So this weekend was pretty sweet. I attended the 1979-2009 Arlington High School Orchestra Reunion, and boy howdy was it a fun party. Saturday night was quite a shindig at J. Gilligan’s. Ms. Keefer’s daughter, Trisha, performed with her band TUCO, followed by Ms. Keefer’s son, Nathan, performing with The 440 Alliance.

Both bands were excellent, and it was great catching up with some old buds. On Sunday, we all met up at Randol Mill Park for a pic-a-nic. We didn’t stay very long, mainly because it was so flippin’ hot out there. But it was still cool to hang with them for a bit.

So how was your Labor Day? Mine was pretty good. I helped Jenn do a few last minute things in her new classroom. Once we finished up there, we went to Pappasito’s to have lunch with Ms. Keefer and some of my fellow Class of 2000 orch dorks. That was a lot of fun, and I’m hoping we can do it again soon. It was SO awesome catching up with them and having some great laughs.

Anyhoo, back to work today. I’ve been thinking a lot about Jenn at her new school today, since today’s her first day with the new class. Been praying for her and hoping that things start off smoothly, or at least get better before too long. She’s excited about getting started, especially now that her room is together. It looks REALLY great in there. More room, more storage cabinets, even a bathroom and two sinks. She’s not sure if she agrees with me, but I think her new room is much nicer than the one at her old school. I think she’ll change her mind before too long.

Breaking Bad : Season 2 : Episode 1: “Seven Thirty-Seven”

Season 2 kicks off with an enigmatic post-apocalyptic scene in what looks to be Walt’s swimming pool, and then drops us in the scrapyard right where season 1 left us. The dissemination of scientific knowledge is a little lacking in this episode, which is understandable when there’s an insane drug dealer after you. In this post, I’ll be talking about ricin.

As Hank watches the CCTV footage of Walt and Jesse’s methylamine heist, he mentions “P2P” when Gomez tells his what was taken. This doesn’t refer to some kind of distribution network, but rather phenyl-2-propanone, another name for the phenylacetone that will be converted into methamphetamine.

Ricin

Tuco is significantly better protected than Krazy-8 was, and Walt comes up with a proven method to quietly bump him off – poison. His weapon of choice is ricin, a tremendously toxic substance that is easily extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant (Ricinus communis), which in turn is easily found as ornamental foliage or as a source of castor oil. Walt mentions the infamous 1978 “umbrella murder” of Georgi Markov, who was injected with a ricin-filled pellet from the tip of an umbrella.

Unfortunately, it looks like our would-be assassins have stumbled over a questionable recipe that has been circulating the internet for decades. During the quick cuts of the cooking process, we can see the liberal use of drain cleaner (sodium or potassium hydroxide, commonly called lye) and acetone – this tells us that they’re going down the “Poisoner’s Handbook” route instead of the “US Army” route (which uses acid). Both methods are significantly more complicated than the recipes would suggest, so we can only hope that Walt knows what he’s doing.

I was down with fever, body pain, back ache and a headache that wouldn’t leave me for 5 continuous days. That made me take 2 days off from work. A rare occurrence in the 4 years that I’ve been paid to work.

And lying down alone in bed, not knowing what to do, I decided to flip open my DVD pouch and browse through the 200 odd movies and find something to pep me up. ‘The good, the bad and the ugly’ seemed to catch my attention and I started watching it.

Tuco, the ugly, repeated the following words thrice in a span of 5 minutes. It never made any sense what-so-ever till now. But this time, it did.

Here’s our entry for the Downtown Records remix competition for the latest Amanda Blank single Might Like You Better, I’ve been a fan of Amanda since first hearing her on the Spank Rock L.P so I wanted a piece of the action, the beat is actually intended for someone else and when it drops it will be much better because he’s a better rapper and it won’t have that annoying rim shot in the acapella that we couldn’t really do anything about. Trusty came through and gave the track a hip hop edge and stopped me from making another filtered disco track so props to him and also to Vienna’s Motorpitch for his input!

Breaking Bad : Season 1 : Episode 7: “A No-Rough-Stuff-Type Deal’”

Walt and Jesse prepare to make their deal.

After last week’s explosive encounter with Tuco, Walt and Jesse cement their position as Albuquerque’s top suppliers of premium-grade meth. In this post, I’ll be talking about the new cooking process (reductive amination) and producing thermite from an Etch-A-Sketch.

Reductive amination

Last episode, Jesse brought Walt’s grand two-pounds-a-week plans crashing down around his ears by pointing out the difficulty of getting pseudoephedrine. If you were to walk into a pharmacy and attempt to buy 400 boxes of decongestant, you would almost certainly find yourself talking to the police very quickly. This is why meth cookers employ small armies of “smurfs” to go out and buy quantities that don’t arouse suspicion, though it does put quite severe limits on the amount of methamphetamine that can be made.

Methylamine

Faced with this unattractive fact, Walt applies his formidable problem-solving skills and comes up with a different method to make methamphetamine that doesn’t require ephedrine or pseudoephedrine: reductive amination of phenylacetone with methylamine. Jesse greets this plan with the enthusiasm that makes a chemist’s job worthwhile – “Yeah…science!” He might not be so impressed once he find out what these compounds smell like (methylamine in particular gives off a strong fishy odour) – in fact, labs using this method are often busted due to their pervasive stench.

Compounds that contain nitrogen are often called amines, or given the prefix amino-. Here, we are producing a compound that contains nitrogen (an amine) from one that doesn’t, so the procedure can be classed as an aminiation. We’re removing oxygen from the parent compound, so it can also be classed as a reduction.

Phenylacetone

The government cottoned on to the fact that you can make methamphetamine from phenylacetone quite a long time ago, and made it a controlled substance. Walt clearly knows this, as he doesn’t have Jesse try to buy some but rather opts to make it himself. There are several ways to make phenylacetone, but it sounds like Walt will be reacting phenylacetic acid with acetic acid (the acid that’s in vinegar) as he requires both a tube furnace and a thorium nitrate catalyst (Th(NO₃)₄); an unusual choice, as it’s radioactive and a manganese-based catalyst should work just as well).

So far, so industrial-scale good. However, our chemists quickly run up against a DEA wall when they find that the anhydrous methylamine they need to do the reductive amination is also a controlled substance. Time to think about producing it from ammonia (NH₃) and methanol (CH₃OH)? No, it’d make better television to steal it.

Thermite

Just how does one go about recycling an old Etch-A-Sketch? To Jesse, it’s just another piece of junk cluttering up his garage, but to Walt it’s a source of aluminium powder. An Etch-A-Sketch is quite simple in operation – there’s a thin coating of fine aluminium powder sticking to the plastic screen, and the knobs move a stylus that scrapes it off. The lines we see are therefore areas without aluminium powder, which allow us to see through to the dark interior. When the Etch-A-Sketch is shaken, polystyrene beads help to redistribute the powder evenly over the surface of the screen again.

Why is aluminium powder so important? As Walt later explains, he’s making thermite – a mixture of a metal powder and a metal oxide. Such a mixture is not explosive, but will create extremely high temperatures around a small area – it’s often used to weld sections of railway line together in locations inconvenient for conventional welding equipment. The reaction requires some kind of heat source to get started (Walt and Jesse use a gas torch), and then the metal powder is simply oxidised by the oxygen in the metal oxide in a classic redox reaction.

In this episode, Walt is probably using iron(III) oxide due to its easy availability:

Fe₂O₃ + 2Al → 2Fe + Al₂O₃ + heat

This reaction would reach around 2500 °C, easily enough to melt through the steel padlock on the storeroom door. Too bad the guys didn’t bring a trolley along.

Walt also makes reference to the Gustav Gun, an enormous railway cannon used by the Wehrmacht against the Soviet Union during World War II. It was destroyed in 1945 to prevent its capture by advancing Allied troops – if a thermite-packing commando had actually disabled it all by himself, someone would have made a film about it by now.

Breaking Bad : Season 1 : Episode 6: “Crazy Handful of Nothin’”

With Jesse unable to sell enough crystal to meet Walt’s mounting chemotherapy bills, Walt decides that it’s time to go wholesale. The distributor that took over Krazy-8’s patch is not very impressed by Jesse’s pitch, and Walt is thus forced to take a big step into the criminal underworld. In this post, I’ll be talking about mercury fulminate and the chemistry of explosions.

Before we get started, it’s interesting to note that Hank is quite familiar with the array of glassware and equipment in Walt’s storeroom. When he picks up the 5-litre round-bottomed flask, we can see that it’s actually a flat-bottomed flask – so either Walt misspoke when he showed it to Jesse back in episode one, or he had one of each type. Round- and flat-bottomed flasks look the same, but (as the name implies) flat-bottomed flasks have a flat base so they can stand on a level surface (round-bottomed flasks usually stand in cork rings or heater-stirrers, or are held with clamps).

Explosions

In the classroom, Walt is giving a lecture about reaction rates and explosions. While some reactions proceed slowly and gradually (Walt’s example is rust build-up on a car), others are extremely fast – such as, hint hint, explosions. We can think of an explosion as a combustion reaction (the oxidation of a material in air) that happens almost instantaneously. Instead of heat and gases being produced slowly over the course of a few hours, they are produced all at once.

Low explosives such as gunpowder explode via deflagration. This is a technical term for combustion where the gas expands below the speed of sound (343 m s^-1), such as petrol (gasoline) in an internal combustion engine. High explosives such as TNT explode via detonation. While this term is commonly used to mean any kind of explosion, it technically refers to combustion where the gas expands faster than the speed of sound, creating a destructive shock wave.

On the left-hand side of the blackboard, we can see:

2NO₂ → 2NO + O₂

Which is a typical decomposition reaction. On a fundamental level, two molecules of NO₂ decompose to give two molecules of NO and one molecule of O₂ – or, two molecules are decomposing to give three. Under normal conditions, all these molecules are gases, so if we decomposed NO₂ in a confined space (such as a sealed container) the pressure would increase (by around 50 %, as one mole of any gas occupies the same volume as one mole of any other).

Mercury fulminate

Walt has already set up the chemistry behind the episode’s pyrotechnic finale on the right-hand side of the blackboard, where we can see:

Hg(OCN)₂ → Hg + 2CO + N₂

Mercury fulminate

Which tells us that mercury fulminate, Hg(OCN)₂, decomposes to mercury, carbon monoxide and nitrogen. It does so extremely rapidly (its detonation velocity is around 4250 m s^-1), and has been used for many years as a primary explosive (a sensitive explosive used to set off a larger charge) as it is quite unstable and liable to go off at any time. Appropriately, the word “fulminate” comes from the Latin fulmināre, which means “to strike with lightning”.

At first glance, Walt’s employment of mercury fulminate (he later refers to it as “fulminated mercury”) seems to be a little unrealistic. He presents Tuco with huge crystals, and if he was that good a crystalliser he’d have won a Nobel Prize all by himself. Previous attempts at crystallising mercury fulminate (the ones that didn’t end in explosions) have only yielded crystals less than 1 mm in length, and it wasn’t until 2007 that crystallographers succeeded in getting a definitive structure. In addition, as I’ve already mentioned, the stuff is incredibly sensitive to shock and friction. Both Tuco’s minders and Walt handle the bag quite roughly, and even if it made it to Tuco’s desk intact the explosion that Walt causes would certainly have set it off.

My best guess, artistic license aside, is that Walt encased safe amounts of mercury fulminate in some kind of crystal to give the appearance of meth whilst retaining some explosive power.

After writing a blog together, putting on a night and producing a few tracks over the last two years, its strange to think that we’ve never collaborated on a mix… After his recent visit to Prague DJ Beware suggested that we put something together for his FM4 UNLTD mix show, so we did and here is the result, we were going to keep exclusively for the show but while we were working on it we also found out that our Dutty Weekend club night will go monthly again so we decided to include it as a kind of celebration, plus the fact that we both think its a really heavy mix and we are so hyped about it we want to get it it out there!! Polenta con Tuco

Ingredientes:
1kg de polenta

1/2kg de carne picada

1 lata de tomate Triturado

1 pizquita de azucar

2 cebollas medianas

2 zanahorias medianas

1 pimiento morron

oregano

sal y pimienta a gusto
Preparación:

Colocar en una sarten la cebolla picada cortada en daditos con un poco de aceite de oliva, luego de rehogar un poco la cebolla incorporar la carne picada , luego el pimiento morron cortado en tiritas, una vez cocinada un poco la carne picada, incorporar el  tomate tritutado, colocar una pizca de azucar, agregarle un poco de agua caliente, dejar cocinar 5 minutos, incorporarle la zanahoria rallada, espolvorear con oregano condimentar con sal y pimienta y dejar cocinar a fuego lento de 10 a 20 minutos.

Mientras tanto colocar una olla , con un poco de agua, dejar hervir e incorporarle la polenta de a poquito y  siempre revolviendo, cocinar un minuto y listo a disfrutar. Acompañar con un lambrusco Rosado fresquito.

Time classificado e com o primeiro lugar garantido. Ninguém pendurado. Apenas os contundidos descansaram, já todo o resto foi para campo, contrariando os boatos no CJ de que entregaríamos o jogo ou entraríamos com o time reserva (que tem ganho de muito time titular). O adversário era o Naútico, que mostrou bastante força na segunda fase e precisava apenas de um empate para se classificar. Para o Juve, era mais um passo rumo ao nosso maior objetivo e isso que nos empolgava. Escolher adversários não estava nos planos.

O jogo começou truncado, com as duas equipes mais preocupadas em não fazer do que tomar gol. Era natural que o Naútico entrasse numa pilha diferente, totalmente ligado, já que uma derrota significava a eliminação da equipe. Mesmo assim o Juve sempre esteve no jogo, equilibrando todas as ações. E foi assim que abriu o placar, após uma jogada pela direita em que Gutinho passou para Fortarel pegar de volêio e fazer um belo gol.

Novamente o Sol castigou bastante a partida e no intervalo o cansaço das equipes era nítido. E nessa hora que um bom elenco faz diferença. O Juve começou a alterar a equipe, poupar quem levava cartão amarelo e mesmo assim o ritmo não mudava. Tuco, de fora da área, fez outro golaço.

O desespero bateu e o Naútico vei com tudo para cima. Na frente, o Juve perdia alguns contra-ataques. Lá atrás, a defesa fazia a sua parte, com destaque para belas defesas de Diego. Apenas nos acréscimos houve uma pequena pane, um deixa que eu deixo, e Roni diminuiu de cabeça.  Fim de jogo, 2 a 1 e agora o adversário da semi-final será o Galoucos, que vem muito empolgado e forte depois de uma recuperação incrível. Na outra semi, Tio Dirdo e Beatrix. Só jogão! E vamos continuar do mesmo jeito, de canto, fazendo a nossa parte e nos divertindo com o futebol e os amigos.

O jogo valia muito. Para o Juve, valia a classificação antecipada garantida matematicamente. Para o Ajax, valia a comprovação de uma boa campanha e um lugar na briga pelas finais. E por isso mesmo que a partida começou pegando fogo, com muita gritaria e diversas disputas de bola duras. Numa delas, Biro acertou as costelas de Gutinho e o clima esquentou.

O Juve respondeu em campo, também marcando firme, dividindo e fazendo aquilo que interessa: gols! O primeiro foi com Tuco, que estava endiabrado, depois de uma jogada pela esquerda, quando ele driblou e completou de direita para as redes.

Já o segundo foi uma pintura. Guga ajeitou de calcanhar e Tuco mandou um balaço no angulo, de fora da área, sem nehuma chance para o goleiro. Por falar no goleiro… o terceiro gol ele deu de presente, quando saiu mal numa bola e trombou com o centroavante Gap. O atacante do Juve nem sabe como como, mas a bola bateu em sua nuca e foi morrer para dentro do gol.

Após o intervalo o ritmo diminuiu. As fortes divididas deram espaço para gols perdidos pelas duas equipes. O Juve ainda mandou duas bolas na trave, mas não conseguiu ampliar o placar.

Com isso, o Juve é o primeiro time a garantir vaga nas finais do campeonato 2009. No próximo sábado o adversário é o Tio Dirdo Branco, e uma vitória pode garantir o primeiro lugar também nessa segunda fase. A campanha está muito bonita, impecável. E continuar respeitando os adversários, jogando com o mesmo espírito e garra. Só não podemos perder para nós mesmos…

Para confirmar a quebra do tabu que havia ocorrido ainda na primeira fase, o Juve repetiu a dose e venceu mais uma vez o Galoucos, agora em partida válida pela segunda fase. E estavam todos em campo, sem os desfalques que marcaram o primeiro confronto, com exceção de Tavinho, Ticão e Anjinho (que continua sem perder para o Juve) pelo Galoucos e Mauro e Diogo pelo Juve. Resultado final: 3 a 0, que poderia ter sido 7 a 3, ou a 6 a 2, tamanha a quantidade de gols perdidos pelas equipes na segunda etapa.

Quem começou dando as cartas na partida foi Tuco, que em pouco mais de 10 minutos já havia criado duas boas chances de gol. E na terceira ele não desperdiçou. Um balaço de fora da área, abrindo o placar. Quase dez minutos depois o Juve ampliou com Luis Gustavo, após uma jogada pela esquerda com Fortarel.

Na sequencia o domínio juventino continou, mas o gol não saía e o Galoucos foi equilibrando a partida. E assim terminou a primeira etapa.

E o segundo tempo trouxe um festival de gol perdidos. Aos 15, o árbitro marcou pênalti em Tuco, num lance muito menos claro do que um anterior, quando Gap sofreu falta desntro da área e ele nada deu. Bola na marca e Tuco, com paradinha e tudo, ampliou o placar.

O que se viu na sequencia foi um festival de gols perdidos. Gap, Rafa, Zumbi, Forta… pelo lado do Juve. Fabião, Bororó, Conrado, Cadinho e Gilvan, pelo lado do Galoucos.

O Juve continua líder, assim como o Nautico, com 10 pontos ganhos. E não vai ser nesse próximo fim de semana que teremos o confronto direto. O próximo passo (um de cada vez) é o Ajax, um jogo que pode confirmar matematicamente a classificação do Juve para a fase final. Para isso, vai ter que continuar impondo seu jogo, com humildade, raça e alegria.

Início da segunda fase e o Juve começou com o pé direito. Vitória convincente e maiúscula contra o Mesa 18, dos nossos amigos Bolacha, Xan e Lelê. O resultado deu a primeira colocação ao Juve, pelo saldo de gols, um a mais que o Tio Dirdo. (não me lembro a ordem dos gols, vou tentar ser o mais fiel possível, me ajudem!)

A vitória começou a ser construída com um belo lançamento de Mauro para Anderson. O lateral tocou na saída do goleiro Testa e Gap completou, de cabeça, para as redes. Logo depois, mesma jogada, sempre nas costas do capitão Lelê e agora gol de Anderson. O terceiro saiu numa jogada pela esquerda entre Guga e Fortarel. Cruzamento de Forta e Guga, de cabeça, fez mais um. Para finalizar, Tuco deixou o seu.

No segundo tempo, o Juve continuou no ataque e foi assim que Rafa, num chute cruzado da direita, marcou o quinto. Tudo estava tranquilo, tão tranquilo, que Mauro, semi-pressionado pelo Bolacha, errou um recuo para Diego e acabou marcando contra. Na sequencia, para não baixar o moral do time, o sexto gol veio com Gutinho, de fora da área, um balaço, o mais bonito do jogo. Depois foi a vez de Zumbi, de cabeça, também fazer o seu. Tuco fez o segundo dele (o oitavo do Juve) e Guga, apenas colocando no canto do goleiro, fechou a goleada.

Sábado que vem é contra o Beatrix, o velho e bom rival. Promessa de fortes emoções…

Não tem como não começar o texto sem a batida frase “tabus existem para serem quebrados”. Juventude e Galoucos tem quase a mesma “idade”, eles são um ou dois anos mais velhos, então podemos dizer que os times cresceram juntos. Assim como dois amigos, que se divertem juntos, torcem um pelo outro, mas quando a disputa é entre eles, ai é outra história. Os dois times fizeram churrascos juntos, montaram um inesquecível bloco de Carnaval (confira as fotos clicando no Baú do Juve), organizaram torcidas, mas quando o jogo era entre eles o bicho pegava a ponto das namoradas/esposas sempre perguntarem “Como vocês conseguem brigar tanto e depois tomar cerveja juntos?”… coisas que as mulheres nunca vão entender.

E durante muito tempo o Galoucos levou vantagem nesse confronto. Na verdade, sempre levou, sempre ganhou. Foram vários grande embates, decisivos, principalmente no passado, já que nos últimos 4 ou 5 anos, primeiro por causa das “férias” do Galoucos e depois porque estávamos em divisões diferentes, o jogo não aconteceu. Só que sábado a história mudou. E mudou de maneira bonita. Os times mudaram, jogadores idem, mas estavam em campo, depois de muito tempo, Juventude e Galoucos.

A quebra desse tabu começou a ser desenhada com Fortarel, aproveitando uma sobra na grande área. Depois, jogada de Forta e gol de Mauro, desviando a bola no primeiro pau. Mais alguns minutos e novo gol de Mauro, agora de cabeça, após cobrança de escanteio. Para fechar a etapa inicial, Guga, pegando um rebote de fora da área marcou o quarto gol. Ainda antes do apito, o Galoucos descontou, num lance confuso, com Ricardinho.

Veio o segundo tempo e com ele um festival de gols perdidos, ora por incompetência/falta de sorte nossa, ora por competência do goleiro Bolha. Glédson meteu a mão na bola e foi expulso. Tuco, após uma quebrada de bola de Thalão, fez o quinto gol. Guga, driblando o marcador e batendo, o sexto. Zumbi perdeu o sétimo, o oitavo…

Fim de jogo, fim de tabu. Um tabu saudável, que lembra os bons e velhos tempos do campeonato. Mas que precisava ser quebrado um dia. E foi, com estilo.

Falatndo uma rodada para o fim da primeira fase o Juve já garantiu o primeiro lugar do grupo – a classificação para o segundo já estava assegurada. Uma liderança que, na prática, não significa vantagem alguma, mas que sempre foi e sempre será o objetivo do Juventude, independente da fase, série, etc. Sábado que vem é contra o Galaxy, até lá!

Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo è indubbiamente il più compiuto dei suoi tre western.

Assolutamente. È la storia di tre uomini che, sullo sfondo della guerra di Secessione, inseguono un tesoro e combattono una loro guerra privata. Grande e piccola Storia coincidono, come sempre nei miei film. L’idea per il film mi è venuta dal celebre discorso di Chaplin che concludeva Monsieur Verdoux. L’autodifesa di un assassino: Verdoux che, ammettendo di avere ucciso, si dichiara un dilettante di fronte agli eccidi dai grandi del suo tempo, rappresenta il massimo dell’accusa. E la stessa cosa fa Tuco di fronte al massacro del ponte di Legstone, una sequenza che mi è in parte stata ispirata da alcune pagine di Un anno sull’altopiano di Lassù . C’è chi trova nel film anche echi Keatoniani, e mi sta bene. Insomma della “trilogia del dollaro” è l’episodio più complesso e completo, quello in cui ho raggiunto pienamente quel tono picaresco che rappresenta il mio obiettivo principale. E poi, il film contiene una sequenza, quella del “triello”, che mi ha dato grandissime soddisfazioni. Pensi che all’Università del Cinema di Los Angeles gli studenti la esaminano fotogramma per fotogramma: costituisce un esempio di montaggio.

Di tutti i personaggi dei suoi film, lei sembra provare un particolare affetto per il messicano Tuco..

È vero. Tuco rappresenta, così come poi Cheyenne, tutte le contraddizioni dell’America, e in parte anche le mie. Avrebbe voluto interpretarlo Volontè, ma non mi sembrava una scelta giusta. Sarebbe diventato un personaggio nevrotico, e io invece avevo bisogno di naturale talento comico. Così scelsi Eli Wallach, di solito impiegato in parti drammatiche. Wallach aveva in se qualcosa di chapliniano, qualcosa che evidentemente molti non hanno mai capito. E invece per Tuco fu perfetto.

Qual è il suo Western preferito?

Senza dubbio L’uomo che uccise Liberty Valance, e chiaramente più per una questione tematica che per questione di stile. È il film in cui Ford per la prima volta si è smentito: ha mostrato la vera faccia del West e, abbandonando il suo tradizionale ottimismo, ha abbracciato una visione più realistica e, di conseguenza, pessimista. Ha fatto vedere l’altra faccia del mito.

Il suo rapporto con Ford ?

Una grande, sconfinata ammirazione, pur nella radicale diversità di prospettive che ci contraddistingue. D’altronde non avrei proprio potuto esordire in un genere facendo l’imitatore di qualcun altro. Lui aveva quella visione ariosa, romantica (ma sempre realistica) del West, ed era giusto che fosse così. La sua foto con dedica («To Sergio Leone with admiration. John Ford»)è uno dei miei ricordi più cari e il mio massimo motivo di orgoglio. Ciò non toglie che anche lui abbia commesso i suoi errori. Non gli perdono ad esempio Un uomo tranquillo, la favola dell’Irlanda verde e bonacciona, mentre in realtà il paese era dilaniato dalla guerra dell’IRA. Per un regista che in passato aveva diretto Il Traditore, la trovo una rappresentazione inconcepibile.
