Scheme continues releasing remakes while working on his upcoming LP Pesos Turns to Dollars. This time around he creates The Change (Glory), which embodies everything the artist has experienced within the last 4 months, and also serves as a proclamation of what’s to come, both personally and musically.

 With this remake there’s a catch though; and it involves Scheme & DJ Scend‘s next Two Turntables and a Mic Series. The duo usually releases the name of the producer shortly before releasing a new series, but this time they are taking a different approach. The next producer for the TT&AM Series actually has co-production credits on the original beat for The Change (Glory). For Scheme & DJ Scend part of the fun in coming up with the TT&AM Series is the digging aspect of it. Having to go through beats of producers they respect and finding those gems; well known and underappreciated. This time they leave the homework up to you; listen to The Change (Glory) and figure out which producer has co-production credits on it, and then you’ll know who the next TT&AM Series producer will be.

 Expect a mixtape from Scheme & DJ Scend before the upcoming Pesos Turns to Dollars LP, and expect the next TT&AM Series even sooner.

Molemen Records x SRNC x Ruby Hornet Presents The Brand New Video for the TT&AM | Pete Rock Series.

After receiving a great response from blogs, sites and fans for their most recent installment of the Two Turntables and a Mic series, Scheme and DJ Scend are at it again. Ruby Hornet premiered the video for this series, which pays homage to the legendary Pete Rock. The video was shot in their hometown of Chicago and with the help of Sense Hernandez of Beast Factory Films, who directed, shot and edited the video, it’s nothing less than the great quality work the duo continuously puts out.

The homies Scheme and Scend did it once again with their latest edition of Two Turntables and a Mic. This time they paid homage to the great Pete Rock. Since they first started the series, I have always hoped they did a Pete Rock tribute. Well, my wish came true. In my opinion, Pete Rock’s The Game has got to be the best thing my ears have ever heard and I’m glad it was used properly. Hit the jump to listen to Scheme and Scend’s latest edition of Two Turntables and a Mic honoring Pete Rock.  Look out for Scheme and Scend’s Pete Rock Tribute coming out on May 8th. Teaming up in 2010, Scheme and DJ Scend immediately set out to set themselves apart from the masses. The concept of Emcee and DJ as a duo is one they were set on reviving and breathing a new life into. Busy brainstorming ways to highlight both their talents, the idea for the Two Turntables and a Mic series came to mind. The series of projects, each paying respect to a different producer is their way of showcasing one another doing what they do as well as paying their respect to the great producers of Hip-Hop.

If you don’t know who Scheme and DJ Scend are, you need to be schooled real quick. They are two of the most talented cats I’ve seen coming from our own Windy City.  Scheme and Scend have paid tribute to hip hop’s greatest producers in their Two Turntables and a Mic series. Currently, they have done a homage to L.E.S., NO I.D., and DJ Muggs. They have already completed a tribute to Pete Rock, but haven’t released it yet. A video for the Pete Rock tribute is currently in the making. We can get a behind the scenes look at what the video will look like by checking out the video below. What makes me bring this up? Heartbeat. A “new” song by L.L. Cool J and 50 Cent. I was driving down the road, cruising along, and I hear this choppy version of a great classic song…

Let’s start with the original. Heartbeat, by Taana Gardner, was released in the 70′s and was the anthem of every skate ring on the east coast. The song was a one hit wonder as were many songs of the 70′s.

The first one that I loved was Ini Kamoze. In fact it was the first I heard, so I was excited to find Taana Gardner on vinyl a few years back. I play both at every party we have.
