no “Complete the Game on God Mode” trophy in the list, wich means that you dont need to complete the game in this Difficulty Mode unless you want to unlock all the Treasures in the game itself (costume select, the truth about Kratos family and the second secret message).  If you are up to beat the game on God Mode and to unlock all the treasures, be advised that you can get the first secret message by destroying the two statues in the last room of the game (200 hits each) I was very satisfied about this circumstance not to be forced to play through God Mode.

Anyway, lets begin with the trophy list. Here we go:

BRONCE TROPHIES

• Rockin’ the Boat – Complete the Sex Mini-Game
  • After fighting the Hydra and reaching Athens you start in your cap with two beautiful naked woman lie on your bed. By Pushing the R2-Button you just talk with them. You need to jump on the bed and to push the Circe-Button to interact with them. It’s not only a good practice for the many Quick-Time-Events, it also rewards you with red globes and a trophy.
• Don’t Leave Her Hanging – Rescue the Oracle with 10 seconds to spare
  • This is a easy one. Just finish the race to rescue the Oracles with 10 seconds left on the timer.
• Splash – Kiss the Nyad
  • There are 4 Nyads that can be found during the Test of Poseidon under water. By pushing the R2-Button you just read Kratos thoughts. You need to push the Circle-Button near the Nyad to kiss her and to get the trophy.
• Zero Health = Bronze Trophy
  • This is an easy one. Just open a Chest when your heath meter is already full.
• Hitman – Get a 100 Hits Combo
  • There are to places to achieve this trophy. The first one is near the locked door that you need to open by a puzzle short before you can acquire Zeus Fury or during the Test of Atlas while a block is coming near you and you have to kill all enemies before it smashes you.Make sure to have Poseidon’s Rage at last on Level 2 and play on Normal or Hard Mode.
    It’s near impossible to get this trophy on Easy Mode because the enemies have less health and die very quick what makes it hard for you to collect enough hits.
    All you have to do is to wait until you are surrounded by a lot of enemies. Now is the time to cast Poseidon’s Rage and to smash the Circle-Button. Tada! Now you have over 100 hits and get the trophy.
• Getting My Ass Kicked – Die enough times to get offered Easy Mode
  • You need to play the game at last on Normal Mode and to die during the same battle exactly 5 times to get offered to change the difficulty to Easy Mode. Dont win a battle and activate the next checkpoint or the counter will be set back to zero.

SILVER TROPHIES

• Kratos’ Marble Collection – Collect all the Gorgon Eyes
  • There are 18 Gorgon Eyes wich increase your healt-meter. You can find more than 18 Gorgon Eyes spread all over the Chests that can be found in the game. You get the trophy by collecting all 18 Gorgon Eyes.
• Stick it in Your Cap! – Collect all the Phoenix Feathers
  • There are 18 Phoenix Feathers wich increase your mana-meter. You can find more than 18 Phoenix Feathers  spread all over the Chests that can be found in the game. You get the trophy by collecting all 18 Phenix Feathers.
• Hitman 2 – Get a 200 Hits Combo
  • Check the Trophy “Hitman 1″ above to know the two best places to reach the trophy. Cast Poseidon’s Rage once more and bash the Circle-Button again to get over 200 hits. The trophy is yours now!
• Legend of the Twins – Watch the ‘Birth of the Beast’ Treasure
  • After you have completed the game once you unlock a short movie in the Treasure list. Just play this video and you get the trophy.
• Seeing Red – Max out all Weapons and Magic
  • It’s near impossible to max out all weapons and magic on Normal Mode or higher, because you get less red globes by defeating enemies. Play the game on Easy Mode and try to follow this simple rules:
    - Kill your opponents very brutal to get more red globes as you would get by just killing them the normal way
    - Open the by two Muse-Keys locked secret room in Rings of Pandora to get a large boost of experience
    - Try to find every chest wich include red orbs during the game
    - You get the most globes in chests on your escape from the underworld
    - During the first battle against Ares try to fail the mini-game after the first sequence when Kratos jumps on Ares shoulders to get lots of experience levels, up to 5 times

GOLD TROPHIES

• You Got the Touch! – Climb the Spiked Column in Hades without taking damage
  • You only have to climb the first Spiked Column in Hades without taking damage to achieve this trophy. It’s not very hard to solve this task. Just focus on the blades of the column and dont hesitate. I can’t tell you if you need to load your game after you got hit by one of the blades to reset the requirement not to get hit. I always quit the game and load the savegame before the next attempt to survive this column untouched.
• I’ll Take the Physical Challenge – Complete the Challenge of the God
  • You can select the Challenge of the Gods in the treasure menu after completing the game for the first time. Just beat the 10 stages of this challenge to archive the trophy.
• Speed of Jason McDonald – Beat the game in under 5 hours on any Difficulty
  • I completed this task together with the trophy “Seeing Red”. It’s possible to be under 5 hours and to max out all weapons when you play on Easy Mode.To accomplish this task follow this simple rules:
    - Play on Easy Mode
    - Dont kill every enemy on your way to spare some time and just kill all enemies if you are forced to through a magical barrier
• Key to Success – Collect all of the Muse Keys
  • There are only 2 Muse-Keys in the world, but enough chests to find one. I found one in a chest behind Atlas and the second one during the climb on a wall.

This is it folks! Now grab your Platinum Trophy! Oh wait.. there are still more trophies to discover during the game. Just progress through the game and complete it once to get the last missing trophies by just playing the game

Baseball Trophies and Awards News…

It’s been a busy week for Major League Baseball. Four of the major annual trophies and awards have been awarded in some surprising announcements.

The American League announced its MVP on Monday, awarding the trophy to Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer. Mauer received 27 of the 28 first-place votes by the Baseball Writers Association of America to win. Until the voting results were in, Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter of the World Series Champion team, New York Yankees were also considered front runners.

Today, the National League announced their Cy Young winner. San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Tim Lincecum became the first player in the 54-year history of the Cy Young Award to capture it in his first two full seasons in the major leagues. In addition, at 25, Lincecum is the youngest NL pitcher to win consecutive Cy Youngs.

Kansas City Royal’s pitcher, Zack Greinke, was awarded the American League Cy Young trophy last week.

Finally, earlier today, the National League announced its Most Valuable Player for the 2009 season. Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals won his third National League Most Valuable Player award in five seasons.

Trophies News…

Jimmie Johnson hoisted the Sun Cup Trophy for the fourth consecutive year this past weekend. The race car driver made history by being the first to do so.

The champion is determined by a point system, where points are awarded over a series of races and based on finish placement and the amount of laps led by. Johnson came into the final race as the point leader, but not a lock.

The trophy’s design is a wood base and a sterling silver body, designed to look like a checkered flag. It is 24 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds.

One of the greatest Hack and Slash series of all time that I discovered first in 2008 through Skorch82 video-walkthroughs is about to get its third installment. I did not know what to expect from it. I was a big fan of the Soul Reaver series and after I have watched two videos of Skorchs guide I knew that I am going to like the God of War games, too. In 2008 I made my PlayStation2 ready again and bought me the two parts of God of War that I missed. I played 5 hours per day and finished both games inside one single week and I was still screaming for more! God of War III will come and now I get the chance to replay this two epic stories again on my PlayStation3.

A short overview

There is no need to explain the story of the game because it would spoil too much. All you should know is that you play as Kratos – one of Spartans greatest Warlords – but his fate condemned him to serve the gods and to obey their orders in reverse for everything he once loved. Terrible nightmares dont let him sleep most of the time until Athena offers his soul peace after one final task:  He needs to destroy Ares – the god of war.

The God of War games are well known for their varied gameplay. Most of the time you will slaughter, tear up and kill enemies in a very brutal and bloody way. You collect orbs of different color to regain health, mana and to upgrade your blades and force wich you need to unlock while playing through the game and solving tricky puzzles. The games won a lot of prices, including “Game of the Year” honors from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and is listed in almost every Top Playstation 2 game ranking of admitted sites and magazines.

The game was re-released on the Playstation 3 this year in a Collectors Edition, featuring a trophy system and remastered for rendition in High Definition. I got it for 23 EUR in reverse for my Playstation 2 releases at GameStop and played it today. Lets see if the promotion campaign that promises “a much better experience of two greatest hits” is justified.

Collectors Edition

Lets get straight to the point: The Collectors Edition for PS3 is better as I have expected. You get both games, including all their features and mini games that were inside the original releases and every “Making of” episode + new “Making of” content can be found and viewed directly from the blue ray disk. The games itself were remastered f0r rendition in 720p HD. That means that every texture and model was edited and drawn again by hand to give the edges the look of a 2x AntiAliasing (AA cant be rendered by the PS3 graphics chip) and better sharpness. But there are still some weak points wich I dont like that much: All with the ingames engine premade cut scenes look as awful as they were in the original releases for the PS2. Only the animated videos beat their predecessor versions by far! The graphic inside the game looks a way better as before but always reminds you on the fact that the God of War games were first released on the PS2. Some textures look very blurry and misplaced, but this is what you need to accept if you buy a game that was mentioned to be played on a platform from the last console generation.

Please dont misunderstand me, the Collectors Edition is great and the games look really awesome and you can see that they put a lot of effort into the remastering. I only wish that they had put in a little bit more time into making it. The same goes for the trophies. I thought there were much more but until now I just see trophies for God of War I. The CE does not remove the old gameplay and the game’s atmosphere is still the greatest you will ever experience. God of War I and II are outstanding games that I really love to enjoy both a second time. It’s a dirty, brutal and violent world in wich Kratos lives and a MUST BUY for every fan and people who never had the chance to play the originals.

Line up your furniture to your wallpaper. It can give a tidy look to cluttered spaces and most importantly make the space look great!

My example:

I could NEVER find a good space for my trophies so I bought the Shamrock Wallpaper from the DIY Depot and I lined up my trophies against the lines of the wallpaper! Infact, I randomly placed them ignoring the Gold, Silver, Bronze thing making it look EVEN better. *I have more trophies

Nella finale del Louis Vuitton Trophy Azzurra ha battuto niente meno che i “maestri” di New Zeland, vittoria che vale doppio se consideriamo che si gareggiava con delle monobarca (cioè tutte le barche erano uguali) quindi la “differenza” era tutta negli equipaggi; questo torneo e questa formula dimostrano una volta di più che non sono necessari investimenti pazzeschi per organizzare una manifestazione interessante ed avvincente. Un plauso particolare alla RAI che ha seguito le regate e le ha trasmesse SOLO sul digitale e sul satellite, per giunta con sintesi registrate … ovvio che diretta e orari “buoni” sono riservati al calcio, alle stronzate che sparano gli “esperti” ed ai coglioni che pendono dalle loro labbra … e c’è anche chi da dell’evasore a chi non paga il canone, magari potessi non pagarlo io.

The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) announced the final five finalists for the Nagurski Trophy. The association awards the trophy to the national college football defensive player of the year. The finalists are:

Hockey Trophies News…

Hockey season is in full effect, but the ultimate trophy, the Stanley Cup, isn’t the only award players are skating for each season. Let’s take a look at the three major player trophies annually awarded.

Hart Trophy: This trophy is awarded to the Most Valuable Player, as deemed by members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association, who vote to determine the player who was the most valuable to his team during the regular season. Wayne Gretzky won the award a record nine times during his career, eight consecutively.

Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy: Otherwise known as the Maurice Richard Trophy and the Rocket Richard Trophy, this trophy is awarded to the league’s leading goal scorer.

Veniza Trophy: This trophy is awarded to the NHL’s top goalie. The trophy’s winner is determined by the league’s 30 General Managers, who vote to determine which goalie was the most valuable to his team during the regular season.

Trash Trophy (the scout hike) is on saturday and I’ve got the Sh*ttest team ever. Ryan has all my friends in the other patrol and I’m stuck with all the uncool people who i dont even like.

(“SCEA”) today announced an integration with Facebook to deliver the first phase of a variety of new features to further connect and enhance the online social experiences of PlayStation®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system owners. Starting on November 18, as part of the system software update, version 3.10, users can easily showcase their game accomplishments to friends and family, and post information about the PS3 games they purchase from PlayStation®Network to Facebook. With the new Facebook integration, PS3 system owners now have access to a truly social and seamless user experience.

With Firmware 3.10, PS3 system owners can now not only brag to friends about their domination as a gamer, but also back it up by sharing unlocked trophies with their friends on Facebook every time they sync their Trophies. Additionally, the system update enables PS3 system owners to share information on games they just purchased with a click of a button.   The new system update also enables game developers to set up trigger points in their games that provide PS3 system users the option to quickly and easily publish game related information from their favorite titles to Facebook.

PlayStation Store Purchase Log Publishing: Let friends and family on Facebook instantly know which PlayStation 3 games you’ve purchased. The PlayStation Store, available to PS3 and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system owners through PlayStation Network, features over 200 downloadable games, many of which are exclusive to PS3 or PSP system owners, in addition to over 4,000 pieces of add-on game content.

Game Event: With a few quick clicks of the controller sharing select game events, progress and statistics is now easier than ever with the Facebook integration.
