Thanksgiving was fun. Great food. Great friends.

During the Euchre tournament (cards), I got the opportunity to watch my wife play with the other card sharks, but more importantly I got in a few hours of doodle time.

Home Alone 2 was on, and the part where the kid is roaming around New York tripped me out when I saw the Twin Towers. Very chilling to think about that the whole landscape there is changed. I know that the directors and writers wanted to choose landmarks that would help the film be enjoyed for years, but that part yanks us back to reality that nothing stays the same. Even in our safe country.  Change is a constant, never settle for the way things are, or the way things were. Just be ready for it.

Random doodles abound, ink on Zona’s high-quality Thanksgiving napkins. I also wanted to memorialize Pat’s incredible reflexes when he caught a flying bear puppet like some kind of ninja.  This event is toward the bottom left.

Leaks website wikileaks has posted over half a million pager text messages online, all from US communications networks and all sent between 3am, September 11 and 3am September 12, 2001.

Wikileaks has not revealed the source of the intercepts, but claims that the context in which the data was sent to them a few weeks ago along with other information confirms their validity.

The messages were broadcast “live” online on the wikileaks site and also Twitter between 25th and 26th November, with each message posted at the same time it was originally sent. More details after the jump.

Messages released range from the almost mundane everyday chatter of civilians enquiring about lunch to haunting automatic alarm messages issued to engineers and maintenance companies from servers and systems in the World Trade Center buildings. Although they help to provide an often jarring look at people’s thoughts on that day, the real meat is in what appear to be the more “official” messages, which can be grouped together into coherenet streams from the sender/receiver ID number: :

All very interesting stuff. Whether this illustrates perfectly the “fog of war”, or adds grist to the mill for those who do not believe the offical story of events, who knows? As Wikileaks describes the event:

Il pager, o beeper, o cerca-persone, è un dispositivo personale che consente una comunicazione tramite brevissimi messaggi di testo, tipicamente in una sola direzione. I medici di E.R., ad esempio, ne hanno sempre uno attaccato alla cintura. Prima della diffusione del cellulare, il pager ha svolto egregiamente il ruolo di dispositivo mobile; a partire dalla metà degli anni novanta, invece, è stato utilizzato quasi esclusivamente nel settore dei “messaggi critici” (comunicazioni immediate a medici, poliziotti, addetti alla manutenzione di software e hardware), o per la distribuzione di messaggi a gruppi di persone (come avvisi urgenti ai dipendenti, ecc). Nei casi di emergenze o disastri, mentre tutti i mezzi tramissivi subiscono il carico di chiamate, e quindi si impallano, il pager non soffre di questo effetto, e quindi viene spesso utilizzato dal personale dei servizi di emergenza…

Il 25 novembre 2009, a otto anni di distanza dall’attacco alle Torri Gemelle di New York, il sito wikileaks.org ha pubblicato la trascrizione di circa 500.000 messaggi inviati, tramite pager, tra le 3.00 AM dell11 settembre 2001, fino alle 02.59 AM del giorno dopo. Tutti i messaggi inviati ai pager transitano per opportuni server (simili, per certi versi, a quelli che offrono il servizio OMNIBOX, cioè di invio SMS tramite web), che registrano ogni singolo invio: non si tratta, quindi, di intercettazioni, ma semplicemente di file di LOG, cioè di file che contengono la mera registrazione delle attività svolte da queste macchine.

Approfittando del fatto di essere a casa, ammalato, ho iniziato a scorrere questa interminabile lista di messaggi. Dopo un po’ mi sono reso conto che si tratta di uno dei “documenti storici” più interessanti che mi sia mai capitato di avere tra le mani. Non ci sono rivelazioni eclatanti: la Storia, insomma, non viene riscritta (anche se alcuni dettagli sembrano confermare alcune teorie…). Ma la storia quotidiana di quella tragedia, gli aspetti umani, emergono con una forza sconvolgente.

Il film “Le invasioni barbariche” prende il titolo da un’intervista ad un sociologo trasmessa in una televisione posta nella camera del personaggio principale: il tizio intervistato afferma che l’11 settembre 2001 rappresenta l’inizio delle invasioni barbariche, cioè il primo giorno in cui quella guerra che gli Stati Uniti hanno portato in giro per il mondo arriva dentro ai confini americani. Il termine “barbaro” veniva usato dai Greci per indicare tutte le popolazioni non greche che, quando parlavano, parevano balbuzienti. Bar-bar-bar. Una visione decisamente egocentrica del mondo. Ma ciò che conta è che l’11 settembre, per la prima volta i cittadini americani hanno visto in faccia la morte per quello che è: distruzione, perdita di legami, smarrimento, tragedia privata.

E la sensazione che si ha, scorrendo questa inesauribile lista di messaggi, la maggior parte dei quali sono indicazioni di malfunzionamenti software, di ripartenze di servizi dei server, di oroscopi online o di reminder per le medicine, è che il senso della tragedia dell’11 settembre 2001 stia nella totale impreparazione psicologica ad un simile evento. Persone che vanno al lavoro per partecipare ad un meeting, che si mandano messaggi per decidere cosa mangiare a pranzo, si trovano scaraventati in mezzo ad una vera e propria guerra. E le loro famiglie, al di qua delle barricate, cercano in tutti i modi di venire in contatto con le persone che amano.

Ho provato, con la pazienza che l’influenza dona ad un adulto quando lo sottrae ai suoi doveri, di estrarre, dai circa 100.000 messaggi che ho scorso con gli occhi, una sorta di storia: qualcosa che alla fine somiglia, nella sua struttura drammatica, a tutti i film catastrofici che abbiamo visto nella nostra vita. Ho impiegato, complessivamente, 2 giorni per mettere insieme tutto. Credo che, nonostante la freddezza dei messaggi, questa storia si possa comunque leggere senza particolari difficoltà – basta solo un po’ di pazienza (ho fatto un po’ di fatica ad impostare il carattere della dimensione che avrei voluto: problemi di wordpress..).

Non ho voluto, invece, esprimere nessun giudizio su come sono andate veramente le cose (al riguardo, la mia unica teoria è che non si saprà mai la verità, ammesso che ce ne sia una sola), né sulle cause storiche che hanno portato agli eventi dell’11 settembre, e non mi preoccupo di evidenziare come, ad oggi, solo in Iraq sono morte più di centomila persone innocenti, senza che queste abbiamo potuto mandare o ricevere un ultimo messaggio.

“Success” is relative …

It was just over two years ago I started to research how to sell my photography when I caught “The Bug” to start selling my images online. In September of 2007 I decided to dedicate two years to explore the possibilities of the incredible world of stock photography. I felt that two years would be enough time to give me a chance to sink my teeth into training myself from any and all sources and to get up to speed, starting basically from scratch, on this rapidly expanding and growing industry. At the time I had never even picked up a photography book or taken a photoshop tutorial. It is now two years later, and while I feel I have come very far and achieved many successes, I find that there is always more to learn. I absolutely love this work !

In July of 2007 I relocated to Washington State after accepting a transfer to work at The Boeing Company’s Commercial Airplane Headquarters in Renton, Washington just outside of Seattle, Washington. Analyzing Market Research was my specialty. Driving out to Washington from Colorado during the course of my relocation I captured a few thousands pictures on a Canon SD750 camera. At that time I was interested in seeing if I could market my images by selling prints of them at festivals, art shows and galleries. It was during this period of research that I discovered the world of commercial stock photography.

My first site that I was approved as a contributor at was BigStockPhoto in September of 2007. For that reason alone I will always have a special place in my heart for them. I found that their entry criteria was not as strict as some of the larger sites. The same applies for 123rf so these are both excellent places to get your first exposure to in selling your photography online. That being said you will want to get into Shutterstock and iStockPhoto as soon as possible. This took me many months to achieve as I was starting from nearly complete scratch with the exception of strong information technology background.  FYI: Recently BigStockPhoto was acquired by the subscription based microstock giant Shutterstock .

Stock Photography Sites are often referred to by short abbreviations. It was more than a little confusing to myself when I first started researching microstock on the various forums so I will list a few abbreviations that you may find useful to know your first time encountering them:

• SS = Shutterstock
• IS = iStockPhoto
• DT = Dreamstime
• FT = Fotolia
• BSP = BigStockPhoto
• MP = MostPhotos
• BME = Best Month Ever
• WME = Worst Month Ever
• BDE = Best Day Ever
• MSG = Microstock Group
• EL = Extended License
• RF = Royalty Free
• Glass = Camera Lens for a DSLR Camera ex. Canon 55-250 IS
• IS = Image Stabilization

My first sale came from the second site that I was approved at as a contributor which was Dreamstime. I initially sought out DT during a time when BigStockPhoto was halting uploading over the weekends. This is just one small example of the kind of roadblocks one faces when it comes to trying to build up an approved portfolio at a microstock agency.

At its most basic level, getting started in microstock photography takes just a few basic steps …

• Check-out the various stock photography links on this blog
• Browse the microstock sites and become familiar and get a feel for the photography on them
• Prepare 3-10 of your best images in accordance to the respective standards of the site you wish to join
• Submit your applications to become a contributor (a.k.a photographer) and get approved to contribute
• Shoot Pictures. Post Process Images in Photoshop. Upload Photos to all sites for review. Repeat.
• Collect the revenue from sales made each month across all sites over the years for the life of the image. Large subscription based sites such as Shutterstock will ultimately produce daily sales for you after your portfolio of approved images grows to a modest size of a few hundred images however credit based sale sites such as iStockPhoto will yield higher commissions at a much slower rate. There is constant debate over which is best. Most stock photographers submit all of their work to each of the most profitable microstock sites.
• Receive your payout after reaching a threshold for each respective site. (ex. $50, $75, $100)

I believe a quick recap of where my interest in photography as a child came from will prove insightful to some readers …

Photography had been an interest of mine since I first began taking snapshot photos with “hand me down” cameras from my parents I was about 9 or 10 years old. It was probably around 1979-1981 ish when I first started using 110 film cameras that I usually borrowed from my mother. The first camera that I actually owned was a Polaroid One Step instant camera. I remember having to pay for my own film. Early on I mowed lawns and later on I worked for the family gas station starting at the age of 10 working for $2.00 / hour. At the very least I know I was responsible for paying for the cartridges of film which were very expensive for around ten photos if I remember correctly. This limited my ability to take pictures as I was saving up to pay my way for a $750.00 30-Day bus tour trip across the country with the Boy Scouts to the National Jamboree in Virginia in 1981. Since the film for my instant camera was so expensive my mother allowed me to borrow her Sony Disc Camera. I took both cameras on my 30-day bus tour “Reunion with History” to the Jamboree. The Statue of Liberty was getting a makeover during our tour but it was still amazing and one of my favorite subjects. However, when I went to the top of the “Twin Towers” World Trade Center, that was my favorite scene. The bridges and skyscrapers of New York City fostered my love for architecture and structures which I later studied at length. I plan to dig up a couple of those first photos of mine from that trip, scan them, and post them here as a point-of-reference …

If things had been going well for me in 2001, why then they couldn’t have been better for my friend Jean. His flagship, The Zoo, was making a killing on magic mushrooms, paraphernalia, and sliver accessories, and the money that poured in from the shops funded further expansions in both his retail and wholesale businesses and gave him the room to embark on new ventures.

In early September just as he was turning forty, he finally found a building that suited his needs in Yakuin and leased the whole damn thing, opening a new boutique for young women called Le Fétiche on the first floor, housing his office on the fourth, and using the two floors in between as a warehouse.

It was a bold move, but then everything Jean was doing at the time was bold, if not audacious. He acted no differently when it came to his relationship with Nori, the lovely Amazonian he had met half a year earlier.

Nori would have had any other man eating out of her hand, but not Jean.

“That friend of yours has some nerve,” Nori said to me one evening in mid September. The two of us were having drinks at stylish bar called Neon, waiting for Jean to arrive.

“What’d he do this time?” I said, taking a nip of my cocktail.

“He had another woman at this flat is what!”

“Am I supposed to be surprised by that?”

“No, but . . . “

Jean had quite a few potted cactuses, giant prickly things, throughout his apartment. It was a message, he had told me with a wink, to the women who came back to his place: “He might look cool, but you don’ wanna get too close.”

“But what?” I asked Nori.

“Listen, listen,” she said animatedly. “When I found out he was with another woman, I went straight over to his flat to give him a piece of my mind and, and, and he chewed me out! He’s with another woman and he bawls me out. Can you believe that?”

Just then Jean arrived, and, giving his Amazonian a big kiss on the cheek, sat down between us.

“What are you two talking about?” Jean asked.

“The other night,” Nori replied, getting up and heading for the restroom.

“She told you?” he asked me once Nori was gone.

“Yeah.”

“Astonishing,” he said shaking his head. “That woman is astonishing.”

I could be wrong, but I think that may have been the moment at which Jean started to fall in love with Nori.

“She didn’t tell you everything, did she?” Jean said, looking back towards the restroom.

“Everything?”

“I was with the Chinese bitch when she came over.”

“I figured as much,” I said. “She said you chewed her out.”

“Of course, I did. She’s lucky I didn’t slap her, too, the way she started to carry on. What are you drinking?”

“Cynar and soda,” I said, letting my friend have a sip.

“Not bad,” he said and ordered the same.

Let me tell you, ask any Japanese woman what kind of man she’d like to marry, and, nine times out of ten, she’ll answer, “someone gentle and kind”. But, mark my words; show a woman kindness, generosity, patience, and she’ll run you into the ground with selfish demands and pettiness only to leave in the end you for a drunken lout who slaps her around when he’s not frittering away his salary at a pachinko parlor.

When Nori returned from the restroom, she was smiling broadly.

“That reminds me,” I said, hopping off the barstool. “My turn to recharge the ol’ batteries.”

As I was taking a couple hits meth in the restroom I could hear that piercing laugh of Nori’s that always sounded like glass shattering. I had to shake my head, too. Jean was right: the woman was astonishing, one of kind.

Not until a year later would I learn that I didn’t know the half of it when it came to what had happened that night at Jean’s apartment. After the two had cooled down, Nori made a demand that intrigued her boyfriend enough to through the door wide open and let her in: Nori wanted to know what it was the Chinese woman did for Jean that she herself couldn’t do better. And so, Nori stepped into his apartment and out of her clothes, and Jean enjoyed the first of many ménage à trois. Three’s company too, indeed.

Later, as I was drinking a Pernod and Pampelmuse on the rocks, a customer sitting a few seats away from me looked up from his cell phone and announced that a small plane had just crashed into the World Trade Center.

“Must be an accident,” I said to Jean.

Not fifteen minutes later a news flash appeared on the screens of everyone’s cell phone saying that another plane had crashed into the south tower.

“Accident, my arse! This is a terrorist attack,” I said, dropping a handful of bills on the counter and telling the bartender to keep the change.

I bid Jean and Nori a quick good-bye, and scrambled out the door. Once home, I would spend the next fourteen hours, on the edge of my seat, eyes glued to the television set, watching the Twin Towers burn, people jump to their deaths, and then, at midnight on September twelfth, the first tower came tumbling down.

Needless to say, I did not need drugs to stay awake that night.

Celente forecasts next 9/11 will be in 2010

Earlier this week my family and I visited the Statue of Liberty.  For my wife, this was a return trip for her, although it was the first time since she was a young girl scout.  For myself and my two daughters, this was our first visit.

While I really wasn’t all that fired up about going, I found the trip to be well worth it.  This was just a day trip for us, so our goal was to visit Liberty Island and climb the statue.  Well, OK, it was my wife and children’s goal to climb the statue.  This past summer we climbed the Hatteras Lighthouse (approx. 200 steps).  I made that climb, but was very winded at the top.  Considering a climb to the crown was nearly 350 steps, I knew I was not in shape to complete it.  When Ellen called for tickets, she was told they don’t recommend the climb for people over 6 ft. tall.  Apparently it is a pretty narrow staircase.  At nearly 6′2″, I was presented with an additional reason to stay on the ground – which was really where I preferred to be.

I have invited my wife and oldest daughter to contribute blog entries about their adventure.  So check back later this week for their tales.

The ranger who took my family into the base of the statue to begin their climb indicated approximately 30 minutes for the entire trip.  It was more like 75 minutes – so I had time to kill - but no worries.  I was prepared with a plan. I had my iPod, a beautiful fall afternoon, a wonderful view of the harbor and Manhattan Island, and many people to watch. 

I was fascinated by the amount of foreign languages we were hearing both on the ferry and on the island.  Since for most kids it was a normal school day – it probably made sense that the biggest part of the crowd was foreign tourists.  As I was sitting on the wall people watching, I had one lady – who spoke little English, ask me if I would take a couple of pictures of her with NJ and NY in the backgrounds.  I was honored to assist her in this endeavor.  After reviewing the photos I had taken on her digital screen, she looked at me with a big smile and simply said “Good!”  I guess I met her expectations!

As I was taking the photos, I couldn’t help but think about how the skyline of NYC just didn’t seem right without the Twin Towers.  Back in the fall of 2000 I traveled to NYC for a short business meeting with two colleagues.  We traveled the last leg from NJ to NYC via the Path Train that dropped us off under the World Trade Center.  As we were leaving in the early afternoon, we stopped and had lunch in a restaurant of one of the towers.  Just 11 months later would be 9/11 – a horrible day.  Like many people, I don’t think I can ever just look at the NYC skyline and not think about what happened in 2001.

As I was reflecting on this, I happened to catch sight of three people waving from the top of the stone base, but just below the feet of the Statue of Liberty.  My family!  Forty minutes earlier there had been some others who were waving from the same spot.  I wasn’t sure if it was them - but I had waved.  It turns out that first occurence wasn’t them – but it was pretty obvious this second time that it was my wife and daughters.  They were making some odd gestures, almost like they wanted me to come closer to the base.  Turns out they were just trying to signal to me that they were in the process of descending. 

Based on their stories, it sounds like they all enjoyed the experience – but as I said before, I’ll let them tell their story in a future blog post.

Does the name Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) ring a bell? By now everyone should know, in case some don’t: KSM is the “self-proclaimed mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks.” This sociopath, psychotic, extremist, vulgar champion of hatred and intolerance, detritus of scum, mass murderer, malicious and heartless nonhuman bastard is far beyond the average criminal. While the average criminal earns his infamous title through robbery and kidnapping, shop lifting and gang activities, once every few years comes along a troubled soul with wishes to mass produce death and suffering in the most demonic of inconceivable ways. KSM is not a criminal for he committed not a crime, KSM is a terrorist and subsequently he committed a crime against humanity. So why then will KSM face a civilian trial in New York City? A civilian trial for a man who relinquished his own Human Rights the instant he deliberately and arbitrarily deprived some 3,000 people of the most important and vital safeguard for Human Rights– life itself.  
 I know not much about Law, Criminal Justice, Judiciary procedure, crimes or punishments, but I do know about human values and justice in its most pristine stage. And so I wonder about the thin line that separates justice and injustice– the crucial and thin line that mutates the exercise of justice into injustice itself. Attorney General Eric Holder went on to say “Today’s announcement marks a significant step forward in our efforts to close Guantánamo and to bring to justice those individuals who have conspired to attack our nation and our interests abroad.” Mr. Holder and exactly what is this so-called “significant step forward”? Allowing a terrorist to have center stage and gain media coverage is not a step forward, it is a generous reward for a terrorist who deserves no legitimization. It is sure poetic to have KSM stand before a jury of a New York court room, but it is absolutely irrelevant to the process of carrying out justice. It is as if instead of a serious trial this should all become a sensational Broadway play. Justice should not become a rosy procedure that transforms terrorists into celebrities.

According to Anthony Romero, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union, the decision marks “an enormous victory for the rule of law.” Well excuse me Mr. Romero, for I am just an 18 year old with a different perspective when it comes to justice. I cannot conceive how a man who took the lives of 3,000 souls, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, people innocent of all political extremism and radical fanaticism, can be the subject of any “enormous victory” in terms of justice. I rebuke the idea that justice has to conform to political correctness of any kind. Terrorism is far from being politically correct, mass murder sure isn’t. Why equate shoplifting with terrorism by bringing it to a civilian courtroom? Since when is symbolism more important than morals, ethics, and justice? I get the symbolic act that this despicable creature will be subjected to justice blocks away from where the attacks took place, but will this poetic symbolism bring back the lives of those murdered? Will all this theatrical absurdity bring any justice?

Justice has frozen– it is just ice. The quintessential idea behind justice should be like a free flowing body of water, but it instead it has become a solid gigantic piece of ice– obtuse and obsolete.

Innocence or Myopia? Justice or political correctness? Courtroom or Broadway stage? Terrorism or average crimes, mere acts of vandalism? Etc, etc, etc.

A federal appeals court has ordered leftist Manhattan civil rights lawyer Lynne Stewart to surrender and begin serving her sentence immediately on her 2005 conviction for shuttling messages from imprisoned terrorist Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman.

Stewart, 70, has been free on bail pending appeal since her 2005 conviction for using her status as Abdel-Rahman’s lawyer to violate federal rules barring him from communicating from his high-security imprisonment, and her 2006 sentence to 28 months in jail by U.S. District Judge John Koeltl.

A three-judge panel of the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in Tuesday morning’s ruling, not only affirmed Stewart’s conviction and ordered her to prison immediately, but remanded the case to Koeltl to consider whether she should get a harsher sentence.

Prosecutors had sought 30 years, and the court said Koeltl – who cited her lifetime of efforts on behalf of the downtrodden in mitigation – may not have adequately considered claims that she perjured herself and other factors.

“Because the district court declined to find whether Stewart committed perjury at trial, we cannot conclude that the mitigating factors found to support her sentence can reasonably bear the weight assigned to them,” Judge Robert Sack wrote.

“This is so particularly in light of the seriousness of her criminal conduct, her responsibilities as a member of the bar, and her role as counsel for Abdel-Rahman.”

In an act that further makes a mockery of the Islamist threat that faces us, the administration has decided that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Gitmo detainees will be sent to New York City to stand trial in a civilian federal court for their role in the 9/11 atrocity. According to Attorney General Eric Holder, prosecutors will seek the death penalty.

No word yet if Lynne Stewart has offered to be on the defense team.

Will Obama and Holder Be Tried in Civilian Court? (Updated)

This is the question I have been asking myself this morning, after reading a thought-provoking article at Real Clear Politics by Ronald Cass, Dean Emeritus of Boston University School of Law and Chairman of the Center for the Rule of Law. Cass makes a point that should silence critics of the argument that terrorists deserve no more rights than other criminals of war and should be tried by the military.

Namely, he reminds the reader of a very unfortunate consequence of the Clinton administration’s decision to prosecute those responsible for the 1993 WTC bombing in federal court in New York. For those too liberal to remember, Lynne Stewart, attorney for the blind cleric, Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, leaked strategic government information gathered through discovery to the cleric’s cohorts in al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya, a terrorist organization. For this act of treason, Stewart, who should have faced a firing squad, was sentenced instead to 28 months in prison and was disbarred.

The damage was done, however. Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya knew all they needed to know about how U.S. intelligence monitored acts of terrorism, who was on their watch list, and how to circumvent these pitfalls in planning future terrorist acts. No doubt, the information was passed along to al-Gama’s deadlier sister organization, Al Qaeda. In essence, treating an act of terrorism as a law enforcement matter in 1993 may have been a factor in Al Qaeda’s finishing the job of bringing down the WTC in 2001.

You’d think future generations of leaders would learn from experience. Not Barack Obama and his loon in the Justice Department, Eric Holder. It’s too important for them to make a political statement to the American electorate on how “differently” this administration is from its predecessor. So my question for Holder and Obama is: Do you feel lucky, punk?

There is no reason to suspect there will be another leak in the civilian trial of KSM and his fellow scum. Neither is there a reason to suspect something won’t slip through the cracks. Should that happen and there is another attack, I hope the government will find a special way of thanking Obama and Holder for their service.

UPDATE: Talk about your coincidences. I just learned, via a post by Ed Morrissey, that Lynne Stewart, who had been set free on bail while appealing her conviction, is on her way back to the slammer. “Today, the federal appeals court not only upheld her conviction and revoked her bail, but they also sent the case back to the district court for reconsideration of the shockingly light 28-month sentence Stewart initially received.”

The Ft Hood shooter is on my mind and the psychological elements that he may have had.  I believe that he is a terrorist.  So, what makes one become a terrorist?  They are not crazy, but are there elements that are similar in the terrorists heads?  So, I found this and something in it rings true.  I submit this observation.  Could non-conscious events be the reason for his paranoia?  A series of thoughts that finally put him over the limit?

Reproducibility Distinguishes Conscious From Nonconscious Neural Representations

What qualifies a neural representation for a role in subjective experience? Previous evidence suggests that the duration and intensity of the neural response to a sensory stimulus are factors. We introduce another attribute—the reproducibility of a pattern of neural activity across different episodes—that predicts specific and measurable differences between conscious and nonconscious neural representations indepedently of duration and intensity. We found that conscious neural activation patterns are relatively reproducible when compared to nonconscious neural activation patterns corresponding to the same perceptual content. This is not adequately explained by a difference in signal-to-noise ratio.

In June I published a post, Shot fired overhead; Glenn Beck shows his Operative stripes to spread the Infowars report on the blatant CIA PsyOps attempt to vilify 9/11 Truthers as domestic terrorists.  Glenn Beck demonstrated his true colors during his interview of a self-described former CIA operative when he spewed the blatant lie that 9/11 Truthers were complicit in the murderous act of James Wenneker von Brunn who shot and killed Stephen Jones, the guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

No amount of CIA propaganda will put the genie back into the bottle.  The fact remains that high-tech explosive materials were strategically planted within the towers before September 11th, 2001, some detonating in sub-basement levels just seconds before the first plane hit.  That media coverage of the international scientific study at the University of Copenhagen, that confirms the presence of nano-thermite in the WTC dust, is widespread in Europe is not the scope of this blog post.

This post is intended to document on this blog site another such PsyOps effort by the CIA, again aptly reported by Infowars.com).  This time the PsyOps effort is attempting to hijack the recent Fort Hood tragic shooting rampage to make it out to be reflective of the 9/11 Truth Movement.

A career Neo-Con hack with intimate ties to the CIA has shamefully exploited the tragic massacre at Fort Hood last week to smear anyone who questions the official 9/11 story as a gun-toting terrorist intent on mass murder on a par with crazed killer Nidal Malik Hasan.

In an opinion piece, UPI editor at large Arnaud De Borchgrave disgracefully claims that, “There are tens of thousands of Hasans all over the Western world — from Brussels to Berlin and from Burgos, Spain, to Birmingham, U.K.,” before making the case that anyone who dares doubt the government’s version of events on 9/11 is an extremist hell-bent on metering out “jihadi violence” like Hasan did when he gunned down scores of his colleagues.

“For them, Sept. 11, 2001, was a conspiracy cooked up by the CIA and Mossad, Israel’s external intelligence service,” writes Borchgrave.

Borchgrave’s bellicose hit piece harks back to the November 2007 hearing of the Homeland Security Subcommittee’s “Terrorism and the Internet,” which was broadcast on C-Span and chaired by California democrat Jane Harman, sponsor of the infamous HR 1955, “Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007.” During the hearing, a powerpoint demonstration from Mark Weitzman of the Simon Weisenthal Center ludicrously equated Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, an organization consisting of professionals who are investigating the collapse of WTC 7 and the twin towers, with violent Islamic terrorists.

Borchgrave outlines his argument with the usual turd-load of ad hominem drivel and half-baked strawman claims. At no point whatsoever does he present any evidence that Hasan embraced 9/11 conspiracies, which would totally contradict separate reports that Hasan is linked with members of Al-Qaeda.

“Even though al-Qaida’s Osama bin Laden and his No. 2 Ajman Al-Zawahiri have both taken credit for Sept. 11, countless millions are convinced they had nothing to do with the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon,” he writes.

If Borchgrave had bothered to do one iota of research before spewing his vitriol, he would have discovered that on numerous occasions immediately after the attacks, Bin Laden explicitly denied responsibility for 9/11.

In a statement released to the Arabic satellite channel Al Jazeera and reported on by CNN on September 17, 2001, Bin Laden said, “I would like to assure the world that I did not plan the recent attacks, which seems to have been planned by people for personal reasons. I have been living in the Islamic emirate of Afghanistan and following its leaders’ rules. The current leader does not allow me to exercise such operations.”

Asked if he carried out 9/11 by the Pakistani newspaper Ummat on September 28, 2001, Bin Laden responded, “I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States. As a Muslim, I try my best to avoid telling a lie. I had no knowledge of these attacks, nor do I consider the killing of innocent women, children and other humans as an appreciable act. Islam strictly forbids causing harm to innocent women, children and other people. Such a practice is forbidden even in the course of a battle.”

The only person to “take credit” for the attacks was a dubiously fat Bin Laden lookalike who appeared on a videotape that was broadcast on December 13, 2001. Freedom Of Information Act requests attempting to validate the tape’s authenticity filed with the FBI, CIA, Department of Defense, and CENTCOM were met with a refusal to release any records. The FBI’s Most Wanted page still fails to list 9/11 on Bin Laden’s rap sheet because “the FBI has no hard evidence connecting bin Laden to 9/11,” according to FBI agent Rex Tomb.

The tape was allegedly found in a house in Jalalabad after anti-Taliban forces moved in. It featured a fat Osama laughing and joking about how he’d carried out 9/11. The video was also mistranslated in order to manipulate viewer opinion and featured “Bin Laden” praising two of the hijackers, only he got their names wrong.

This Osama also uses the wrong hand to write with and wears gold rings, a practice considered abhorrent to the Muslim faith.

A German TV Channel One investigation found that the White House’s translation of the video was inaccurate and “manipulative”. One of the experts employed by the program to study the video concluded that the translation was “Very problematic – at the most important places where it is held to prove the guilt of Bin Laden, it is not identical with the Arabic.”

“Prof. Gernot Rotter, professor of Islamic and Arabic Studies at the Asia-Africa Institute at the University of Hamburg sums it up: “The American translators who listened to the tapes and transcribed them apparently wrote a lot of things in that they wanted to hear but that cannot be heard on the tape no matter how many times you listen to it.”

In his hit piece, Borchgrave recycles a number of strawman issues that aren’t even embraced by the majority of the 9/11 truth movement in a pathetic effort to equate questioning 9/11 with Holocaust denial, which routinely serves as the last refuge of those who are losing the argument and have to resort to intimidation in an attempt to demonize the target of their attack.

Borchgrave’s motivation for smearing people who question the official version of 9/11 as crazed killers would be something of a mystery if not for the fact that, as a result of his dutiful lifelong propaganda in service of the U.S. military-industrial complex, he was tapped for recruitment by the CIA on two separate occasions and has remained in close contact with the Agency throughout his career as a journalist.

Borchgrave considered his “key, best sources of information” in the world the heads of “intelligence services in Washington, London, Tel Aviv, and Pretoria, each of which I stay in close contact with.”

Borchgrave was also affiliated with CAUSA, an “educational organization” created in New York City in 1980 by members of the Unification Church at the suggestion of Rev. Sun Myung Moon (owner of Borchgrave’s primary employers, UPI and the Washington Times), that sought to propagandize in favor of the Contra leadership during the time when they were being armed and funded by the CIA during the Iran-Contra scandal.

Borchgrave dispensed with any of the tenets of a true journalist more than 30 years ago by acting as an apologist for government deception and disinformation. In 1978, he told the Covert Action Information Bulletin that it was acceptable for authorities to oversee “management of the news” in order to “put the best face possible face” on what they were doing.

Borchgrave infamously peddled a hoax story in a crude attempt to generate support for the war in Iraq in 2003. According to SourceWatch, “Borchgrave was instrumental in laundering a story about a recanting peace-activist who “saw the light” in Iraq before the war. Although Joseph went to Iraq to protest against the impending war in 2003, while in Baghdad, he changed his mind, and now favored the war. It transpires that this was a hoax, there was no “Kenneth Joseph”, and the details can be read here.”

Borchgrave’s TV appearances are handled by Benador Associates, a public relations firm that provided enthusiastic Neo-Con cheerleaders for the war on Iraq during the now exposed Bush-Pentagon military propaganda program.

In May 2006, Benador were disgraced when it emerged that they had planted a fake story that later appeared in the National Post of Canada claiming that “Iran’s government had passed a law requiring Jewish residents to wear a yellow insignia — reminiscent of the policies of Germany’s Nazi regime.” The story was planted with the aid of Iranian exile Amir Taheri, who was later brought to the White House to consult with George W. Bush as an “expert” on the situation in Iraq.

According to the PR group’s founder Eleana Benador, planting fake stories in the media is a noble pursuit. “As much as being accurate is important, in the end it’s important to side with what’s right. What’s wrong is siding with the terrorists,” she told the Nation, who exposed the PR firm in an article entitled “Bunkum From Benador”.

As a result of his doting fealty to the U.S. war machine, some commentators have accused Borchgrave of being an outright disinformation agent, peddling his own brand of bunkum on a regular basis.

Again from SourceWatch, “William Preston and Ellen Ray wrote a history of disinformation in the U.S., and observed: “The greatest assistance in disinformation – especially during the current Administration – is always forthcoming from the Reader’s Digest. In 1977 the Times exposed Digest editor John Barron as having worked hand in glove with the CIA on a book about the KGB. Other fraudulent journalists like Robert Moss, Arnaud de Borchgrave, Daniel James, Claire Sterling, and Michael Ledeen, among others, seem to pick up disinformation themes almost automatically. In fact, coordination between the development of propaganda and disinformation themes by the covert media assets, the overt propaganda machine, and the bevy of puppet journalists is quite calculated. A theme which is floated on one level – a feature item on VOA about Cuba for example – will appear within record time as a lead article in Reader’s Digest, or a feature in a Heritage Foundation report, or a series of “exposes” by Moss and de Borchgrave or Daniel James in some reactionary tabloid like Human Events or the Washington Times or Inquirer. Then they will be called to testify by Senator Denton’s Subcommittee on Security and Terrorism, repeating one another’s allegations as “expert witnesses”.

“After that they are given credibility by the “respectable” Cold War publications like the National Review, Commentary, and the New Republic. And finally, since they have repeated the theme so many times it must be true, they are given the opportunity to write Op Ed pieces for the New York Times or the Washington Post.”

The fact that the truth movement is being attacked and equated with terrorists for suggesting high-level government involvement in 9/11 by a man who has more spook connections than James Bond and less journalistic integrity than the average National Inquirer hack should serve as a badge of honor.

Borchgrave’s inane rantings have provided us with the perfect opportunity to expose him and his ilk for exactly what they are – intellectual prostitutes for the establishment with no credibility, no facts, and an agenda completely focused around lies, deception and bias.

This is a very eye opening video, as it shows two Muslim men making entirely contradicting statements in New York City. The first one is inside a mosque, and he tells the interviewer that they (the Muslims in that mosque) want to show the world what the real Islam is all about: “Islam is about peace, Islam is about moderation, Islam is about friendship. Islam opposes any kind of hatred against anybody.” Right after that, we see two passionate Muslims preaching in the streets of New York, and then we see the reporter explaining that, if you are not a Muslim, you are considered by them as a disbeliever. After that, Younes Abdullah Mohammed unashamedly reveals their true agenda and what Islam is really all : “We are commanded to terrorize disbelievers,and this is a religion, like I said. In the Qu’ran it says this very clearly in the Arabic language, and this means terrorize them. It’s a command from Alah.” So there is no excuse whatsoever for politicians such as Obama to commend or praise Islam in any way, shape or form.

Vogliamo i fatti!- e tutti a mormorare il loro dissenso verso il collega che toglierebbe il patos mentre la camera  cala nella penombra e sui banchi compaiono abat-jours e telefoni intercomunicanti. Poi la descrizione delle varie posizioni assunte, compatibilmente con l’artrosi che a settantadue anni suonati c’è, e come! Infine la descrizione dell’orgasmo raggiunto e giù un applauso da stadio e fischi all’americana con tanto di accendini accesi che oscillano da parte del PDL. Un trionfo dei sensi in tutti i sensi mentre Bersani i sensi li perde nuovamente dopo che li aveva persi alla guida di un partito senza senso. Vespa subito a scrivere un altro libro dal titolo “ il Kamasutra secondo Silvio” e  Marrazzo a scrivere il “ Ka… m’hanno incastrato”.

Obama non ha di questi problemi (con una moglie come Michelle gli sganassoni se li prende a due a due fino a quando non diventano dispari) però si è incavolato molto perché non sapeva di avere Rambo a Fort Hood nelle vesti di un medico di origine giordana e pure musulmano (ma dove se li vanno a capare?) che ha fatto una carneficina con ben tredici morti e trentuno feriti di cui alcuni gravi. È proprio vero che la realtà molte volte supera la fantasia come nel caso delle Twin Towers ma è altrettanto vero che se gli americani dopo la seconda guerra mondiale non hanno più vinto un conflitto un motivo c’è, e ce l’hanno in casa.

L’OCSE ha detto che l’Italia è in ripresa e Berlusconi ha affermato che siamo il sesto paese più ricco della terra. Mi sa tanto che abito in un altro mondo oppure l’OCSE mi deve dire dove si ubriaca la sera. Ve la ricordate la statistica del pollo per ogni abitante? C’è chi ne mangia dieci e ci sono dieci abitanti che non vedono neanche le penne del pollo. Il Cavaliere dice che gli italiani sono ottimisti.

Questa certezza conferma la mia certezza di non essere italiano, al massimo un immigrato in attesa di cittadinanza. Il mio ottimismo poi crolla quando penso ai due progetti di questo governo: Banca del Mezzogiorno (forse perché a quell’ora si mangia?) e Ponte sullo Stretto di Messina ( se non frana prima!). Io sarò pure non italiano e magari pure sospettoso ma credo che in fila, davanti alla Banca del Mezzogiorno, vedremo società “onorate”, capi cosca, N’drangheta, Camorra con i casalesi in testa, assessori di vari comuni. Un bel modo per pagare e far stare buono un certo elettorato. Poco tempo fa guardando una tv privata ho letto un cartello che diceva “Benvenuti a Casal di Principe, sotto il quale qualche buontempone ha aggiunto…”abbasta che nun scassate ‘a mazza”. Un chiaro invito a farsi gli affari propri!

Per tornare ai polli, tra tanta confusione e disinformazione strategica ecco uno che ci rassicura e dice che presto l’aviaria si unirà con la suina e allora ci sarà da ridere. Io l’unico modo che conosco di mettere insieme un maiale e una pollastrella è dentro un letto. Scegliete voi la… “camera”.

Our marines will be proud to be on something that embodies courage and the steel of the humans that paid with their blood and the inoccent lives that they are thier to avenge with their presence of streangth on a ship that epitimizes streangth. 

The USS New York  is an on a surface warship involved in the War on Terrorism in honor of September 11’s victims.
