My bad for not posting this on Friday. Friday was a very difficult day for me and I needed to take a breather. Hope you all can forgive me on that. Still, I’m back on my grind and 30 days/30 songs but instead of writing some clever write-up, Milly can explain these two tracks better than I could right now:

Night & Day: This song was a spur of the moment type of thing! Milly originally wrote it for himself & himself ONLY with 2 verses and a hook. But once he arrived and left the studio with the song recorded it featured himself, Conscious (Y.H.G.M affiliated artist) & Avi Streetz. These 3 young artists went in over Kid Cudi’s “Day n Night” although the quality isn’t as good as it should be you can understand the words on the song and it is what it is for what it was! … write ya life away!

And here is what he has to say about Turn The Page:

Turn The Page: On this track, Milly declares that he does this music shit, simply because he’s “nice wit it.” He explains how he used to deal in illegal drug hustling and stopped to focus on music so that he wouldn’t get too deep into that lifestyle! He then takes aim at people who do not take their musical craft seriously. Just “turn the page”, it’s a new chapter!

Also, after the jump, I have a nice video package about Mr. Milly for ya. Enjoy!

Anyway.

I TOLD YOU SO!

Since the fucking 80s(1986) I’ve been telling anybody that would listen that human teleportation is an accident waiting to happen and that Howard Jones was the future of music.

As usual I was right.

And so the worst has happened.

Last month Mr. Impatience, Bob Seger teleported himself to a golf match unaware that Ernest Borgnine was napping in-between performing routine maintenence in the same pod.

Happy now people?

Recipe for disaster:

* I didn’t say “her” because I wouldn’t want to shake the woman’s hand that says “I told you so” more than me. I’d call her a steady stream of names and have sex with her friends in an effort to give her as many disorders as possible because it’s funny and also because I’m a dick, Ms. Know it All Hammer Toe.

I have never read one of Nora Robert’s books nor have I ever met the woman but I absolutely despise her. So shoot me. I have my reasons though.

I live in Boonsboro and grew up in Keedysville. Nora Roberts lives in Keedysville. I moved to boonsboro a few years ago and I am now located down the street from her book store, restaurant, and pizza place. The word “annoyed” can’t even describe how I feel.

There are 4 properties on the square, three of which are owned by Nora Roberts or her family members. I’ve heard rumors of her buying more, but we shall see. Here’s what I can’t stand. Every month or so she has one of her book signings at her silly little book store. Which in turn brings a hundred or so people to our town. It wouldn’t be a problem if the town was big. But it’s not, it’s a tiny tiny town. Those people who come take up the street in front of MY home, and all along the streets. They are camped out at 2 am making a terrible racket. I hate those days. I really, really hate those days. Talk about being late to work? I only work about a mile away, but it takes FOREVER.

Well, I think it’s a money grubbing skeem. They see her at the book store, they eat at one of the two family owened restaurants sitting on the square. People say, “Well it brings money to boonsboro” How? They eat at THEIR restaurants and stay at HER Inn. Puh-lease. Vesta’s pizza sucks. Pallette’s food is terrible. The book store is fun as long as it isn’t flogged with hundreds of people. The Inn….well…

The Inn was the last straw. There is an on going joke in town that it’s turning into NoraRobetsville. Gag me with a fucking spoon.

Oh! Lies! I was reading the website about her Inn for fun and I came across this..

“Fire companies from three states raced to Boonsboro to assist, and together fought the fire throughout the day.”

Okay, the fire at the Inn lasted about an hour. And also, I was home that day, and being down the street I raced down to jump for joy and the burning of the witch’s property! Boonsboro and Sharpsburg fire company’s were there, maybe Dargan I can’t remember. Those are Maryland companies. There were no other state’s that “raced to Boonsboro ro assist” and the fire was out in a hour. They didn’t fight it all day. Moron. She isn’t as popular around here as she would like to think.

I’m tired of this woman taking over our town and using our town to hord her family’s money and make millions. And even now as I look down the street to those places, I hope they fail miserably. So shoot me. I hate the woman.

Metallica – Turn the page

Fix in concordanta cu felul in care ma simt acum. Fix in tune cu starea mea.

Turn the page …

Bob Seger wrote one of the most simple and realistic songs about the dark side of the entertainment

Bob Seger wrote one of the most simple and realistic songs about the dark side of the entertainment business in his brilliant piece, “Turn the Page,” originally released on his 1973 album, Back In ‘72.

It’s easy to assume your favorite band has the perfect life when you see them in magazines, on TV and up on stage. They get special privileges, they get the girls (or guys), they get really cool free stuff and people want their autograph.

However, this is usually a brief, short-lived set of circumstances. Remember, we are talking about people here, human beings, as products. The emotions of life don’t stop just because you’re “famous,” and they are often more intense.

When the radio singles are no longer coming, the concert demand has slowed and album sales have fallen off, few care about the “famous one(s)” any longer.

But when the radio singles are coming, the concert tickets are being bought and your stuff is selling, no one cares then either, they just pretend to.

Seger sums up the loneliness, the boredom, the emptiness and the rut of life on the road (of course its implications go beyond the road life) in “Turn the Page.” One of the most powerful lines of the song says:

Out there in the spotlight, you’re a million miles away

Every ounce of energy you try to give away

As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play

Metallica took the song and added further drama to it when they released it on their 1998 album, Garage Inc., and applied the song’s storyline to the life of a stripper. Check out this intense video, and be reminded that the entertainment industry is rife with heartache around every corner, and fleeting with every instant it offers.

My answer to an extremely tight personal economy, coupled with my need to get healthy, and a desire to further lessen my carbon footprint while enjoying more of life, led to the re-discovery and subsequent clean-up of one of my favorite bikes. I live roughly 3.2 miles from town, and it made no sense to add to the ugly statistics regarding automobile commutes (82 percent of trips five miles or less are made by personal motor vehicle). It made tons of sense to save money, burn some calories (rather than fossil fuels), and enjoy a scenic bike ride whenever there’s a need to go to town. My cruiser/chopper was called into service.

It was a gorgeous Monday morning and my mood was riding high (cycling pun intended). I had prepped the backpack for the day, and located my iPod Shuffle. I wedged my Etyomic 6i’s into my head, threw on the backpack and hit play. The iPod was in shuffle mode, so I had no idea what was about to enter my head. And then something wonderful happened….

It’s a seven-story mountain. It’s a long, long life ahead. Got to find a voice and fill my throat again. Why this song? A tune that’s gotten me through low moments during my divorce, and that’s helped me face and surmount many sizable challenges. A song that strikes a chord deep within me, one of those we all have that touches our soul. Why now? What was the chance of this happening? A BHS (big huge smile) burst forth as I pushed the bike out the door. The first few turns of bike pedals in a long time led to absolute bliss.

We all have these moments. Moments SQuire Rushnell has aptly named “God Winks” . They’re moments that touch something deep inside. Some last only a blink, while others have a wonderful depth of duration (like my bike ride did on this day). Some of us recognize them, while others just smile, perhaps mutter “cool”, and move on. Many of us know they’re indicators we’re headed in the right direction, and that all is well. Others rack them up as mere coincidence or silly happenstance.

We enjoy and remember some of these moments more vividly than others, depending on how well we’ve tuned in. As we should, because they’re not just nods or affirmations, they’re truly gifts. At one time or another we’ve all decided to take the path less traveled (like Happy Lotus/Jewel, Dreams, Faith & Me or Serene Balance/Leap Of Faith). Then we’ve asked ourselves if we’ve done the right thing, and wait for the answers. And we do receive an answer to these questions, we just don’t recognize them because we’re not of a quiet mind. We often fail to notice moments of grand affirmation because they’re so very sublime. If you watch and listen carefully, however, you can see glimmers in the darkness, and hear whispers on the wind. We don’t always receive them when we want to, but they’re there, arriving often when we least expect it.

I thought I’d write more about other such moments I’ve had, but decided it might block your ability to reach inside and renew a few you’ve experienced. Suffice it to say I have many I’m fond of that I will forever cherish. Here’s just a handful of mine to lend a spark to your own personal fire:

Papa Cardinal

The arrow on the pipe that appeared at just the right moment, telling me I was headed in the right direction to see some of Marquette’s prettiest falls – and have a moment with my deceased father. The appearance of a male cardinal when things are rough (my Mom and I shared a belief Dad’s spirit was in cardinals, his favorite bird). Loons that answered one night when I asked myself some difficult questions. The handshake when I met my wife for the very first time – a handshake I oddly, rapidly withdrew from, like I’d been shocked in some way.

When one of these moments presents itself, stop and give yourself a few more seconds to think about it. Make it a gift to yourself by making a memory of it. It doesn’t matter how silly you think it is. Hell, who cares what others think when it comes to these types of things? These are your special moments, your winks, your signposts along the journey telling you you’re going to be OK, you’ve done the right thing, you’re on the right path.

Because you are.

Maybe your bike should get dusted off too! Check out –> www.2milechallenge.com or www.1world2wheels.org

Bob Seger

Metallica:

On a long and lonesome highway east of omaha
You can listen to the engines moaning out as one note song
You think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before

But your thoughts will soon be wandering the way they always do
When youre riding sixteen hours and theres nothing much to do
And you dont feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through

Here I am – on the road again
There I am – up on the stage
Here I go – playing star again
There I go – turn the page

So you walk into this restaurant strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you, as youre shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesnt bother you, but you just want to explode

Yeah, most times you cant hear em talk, other times you can
All the same old clichs, is it woman? is it man?
And you always seem outnumbered, you dont dare make a stand
Make your stand

Here I am – on the road again
There I am – up on the stage
Here I go – playing star again
There I go – turn the page

Oo-ooh, out there in the spotlight, youre a million miles away
Every ounce of energy you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play, yeah

Later in the evening, you lie awake in bed
With the echoes of the amplifiers ringing in your head
You smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said
What she said

He-ey

Yeah
And here I am – on the road again
There I am – up on a stage
Here I go – playing star again
There I go – turn the page

I pulled into the convenient store blasting Turn the Page, which, as a trivial fact, was written in WI. Anyway, I whistled it as I hustled into the store and as I neared the back, I heard a cacophony of lisps. I immediately about faced. Not that I’m homophobic, but it was simply too early for all that flamboyance.

I snagged some chocolate milk and peppermint gum, the latter of which I have grown an affinity towards since it enhances blood flow to the brain. More trivia. Anyway, I went to check out, and some guy wearing a black zip down hoodie and brown jeans lisped for some camel lightss. I, for one, did not know there was a prevalent demand for products made of brown denim, especially in the gay community. But hey, to each his own.

I noticed before that this guy had mutton chops, but as he turned to the side, I could see the chops in their full glory. I wondered at these anachronistic fallacies. Now, I’m not making fun of this poor guy, I was simply befuddled at the train of thought that must have been coursing through his mind as he started his razor about an inch forward from his ear, then drew it down at a 40 degree angle for a good 3-4 inches, then abruptly stopped and drew it back towards his ear at a 90 degree angle, parallel to the ground.

When he was done did he point gun hands at the mirror, shoot them, and think to himself, “dang, I look good.”? Did he do it to spite anybody with eyesight? Did he have a profound respect for our founding fathers, namely Alexander Hamilton? Did he see his favorite non conformist sporting them on TV and decide that he was so good at non-conforming that he would non-conform along with him?

My favorite theory is that it was a congenital birth defect that he could not rid himself of, because what would be more amusing than a baby with prodigious mutton chops? If that image doesn’t tickle your funny bone, your sense of humor may need to be reassessed. Whatever the case, the sight was too vivid not to recount.

i don’t know how i’m going to say goodbye

what would i do when some strange morning i find you gone
what would i do there’s no hope left for me to go on
all i ever wanted was the love that we found
when i turn the page you were there

i needed you
you needed me
you came along into my world you came and helped me see
my bestfriend
on a winter’s night
you came along and gave me hope you brought my dreams alive

you came and answered my every prayer
you turned my life into something better
i don’t know how i’m going to say goodbye

what would i do when some strange morning i find you gone
what would i do there’s no hope left for me to go on
all i ever wanted was the love that we found
when i turn the page you were there

On a long and lonesome highway
East of Omaha
You can listen to the engine
moanin’ out his one note song
You can think about the woman
or the girl you knew the night before
But your thoughts will soon be wandering
the way they always do
When you’re ridin’ sixteen hours
and there’s nothin’ much to do
And you don’t feel much like ridin’,
you just wish the trip was through

Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go

Well you walk into a restaurant,
strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you
as you’re shakin’ off the cold
You pretend it doesn’t bother you
but you just want to explode
Most times you can’t hear ‘em talk,
other times you can
All the same old cliches,
“Is that a woman or a man?”
And you always seem outnumbered,
you don’t dare make a stand

Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin’ star again
There I go
Turn the page

Out there in the spotlight
you’re a million miles away
Every ounce of energy
you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body
like the music that you play
Later in the evening
as you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers
ringin’ in your head
You smoke the day’s last cigarette,
rememberin’ what she said

Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin’ star again
There I go
Turn the page

Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin’ star again
There I go
There I go

‘Turn the Page’ on Bob Segerin vuodelta 1973 albumin ‘Back in 72′ hittibiisejä. Sopii nimensä puolesta tämän sunnuntain klassikkobiisiksi. Bob Seger on jälleen yksi niitä pitkän linjan rokkimiehiä, joita luvattoman vähän kuulee meidän radioiden soittolistoilla.

Sivun kääntö versioita ovat tehneet mm. Metallica, Waylon Jennings ja Kid Rock.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Tuossa Parallel Lines otsakkeen alla on uuden sivun, Sunday Classic, otsake.
