Ich nehme einen tiefen Zug vom Joint und reiche ihn an Tonne weiter. Der Sommer ist bunt wie der Herbst. Noch Stunden schaue ich dem qualmenden Faden hinterher, der beim Ausatmen meinen Mund verlässt. Ich schwebe ihm hinterher.
AC/DC wird zunehmend melodischer. Glocke singt „Alle meine Entchen“ dazu. Ich schaue auf ihn herab. Er sieht lächerlich aus. Lächeln. Immer lächeln. So wie Lissy. Die zieht gerade am Joint. Noch eine halbe Runde, dann ist er wieder bei mir.
Ein Schimmel läuft quer durch den Stadtpark. Ich reibe mir die Augen, kann ihm kaum folgen. Ich beobachte die anderen. Wie Sherlock. Keiner sagt was. Glocke singt „Da steht ein Pferd auf dem Flur“.
Muss ich jetzt aufpassen, dass ich nicht in Pferdeäpfel trete? Die Tüte ist zurück. Ich ziehe einmal, zweimal, …

Ich brumme. Ein Bär. Ein großer, brauner Brummbär. Ich halte es nicht mehr aus. Schweben reicht nicht. „Habt ihr zufällig eben auch einen Gaul gesehen?“

La Dirección Municipal para la Inclusión de Personas con Discapacidad de la Secretaría de Salud Pública y el Consejo Municipal de la Discapacidad junto al Programa Ceroveinticinco de la Secretaría de Cultura y Educación, convocan al concurso de fotografía digital, “Ciudad, discapacidad y convivencia”.

Podrán participar todos los jóvenes que tengan entre12 y 18 años, enviando una foto vinculada a la temática de la convivencia y el encuentro de las diferencias, con particular acento en las relaciones que entablan las personas con discapacidad en el espacio público de la ciudad de Rosario. Las fotos podrán ser tomadas con cámaras digitales o celulares y no podrán superar 1MB.

Las obras deberá mandarse por mail hasta el 27 de noviembre, al correo dirdiscapacidad@rosario.gov.ar

Se otorgará un 1º y 2º premio en ambas categorías (fotografías tomadas con cámaras y con teléfonos celulares) que corresponden a un celular con cámara integrada y una cámara digital.

O Centro Cultural Os Muíños de Santiago de Oliveira organiza tódolos venres ás doce da noite un Gran Baile amenizado polo dúo Alameda. No transcurso da velada haberá sorteos con magníficos premios. Ademais, na cafetería deste centro cultural estase a organizar un Campionato de Tute tódolos sábados a partires das 22:30 horas. In terms of blogging, I think I have made a good effort in order to keep up with posting regularly. Most of the post are related to some topics we have discussed/mentioned in the lecture or tutorial, and also my own experience (as Internet user and digital media consumer). In each post, I try to voice out my opinion or point of view, so by blogging, it actually helps me to explore the topics even further.

The blog also acts as a journal – where I keep a track of how I am going with my projects (e.g portfolio).

I definitely think I should try to come up with more post that is more related to the topics in the subject and try to relate what I’ve learnt in class to other things. I also need to push myself to post on time (deadline) – instead of saving it as a draft and keep coming back later to finish my post.

- Week 9 Tute.

In preparation for the final project, we were asked to do a class-exercise that required us to demonstrate our excellent skill in HTML (acquired throughout the days spent in Maclab eating and drinking HTML codes, no other).

The task is to create a web page that looks like this:

I, of course, nearly attempted suicide when he asked us to do this task. I mean, I thought I’m done and over with HTML codes by September 7th. Sadly, no – there are certain things that I couldn’t control in life; one of them is this exercise.

Anyway, regardless of my suicidal thoughts, I proceeded to open Text Wrangler and immediately immersed myself in the world of HTML yet again.

I didn’t not have any difficulties while creating the web page. The design that Nate wanted was quite similar to my portfolio design, so I already have a rough idea of the codes I need to use.

Well, firstly, this design involves a serious dose of tables. Although table-coding looks ridiculously complicated, practice makes perfect and so let’s just get started.

Started the design by inserting the header. After the header, I inserted a table with three columns with 3 different widths.

Once the table is created, the template is pretty much set up and we can begin with changing the background colour, font colour, etc.

For the Site Details at the bottom of the page, I created another table – but this one, only with one column. The smaller font can be adjusted by changing the font size (obviously), or just use smaller header code such as <*h6*>.

When creating webpages, my only advice is to first focus on the overall template instead of worrying about the font colour or background colour. I often find myself dwelling on these things for far too long and sometimes worried too much because the *font style=”red”* codes are not working. Definitely get your template up and ready first before you tweaked around with the fonts and colours.

As for this exercise, I’m quite proud to say that I’ve completed the task before the class ended. And Nate said, it looked good.

I’m a regular blog readers – so it’s hard for me to just pick a blog to adopt. I’ve adopted so many blogs over the last few years and geez, I like them all. Anyway, for this Adopt a Blog (Post), I think I’m going to focus on GWAS – Girl With A Satchel.

GWAS is written by Erica Bartle – she is a freelance journalist and before jumping into the blogosphere, she used to work in the magazine industry. The daily post of GWAS usually consist of magazine reviews and updates (latest covers, magazines sales report, etc) and a mix of pop-culture, fashion and other girly things. The blog is intended for young women (up to 30 year old) who have a great interest in magazines, the print/media industry and pop-culture. Since its beginning in 2007, GWAS has grown to be one of Australian famous blogs and it is often cited or mentioned in various publication.

In the past few months, Erica had started introducing a number of contributors to her blog – one of them is based in New York and she is responsible for weekly updates on the latest pop culture (fashion, events, etc) fresh from the USA. Sometimes, there is also a guest-blogger who volunteered to do a magazine review.

Reading the blog for, at least, the past 12 months, I’ve seen some changes made to the blog. GWAS that used to only focus on magazines review & pop-culture updates have started introducing regular fashion-related post, book reviews and also interviews of known figures in the media industry.

Although GWAS claimed to be a self-funded blog, the blog accept sponsorship from a range of companies. Most of the sponsors are fashion brand (bridal services, online shops) – targeting the audience of the blog.

In a way, reading GWAS does motivate me to be produce a substantial blog content in a regular basis. I think all the post in GWAS were carefully prepared. The only thing I don’t really like about this blog is sometimes, the post are quite long and it’s probably not the best-suited for the online publication.

In terms of apperance/design, GWAS use simple 3 column layout (supported by Blogger) with personalised header. On the side, there are various buttons that link to the tags (eg. Media Musings) and also pictures of the latest magazine covers and pages. As GWAS decided to stick with the template provided by Blogger, the design of the blog is quite standard, nothing very fancy. However, with the simple design, easy navigation of the webpage is maintained.

In this week’s tute, we’re supposed to familiarize ourselves with embedding videos and images to both our blog and our webpage (for the portfolio). I’ve got no problems with this due to excessive experience of uploading tons of images and videos in my Blogspot.

With all those experience, the tasks should not be nothing, but piece of cake. To my surprise, embedding Video to this blog became a problem for me. The Stone Age WP blog doesn’t take the HTML code provided by YouTube. In other words, I can’t embed a video onto my blog post.

Later in the day, HTML-genius and avid LJ user Mira, figured a way on how to manipulate the code so that it’d work in the old blog. The magic spell is <*lj-embed*>. LJ = Live Journal. Now, this proves my point that Word Press is lame.

Now, uploading images… Some of my friends were confused by WordPress simple uploader. Oh, believe me, I wanted to die  murder WordPress when I first attempted uploading image to the blog. The old WP doesn’t seem to allow us to upload images from our computer. The simple uploader always asked for the URL for the image – which is annoying. The ‘right’ way to upload a picture from our computer is through the Uploader located at the botom of the text box.

Once uploaded, you can click ‘Use Original’ or ‘Use Thumbnail’ and then click, ‘Send to Text Editor’. I’m still not entirely happy with this. The images usually comes out funny looking (resized and pixelated). What I would recommend is to upload your images to some image-hosting websites, such as Photobucket, and then using the codes provided. It will make sure that the resolution and the size of the image is maintained.

Task: Review the criteria you created in the first workshop blog post. This may mean revising and updating this list as you have learnt more about the course. Write your revised list of activities in a new blog post. Title your post ‘Participation (workshop 2)’ and put it in your participation category on your blog. Now add to each criteria a 1- 2 line explanatory description indicating why or how doing this will contribute to your learning in Networked Media. The idea is to define more specific, tangible outcomes for each of the ten criteria you have listed.

Attend lectures and tute.

Participate in tute/engange in class activity – Attending lectures and tutorial is crucial because that’s where most information/content for the course is delivered. Other than just being present in the lecture and tute, it’s also important to engage in class discussion – it demonstrates that I understand the course thoroughly and it allows me to develop further ideas and opinions with others.

Update blogs regularly – This blog acts as a journal where I can reflect on my learning process in NM and share opinions and ideas. So far I’ve been able to maintain the blog up to standard. Although I think I’ll need to blog more regularly and come up with post that is more related to the course.

Read other people’s blogs and give constructive feedback to each other – Other people’s blog can become a source of information and inspirations; that would give us a different perspectives.

Engage with material outside the course & make relations to the things we learn – Ensuring that we are not able to apply the things that we learn in a wider context – expanding our skills and knowledge.

Make mistakes, reflect and learn from it - I’d like to believe that there’s no such things as failure as long as I have tried.

Try to resolve problems (proactively) – Help us to identify the problems and also challenge us to figure out ways to fix the problems. We learn better when we’re able to go through this process, rather than just giving up and asking someone else to fix the problems for us.

Das könnte jetzt glatt ein Märchen werden. Wird es aber nicht. Im Gegenteil: Es ist die bittere Realität.

Während der Eigentümerversammlung im Jahr 2008 wurde beschlossen, die maroden Balkon-Kästen, die nach Aussage des Architekten zu damaligen (Bau)Zeiten durchaus den damaligen Standards entsprachen (hat er sie gebaut resp. daran mitgewirkt?), sanieren zu lassen. Sie zeigen mittlerweile so genannte Haarrisse, durch die Feuchtigkeit eindringen kann. Auch die Seitenverkleidungen sind an den Oberkanten alles andere als ansehnlich.

Also lautet der Beschluss, dass man da was tuen muss.

Angedacht wurden die Maßnahmen für Herbst 2008. Hilfsweise wurde das Frühjahr 2009 ins Auge gefasst.

Es könnte ja – rein theoretisch, versteht sich – sein, dass der eine oder andere Bewohner mit dem Gedanken spielt, diese verdammten Kästen zu bepflanzen. Dafür sind sie ja nun einmal da. Die meisten haben das auch gemacht, allerdings mit der gebotenen Vorsicht, falls binnen weniger Tage alles entfernt werden müsste. Denn die Balkonkästen sollten ja saniert werden.

Im Mai 2009 teilte der Verwalter dann mit, dass wir möglicherweise bereits bemerkt hätten, dass weder im Herbst 2008, noch im Frühjahr 2009 an den Balkonkästen etwas unternommen worden war.

Ach was!

Erneut erklärte der Architekt lang und breit, was genau gemacht werden müsse und aus welchen Gründen.

Der nächste Beschluss lautete also, dass im Herbst 2009 mit den Arbeiten begonnen werden würde. Natürlich nach rechtzeitiger Ankündigung, damit die Hausbewohner ihre Pflanzen zuvor in Sicherheit bringen können.

Nun ist ja die Umschreibung “rechtzeitig” ein relativ dehnbarer Begriff. Ich persönlich empfinde es nicht als “rechtzeitig”, wenn aus heiterem Himmel ein höllisches Gepolter hinter dem Haus losgeht, ohne dass auch nur IRGENDein Hausbewohner weiß, was das soll. Das allein machte mich jedoch nicht einmal stutzig: So ruhig und harmonisch diese Wohngegend viele Jahre war, wird sie in den letzten Monaten, aus verschiedenen Gründen, immer lauter und ungemütlicher. Mir reicht es hier bald.

Erst als ein Hausbewohner die Arbeiter lautstark zum sofortigen Aufhören aufforderte, schoss ich auf den Balkon und wollte wissen, was da los ist. Könnte ja sein, dass Hilfe benötigt wird. Und was sah ich? Hinter dem Haus wurden Massen an Stangen, Leitern und Bohlen heran geschleppt. Offensichtlich wollte da jemand ein Gerüst aufbauen. Beziehungsweise mehrere. Der Hausbewohner hatte sich völlig zu recht aufgeregt, denn schließlich muss der Sockel des Gerüsts an diesem Haus auf seiner Terrasse stehen. Da er bei der Eigentümerversammlung nicht anwesend war, konnte er nicht wissen, was das überhaupt alles soll.

Mir schoss in dem Moment fast Dampf aus den Ohren! So sieht also rechtzeitig aus, ja?! Na, toll! Mein Balkonkasten stand auf ca. drei Metern noch voll in Blüte:

Ist es völlig unrealistisch, anzunehmen, dass der liebste Herr Verwalter nicht bei den Firmen, die einrüsten und malern, angerufen, den Auftrag erteilt und gefragt hat, wann sie anfangen, um zur Antwort zu bekommen „In drei Minuten geht es los“? Der hat doch wochenlang Zeit gehabt, uns zu informieren. Und das ist nicht zu schaffen?

Ach.

Irgendwann klingelte meine Nachbarin, die ihrerseits den Vorarbeiter ausfindig gemacht und gefragt hatte, was denn nun wohl geplant sei. Es handelte sich tatsächlich um den Gerüstbau zur Sanierung der Balkonkästen. Danke an die Hausverwaltung an dieser Stelle, für die “rechtzeitige” Information, wann es losgeht. Meine Nachbarin teilte mir weiter mit, dass an diesem und dem nächsten Tag noch nichts an den Kästen gemacht würde, so dass wir am Folgetag Zeit hätten, um die Kästen zu räumen.

Kurz zuvor hatte ich – nicht wissend, wann es losgehen wird – noch neue Pflanzen gekauft und eingesetzt. Wer mir das bezahlt, wenn die Pflanzen jetzt nach Rücksetzung in kleine Pötte eingehen, weiß ich noch nicht. Dienstag habe ich mir händeringend drei Stunden abgequält und meine Arbeit liegen lassen (müssen), um den Balkonkasten zu leeren und meine Pflanzen zu evakuieren, weil es ja Mittwoch losgehen sollte. Wer mir das bezahlt, weiß ich auch noch nicht. Aber wen ich dafür „umbringen“ werde, wenn ich ihn erwische … ja, da habe ich schon eine leise Idee!

Das alles heißt aber natürlich keinesfalls, dass es am Mittwoch tatsächlich losging:

29.09.: Chance, die Pflanzen zu evakuieren
30.09.: geht’s los.

Geht es los? Denkste! Nüscht war! Kein Arbeiter zu sehen, folglich keine Arbeiten. Okay, nächste Chance:

01.10.: Geht’s endlich los?

Denkste (2)! Wieder nix. Kein Arbeiter, keine Arbeiten.

02.10.: Zum Wochenende Arbeits-Start?

Nein, natürlich nicht.

Auch habe ich den Hausverwalter noch nicht gesehen. Immerhin hat er es verpennt, uns rechtzeitig (…) zu informieren. Es könnte ja durchaus sein, dass der eine oder andere Bewohner im Urlaub ist und seinen Balkonkasten dem entsprechend gar nicht räumen kann. Also ist es doch wohl die Aufgabe des Hausverwalters, hier blitzartig anzutanzen, die Gerüste zu erklimmen und nachzusehen, ob bei insgesamt 24 Wohneinheiten in drei Häusern alle Pflanzen entfernt wurden, damit sie während der Arbeiten nicht geschrottet werden, oder?

ODER?

Mein Balkonkasten sieht so trostlos aus wie noch nie! Das ist der klägliche Rest, den ich nicht heraus nehmen konnte, weil sie dann garantiert eingehen. Tüten müssen reichen:

Inzwischen ist es Freitagnachmittag. Die Arbeiter sind nach wie vor nicht (mehr) zu sehen, mit den Arbeiten wurde nicht einmal begonnen. Stattdessen haben wir Dank längst aufgebauter Gerüste gar prächtige Hintereingänge. Es ist ein Leichtes, die erste Plattform zu erklimmen und dann mittels der auf jeder weiteren Plattform befindlichen Leiter bis ins oberste Stockwerk zu klettern. Zwischendurch kann man mal in aller Ruhe gucken, ob irgendwo eine Balkontür offen oder wenigstens auf kipp steht, die man dann aufbrechen kann, um die jeweilige Wohnung in Ruhe auszuräumen, falls die Bewohner beispielsweise im Urlaub sind und keine Ahnung davon haben, dass das Haus eingerüstet ist.

Im Moment ist es also sehr leicht, mich überraschenderweise zu besuchen:

Einfach bei Nacht, sogar ganz ohne Nebel, hinter das Haus gehen und hoch kommen. Die Leiter befindet sich sozusagen direkt vor meinem Schlafzimmerfenster, da dort auch der Balkon ist. Ich könnte natürlich, zur Vereinfachung des Einstiegs, zusätzlich mein Haar herunter lassen, damit die erste Plattform noch leichter erklommen werden kann. Aber wie gesagt: Es ist ja kein Märchen, sondern bittere Realität! Nur zu Rapunzel …

… ja, es könnte durchaus sein, dass ich dazu bald werde! *ARRRRGH!
