I haven’t seen the movie because it seemed like some teenagers’ Hip Hop thing and it reminds me of High School Musical, which I didn’t exactly enjoy except for Zac Efron’s pretty face, but now I might just consider watching it after exams!

When your outline is complete and you are ready to write your first draft, many writers make a common mistake at this point. They try to “get it right” the first time. They may work on a paragraph for hours, fine-tuning the words until they are perfect. Writers thus shut off their creativity by insisting on profession.

Remember, the first draft is a working draft. It should be written quickly without too much thought to elegant expressions or final order and paragraphing. Your object is to get the material on paper to flash out the structure of your outline. Let the words flow. Start wherever you can—in the middle, even near the end. The opening or introduction can be completed later. Any weaknesses in logic or gaps in information, any points that are out of place can be corrected in the final version.

As you write the first draft, keep your audience in mind. Doing so will help you stay focused on the purpose of your work. Keep writing until you have completed the first draft.

As with all drives,be sure to double check the failure. If the dvd drive will not read the dvd,try, dvd, running, dvd, another dvd in the drive.Make sure the dvd has no scratches and is clean.
Visually inspect the drive if the drive is external and if the drive is enternal,check the computer.Check to see if the computer has good ventilation to help keep it cool.Here are the common dvd problems with their solutions.
DVD DRIVE HAS NO POWER
First..For external drives that have no power,first check to see if anything or anyone has caused the power cord to become unplugged, dvd, .Rule out the wall outlet by plugging in another device such as a radio and see if it plays.
Second…If you’ve proven the wall outlet to be, dvd, good,but you still don’t have power,check the surge protector for any signs of damage.If the surge protector is good,check the cord.
Third..If you’re certain the surge protector or wall outlet is providing power,double check the cord by plugging it in a few times.If no power is present,you will have to replace the cord or the drive itself.
Internal dvd drives receive their power from the connector from the power supply.Try another connector to the drive. if the internal dvd drive still does not receive power, dvd, after using another connector,the drive is faulty.
DRIVE HAS POWER BUT TRAY WON’T OPEN
You may experience the tray failing to open.Should this happen,press the button a couple times to see if it will open.If the, dvd, tray fail to open,reboot your computer and try to open the tray.
When rebooting the system,notice the monitor to see if the drive is recognized by the computer.Some systems will not display installed hardware during bootup.If this is the case,you will have to access your BIOS to check if the dvd drive is being registered.
You can also try the manual eject button on the drive to get it to open.Use something very small but firm to press in the pinhole in front of the drive to open the tray.
Shut the computer off and unplug it.Use something like a long paperclip to insert in the pinhole to open the tray. The tray may open a couple inches and you can grab it with your fingers to open it completely.
DRIVE IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY WINDOWS
Be sure the operating system is recognizing the drive by clicking on My Computer.Windows XP will show “drives with removable storage”.If your drive is present, highlight the drive,right click and select properties.Click on properties and you should see “this drive is working properly”.
If you see another message such as “this drive, dvd, is not working properly”,you may be able to update the device driver.If the drive is not present in My computer,reboot the computer and access the cmos setup.
In the cmos setup,the dvd drive should be present.The drive may, dvd, not be properly installed or one, dvd, of the cables have become disconnected if the drive is missing
If you check the drive cables and are certain they are connected correctly,it may, dvd, be that the data cable is faulty and the drive controller may be at fault.And we can’t overlook the fact that the drive itself may be bad.
DRIVE HAS POWER BUT WILL NOT READ DVD
First..try another dvd since a dirty or scratched dvd may not play.If the new dvd fail to play as well,check to see if the operating system is recognizing the drive
Click on My Computer and highlight the, dvd, dvd drive.Right click, dvd, and select properties.The statement “This device is working properly” should be present.If not or you see another, dvd, message,try to update the device driver.
In the, dvd, My Computer screen,highlight the dvd drive,and select the Properties screen,select Drivers,and then select update device driver.
Another cause may be the Windows Registry is corrupt. You can use software utilities such as PC Bug, dvd, Doctor to repair your registry. Download this free repair utility, dvd, at http://www.pcbugdoctor.com/download.html.
To make, dvd, a backup, dvd, of your registry with Windows 98, just go to Start, select Run, enter scanregw and click OK, dvd, . This will run Scanregw.exe.
Restore your registry in Windows 98 by typing scanreg / restore at the Dos Prompt. You can also use.Winrescue XP at http://www.superwin.com/index.htm is a neat little utility for backup and restore of Windows XP.

It’s been a week since the release, and I’ve been doing a lot of listening. John Mayer is an artist that I have always casually enjoyed. That all changed this year when I was turned on to the “trio” side of John Mayer. It represents everything I love about music–groove, improvisation, interplay between band members, etc. Steve Jordan is an amazing pocket player, like Steve Gadd. I just know he’s one of those guys that practices grooves for extended periods of time. He probably sits down at the kit, picks a certain groove/beat and just play it non-stop for a half hour, stopping only when it “feels” good. This is how he can make the simple 1 and 3 bass drum rock beat feel sooooo tasty. No superfluous flair, just groove, (although I recently heard some of his earlier work with a band called Eyewitness. He’s got crazy solo and technical chops too, it’s just cool how he demonstrates restraint nowadays and focuses on groove). As John himself says, you could easily mute the rest of the music and people would still come to hear just Steve play. With the equally groove-oriented Pino Palladino on bass, this makes a rock-solid foundation for musical genius to flourish. The thing I love about Pino is that, although he plays so well in the pocket and lays back most of the time, the man’s runs, hooks, bends and turn-arounds are beautifully executed with precision. You look at the guy playing and you just know he’s the real deal. In another life, I would be a bassist. A reincarnated Pino.

Every once in a while, amidst the more cosmetic and impulse spending, I make an excellent investment. This is the case for my copy of “Where the Light Is: Live in Los Angelos.” In it, we get to see the three incarnations of John Mayer’s music–his acoustic sensibilities, the trio work and his full-band pop-megahits. It is the marriage of these three incarnations that draws me to John Mayer. He is extremely versatile. He is truly virtuosic on the guitar, spot on on vocals and a superb song-writer. He is also a really, really intelligent guy, and funny. Follow him on twitter. You won’t be disappointed: johncmayer.

This brings me to Battle Studies, which came out last Tuesday. People might ask, how could he ever follow Continuum?? I don’t think his intent was to “follow” Continuum. Instead, I feel like Battle Studies is a step to the side, or even slightly forward. I think Battle Studies is something fresh and new from John Mayer, the next step. If you try to fit Battle Studies into the guise of Continuum, you’re setting yourself up for a disappointment. The same goes for Where the Light Is or TRY! Although Steve and Pino play on the album, this is not a John Mayer Trio, jam-filled album. Don’t try to make it something it isn’t. It’s the next step in John’s journey as a musician and song-writer.

That all said, this is a really chill album. Some might scoff at the overwhelming sentimentality throughout much of the album, but I am not turned off by music driven by emotion, inner contemplation and struggle. I feel like that’s what music addresses best, just as poetry does. One of the reasons I like Damien Rice so much is that he has the ability to evoke an incredible amount of emotion in his songs and performances, most about failed or flawed love. Don’t dismiss this as a sappy pop album. It is much more than that. I think John is being really honest in this album. It is where he’s at in his life right now, and right now he’s battling, hence the battle-themed songs, titles and lyrics: Heartbreak Warfare, Assassin, War of my Life, Battle Studies, “Bombs of sulfur in the air, bombs are falling everywhere,” etc.

Crossroads (pays homage to the blues great)

Edge of Desire (just love it)

Half of My Heart (i have a crush on Taylor Swift..)

Who Says (this has grown on me since the single came out. it’s actually something i’d turn on at the end of the night….and….because of the first 3 seconds when steve jordan counts us in)

The suggestion for today was to try and save water and electricity by remembering to turn off the light switch, a power point, a tap, etc. Because we forget these things the book suggests making stickers to place next to a light switch for example.

This is a somewhat simple solution to a possibly costly memory issue, in that forgetting to flick a switch/turn off a tap costs money by way of the bill, as well as costing more in terms of environmental costs.

I have found myself being far more efficient in these areas in the last little while and hardly ever forget to turn off a light when not needed, turn off a tap when brushing teeth, etc. It did however take a lot of self-discipline and I can see how stickers/post-it’s, etc, can be handy for some people.
