This post is focusing on the jacket and how to fit it to my body. I have a slight waist with a belly so I need something that adds definition and disguises my tummy. A single breasted jacket with shape detailing, such as princess seams, can be a life saver. Yeah, I haven’t been as dedicated to working out since the baby.  And, I am on the type of  restricted budget you only find in Orwell novels. Yet, I digress.

I am going to try and make this as short, sweet, & as succint as possible. It’s the holidays and I understand that you may not have a lot of time to dawdle. I have this amazing sequin dress I want to wear to a party. A dress is only a dress (even a sequin one) if it isn’t styled properly. Don’t depend on the sequins to ferret you into the highly stylish category in one fell swoop. So, I decided to add a jacket (preferably of a tux style), some light jewelry (since the dress shines enough on its own), a clutch, & shoes.

Vaya que me eh olvidado del blog por completo, me siento tan apenado, más aun porque las visitas se fueron a pique. Pero bueno, no merezco menos, tengo varias entradas preparadas, solo me falta un poco de empuje y que mi chava me de chance.

What a truly amazing dog! How often do we forget these are “man’s best friends.” I know my Tinkerbell is my best friend. How many times has she awaken me from a sound sleep when my blood sugar was dropping too low. I know now, if she wakes me I had better check my blood sugar. When will we learn to love and respect these devoted animals and “man’s best friends?”

Les tengo que comentar que a veces se me safa un poco la canica [México] y me da por Lucrar con lo que más me gusta. Soy un universitario y de Ciencias de la Computación así algunos podrán decir que soy un estudihambre, todavía más si hablamos de esta época de crisis.

Pero a lo que voy y algo por lo que abrí este blog: ¿Te imaginas ganar una lanita con lo que más te gusta y además hacer llegar el mensaje a más personas? Eso es lo que busco yo, a veces no será de dinero, a veces sí. Lo importante es saber que no se trata solo de probar sino de verlo en una forma más seria. Más seria me refiero hacerte de una Distro como primer sistema operativo dejar Hasefroch, dejar de utilizar aplicaciones privativas/de pago, e incluso ofrecer soporte técnico. Gnu/Linux no es juego.

Pero como dicen en la Pelicula de lo Simpson, ¿Porqué voy a pagar por algo que es gratis?, a veces es simple otras veces es complicado. Pero lo que es seguro es por una mejor experiencia del usuario. Algunos no tienen tiempo de hacer ciertas cosas, como bajarse una .iso y quemar un CD, y otras simplemente son usuarios finales que ya no quieren batallar con virus, programas que solicitan un pago para funcionar y esas cosas.

Yo [y nosostros, si alguien más se une] le ponemos las cosas más fáciles, a cambio de una recompensa. No es limosna, no es regalo, tiene calidad, lo hacemos por gusto. No digo que todo se cobra sino también hay que dar sin esperar recibir algo, por eso se empieza, pero o se cobra bien o se da de corazón, no hay más.

Google, IBM, Red Hat y muchas más PyMes no se equivocan, se dice que este año Linux gano mucho money, y el proximo año duplicará sus ganancias a pesar de la crisis Internacional, y por decir Linux me refiero a todas las empresas que ganan dinero usando Software Libre. Miren este articulo sobre Red Hat: Red Hat aprovecha y crece de la Crisis Mundial.

Si ellos pueden a nivel Internacional, nosotros podemos a nivel Local. Y existen tantas referencias: 98% en el Top 500 Super-Computadoras del mundo con Gnu/Linux, Más del 70% en la cuota mundial de servidores, y bueno, todos los beneficios, 0 virus, 0 pago de licencia, 0 spyware, seguridad, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc; y me canso voy a no debo olvidar se subir un post de beneficios.

Eso nos toca a nosotros, entregar el mensaje. Me gustan las iniciativas, unos se burlan otros las aprovechan aquí les voy a mostrar ambas, no faltan los troll tampoco faltan las inteligentes. Espero lo intenten, verán que la recompensa es enorme.

Juste un petit mot pour savoir comment configurer son scanner sous Linux

La méthode donnée ici concerne les scanner hp compatibles. Pour une liste complète, voir ici.

Il faut commencer par installer les pilotes du scanner (ou de l’imprimante/scanner ) avec cette commande :

sudo pacman -S hplip

On peut alors s’ajouter dans les groupes d’utilisateurs authorisés à scanner (ou “login” est à remplacer par son login ):

sudo gpasswd -a login scanner

Ensuite, après avoir allumé le scanner, il faut taper la commande

sudo hp-setup -i

Il suffit de répondre aux questions (la plupart du temps, les choix par défaut suffisent). On peut alors installer xsane qui permet de gérer le scanner en mode graphique :

sudo pacman -S xsane

Il reste une dernière manip’ avant de pouvoir utiliser le scanner, c’est cette commande (à exécuter en root)

echo “hpaio” >> /etc/sane.d/dll.conf

Maintenant, après avoir allumé le scanner, il suffit de lancer xsane qui demandera quel scanner utiliser. Pour un mode d’emploi de xsane, on peut se rendre ici.

Swistle is talking about getting another kitty. I got the first cat when I was living in my apartment. I was lonely and wanted a friend to hang out with me. I went to the Humane Society and saw a big grey and white kitty and wanted to take her home. My friend that came with me told me that I really should go home and think it over, and if I reeeeally wanted that kitty, I could come back the next day to get her.

I came back the next day, opened the door to the cat room and saw that in her cage was….a different cat. My grey and white kitty had been adopted. I was so sad and so mad at my friend for making me wait. Then, something touched my arm. Reaching out between the bars of her little cage was a little kitten, and she was touching my arm as if to say, “I’m right here, mom.” I fell in love with her little tortie face.

Her name was Skitters, which I didn’t like, but she certainly was skittery. She had been given up because she did not do well in a home with a small baby, probably because she was a baby herself and wanted to Run Run Run!! When I brought her home and let her out of the box she sniffed around for a while, and then spent several hours sprinting around the house.

She discovered the fireplace in the apartment, got ash in her little nose, and sneezed about 47 times. Each time I’d go “Aaawwww!”

She’d sleep on my neck/upper chest while I watched tv laying on the couch.

She took a shower with me and got HELLA PISSED about water

The next time I brought her in to the shower with me she put her front pawsies on my leg as if wanting to be held, and when I picked her up she jumped over the shower door. Crafty little thing.

She has always preferred me. I named her Cody Mew.

Because she prefers me so very much, when Hubs came into the picture and we got our first apartment, he wanted to get a cat that would like him. Truly what he wanted was a cat he could make love him more than me.

We went back to the humane society, and there was such an influx of kitties that time of year they had a big cage full of them beyond the kitty room. We went in to the treasure trove of kitty love and started petting around. There were cats everywhere, and so many to love. My only stipulation was that we get a girl cat because I didn’t want any spraying.

One particular kitty walked in between my legs as I was petting another, and rubbed up against my legs. What a cute little tabby!! He was the one for me, a boy kitty, named Spice. Unfortunately his foster mommy wanted him and his brother, Cinnamon, to be adopted together. Cinnamon was an asshole. We got the email address of the foster mom and send her pictures of Codes and assured her our home was awesome but could we just get Spice? She met us, talked to us, told us that these two siblings weren’t that close and that they’d probably be better apart. A couple days before Thanksgiving we got Spice, who we named Jackson Spice.

Jackson just loves everyone. Cody showed her dominance immediately and he submitted immediately by laying down and putting his hands up in surrender. We had to go on vacation for a few days after we got him, and when we got home, they were friends

He loves his mom.

But he loves his dad SO MUCH MORE!!

And Tux? We know that story already.

If it were not illegal in our city to have more cats, I’m sure we would have a rescue ranch in the back yard by now.

Referindu-mă la ultimul post și la existența Partidului Piraților, nu pot decât spune că deja era de așteptat o astfel de mișcare din partea nordicilor, inovatori din fire. Citind despre acest partid, mi-am amintit de sistemul de operare Linux. Într-o vreme când Microsoft Windows era de neîncredere, iar sistemele Unix erau prea scumpe, Linus Torvalds a creat un sistem de operare de tip Unix si… l-a distribuit gratis.

Inițial am putea zice că a făcut un lucru bun, dar prin inițiativa sa, la prima vedere altruistă, a distrus piața. Desigur, nu îl putem acuza de concurență neloială deoarece nu a scăzut prețul pieței, furând clienții altora, ci l-a eliminat cu totul. Totuși, din punct de vedere economic, creația sa a adus cu sine numeroare probleme.

Personal, sunt de părere că open source-ul este o idee superbă, dar una foarte dificil de pus în practică într-o eră capitalistă. Așadar, este oare posibil ca Internetul să devină o sursă liberă de informații, eliminând drepturile de autor cu totul din conținutul său? Poate Internetul să devină pentru realitate ceea ce a fost Linux printre sisteme de operare?

Sooo Halloween is this Saturday, as I am sure you are aware of dear readers. And I don’t know about you, but every year I go on the internet and see all those fantastically geektastic pumpkins that everyone has carved and I think to myself… hey, why cant I do that? Well often times it’s because I don’t want to draw up my own pattern. Though I am informed that many people also just don’t like to draw. WELL little blogglets, I have gone through all the trouble of researching some fabulous templates, ranging from easy to medium in vegetable artistry difficulty in hopes that it will aid you in creating that perfect nerdy pumpkin you want all of your neighbors to see so they can either A) judge you from afar or B) think you are super sophisticated because they have no idea what your pumpkin is. So here are some awesome pumpkin carving ideas for you to print out and enjoy! (Disclaimer: yes I stole these from the internet)

Well here of course is the traditional Batman symbol. This is fun for kids and adults alike. Its recognizable, its geeky and its EASY. The beauty of this one too is that it is the original bat symbol, so while other people look lame by just doing the fancy Dark Knight symbol or a creepy Heath Ledger Joker, your pumpkin will stay stylish, simple and classic.

So, for all the math geeks out there, this is both clever and nerdy. Again, very simple and easy to cut, but haha! Its pumpkin pi! Get it? Impress people with your incredible wit! You are clearly the most clever person on your block, to put such a witty pun into your holiday festivities.

Everyone loves video games! Here are two video game based templates to show your support for both Gears of War, or if you are feeling slightly more ambitious and less violent, the ever popular Rock Band! Gears of War is a pretty easy design, where as Rock Band is a little more ambitious, ranking out at a solid medium level of difficulty. So rise up gamers! Show your fandom AFK!

Now what kind of magnificent ass hat would I be if I didn’t include some Star Wars stencils? These are great for the whole “Dark Side of the Porch” theme. Both Bobba Fett and Dark Vader will look incredibly creepy and badass, scaring adult and small child alike. And we all know scaring children is what Halloween is all about. Right? RIGHT?! But yeah, both of these you just cut out the grey parts and you’ll have something pretty awesome. The Fett man is pretty easy and Sir Vader is an easy to medium cut. Have fun!

Now, while I am not personally a Linux person, I know the people who are will defend this little Tux Penguin TO THE DEATH. So if you are one of the folks who runs this incredibly strange system (no offence intended, it just confounds me), show off your techie pride!

Looking for something a little more pop culture oriented? Show your happiness for the return of Futurama with this fantastic Bender the Robot stencil. Got kids in your neighborhood? Don’t include the writing. Don’t give a shit about kids in your neighborhood? Go for it! The orange area indicates that this area can be “shaded”. If you don’t know how to do that though, its totally fine to just not cut out that area of the pumpkin. Either way this is a great fun easy design for fanfolk!

Speaking of pop culture, lets stray away from the Team Edward/Team Jacob pumpkins this year. They will probably get smashed by anyone who isn’t 16 years old and a girl. Instead, how about trying this True Blood template to spice up your vampiric night life. Super simple but very iconic, this image is a great way to add a little sex to your doorstep, I mean, if thats what you’re into .

This is a super sweet throw back to the original series of Star Trek. Just cut where the white area is, and you’ll have young Lenord Nemoy looking out on all your neighborhood, judging human emotions in silence, but with dignity. With the new Star Trek movie, you’re bound to get a ton of Federation clad trick or treaters, so this design will be a great hit with almost everyone who sees it! It looks harder than it is, but this design is totally easy to medium on the difficulty level scale.

British fear is the best kind of fear. This Doctor Who template is a GREAT way to show off incredible fandom and it also makes for a pretty terrifying looking pumpkin. Even if people don’t know what it is, this Ood will send shivers down the spine of any geek or non geek that visits your door. Probably the hardest design of the group, ranking out at a solid medium in difficulty, this still is totally doable by the artistically challenged and would be a super cool, super unique addition to your doorstep.

Last but not least ladies, I give you my personal favorite. Meet the Ash pumpkin. Encapsulating all of the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness glory that is Bruce Campbell, this design is incredibly fun and fantastic for the geek who just doesn’t have enough chainsaw hand in their life. This thing looks FANTASTIC when finished, and ranks at a medium carving level (the chainsaw and the scraggly pant leg is why it gets that rating), but out of the mouth of the great man himself, this pumpkin design is one word. Groovy.
