Titanic -släng dig i väggen! För här kommer…

Redan i inledningen föll jag för denna robot. Det gick rakt in i hjärtat när man såg hur han åkte runt och samlade skräp, alldeles ensam i den stora vida världen med skyskrapa efter skyskrapa av sopor. Men han var glad, glad över sitt arbete och de souvenirer han hittade. Han var så mänsklig och dundercharmig. Livet var underbart – tills han mötte Eva. En high-tech robot från ett främmande skepp. Och Walle blev förälskad.

Man blir ju lite “kär och galen” och det gäller även robotar… 

Filmen tar upp aktuella ämnen såsom klimatförändringar,framtiden och mänsligheten. Under hela filmen satt jag med höger handen över bröstet. Det kändes som jag har fått lokalbedövning just där. Man blev alldeles varm inombords. Det är omöjligt att inte falla för denna figur!

Jag kan inte beskriva filmen på annat sätt än såhär…  OHMYGOD!

Så.. ni som inte har sett WALL-E… gå och se den NU! Annars vet ni vad ni kan köpa som julklapp.

Tomorrow marks the first of a new month…and one of the most highly anticipated events of the year: The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love VS.  I’m a recovering VS addict–99% of my underwear drawer is VS, 50% of my pajamas are VS, and I even have some clothing and decorative items from VS, as well as cosmetics.  I used to not be able to walk by the store and not go inside, and once inside I couldn’t not make a purchase; when there was down time at work, I shopped VS online. And what’s a purchase at VS without the exclusive VS Angel card and it’s rewards points?–Yeah I was totally off the deep end…

Well I eventually paid off the VS Angel card, closed the account and cut up the card.  I can proudly say that now I’m able to walk past the store and keep my composure and not even be tempted to go inside (ok–maybe a little).  If I do go inside, I’m able to simply admire and exit the store empty handed–ah self-control and discipline feel so good!

Anyway, even though I’m over my addiction, I still love VS and look forward to this fashion show every year, so I’m extremely excited about tomorrow.

Who’s going to get the boot tonight?

I enjoyed watching the live show last night, instead of being social and gone out. I thought the contestants have definitely gone up a notch, afer Jedwards departure last week (which I have to add I could not have been more pleased about. Don’t get be wrong, I’m sure they are great guys, but singers they are not). So lat nights contestnats:

Danyl – He was great as usual, and his second performance was definitely better. His first seemed weak in comparison afterwards.

Lloyd – A good performer, and I fall in love with him a little more each weak, so it’s hard for me to admit my next point: it’s clear he’s the weakest singer left now, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s booted.

Olly – Fantastic again, and after the shock of him being in the bottom two last weak, I’m fairly sure he’ll survive this one, especially after his amazing performances last night.

Joe – My favourite competitor, he’s defnitely getting through. I’ll eat my hat otherwise! Once again he delivered great performances.

Stacey – As good as singer she is, I just can’t warm to her. She just has the air of a bimbo whenever she speaks with the ridiculous giggles thrown in every other word. But seeing as it is a singing contest, she’ll be going through to the semi’s as well – I have to admit she can sing well.

So, to round up this post, I think it’s likely that Lloyd will get the boot, with a small chance of Danyl going too. I think Joe and Stacey will definitely go through, and Olly probably will. That’s my “two cents” so to speak.

“The city has already lost enough of what keeps us unique,” she added.

Designer and CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg turned up to lend her considerable support, as did Michael Kors, Victoria Bartlett, Maria Cornejo, Rag &amp; Bone’s Marcus Wa

Documentary Preview

 A fashion film produced in collaboration with Ruth Hogben. It was a prequel of his Paris runway show which took inspiration from the four elements, earth, wind, fire and water.

Is this format a new way to present such conceptual creations? The collection really lends itself to this format… it sets the atmosphere and the aesthetic is celebrated through the moving image. Real time fashion shows present a certain ambience but can digital media enhance the conceptualization and perfomability of a collection? 

I think it’s an interesting add-on and can’t wait to see other designers adopting such a process.

After watching the first two movies in the Twilight saga (movies that I enjoyed despite Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s acting abilities), I’ve come to a stirring conclusion. If someone asked my for a one sentence summary, this is what I would say:

Twilight: In which a vampire falls head-over-heels in love with a girl named Bella Swan, and vice-versa.

Riveting, I know. But you know what, that’s not quite right. (And before we get into that I’m going to stop right here and address the author.

Stephanie Meyer, I have to give you credit where credit is due. You George Lucas’d 16-year-old girls everywhere. This is their Star Wars, and I commend you for that. HOWEVER, your writing is that of a 16-year-old girl. I know, I know, I’m being unfair, “She was writing them for said 16 year olds!”

Well tough titties Steph. J.K. Rowling was writing for kids half that age when she pumped out Harry Potter, and her writing puts you to shame. I don’t know what passes for prose in the Mormon world, but here in America that shit don’t fly.)

Back to the point. After thinking about the summary of Twilight, i noticed there were a few words missing in that sentence, words that drastically change the entire saga for me.

Twilight: In which a 109-year-old vampire trapped in adolescent’s body falls head-over-heels in love with a 17-year-old girl named Bella Swan, and vice-versa.

Think about it. Let’s say you’ll always look 17, does that really mean that’s the dating pool you’re going to fish in for eternity? You’ve already lived over 100 years, how much are you going to be able to relate to her? You saw Kitty Hawk (maybe, someone check my math) and the moon landing. You were around for WWI, WWII, ‘nam, Zubaz and Snuggies. This bitch was born in 1991, she doesn’t even remember Nirvana. You were around before Kurt Cobain was but a twinkle in his father’s eye.

You’re 17 years old on the outside, not the inside buddy. I’m pretty sure Webster doesn’t bang grade schoolers.

Besides the fact that it sounds incredibly creepy, what are the benefits for Ed Cullen by going down this route? Ignoring the mere fact that some high school girls can be as prude as a straight nun (whereas Ed’s been sexually virile for, oh, 93-94 years), the hormonal balance in most teenaged girls (and guys to a lesser extent) makes Mike Tyson look like Ben Stein.

Edward, buddy, I’m sure you can pass as old enough for college girls, I swear. And even though it’s only a year or two in age difference, it’s a massive step up when it comes to sanity. Remember when you were a senior in high school? Remember how stupid and emotional you were? That’s what you’re trying to hitch your wagon to?

It doesn’t make sense, and quite frankly, Chris Hansen is going to have a field day with this one.

Last  night I watched the first of many movies involving a body swap.  The movie, “A Saintly Switch”, was a good choice to start off my research.  It’s a comedic story so it wasn’t too heavy.  I haven’t seen too many body swap movies with the exception of the few that I mentioned in an earlier post, however “A Saintly Switch” involved a body swap that lasted longer than I would assume most would last.  The husband and wife in the movie stayed in each other’s bodies for 7 months.  Usually (from what I’ve seen) body swaps last no longer than a week, but I guess as I continue my research I’ll see different variations.

Äntligen tisdag! Tisdag är verkligen min favoritdag i veckan (förutom helgen då), dels för att man har kommit över “början-av-veckan-tröttheten” som kan drabba en men först och främst för att BÅDE Ugly Betty och Desperate Housewives går på tv:) Kan det bli bättre?

So I just added a new tab–Movie Reviews.  The first two movies I’ll be critiquing are “New Moon” and “Fireproof”.  “Fireproof”  is a 2008 movie that I just recently viewed, and of course we all know that “New Moon” is the most recently released movie in the Twilight saga.  As I’m still formulating my thoughts on the two movies, check back later (under the Movie Reviews tab) to see what I have to say about them.

Additionally, I’m going to be doing a series of reviews on a particular media subject matter: Body Swapping.  Believe it or not, there are a lot of movies, books, TV episodes, and even video games that have used Body Swapping as a theme (some you’re probably familiar with: Freaky Friday, Face/Off, and Seventeen Again–the Disney version with the Mowry twins)–all with different variations of course.  I’ll be viewing and comparing all of the movies (or as many as I can find) that utilize body swapping, so keep an eye out for that one.

On Friday November 13, Warner Home Video staged their own Flash Mob, this time with a Southern Twist. Time was suspended as 70 couples in period costumes celebrated the 70th Anniversary of America’s #1 Movie of All Time by dancing “The World’s Largest Virginia Reel” in the historic Marietta Georgia Town Square.

In addition, four original cast members attended: Ann Rutherford (“Carreen O’Hara”), Mickey Kuhn (“Beau Wilkes” at age 7), Patrick Curtis (“Baby Beau Wilkes”) and Greg Geise (infant “Bonnie Blue Butler” & infant “Beau Wilkes”), along with Gina Miller who was an extra. Bill Dunaway, the Mayor of Marietta (the town celebrates its 175th anniversary) hosted the event with special guest Robert Osborne, Turner Classic Movies’ primetime host.

The event was topped off with the unveiling of a giant anniversary cake which was a replica of Tara for everyone to share.

The event heralded Warner Home Video’s highly anticipated November 17 Blu-ray/DVD release of Gone with the Wind 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition and Turner Classic Movies’ December 15 screening of the film on the actual anniversary of the film’s original premiere in Atlanta.

Har ni upptäckt Svt Play? Inte? Då måste ni gå in dit -nu med en gång! Det är det bästa svt har gjort. Nu slipper jag missa mina favoritprogram och även hitta nya favoriter. Dem visar nästan alla deras program och tv-serier som har gått på tv. De amerikanska varianterna finns på hemsidan en vecka och dem svenska är lite längre.

Med Play har jag hittat Nurse Jackie. Det handlar om Jackie som jobbar på ett akutmottagning. Hon visar lite civil curage och ger svar på tal. Ohh, “Dr Carlisle Cullen” är med.

Nu följer jag Skavlan tack vare Play. Den mannen har riktigt intressanta personer och ämnen varje avsnitt.

Igår hittade ett nytt svensk tv-serie, Guds tre flickor. Handlar om tre tjejkompisar och gud som ska hjälpa dem med livet och allt annat vad det innebär. En liten mysig serie om barn för barn. Sen är det ganska kul att se Susanne Reuter som gud!

I am off to Belfast, Ireland this week to the International Symposium of Electronic Art 09 where I will be presenting my first academic paper! The ISEA is a non profit organisation promoting interdisciplinary action through academic discourse and promoting a dialogue through the disciplines of art, design, science and emerging technologies.

I will be presenting in the third Interactive Textiles category which explores collaboration, cross-disciplinarity and consumption. My paper reviews participatory design methods for fashion support by digital media and sustainability will be a central theme throughout my presentation.

I’m really excited to be attending this event as they have some really amazing key note speakers lined up. Clive van Heerden , the Senior Director of Design-Led Innovation at Philips and responsible for leading the Philips Design Probes program will be presenting on Wednesday and Thursday will host Moritz Waldemeyer, the engineer behind Hussein Chalayan’s futuristic fashion creations.

The are a series of Fashion and Textiles sessions exploring time and form, materiality and wearability and lastly, adoption and collaboration, cross disciplinarity and consumption.And that’s just a summary of the Textile categories, there are many more presentations and workshops within other disciplines.

I cant wait to experience this action packed week! Running parallel to this digital exploration I am going to try out another digital experience – twitter! I will try my hand at some micro blogging photos and comments live from ISEA09 for the duration of the week… Bye, bye and tweet to you later!

i am obsessed with the twilight saga (books and films) so today i was so excited to see new moon and i loved it.. thought it was so great, but tbh even if it wasn’t i really wouldn’t know as i am so obsessed with it!

★ We Totally missed the boat on B.o.B, so we tried to make up for it. Once, twice, three times a lady.

★ Rhyme v. Reason got its second case, and had to make a ruling in regards to who the best white rapper in the world is.

★ 50 Cent and Pitchfork dropped by, hilarity ensued.

★ Jim Halpert of The Office was outed for being a big ol’ dick in a new section, TV&Film.

It’s Thursday, and for most people in my age demographic, that means it’s time for you to snuggle up to NBC’s comedy lineup of Community, Parks and Recreation, The Office and 30 Rock. Now I could talk about all of these shows (mostly positively too), but today you get just one: The Office.

Specifically, I want you to know — while you watch Dwight and Andy and Michael and Pam and Jim and Ryan and Phallus and Kevin and the rest — that Jim Halpert’s a real dick.

He is the Boston Red Sox fans of The Office: He makes everything worse for everyone else. What’s worse, his dickitude increases with every passing episode.

Most of you, especially the ladies, are feeling rage swell in your belly like a food-baby right now. You’re angry with me, you’re enraged: How could I say such a thing about Jim Halpert, a man who is so loved, there are roughly 34,607 facebook groups named “Jim Halpert is my future husband” or “Zomg I want Jim Halpert’s baby!”?

I mean honestly, HE CUT HIS TIE FOR PAM ON THEIR WEDDING DAY! HOW ROMANTIC! I WAS SOBBING IN BETWEEN MY SPOONFULS OF PEANUT BUTTER, FANTASIZING IT WAS ME WITH THE TORN VEIL!

Take it easy spaz, I’ve got the proof.

★ He’s got that stupid fucking grin. You smug son of a bitch. You aren’t being cute. Fucking annoying is what you’re being.

I know what’s really behind that goddamn expression you wear like clown paint. You think you’re better than the people around you. You think your smirk says, “I’m so much fucking smarter than these douches.” but it really screams, “I’m a passive aggressive dickface.”

★ His parents never saw him actually get married. Do you have any idea what childbirth feels like? Do you think Mama Halpert might have wanted to see her son go through one of the most important moments of his life? And instead you got married in ponchos under Niagra Falls?

Plus, The Falls are so fucking loud neither you or Pam heard shit, much less your wedding vows. You could have gotten married, or the priest could have recited the menu from The Great Wall of China Buffet — you’ll never know (“Number four, Crab Rangoon.” …  “I do!”). It’s like sticking your head inside of a jet engine by The Falls. And that’s where you wanted to show the woman of your dreams how much you loved her.

Also, really? Niagra Falls? You proposed at a gas station and got married in Niagra Falls? Was the dress code for the reception jorts-optional or jorts-mandatory?

★ He hates on Battlestar Galactica, though you know he’s never seen it. Classic dick-move right here. We’ve all been witness to this number, we know how it plays out.

Person: I like (insert name of movie or TV show/Osmond sibling/ice cream flavor).

Dick: You like what?? That shit is so lame, brah.

Person: Have you ever seen it/Wayne Osmond/eaten that flavor of ice cream?

Dick: No, because I knew that shit was going to be so lame, brah.

If you’re just going to trash talk Battlestar Galactica, even though I know you’ve never seen it, then you’re an asshole. Besides the fact that Battlestar Galactica is a fantastic piece of programming, hating on anything you have never actually seen or experienced is the definition of Dick behavior. It’s Dick Behavior 101: An introduction in Dickish tendencies.

★ He’s a dick to everyone at work but Pam. He let Michael fall into a Koi pond because he was bitter Michael was tagging along. He wouldn’t fist bump Toby. He wouldn’t call Andy “Drew”. He’d rather watch the Phillies game than take his girlfriend Karen out on a date. Just because you hate your life doesn’t mean you get to take it out on everyone else, buster. And Dwight? Poor, poor Dwight, you’ve been victim to Jim’s bullying since I can remember.

Also, let’s remind our viewers that he stole the ‘Nard Dog’s phone, threw it in the ceiling and taunted his victim by calling it incessantly. Because why? Because he didn’t like his ring tone.

Who cares if the ‘Nard Dog spent hours making it (one of his favorite hobbies is singing) AND Jim knew Andy doesn’t liked to be picked on (remember his reaction to the Jell-O prank?). Jim’s going to fuck with you anyway. Andy ended up in anger management, but does Jim feel bad about it? No. Because Jim’s a huge dick.

★ He never dresses up for Halloween. He’s that guy. Everyone at the party is dressed in costume, and he’s wearing the shit he normally wears. What’s that, Jim? You wrote “book” on your face, so you’re costume is facebook? And a couple years ago you put black discs of paper on your shirt in order to make you “three-hole-punch Jim”? Those are lazy fucking costumes, the type that would get you booed by your friends.

You dressed up to work like Dwight in order to make fun him, and you still didn’t dress up for Halloween.

And you know why he doesn’t dress up, too. He thinks he’s too good to dress up. It’s the only reason. Look at Kevin: He wore an Incredibles costume to work. Kevin’s probably retarded, and Jim can’t muster up the ability to get some proper attire? Dick.

★ He’s A PAPER SALESMAN IN SCRANTON, PA. Yeah ladies, did you remember that one? If you’re spending your life as a paper salesman in Scranton, chances are your life took a wrong turn somewhere.

Now it could be that he genuinely loves selling paper (except for all those times he talks about hating his job), but I like to think there are three other possible reasons for why Jim Halpert is stuck in a dead-end job in a city that rivals Gary, Ind., for the title of “America’s anus”.

A. He’s an idiot.

B. He’s lazy as shit.

C. A little of column A, a little of column B.

And for everyone of you thinking to yourself: “He stayed there for Pam.” — stop. Stop it right now. No man would work for years in a shit-hole like that on the hopes of one day marrying a woman who is already engaged. I don’t care if she’s Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and other Greek stuff, it’s not happening. If you hate your job and you have the option to leave, you’re ghosting faster than Swayze.

He stayed because he couldn’t get a another job, which I assume is because he dropped out of community college.

Let’s take a time out right here. Some of you out there are probably still in complete disagreement with me. You’re thinking, “R&R, you’re fucking nitpicking. Listen, I don’t know what happened in your life that made you so bitter towards Jim and Pam — did you perhaps fall in love with an engaged woman? Were you sexually assaulted by a clown in Scranton? — but all of this is weak evidence and hearsay at best.”

We’ll you know what? Maybe you’re right. Maybe all of that you just read was bullshit. But I guaran-damn-tee you that the next two reasons prove this article’s headline true regardless if you disagreed with everything you just read.

Get ready to be blown away.

★ He ditched his girlfriend in New York to go ask out another woman. A girlfriend who, you know, was DEPENDING ON THE GUY FOR A RIDE BACK TO SCRANTON. You just fucking left her? In NYC? Without telling her, and no alternate form of transportation? DO I EVEN HAVE TO EXPLAIN THE DICKISHNESS OF THIS MANUEVER?

Imagine re-telling that story to a friend:

Person: “So what did you do?”

Dick: “I went back to Scranton.”

Person: “What about Karen?”

Dick: “I left her there.”

Person: “Are you … are you serious?”

Dick: “Yeah man, I just got in the car and left. Wanna Jagerbomb?”

It’s indefensible, which means you cannot defense it. Even if I hated the person I was with, truly genuinely hated everything about them, I STILL wouldn’t leave them stranded a state away from their home.

★ He hit on an engaged woman. It’s one thing to fool around with someone who has a boyfriend or a girlfriend — that’ll happen. Nobody is proud of it, but there are few people who can cast the first stone when it comes to not meddling with some other person’s fidelity (or their own for that matter). But once that ring goes on the finger?

Game over.

You can’t mess with married menfolk and womenfolk, and a fiance is basically an extension of that. If you are fucking around with married/engaged people, you are making a statement about your own moral compass. They don’t call that cheating, they call that an affair. You wanna be part of an affair? Hell no.

That’s like when your parents used to say, “We’re not mad, we’re just disappointed.” It’s a whole new level of shit. Isn’t it? Am I wrong here? Did Jim Halpert not kiss an engaged woman? Twice? Did I miss the part where that was kosher? Imagine if Toby made a move on Pam right now. There would be a mob of pitchfork and peanut butter spoon wielding women storming the streets.

Hitting on married/engaged women — regardless of how long they’ve been engaged — is a dick move. That’s why, to borrow a line from Twilight:

About three things I was absolutely positive. First, blah-blah-blah teenage vampire stuff, second blah-blah werewolves etc. …

And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably sure that Jim Halpert’s a real dick.

Forget the ball game, the peanuts and the cracker jack (ok well maybe cracker jack is ok)…I’m ready for some pizza, popcorn, nachos, Dr. Pepper, a mixed Icee and these:

1. New Moon (I’m a sucker for atypical love stories)

2. Precious (Interested to see MoNique in a different role–love it when actors break their typecasts)

3. Avatar (I feel like this movie is going to be a visual-gasm for me)

4. The Box (this one has been out for a while already but I wanted to see it b/c it seemed pretty suspenseful and I like Cameron Diaz…although I’m used to seeing her silly side)

5. Planet 51 (gotta feed my inner kid)

Couples Retreat: I went to see this movie with the bestie, her little sis, and her dad–which is always a fun combo.  Her dad is hilarious and totally uncensored.  Most people are shocked that he says certain things but I guess I’m just used to him now LOL.  Anyway we saw this movie b/c there wasn’t anything else out that we were remotely interested in seeing and we didn’t want to watch something else that we’d already seen so we decided to check it out.  I’m glad we did.  I wasn’t sure what to expect from this movie but I left pleased.  I love comedies anyway so that was a plus.  There were some life lessons snuck into the plot but they were easy to get overlooked if you were too focused on the comedic part–remember there’s truth in comedy.

Michael Jackson’s This is It: Saw this as a family outing (Mom, Dad, sis and yes the boo).  It was so touching.  I absolutely have to have this for my own personal collection.  Man if he had lived to perform just one concert it would have been such an experience I can’t even put it into words.  I really enjoyed this movie but I really wish there would have been a little more content to it–Idk maybe I was expecting something like Left Eye’s documentary before she died?  Anyway I still loved the movie.  I was surprised more people weren’t in the theater when I went to see it (I saw it the day it was released) but I was also relieved b/c sometimes packed premieres suck and detract from the movie viewing experience.

I Can Do Bad All By Myself: Loved the cast.  Loved Mary J.’s title track for the movie.  The plot disappointed me.  I feel like Tyler had some good stuff going and then he just bailed out.  He didn’t take enough time to develop the plot further–like seriously, when did this relationship develop enough for you to know you were in love with this woman? And then to end it with a wedding?! It seemed a little premature to me.  Oh and I just knew that little boy was gonna start talking by the end of the movie…boy was I wrong.  I mean could we have had some explanation as to why he didn’t talk? Some background story?  I felt the movie was a good attempt but I was left hanging again.  On another note I can’t wait for the sequel to Why Did I Get Married (even though the first one had its downfalls, I still thoroughly enjoyed it).

The extraordinarily beautiful Grace Kelly would have been 80 years of age today. Dying at 53 of a stroke seems so odd, so arbitrary, now that 65 is not old but “middle-aged”.

I’m also struck that her feature films only number eleven. Her presence was such as a movie star and in the popular consciousness that I would have sworn she had at least two dozen parts to her name.

Cast as the ice-cool blonde, described by Alfred Hitchcock as “serene”, there always seemed to be the banked fires waiting to be stoked- no doubt that is the iconic projection of me and a million other men and women.

Which is why I like this picture- the perfect blonde, the perfect skin, the pink of her closed mouth giving nothing away, the cooling waters framing it all-  and the knowing look from eyes old and deep and older yet, that seem to say “I know what I see, what do you see?”
