Aku terserempak dengannya, ketika majlis pembukaan resmi Pertemuan Penyair Nusantara Ke-3 Kuala Lumpur 2009, di Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Bila terpandang wajahnya, aku merasa seolah-olah amat mengenalinya. Aku pasti mengenalinya, tapi langsung tak ingat di mana kami pernah berjumpa.

Aku memang sering menghadiri seminar dan baca puisi kemana-mana. Dan kemanapun aku pergi, aku memang sering membina silatulrahmi, tak peduli dengan siapa saja. Yang penting bagiku adalah menjalin jambatan persahabatan. Tapi gadis ini… Aku mengenalinya. Tapi, di mana ya…?

Malam itu terus berlalu tanpa mencuba mencari jawapan teka-teki itu…

.

Dan keesokan harinya, sewaktu acara Baca Puisi di Menara Kuala Lumpur, sekali lagi aku terpandang gadis itu. Dia bersama seorang lagi menjadi pengacara. Masih aku tertanya-tanya, di mana gadis ini pernah kujumpa…

.

Kebetulan hari itu aku membawa kamera lengkap dengan zoon lens 300mm. Dari jauh aku berhasil mengabadikan sebuah keindahan ciptaan Tuhan melalui lensa kameraku. Dan aku sungguh-sungguh gembira dengan ‘hasil’ yang tercipta.

Teka-teki yang bermain di kepalaku, hari itu kubunuh dengan pergi kepada gadis itu, dan mengenalkan diriku. Aku juga bilang bahawa aku seprti mengenalinya, tapi tak pasti di mana kami pernah berjumpa. Dia menjawab ringkas, dia pembaca berita di RTM 1. Masya Allah… Dia rupanya…

Biz Stone, co-fundador do Twitter esteve no Brasil pela primeira vez nesta quarta-feira (21) para uma palestra promovida pela TV1. O público do evento era deveras heterogêneo, e por essa razão a palestra teve um foco mais genérico, sem muito aprofundamento. Apesar de toda a conversa ter seguido uma linha mais superficial e histórica, o fato de ter Biz falando à frente tornou o contexto especial e muito interessante. Bom humor é a marca dele. Ele parece levar isso como linha de direção de sua vida pessoal e profissional, e na própria palestra disse que a invenção do Twitter estava bem ligada à isso. Stone contou que ao apresentar a ideia da ferramenta pensou o quanto aquilo era inútil e por pouco não desistiu, mas logo recebeu como resposta: “sorvete também é inútil, mas nem por isso vão parar de fabricar”. E com essa ele tomou ânimo para dar continuidade ao que conhecemos hoje. Nem a equipe que criou o Twitter fazia noção do potencial que ele oferecia. Biz disse que uma das situações que o fez perceber o poder que o Twitter tinha foi quando viu um bar que estava vazio ficar lotado em 10 minutos após uma simples twittada. Era o poder da pulverização! “O mundo não sabia que precisava disso”, afirmou o co-fundador que seguiu citando casos em que o Twitter foi diferencial como na situação onde o estudante de fotojornalismo foi preso no Egito e conseguiu ser libertado graças ao microblog, quando a ferramenta foi importante também no trabalho envolvendo tragédias como um incêndio na Califórnia e terremotos. Ao observar tudo o que aconteceu com uso do Twitter, Biz diz que o “Twitter não é tecnologia, é humanidade”. Afinal, essa é uma ferramenta que auxilia pessoas, sociedades, etc. Durante a fala de Stone fica claro que o objetivo base do empreendimento não é diretamente lucrar milhões de dólares, mas faze a diferença no mundo em um contexto humano, social. Ele diz que “quer fazer um mundo melhor”, e já podemos perceber que o Twitter cumpre seu papel nesse sentido. Por já ser um canal de comunicação quase “obrigatório” dentre as empresas que querem trabalhar com mídias sociais, uma versão especial para instituições também já está sendo pensada, reafirmou Biz na palestra. As empresas que usam o microblog para se relacionar com clientes querem feedbacks, saber sobre a recepção dos links, da forma que seus seguidores recebem as atualizações, etc, portanto a equipe já trabalha em uma solução e espera até o início de 2010 ter isso pronto. Embora todos os recursos específicos para empresa exijam um trabalho maior, Biz Stone garantiu que o Twitter continuará sendo um serviço gratuito.

- Biz e Evan Williams pensam mais em ideias, e não necessariamente em dinheiro

- Biz acha o Brasil sexy (lol) [resposta dada após Sergio Motta perguntar a visão que Stone tinha do Brasil como um target para o microblog]

- Desde o início, o foco do Twitter é a mobilidade

O twitter já é conhecido para mais de 50 milhões de pessoas pelo mundo, mas é novidade pra muita gente e não passa de mero “site de conversas” para outros. O fato é que muitas empresas já estão totalmente integradas a essa nova ferramenta. São desde ações de marketing até processo seletivo de funcionários. A oportunidade de atingir milhões de pessoas instantaneamente acertou em cheio quem leva a sério as redes socias. Hoje  20% dos tweets já se referem às marcas. Nesse novo cenário, principalmente quem deseja trabalhar com comunicação, não pode ficar de fora de uma ferramenta tão poderosa.
O fundador do Twitter está no Brasil e aqui vão alguns passos dele por aqui.
Em entrevista para a Veja, Biz Stone diz que o modelo inicial foi o das mensagens de celular e que a explicação para que hoje cerca de 50 milhões de pessoas estejam cadastradas seja justamente a possibilidade de trocar informações entre a própria comunidade. Desde assuntos em comum até informações do próprio bairro atualizadas em tempo real.
Outra diferença apontada por um dos criadores do Twiter em relação as demais redes socias é a possibilidade de ter informações de alguém sem a necessidade de que ela faça parte da sua rede de contatos. É possível acompanhar qualquer perfil e por outro lado ter milhões de seguidores sem seguir ninguém.
Por fim fala da liberdade de poder acompanhar as informações que interessam e se comunicar com as pessoas sem a obrigação de retorno, como acontece no e-mail. “Você responde se quiser, e quem publica não tem expectativa de resposta”.
Stone participa hoje no Brasil do II Encontro Agenda do Futuro, organizado pela empresa de serviços de comunicação TV1.

Felice Damiano.. een typetje dat ergens eind  jaren ‘80 de nationale zender onveilig maakte met de show Incredible.. Het Italiaanse accent.. de soms ‘aparte’ humor en de nichterigheid zorgde ervoor dat je ofwel voor of tegen was..

Felice werd een rijzende tv-persoonlijkheid en zijn Accent nam  met de jaren af.. en zijn gewicht toe..  Als Eetdeskundige dook hij op in vele programma’s.. gaf eindejaarstip voor de Kokende Huisvrouw.. en zette zijn hoofd op vele keukentoestellen..

Dré ‘Felice’ Steemans overleed in zijn slaap aan een hartstilstand.. hij werd 55..

“Não faz muito tempo o Twitter comemorava a marca de 10 milhões de usuários. Mas, pelo visto, o serviço de microblogging está crescendo tão rápido quanto o tempo que se leva para escrever uma mensagem de 140 caracteres. O comScore acaba de divulgar que o site chegou a 32 milhões de usuários únicos em abril, ante os 10 milhões de fevereiro. Isso quer dizer que a sua base de usuários triplicou em dois meses. Hoje já são mais de 44,5 milhões de perfis cadastrados em todo o mundo.

Para se ter uma noção do que isso significa, o Twitter já ultrapassou o Digg (23 milhões), o LinkedIn (16 milhões) e o site do New York Times (17,5 milhões) em usuários únicos mensais. Vale lembrar que a medição do comScore se limita a registrar quem acessa o site tradicional. Ficam de fora aqueles que usam pelo celular, aplicativos de desktop e outros sites. Ou seja, esse número pode ser ainda maior (fonte: Época Negócios – jul/2009).

Para as empresas, os números são ainda mais significativos, uma vez que pesquisa recente revelou que atualmente 20% dos tweets já se referem às marcas em todo o mundo. De acordo com informações da Folha Online, em comparação com o mês de junho do ano passado, a rede social cresceu 1.460%.

Segundo pesquisas do Ibope Nielsen Online, cerca de 30% dos usuários do Twitter no mundo tem entre 18 e 49 anos. De acordo com o mesmo instituto de pesquisa, os brasileiros já são os usuários mais ativos do Twitter: em junho deste ano foram feitos cinco milhões de cadastros de brasileiros, o que significa uma alta de 71% em comparação com o mês anterior.

Esse número indica que aproximadamente 15% dos internautas brasileiros já usam o Twitter. Esse dado coloca o Brasil à frente (em número de usuários) dos Estados Unidos, por exemplo, com 10,69%; Reino Unido (9,38%); Austrália (5,36%) e Alemanha (4%)”, ótima postagem que li no site da TV1 e compartilho com a rede.

Hari minggu, enaknya tuh jalan-jalan. Baru mikir enaknya pergi kemana, eh sahabat tercintaku muncul dengan tiba-tiba *ga tau harus merasa senang atau merasa bete!* dan dia tiba-tiba turun dengan derasnya dan disusul dengan hilangnya signal wifi di rumah plus AC mati, yep! good!! ini berarti ga ada arus listrik. PLN tercinta, kita kan dah bayar kewajiban, kok hak-nya tidak dipenuhi?

Tapi baguslah, dengan matinya wifi dirumah, berarti saya dipaksa untuk mengerjakan tugas kuliah yang masih belum selesai, riset pemasaran –> bikin kuesioner, huft!! aaaargh!! dari 2 hari yang lalu, sama sekali ga ada ide gimana bikin pertanyaan tentang topik pindahnya customer hape merk tertentu ke blackberry akhir-akhir ini.

Yeah! secara sekarang di mana-mana kita bisa liat dari anak SD sampe Opa-opa sibuk pencat-pencet barang kotak berwarna hitam yang dilapisi sampul warna-warni dan ga’ menghiraukan keadaan sekitar.

Sebenarnya sih, ga susah-susah amat kayanya. Tapi malasnya itu loh,YAD!! Ya Ampun Deh!! enaknyabubu-bubu, telvon2an, nggosip, maem, nonton tv. Hayah!! corettt!!! bertekad dengan sungguh-sungguh akan mengerjakan tugas setelah listrik mengalir kembali.

Hari ini, beberapa hari setelah gempa Padang terjadi, setiap nonton tv *kebetulan lebih lama melototin tv1* –> yang ada cuma si Tina Talisa lagi live report dari hotel ambacang. Well, jadi kangen sama masa-masa liputan dulu, xixixiii. Jelek-jelek gini pernah jd reporter loh saya

Kemarin pas lagi main twitter sama teman-teman eks Kantor yang dulu, terungkaplah bahwa seorang kawan saya yang tadinya reporter akhirnya menjadi korlip. Prestasi yang bagus-lah untuk dia, dan saya appreciate for him, but setelah beberapa kali reTweet dengan teman-teman, muncul sebuah reply dari salah seorang teman yang kebetulan seorang cameraperson, menyatakan bahwa rekan “korlip” tersebut adalah korlip detik, pikiran saya saat itu “oh mungkin sekarang pindah ke portal berita terkemuka tersebut.

Ternyata oh Ternyata! saya baru ingat, bahwa korlip detik itu maksudnya, korlip yang dapat info segala macam dari berita di detik.com, bukan dari sumber2 terpercaya. hahahahahahhahahahaa!! *NO COMMENT*

Back to hujan, alhamdulillah sekarang dah berhenti, dan lamat-lamat terdengar adzan ashar, cukup lama juga hujan hari ini, dari ba’da dzhuhur sampe sekarang. Tapi ini listrik kok masih padam yah? kalo dipikir-pikir, kita sebagai masyarakat harusnya diberi pelayanan yang terbaik kan ya? kok akhir-akhir ini, sering baca status teman-teman di facebook kalo listrik dirumahnya mati karena pemadaman bergilir.

Saya ga’ sendirian loh! ga’ cuma di wilayah jakarta dan tetangganya, di tempat pacar saya bertugas *di bumi sulawesi juga terjadi pemadaman rutin setiap pukul 19.00 tau 20.o0 wita*, dan saya ga’ berharap pemadaman masih terjadi sampe anak cucu saya lahir. Bahasanya, cukup saya dan teman-teman saya aja di tahun 2009 yang merasakan bahwa pelayanan publik pemerintah tuh ga bagus banget!!! jangan sampe 30 tahun kedepan, cucu saya masih merasakan pemadaman setiap beberapa jam sekali. huft!! Pak SBY, ini gimana PLN??

What a game !

Neither side left anything in the tank .  The game was dominated by both sides defenders with the difference being that Sharelle McMahon and Susan Pratley improved enough thou out the game to win it for Australia . I might as well as start off with the bad news so then at least I can finish this entry on a good note .  Most worryingly Susan Fuhrmann had the better of  Irene Van dyk . Thanks to Norma Plummer Fuhrmann very much played to her strengths which are her height and reach which are both longer then Irene . For the first time Irene came against a defender whose height allowed her to directly defend the shot rather then have to make a timed jump .  On Irene current inconsistent form I dread to think how she will fare against a full strength Australian defensive line up next year .

In three quarters of Netball Paula Griffin played well enough to show the selectors and supporters that she is worth sticking with at International level . Griffin play was very static in the shooting circle which made the feeders lives more difficult . As a GA  she will need to spend more outside of the circle looking for the feed .  I know that Ruth Aitken brought on Maria Tutaia in order to inject some fresh legs into the game but the move backfired because it caused more disruption then anything to the Silver Ferns shooting attack . The wider problem is that the Silver Ferns lack a traditional GA who is in the mould of Belinda Colling or just some whose style of play focuses on work rate in the circle . Anna Thompson could fill this role but at this stage she is a bit of an unknown at international level .

Temepara George costly injury time mix up that saw the Silver Ferns with six players on court for a time for a time aside that was the best Silver Ferns mid court performance and mixture of combinations that I have all seasons so far . Sure George was in at GA to aid Griffin on her starting début against the Aussies but it worked well enough .  A  few things to round things out you know that when both Jenny May Coffin and Vicki Wilson are puzzled by umpiring decisions the way the whistle goes is a complete lottery , rather then sound umpiring decision  making . I very much enjoyed Vicki Wilson insights from the commentary box .  Should she fail to land another coaching gig for some unexplained reason I wouldn’t mind seeing her take on more of a media role .

Absolute shame on TV1 for not showing live coverage of the game . The game should have been shown on TV2 which would have allowed it to be broadcast live without interfering with pressures 6 o’clock news .

There has been much said in the media and amongst the general public about whether or not the police should provide lists of drink-drivers to be published, which Judith Collins, Police Minister, sees as “protecting potential killers”.

Some claim it is an invasion of privacy, though in a recent case looked at by the Broadcasting Standards Authority was overturned by a High Court Judge. After a clip shown on TV1’s Close Up of a woman leaving court after a drink-driving conviction, an unrelated couple complained to TVNZ and the BSA. Thought the complaint was upheld by the BSA, “Justice Jill Mallon said an individual’s rights had to be balanced against permitting the open reporting of court proceedings and the media’s right to freedom of expression. In saying TVNZ had acted unfairly, the authority had accepted the public nature of court records but failed to take account of the public nature of the courtroom in which a person could be filmed, or shown in the street leaving court, Justice Mallon said” (from stuff.co.nz).

As journalists can publish matters of public record and court procedings (unless there has been an embargo placed on information, or name suppression) then this is not breaching a person’s privacy. Information on drink driving convictions is owned by the courts, not the police.

The issue was discussed this morning on Radio NZ.

This morning it was announced that after meeting with the Police Minister, Judith Collins, the police would reverse their decision and resume providing the “name and shame” lists.

Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Michael Player says police may have been overly sensitive about privacy issues when they made the decision.

This is the epitome of blog-based closure.

Yesterday I worked on a VCA shoot, just for a single day. Again, the audio department was my ticket in. This was definitely the largest-scale production I’d worked on.. massive crew, shot on RED, vans upon vans of equipment, a professional cinematographer, millions of dolly shots, Fostex 24-bit audio recording.. yea. Lots happening.

But don’t get the wrong idea. I was not ’smitten’ by these “VCA Darlings”.. no. They had lots of shiny equipment, I had lots to learn from them technically-speaking, but ultimately their shoot was extremely disorganised, rushed and full of arguments and bad vibes.

It was a gritty, post-apocalyptic film set in an industrial wasteland, with hardly any dialogue or action. (Basically some babe is slowly dying, and her male counterpart is trying to save her by taking her to an abandoned cinema, but ultimately, the babe dies, representing the ultimate death of cinema.. or something).

So I was boom op for the day, and we shot outside shed 21, Docklands.. which is a fairly gritty, inhospitable area. A vast empty space littered with coils of barbed wire and various other sharp objects.

We arrived at 1.30pm, and it all went downhill from here. Basically, the makeup artists bailed. No one could contact them, no one knew when they’d turn up, and they never did. Our director, Dave, effectively put us under lockdown. There was to be no shooting until we had makeup artists. Bad move. We’ve only got natural light, and it’s going to fade fast. Our shadows are becoming ridiculously long and it’s only 2.30pm.
Granted, it was a large-scale shoot with heaps of people involved, but somehow it felt too diffused. The camera and dolly were being set up for an extreme wide.. 100m away the director was “blocking it out” with the actors, while 300m in the other direction people were storing their gear and setting up rest areas, food, etc. Production design had all their props in the middle of the extreme wide shot, and it took quite a long time to clear it all up.. Despite Dave’s use of several walkie talkies.

And yes. Makeup wrecked us, coupled with the fact that our director wasn’t willing to compromise. We started shooting at about 3.30, after the 1st AD went makeup shopping and the actors applied it themselves. Waiting for the makeup was futile, and meant that we were losing light at a ridiculous rate. Everyone was stressed (this was not their first day of shooting, which doesn’t help) and there was decent tension between David and his DoP.

In the midst of this chaos, no one was concerned about audio. I met up with the audio mixer, Ed (another 3rd year VCE Director), earlier in the day and thankfully we got on well. We wandered the industrial wastes, looking for tasks that could be done, gently asking the camera team whether they wanted audio for this take or not. For the most part we’re dismissed, or grudgingly accommodated — “hmm… yea, I guess you can get sound for this shot.. mm yea knock yourselves out guys”.

I’ve mentioned it before: working in sound is not good for your ego. No one cares about sound until they’re in post. Camera people can make it feel like they’re doing you a favour by saying “Yes, we’ll have audio for this take”. And it’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s not a favour, it’s a necessary evil. We (the sound crew) are not sound-maniacs insisting that every shot have sound.. god no. We’re just asking whether or not we’re needed. Simple as that. People seem to find it a big ask.. all you have to do is plug the freaking cable in. /kill everyone.

Yea. It often feels like you’re standing in the way, and that people would prefer it if you switched off the audio gear and went home. I’ve read this in a book somewhere: the hardest part of audio mixing is fighting for good sound. You’ve got to tell everyone to wait until the helicopter passes.. tell various people to shut up.. stop everything to get an “edge of frame” for the boom swinger, hunt down tired actors to get cleaner versions of their lines.. etc. People are going to think you’re being a padantic bastard. But it’s important, and they’ll thank you in post.

Anyway, back to specifics. We were wandering the wasteland aimlessly until the sun started to fall and it was crunch time. I set up my monster-boom mic (seriously, the microphone was as long as my fully extended arm, triple the girth, and furry like the cookie monster) and started chasing actors with it. It was a noisy environment, and I needed to get extremely close. There were lots of dolly shots where I needed to track backwards at a pace that matched the camera frame, while also watching the actors’ movements and trying not to make a sound while walking through the rubble. As far as boom operation goes, it was fairly involved. Time went quickly, and hopefully some of the audio was actually usable. (Sounds like Dave isn’t really one for diegetic sound.. lots of work in post).

In any case, that’s the VCA shoot demystified. Lots of gear, lots of crew, but it’s just a shoot where makeup artists abandon you and directors can’t compromise and you lose 90 minutes of precious light as a result. I’m hoping the next VCA film I work on will be more organised.. or at least more sound-friendly.
